I am sorry to hear that you did not experience the full potential of the surround sound system.
Please know that by design, the surround speakers are supposed to simulate sounds happening behind the viewer. Therefore, most of the time the surround channels are only used for ambient sounds, which are naturally lower in volume.
However, there are a few settings you can change to adjust the surround effect to your preference:
1. Make sure that the source (e.g. TV output) is sending surround channels to the Soundbar. If the source is not surround, then set the Surround mode to OFF on the Soundbar by pressing the Surround button on the remote. 2. If the source has surround channels, select the desired Sound Mode from the Soundbar remote. Choices are STANDARD, MUSIC, CLEAR VOICE, SPORTS, or MOVIE. 3. Turn off Dynamic Range Control. This is done by pressing and holing the Sound Mode button while the Soundbar is in standby mode. 4. Increase the volume level of the surround speakers using the Sound Control button on the Soundbar remote control.
I hope these tips help to enhance your audio enjoyment.

With the sound bar you have to get rear speakers. Samsung have it going on. For a nice price you can rock! Hear EVERYTHING! For real! Put on stands or On wall or just on a nightstand end table. A must.

Our home is pre-wired, so it kinda misses the point. The receiver is wireless, but the speakers need to be wired to it.

These speakers are ok. Not powerful enough to notice unless you actually try to listen for them.

I picked up the hw-m550 sound bar and sub, and these to give it a little extra bang for the buck. I didn't realize that they would make it sound like a complete home theater system. The whole set up is amazing and pairing was a breeze, it was definitely a good buy.

Thank you for sharing your review of the Samsung SWA-8500S Loudspeakers.
Because the subwoofer is designed to pick up and amplify low frequency sounds, you won’t always hear it. To test if the sub-woofer is working properly, we recommend you play a Blu-ray or UHD DVD movie with plenty of explosions, and place your hand on the subwoofer. You should feel vibrations as the unit receives and transmits the incoming audio from the content. Another good test is to play music content with deep bass via Bluetooth connection, as it is not dependent on “effects” decoding.

I purchased these to upgrade my sound bar, and it was worth it. They aren't as loud as I would like, but once I figured out how to change the rear speaker volume on the sound bar it made this purchase a no brainier.

I got this when there was a promotion. I am currently using this rear speakers along with 3.1 sound bar and I do not have a single complain (I guess it really depends on how much you spent to purchase this item). Wait for a sale, then you wont regret it.

I bought these at the same time as I purchased the Samsung Sound bar and got an awesome bundle deal! Best Buy usually runs these as an add on and usually discount when purchased with a sound bar. Easy to pair and are great for music and movies!

These speakers work great for my system. The other reviews with the low volume issues has a lot to do with their setup. Had the same issue at the initial setup until I adjusted my surround sound settings.

Bought this unit to replace my Bose 321 series. Does not compare at all, But i knew it was not going to. Clarity of sound and the bass is average. Overall the sound bar gives you an average sound that comes with the price tag. Don't expect theatre quality sound for $499. It does not sound the way they had it set up at best buy, But good for the money.

Sal1842:
Thank you for sharing your review of this Rear Loudspeaker Kit. I am sorry that the sound quality at home is not what you experienced in store.
There are a few settings you can change to adjust the surround effect to your preference:
1) Make sure that the source (e.g. TV output) is sending surround channels to the Soundbar. If the source is not capable of surround, then set the Surround mode to OFF on the Soundbar by pressing the Surround button on the remote.
2) If the source has surround channels, select the desired Sound Mode from the Soundbar remote.
3) Turn off Dynamic Range Control. This is done by pressing and holing the Sound Mode button while the Soundbar is in standby mode. Depending on your soundbar model, you may or may not have DRC.
4) Increase the volume level of the surround speakers using the Sound Control button on the Soundbar remote control. a. For example, if you are connected to the Samsung Harman Kardon HW-Q70R, you would press the Sound Control button on the Q70R remote (looks like a gear), then select REAR LEVEL and use the Up/Down buttons to adjust the volume within a -6 to +6 range.
I hope these tips help to enhance your audio enjoyment.

Didn't pair with the samsung 430 that I bought at first, but once I figured out to push IN (not up or down) on the volume when programming, they linked right up. You will know what I mean when time to pair. Recommend it at the price point. Great sound.

Got these cheap as a package type purchase with a soundbar, and the only negative I have for these is I wish they were just a LITTLE BIT louder. They totally enhance the sound of the cheap sound bar, though, so definitely worth the price.
