Move Over 1080P
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just picked up my Sammy 4k player today. Went home and hooked player up to my onkyo receiver. The receiver I have know doesn't support 4k but I just ordered my upgrade today. Put the disc in of the Martian in 4k. WOW! The colors snap, crackle, and pop and I don't even have my 4k receiver so the player downscaled it to 1080p! I am just imagining what it will look like when my 4k receiver is hooked up. For a videophile this purchase is a no brainer. For the average consumer this purchase is a no brainer. Now the beauty of 4k HDR will be realized. 4k resolution vs 1080p resolution is difficult to discern with the human eye but 4k HDR is easily noticed.

Looks great, runs well, the remote is too small.

I've had it for 24hrs now and have watched 2 UHD movies and have tested out the 2K to 4K up-conversion. I haven't had a chance to try any of my 3D movies yet. I'm using this player with the Sony xbr55x850C. The UHD movies looked great, the HDR is really beautiful and the up-conversion is noticeable. I will not be re-buying any movies that I currently own on blu-ray but I will only buy 4K discs going forward. I do wish however that they would make 4K 3D or at least provide a 3D Blu-ray disc along with the 4K version.

Decent product when it works

Now for the player.... The sound is fantastic. The 3D is even better and actually is coming out from the TV much more than before. The colors are so vivid that I had to turn off the HDMI Deep Color setting in the player. Turning that setting OFF made 2D picture color perfect. The 3D colors are slightly muted with Deep Color setting off but nothing to cry about. I can't even imagine what the 4k UHD Bluray discs will be like.

No a great product

Bought another Samsung 4k upscale player and it also stopped working now I have to pay to send it back to Samsung because I live in Puerto Rico. If I lived in Hawaii or Alaska shipping it back would have been free and they are further away, I don't get it!

Even without HDR, this player produces a noticeable improvement in picture quality on my TV. The difference is in the fine details. Everything is just a little sharper, which adds to the viewing experience. I had been using my Playstation 3 as my blu-ray player for many years, and this player is better in both speed and picture quality. I have watched only one 4K movie thus far (The Amazing Spiderman 2), and it looked great! There is also an improvement in my regular blu-ray movies. I'm happy with my purchase, and would recommend this player!

Would have been perfect if theres a glass front display panel and not curved. Overall, a very good player!

Terrible

Every time we put one in it presents us with an error message. Geek squad kept a telling us that it was a bad DVD so we kept buying new ones and every time it didn't work. Best Buy won't give us a new one or in store credit. They keep telling us to call Samsung and Samsung gives us the run around. It only play regular dvd's, no blue ray or 4K. Terrible.

Stopped working in 6 months

Contacted Samsung sent back for repair they claimed when the box was delivered it was empty. The worst customer service department ever! I own 4 Samsung smart TV's and will never own a 5th. I've always liked Samsung but never had to deal with their inept customer service will look to buy LG or Sony in the future for all products.

Not worth the money

Once resumed from pause it will only play a few seconds then pause again. There are also some BluRay discs that will display a black screen but if I put the DVD disc of the same movie then it plays. Very close to taking it back.

Excellent, but limited benefit over 1080p
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have a number of 4k TVs (Sony, Samsung) and also a 1080p Sharp Elite Pro-70X5FD. I still prefer the picture on the Elite. But on to the comments. No doubt about it, coupled with the Sony 4k set the picture quality is very good. No. Extremely good. However, at the distances we normally sit from the set (8-9 feet) I am hard pressed to say that their is any discernable difference in the perceived picture quality between the 4k and 1080p versions. I have read that the human eye just can't resolve the difference. Nothing bad to say about the unit. $399.00 is a great price for it. Just not significantly better that quality 1080p setups. And the picture quality on the Sharp Elite is still superior to all my 4k sets. Just my unscientific observations.
