I began purchasing 4K UHD Blu-ray movies when the were first released. I am a Sony fan and wanted to see when they would release a player. After a few months Sony announced they would not release a player until 2017. At the time Panasonic's release was announced the Samsung player was put on sale. What a bargain. The player is easy to use, setup and hookup. The picture at worst is as good as any streaming. At best the picture and sound are terrific. With my present setup I do not have HDR, so I cannot comment on how that looks. I have a Sony 65XBR-850A which begs the question, How can the discs be viewed since it does not have the correct HDMI requirements? I have a device hooked up between my Denon 7200WA receiver and the Sony. The device mimics the correct inputs. The Samsung player and the Denon do not know the difference. If you like Blu-ray, you will love 4k. All 4K discs have a regular blu-ray included as well as streaming HD. You can buy the discs as new movies come out and when you upgrade you will not need to rebuy the titles.

This blu-ray player is absolutely the best 4K content player on the market. The quality is just jaw dropping, we just need way more content. I recommend for all 4k TV owners!

OK this is my first UHD player and it was crazy simple to hook up. Watched Deadpool in 4K and was blown away! I may never want to go to a theater again. The next day we put in a regular Blu-ray version of Tombstone and it was great; this thing upscales the movie and makes watching entertaining!

This player picture quality is superb! 4k playback is absolutely stunning! Blu-ray upscaling is very nice! From a picture quality output standpoint, this unit gets a 10 out of 10. But there are some annoyances...... The remote is horrible like most users states. Its too small even for my small hands and it takes for ever to enter text onscreen when setting up the unit. Also the unit has a delay when powering on and loading to the home screen and to the movie itself. Not a deal breaker and should be able to fix via firmware. Also the hub apps like Netflix in particular is not compatible for 4k streaming as of yet but should be coming soon. Overall I am happy with the unit and would recommend even with its cons.

For the price and to work with my Samsung KS8000, this was the UHD player for me. I've been extremely happy with the picture quality and especially the upscaling on DVD and BDs. My only fault with the product is Samsung continues to go smaller and smaller with the remotes. The buttons are small and I have difficulty getting subtitles turned on (for foreign films and late night viewing to keep from waking kids).
Overall, very happy with the purchase.

There aren't many choices out there for 4K Blu Ray players that doesn't cost you arms and leg. So enter this Samsung 4K player. I bought it during Black Friday week for $200. It's a steep price for a blu ray player considering a regular blu ray player can be had for less than $50. However, we just bought a 75 inch 4K TV and wanted to maximize the experience. The setup with our Sony TV and ZVOX Sound bar was done together by the guy at Geek Squad who did excellent job setting up the whole entertainment system. But I believe it's simple enough. We used the Geek Squad because we also had them mount the TV. As per recommendation from the Geek Squad guy, we also bought a Rocketfish 8' 4K UltraHD HDMI Cable. With our TV, you need to make sure that the connection is set to 4K. The menu of the player is very simple. I am so used to with the PS3 menu and felt that the menu in this player looks very amateurish. It's a smart 4K blu ray player, so you can connect it to the internet. It has a couple of apps but I have not utilized any of it because the Sony TV is also a smart TV that has excellent choices of apps. I also programmed the Logitech Harmony 650 remote to work with this player. So far, we used the player to play 4K movies such as The Revenant and Everest and were really impressed. We also used it to play blu ray movies, which looked good as well. DVD movies, on the other hand, didn't look that good. But it's most likely because of the size of the TV, which is 75 inch. In the end, if you can't wait for more 4K players to be available like myself, this is a very decent choice especially if you can get it for around $200. For the sole purpose of playing movies (4K or Blu Ray), I am very happy with this player.

It is a very good 4k blu ray player I go it for 200$ and I have no regret with the quality of it
Pro: it has a good upscale and the interface is very friendly easy to use.
Cons: I hate the controller is too small and I like small control but this is too small. The player is a very loud playing a 4k disc and a large player too. It has a poor quality type of material.
Overall it's a very good 4k player for us the early adopter of this technology

Since this is one of only two true 4k players, it's really not much to compare it to. It does it's job of allowing you to view 4k movies and it has a pretty sleek exterior design. Price sucks though.

When Samsung released it's first Blu Ray player it was plagued with problems that caused the players image quality to be poor. The new UHD K8500 has a great 4K UHD picture and does a fine job upscaling 1080P Blu Ray discs. This ones a keeper. I have it mated with a Samsung JS-8500 with HDR and the player does a great job sending the HDR video information to the JS8500 and the results are stunning.

This is by far the nicest blue ray player I've ever seen. Beautiful design and great performance. It loads movies at laser speed and the Wifi option is great for software updates and streaming if your tv doesn't have it. I'll probably get another one soon for one of the other rooms.

I was put off from buying the ubd-k8500 for a while with the not so friendly reviews online, but after buying a 4k Hdr tv(sony 930d) i decided to go ahead with the purchase.
I have to admit im impressed, going from a ps4 as the main source of a bluray player(grainy) to this 4k player was a huge jump in not only picture quality but sound quality aswell.
The Samsung K8500 upscaling has given my Entire Bluray collection new life!
But 4K Bluray, The Revenant? Wow speechless.
I recommend this player to anyone who has a 4K HDR set, with High Bandwidth Hdmi cables of course.
set up was easy, plug ethernet cord & update first before messing with settings.
Everything worked flawlessly.

Let me say that I am a huge Audiophile/Videophile and I have some good feelings toward this player and some mehhhh feelings. First let me say it is VERY fast. Boots up in 2 seconds and opens apps just as fast. It also has adjustable settings to increase the brightness/contrast etc if you need a little extra boost. Comes with a separate hdmi out for audio only which is good if you don't have the newest receiver technology for 4k. The upscaling is great and really gets rid of the banding on normal video. Now for the not so good. I feel like the first initial buyers are the Beta testers for this unit. Theres a lot of little bugs that still need to be worked but its almost there.Great quality and upscaling and hopefully the future of 4k.

For the first UHD Blu Ray player ever released, I have to give it to Samsung for doing a nice job.
The M-Go app not recognizing a VIDITY drive is frustrating.
Looking forward to more UHD media being released.

This is a great device. The 4K feature allows the replay of UHD movies without upscaling. However, there is no display but the on-screen features make up for it. I would say the only thing I was hesitant about is the price. It's a bit pricey I think, but if you're into UHD video, then I think it's worth it.
You will need premium HDMI cables, 4K capable receiver and of course a 4K TV.

This is a good 4K player, but it suffers from the usual disc player issues such as slow load times and an unintuitive interface. But it's the first 4K player on the market so it's better than low res 1080!

The 4K Ultra High Definition DVD player is an outstanding player. Video is everything you want from the 4K medium. I only fault the remote. It's a bit small. Other than that, the lack of software could be a problem unless the studios start putting more movies in the 4K format. That is not the fault of the player. All in all, happy with the purchase and am looking to get another.

One of the only few UHD Blu-Ray players out there and it is great. Picture and sound are excellent. Of course the better 4K television you have the better the player will be. Played a few 4K movies and you can definitely tell a difference between regular Blu-Ray. The price is a little too high and I would only recommend if you have an expensive 4K tv to take advantage of it or else you probably wouldn't notice a difference.

There was a random deal of the day sale on this one, Got it for 200$, for the Price I couldnt say no. Great all around :) Design is simple, Its fast, havent had any issues with it. I mainly use it as a 4k streamer, much faster than my 4k tv. I Recently purchased power rangers UHD and loved every second of it. LIFE LIKE COLORS
