Samsung tries to hornswaggle warranty callers

My speakers died after about 4-5 months (they were never that great anyways). I called into the warranty department and after about 20 minutes of talking to the agent, I got the distinct sense he was trying drag out the phone call by asking dumb or the same repeated questions so I would eventually give up and end the call. I get it - this way Samsung doesn't have to deal with refunds or replace defective equipment - very slimy way to conduct business.
As I write this I'm still on the call - the agent put me on hold again, I got nowhere with him in terms of resolving my warranty question. It was about 60 minutes and after multiple requests agent finally connected me with his supervisor.
The supervisor claims she is setting me up with a replacement at about the 69 minute mark. Interestingly, the original agent spoke of sending someone out to repair my speakers if necessary. But when I asked for a refund, the supervisor told me that all they provide is replacements. Interesting.
But now they're telling me since it was Open Box (I had texted in my receipt to start the replacement process), I'm out of luck. Maybe that really is the policy, hard to tell after 75 minutes of dishonesty. Plus, could have told me that in the first 5 minutes. I asked for a text of the policy and I got one, but maybe that was falsified too. But it does seem like a legit policy so I gave up.
In conclusion Samsung, I will never never again buy a product from you. I hear Sonos, Sony, Bose and many more make nice home theater equipment. I plan to be checking out those brands soon.

Worked great! Returned with the sound bar because they were the same brand. We chose a different brand for our main sound bar.

Not great sound but what you're really paying for here is wireless functionality. Sound is nowhere near as clear as the soundbar's.
Definitely an improvement over just having the soundbar but not really worth the price in my opinion. They do look nice though.

Even with the volume up all the way to 6 on the soundbar, hardly any sound comes out of these speakers. If they are right next you your ears, they are marginally ok, but at a distance of 5 feet away from the listener, they are quiet, pointless and worthless. The documentation (manual) is terrible and misleading. It says in order to pair it with the soundbar, you need to press the volume button, which is incorrect. You need to press the Mute button. Very disappointing from Samsung!

rgbcmyk:
Thank you for purchasing the Samsung Wireless SWA-8500S Rear Wireless Speaker Kit. I am sorry to hear that you did not experience the full potential of the surround sound system.
By design, the surround speakers are supposed to simulate sounds happening behind the viewer. Therefore, most of the time the surround channels are only used for ambient sounds, which are naturally lower in volume.
However, there are a few settings you can change to adjust the surround effect to your preference:
1) Make sure that the source (e.g. TV output) is sending surround channels to the Soundbar. If the source is not capable of surround, then set the Surround mode to OFF on the Soundbar by pressing the Surround button on the remote. 2) If the source has surround channels, select the desired Sound Mode from the Soundbar remote. 3) Turn off Dynamic Range Control. This is done by pressing and holing the Sound Mode button while the Soundbar is in standby mode. Depending on your soundbar model, you may or may not have DRC. 4) Increase the volume level of the surround speakers using the Sound Control button on the Soundbar remote control. Press the Sound Control button on the soundbar remote (looks like a gear), then select REAR LEVEL and use the Up/Down buttons to adjust the volume within a -6 to +6 range.
I hope these tips help to enhance your audio enjoyment.

The instructions that came with this equipment are not correct. It's like they are for a different system. When I went on line, it says that this is a common problem??? I still cant get them to sync with my Samsung sound bar -

When they work they're borderline serviceable

Unfortunately they don't work all the time and that is really noticeable. They are paired with a Samsung Sound Bar, a Samsung TV, in a 15 x 15 room. First thing is they are not really wireless - that is just the connection to the Soundbar. They are wired (with very cheap speaker wire) to a base unit that has to plugged in. They constantly lose connection, as does the subwoofer, When the sounds is there it is okay, but compared to a legitimate sound system you may as well have a sony walkman playing out of the old yellow headphone, Samsung service is no help, just wish I had motivated earlier to try and address the issue before the warranty expired. AVOID
