Old Bluray picture as good as this 4K
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As of yet, I still believe my other Samsung Blu-ray player gave as good a picture as this $400 player. I have a 4K new TV and the sales clerk said my pictures would be a lot better with this $400 thing. He gave me written instructions on what to change in all the settings, and my 4K DVDs in my 4K $400 player viewing on my 4K multi thousand dollar TV isn't any better. All of my devices are Samsung, so there isn't any kind of conflict going on. I would suggest that no one should buy any 4K device yet. 4K is too new. Waite a while .

Issues with HDMI Cable Length
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this 4k player and hooked it up. My setup requires a 12ft length of HDMI cable. I already had a 12ft 4k HDMI cable which exceeded 26gbps. The 4k player would display a regular blu-ray video properly, however, when you attempt to play 4k content, the screen goes black. I though perhaps the HDMI cable was defective. I then purchased a new 16' monster black ultra cable, and still have the same issue. I am able to view 4k when using a 4' cable, but is not able to be a long term solution for me. I then contacted Samsung and they stated that this player will not support any cable over 6' in length.

Poor Quality Control by Samsung
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looks like I got a defective unit. Unit did not turn on for the first few attempts ( Red light was blinking continuously). Finally turned on & turned green. Then it reported warning about HDMI Port not being HDCP 2.2 , when infact both the receiver & TV ports (tried them separately) support HDMI 2.0a & HDCP 2.2... Then when it finally played the 4K Blu-ray, it was all red & grainy...even a regular Blu-ray had similar effect. Same Blu-ray played fine in PS4.Switched cables, Ports etc, same issue...The HDMI port on Sony TV is also set to Enhanced Mode and it did detect "HDR Video" in Picture mode...Same red grain all over...Returning. Too bad there is not an alternative player on the market presently...

Read the article
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The rating may confuse you, so Finnish the read. The player is good. I did notice a quality difference between this and my standard blu ray player. The thing that is bothering me is this, I have an ultra HD tv with high dynamic ratio, he high dynamic ratio HDMI cable, and the ultra HD DVD. When I put the DVD in it bring me a message alone the lines of "for optimal performance, connect blu ray player to a tv that supports high dynamic ratio" (which is what I have) you can play the film anyways after the message. I see absolutely no difference betweeen this and a standard blu ray, so the box must not be connecting correctly to my tv. I don't see any other way to hook it up. If someone could reply with an answer that would be great. So, I am curious if this player if actually works with ultra HD dvds or the high dynamic ratio televisions.

Very Disaappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased the unit on yesterday, and this morning anxiously awaiting Best Buy to open so that i can return it. This unit has many issues. One is the remote which might be great for a little child, but very hard for a grown man with large fingers. Also there are very few things that you can do with the remote. Setting up streaming services is a nightmare. Called Samsung Support and was given a link, which was not helpful at all. Also the unit stopped working after about 3 hours. Had to contact support again to learn how to reset to factory settings. With some many issues on the first day, I have decided to return the unit and purchase a Sony instead.

Terrible Build & Support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first Samsung product. I was incredibly unhappy with the design and usage plus I found the instructions complicated. When I contacted Samsung I received very poor support. The remote is too small, not lit, impossible to see in the dark and uses a pancake battery which is expensive and not traditional for all other supports. I had to purchase a third party remote for $90.00. As for the machine it is slow and requires two HDMI cables in order to get 4K.

Blinking Red Light
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased at Best Buy. TV is Samsung JS7000. Audioquest Chocolate HDMI cable to TV. Turned on, performed firmware update, bricked device. Looked at Samsung's website and AVS forums, plenty of issues due to the latest firmware. Waste of time. I'll wait for Oppo to release their version of a UHD player.

Beware of this.........
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok, first of all, I have to say I was very excited about buying this 4K player as I wanted to get the full "Bang" out of my 4K TV. a Samsung Curved Screen that I bought a while back that gives me a excellent picture. but this is what happened to me. I went to Best Buy, laid down my $400 plus for this player, very excited to get this home and hooked up to my Yamaha 11.2 system that sounds perfect. I hook up all the HDMI cables just as the instructions say to , check everything, I even bought a copy of Enders Game in 4K to get the full bang out of this. turn on the set, the player, the receiver.....and...........1080 x 24p picture? wait where is the 4K? where is the Upscaling? where is anything that looks better than my old player that worked fine?? I reset the player, the TV checked everything over and over for 4 hours. finally frustrated, I boxed the unit up, took it back, got my money back and saw the salesman that helped me when I bought this unit. I go over to him and tell him my story, he says...........did you buy any 4K Cables? what?? no one ever said anything about needing new cables, and to top it off, the "Pass Through" in my Yamaha Receiver which gives me perfect sound, will not let the 4K signal through.....WHAT !!! so unless you are ready to replace your whole system for a new one to watch movies that are basically a little clearer than 1080(Human Eye) be prepared to shell out a lot of money, and after you replace all your equipment for 4K. they are all ready talking 8K down the road. there comes a time when we have gone too far for watching movies at home, I think that time is now. how many times do we have to change out our systems for home entertainment?? to be fair, the 1080 picture that this unit displayed was great, but I never got the bang for my buck.

Stopped working after 4 uses
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it worked, it worked great. Apps are good, 4K HDR is great. Loading times on discs is ok. After not using it for about a week, it stopped opening the tray and had a constant flashing red light on the front. Its currently being fixed under warranty, but I've never had a product just die like this within such a short time. Maybe should've got the new Xbox...

I really don't think it is worth the 400 dollars.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do onto have HDR ability I don't see a huge difference. I played the blu ray version in my blu ray player vs 4k version in this 4k blu ray player and yes there is a difference but it really is just slightly smoother if you will.

sound lag
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this on a black friday sale to pair with a sony 65 inch 4k . disappointed in that when you play a dvd, the video does not line up to the audio track. the player does have an audio sync function which you can set...i think i chose the 30ms delay, but never really were able to get them to line up perfectly. definitely not a plug and play system, needs to be tweeked somewhat to be deemed a seamless pair. im taking it back and sticking with sony brand
