Completely backward comptible - extra HDMI out if your received does not support 4K pass through and supports 3D Blu-ray. The only negative is that this does not support DTS:X. Samsung could not tell me if there would be a future update. Supports Dolby Atmos only through Bitstream Unprocessed. I think this is a requirement of this audio format. The downside to this is that Bitstream Unprocessed does not allow for second audio channels like director's commentaries. Very happy with the player otherwise.

    4K Blu-ray Player

Tried to wait for other 4K Blu-ray players to come out, being somewhat of a videophile I just couldn't wait anymore :-). I guess the question of the day is- Is it a lot better the 1080P Blu-ray, short answer 'No', is it a little better than 1080P Blu-Ray, 'Yes'. is it worth $400.00 'No' but if you want to be first on the block with the latest gadget, your gonna pay. If you can wait I recommend that you wait, either for a price drop or another brand (Sony, LG etc). But if you want a 4K Blu-Ray player, 4K Streaming, (Netflix, Amazon), other streaming media like Hulu, if you were thinking of getting separated boxes, then just get this, then the cost of ownership won't be as high.

I think the player has a great picture but is to big physically. I have the Samsung 65hu9000. The tv doesn't suppose the wide range color or HDR function which was a little bit of a let down. That with the evolution kit installed. It was a little bit difficult to find the player. Every time I would see it online and come back it would be sold out.

I have always had Sony components for my home theater system, but they have not as yet released an HDR Blue Ray, so I opted for this Samsung unit, and I was not disappointing. Easy to use, great picture, slim design. The only negative, which is not a fault of this unit, is it has limited remote compatibility with my other Sony products.

I purchased this player for 2 reasons. It was Samsung and it was the only 4K player available.Samsung peripherals work so well in a system of all Samsung it was a no brainier. I would have chosen this over any brand. Player works great. Remote is small but fine for all features. Overall, a 5 star.

Being the only player that plays 4K Ultra Blu-ray discs, you don't have a choice right now. The others only upconvert regular Blu-ray discs. An expensive lesson I learned after buying a Sony 4K player. It was much more expensive but after figuring out the menu, it works great. The remote is very small and hard to operate which I don't like, but am getting use to it. 4K Ultra discs are the way to go for the best picture.

The picture is clear and the colors are bright and crisp. The up conversion is amazing - we watched Star Wars on blu ray and I have never seen them look so good. The middle section of the remote can be a bit awkward, but you get used to it. Definitely recommend for any movie lovers.

I finally bought this player with my birthday money after it was sold out for weeks and waiting for months for it to be released. I have to say it's worth the wait. 4K discs look amazing, and it does a great job of upresing normal Blu Rays too!

I absolutely Love this Bluray player. Hooked up to my Samsung 4K TV the picture quality is incredible. It also will play 3D movies, only in 1080p. There will be NO 4K Blurays manufactured anyways. Upscaling is great too. You can choose to always output 4K or set it to auto, Many features that I wasnt even aware I wanted until I used them. I have recomended this Player to everyone. I Love it.....

The Samsung player is one of the first UHD Blu-ray player to hit the market. Nevertheless, its features has hold up over time and the price now days is a lot more affordable. Here is a breakdown of the pros and cons. Pros *Fast loading - Blu-Ray discs load up fast *Up-scaling - For old DVD movies the picture isn't quite as horrible as expected. *Good picture quality - Granted you could pay top dollars for an Oppo player, but I don't think the difference is that extravagant. *Two HDMI out - If you don't have a receiver with HDMI support, you can use one HDMI output for strictly video and use optical for Dolby Digital (though really you should upgrade your receiver by this point) Cons *Remote - One of the worse I have ever seen. It's very minimal and the buttons for navigation are way too small (a remedy is to buy or use a different Samsung Blu-Ray remote control). *No Dolby Vision - Samsung is very much against Dolby Vision, which is the other HDR standard. *No HDR support some apps - You can't watch HDR videos on Netflix, but you can on Amazon.

This is one of the first TRUE 4K players that doesn’t just upscale even though it does that as well. But I would recommend adjusting the settings of the player to your preference. Once you do BRUH!!! You will wish all your content could be in 4K. Keep in mind this is for those who care about 4K picture quality. Of course it has HDR support depending on the disc but I loaded The Martian to test it and man the colors look incredibly realistic and the sharpness is unparalleled to anything you’ll see on a stream. Even on Blu-rays it does a very nice job of upscaling the content but you can tell it’s not actual 4K. Overall if you catch this on sale or even open box grab a warranty to cover yourself and take it. Then invite friends over but be warned they’ll be jealous and want one too.

Video quality is good for a first to market product. Load times are fast and there are a lot of nice features. Netflix and YouTube stream full 4K. The only sticky point is the remote. It is very small and easy to hit the wrong button. I programmed mine into my universal remote and all was good. Enjoy the nice HDR image it does kick 1080p butt.

One of the better 4k Blu-ray players

This is a Blu-ray player that can not only stream in 4K, it can also play 4K Blu-rays. It does a great job on producing a sharp and crisp movie experience. It also plays 3-D movies and does that very well too. It also streams quite well, and it comes with the typical bundled apps (E.g., Vudu, with 3-D Vudu included, Netflix, etc.). The cost, at $399.99, is nothing special, however, BB has reduced the price on sale for just $199.99. At that price it's a steal! If it is back to its normal price when you look for it, and you can't afford that, just wait for BB, who will surely have it on sale again. It's really quite a good Blu-ray player that does it all.
