Not every Program or movie has surround sound. When I hooked them up, I got basically nothing from them. Then with one movie it was great, then nothing , then great. I am not sure they are working properly or they only work with surround sound DVD's and not so much with TV?

Please know that surround sound depends on the content. For example, TV news shows are only broadcast in stereo. Movies usually have surround, but not all.
You can set the soundbar to output surround by pressing the SOUND MODE button on the remote and selecting “SURROUND.” Each Samsung soundbar model has a table that shows what the output will be under each mode.
