The switch can only download a couple games at a time so a SD card is necessary unless you purchase the physical games. Great price when I purchased it.

As a digital game enthusiast, this is a must have in order to have all games in the console or in this case the SD, if not for anything else then for the convenience of not having to switch out game cartridges all the time.
