    It is good but...

The player is overall good but honestly there is nothing (that I know of) currently available in the US to compare it with. If you have the right TV, you will definitely be pleased with the picture quality. I rated this product as "average" for a few reasons. The first player I had literally died after a couple of weeks. It crashed in the middle of a movie and I was never able to get it operational again. I even tried to factory reset the device but it didn't help. The only usage I had of it so far was watching one and a half movie... It doesn't make me comfortable and I might end up getting an extended warranty from Best Buy. In regards to the player itself, it works as expected when you insert a movie and watch it but as far as I'm concerned the extra features and the overall quality is just ok. The user interface is laggy and the remote control is not great to operate. I would still recommend this player but with caution. It is early and more players will be available but this is a great entry price to watch 4K HDR movies today. According to other sources, Pioneer's player will be around $1000... As always, you get what you pay for. I hope it helps.

I must say that I was a bit worried about being an early adopter for this product, but as someone that likes to "beta" test I felt like I would give it a try. Speaking from the UHD Bluray perspective, I can honestly say its fantastic. After watching "The Last Witch Hunter" and seeing the wider color spectrum and blacks so deep that it looked like the pixels were turned off it has exceeded my expectations in that category. Based on that alone and the ease of setup and speed at which the disc loaded it is definitely worth of 5 stars. I will be doing some up-conversion testing on some of my standard Blu-rays also since my collection in that format has swelled over 600 titles, and the UHD releases are still forthcoming. I cannot wait for DC, and Marvel releases to hit the format also to allow it to shine really. As a person that works at one the largest ISP's in the country, I will also say physical media it is still the way to go until those pesky data caps are a thing of the past since I burned 80Gbs downloading the Martian from MGO in 4k HDR. Great job Samsung! Also added a pic of the home screen for those that are interested see attachment.

I am so happy with the picture quality on 4k movies and on the upscaling of blurays. Because it is such new technology, I recommend buying a 4 year extended warranty. Worth the price. That said, we have not had a problem so far with the DVD player. We use it with the Samsung JS8500, AWESOME TV. Enjoy!

This was the first and still practically the only Ultra HD Blu Ray player. It delivers gorgeous picture and sound quality. The price is ridiculous and will have to come down once more competing players come on the market. However, if you can't wait to put your new Ultra HD TV through its paces, there is, now, a nice selection of Ultra HD disks for this player. Amazon Prime, also, has some nice content at no extra charge. I don't understand why this player does not have an app for Ultraflix, one of the few purveyors of Ultra HD content. Many Samsung TVs have the UltraFlix app. There is no excuse for not offering it with this player.

Great picture, does a spectacular job of up-scaling old DVD's to a higher resolution, and Blue-Rays to a 4K resolution output. Integrates very well with TV, simple open disk tray and the player turns on the TV and switches to the correct input, and once you turn it off the player switches the TV back to the original input. An since it is a 4K Blue-Ray it will play a 4K Blue-Ray disk.

Loads fast. Includes samsung screen mirroring from samsung phone and tablet to bluray player. loads 3d , and 4k disc fast.those not using samsung 4k tv to connect your samsung phone or tablet. 4k works for netflix and amazon. Hdr for amazon not yet supported on bluray player but most 4k tvs that support hdr use their built in app. Hdmi port 2 sound output from bluray player does work with my hdmi switcher that has hdmi input and outputs sourround sound through coaxal cable which is easier than digital toslink from tv to sourround system.

I Love Samsung products because they are so easy to use unlike Sony! Everything you need in a DVD Player, from every format used for Pictures, Home Movies, 4K, Blu-Ray, DVD, 3D movies even your favorite music. It covers everything, so you don't have to worry if someone sends you a DVD and thinking will this show me the pictures of my Grandchildren. Just put it in the player and sit back and enjoy! It's that easy.

Have only used it a few times so far, but it really brings out the 4k, it also enhances regular dvds, very good picture quality, looks good, easy to use, and the price was very good. I purchase all of my equip. from Best Buy, TVs, audio, Iphone, DVDs etc. My next venture will be a security camera sys.

I updated my blu ray from Samsung 6500 4k upscale to Samsung 8500 full 4k . I have 5 4k movies so far. Exodus, The Revenant , Pan, The Amazing Spider Man and X-Men and there's a quiet difference on the picture and sound. These are the movies I used to test the quality of this player. I'm using Monster Black Platinum and Audioquest Chocolate for my HDMI's, and Audioquest Optical cable. For a better 7.2 use HDMI cable to a receiver for a better distribution of sound on each speakers.

As I looked at my DVD The Fugitive from the 1960s, I realized that this Blu-Ray brings out even the slightest details in those shows! So I put in a dvd from the 2000s, and it was breathtaking. One thing that also impressed me about this thing is how I put in a dvd bootleg from years ago, and it detected it! It had a paragraph that popped up every 2 minutes talking about how this Blu-Ray player is built to detect piracy made DVDs. At first, I was nervous because I thought I was being signaled by some higher authorities, LOL! But of course, with everything else, you can Google this issue and learn to put in a code to remove the flashing alert. And even on that token, I have to compliment how it even makes bootleg DVDs look like they were sold by Best Buy itself! In the end, I'm glad my 9000 series Curve TV 55-inch qualified to get this Blu-Ray thrown in for free, because it goes together perfectly. A curved Blu-Ray player with built-in WIFI ? Samsung's always thinking ahead. That's why them and Apple are neck ad neck every year.

With this connected to your 4K Samsung, how can you possibly go wrong? Makes old DVDs I have of 60s movies look like they come out yesterday. Converts anything to Blu-ray. Example: I watch Kojak, The Mod Squad, and the Fugitive all on this player and it enhances it on a deeper level. Just don’t try any burned CDs or DVDs, because this ones built to trace it and put a message up every 5 minutes. Trust me, I’ve already tried it.

UP-SCALES STREAMING CONTENT when TV wont

The player presents an awesome picture but I was going to return due to the price. Although my 4k TV allegedly up-scales, it doesn't and this player remedies the problem. While playing with this player, discovered it was up-scaling all the content not just DVD, it up-scales non 4k streaming applications. Although my TV has smart apps, using the player to watch Netflix, Amazon and Hulu. Cons: remote is slow and cumbersome. HBO application not available

Long review....sorry. First something most people don't mention that is important is their set up since most eyes and set ups are different. I am running the player to a 2015 65" LG UF8500 4k tv (not HDR) and the audio to a Sony MDR-HW700DS 9.1 surround wifi headphone system. It is replacing a Samsung BD-H6500 upscaling 4k player. I was happy with the old setup...I am VERY happy with the new one. 1. The bad. The remote is tiny. So what? There is ZERO separation between the UP arrow cursor key and the "Home" key. If you need to use the cursor keys frequently for any reason...Good luck and welcome back to the Home page. If not for the remote I would have given the player 10 stars out of 5. 2. The good. Everything else, even before my planned purchase of the Vizio P65-C1 with Dolby Vision etc. The separate HDMI out for audio is a blessing for anyone with an older non HDCP 2.2 "handshake" BS compatible audio system. I have played dozens of discs...4k and 2D and 3D movies and all have loaded quickly with no problems. 4K looked great and blu ray upscaling was amazing. I did not try any DVD's because....well...they are DVD's. Netflix and Amazon Prime Ultra HD streaming looked great and even upscaled content from Hulu/Showtime and HBO Now looked and sounded great. Bottom line. If you are in the market for a blu ray player and you have or are planning on getting a 4k HDR tv and/or you have a good but non compliant audio system you don't want to trash yet....buy this player.

I purchased a 4K SUHD TV in December, but did not have any way to play 4K movies. At first, I was concerned as this was the only player I could find available. Once I bought it, I have NO regrets. The set-up (Samsung to Samsung) was very easy and I was up an running without delay. I am absolutely blown away with the quality of the picture and the performance of the player. Definitely worth the purchase if you are wanting to get into 4K now.

Outstanding picture quality when used with an HDR TV. If you don't have an HDR capable TV, you won't get the full effect of 4K Blu-Ray. One minor complaint is the remote. When compared with new Samsung TV remotes, it just doesn't measure up to that standard. Not bad by any means, just difficult if you have larger hands. That's the only reason I don't give it 5 stars, because the player is amazing. I'm glad I bought this at the same time as purchasing my new Samsung HDR TV, together you can see a major difference over standard Blu-Ray players.
