Easy Way to Transfer Windows and Apple Files

Makes it easy to transfer images and other files from Windows to Apple and back. Works like any other flashdrive except that it has both USB and Apple Lightening connectors built in to this one item. It's design is obviously innovative in that is is curved at one end. This curve creates a spring action that allows the Apple connector to bend a fair distance allowing the iConnect to mate with an Apple device even when the Apple is in a protective case. For non-Windows devices, must have the iConnect app installed.Windows does not need the app as it sees the iConnect as a regular USB flash drive. The app is moderately easy to use allowing copying or viewing files on the device you are connected to. Photos images can be copied then viewed on an Apple device even if the iConnect has been removed BUT documents such as DOC or PDF's can be read on an Apple device only when the iConnect is attached to the Apple. You can use the Apple to read the documents but they are actually stored and being read on the iConnect itself. You can choose to have photo images stored either on the device the iConnect is attached to or leave them and view them on the iConnect itself. This may be preferred if you want to view the same images on several devices. The iConnect is acceptably fast in viewing and in transferring. If you expect to store a lot of images etc on the iConnect, be sure to get an iConnect with enough capacity. The app settings allow automatic copy and transfer of an iPhone photo Camera Roll, or you can select to transfer only new images or manually select images for transfer. If you want to take photos on an Apple device but anticipate viewing them or transferring them to another device, or if the Apple is short of storage space, you can set an option to take the photo with the iPad or phone but have the images stored on the iConnect and not the phone. Of course this is possible only if you have the iConnect connected to the Apple device when taking the photos. If you want a tether cord for around the neck or to make the device easy to find in a backpack or drawer, look for the almost hidden cord connector on one side of the iConnect. A SanDisk employee did not even know the hook existed until he saw the cord on my iConnect. In summary, the iConnect is a nicely designed, easy to use gadget for anyone moving between Apple and Windows or even between two Apple devices.

Finally an Easy Way to Save iPhone Photos

Since I no longer use my point and shoot camera for photos and rely solely on my iPhone, I need an easy and reliable method to save/store all those photos. Sandisk has at long last solved that problem. Lat year, I bought the wireless version, but it wasn't convenient to use. This new Sandisk lightening flash drive is what they should have made all along. All one has to do is download the appropriate app, then open the app, plug the device into the lightening slot, allow it to access your photos and within 5 minutes all 1000 of my photos were saved. Note: Be sure to select the white "Do not delete" if you still want to keep them on your phone. The other end is the use slot which allows you to transfer them to your PC. I also used the usb drive to transfer many favorite personal videos back onto the device so I could watch them either on my iPad or iPhone. Definitely a must have device even with whatever cloud you use since you can be sure your media is saved safely and on a physical device.

Bought this to unload photos due to limited storage with iphone. Worked great the first two times and then stopped. most of the time when i plugged it in it would say "preparing content" and would not stop till i detached hard drive. Was unable to plug in and transfer photos using scandisk app. after reading comments on line some suggested opening photo album, selecting photos and then hit the sharing bottom. so rather than emailing photos to myself i looked for the ixpand icon. Tap this button and it comes up with "preparing" next tell ixpand which folder you want photos to be dropped. You can create your own if you need to keep track of photos. Photos are quickly transferred over. It's a slow work around but it does the trick. Also does your contact back up and can transfer photos or docs from flash drive to iphone. One feature that i do like is the ability to transfer video and photos directly to the flash drive. Click on camera icon in upper left corner of app. Camera starts working but you can only take photos or video. No slo mo, time lapse, square or pano. Everything is store on flash drive...

Great idea but software is a problem

I read about this memory stick on line and liked the idea of backing up my iPhone and transferring photos to my computer. Backing up the photos was easy and worked well. I only had a few photos so it did not take long. I have since read reviews that the transfer of large numbers is slow. My first problem was that the USB 3 plug would not fit in my USB2 socket on the front of the computer. There has never been a problem with other USB 3 plugs. I solved it by using an extension cable. I transferred the photos from the memory stick to the computer and opened them up in my photo browser app. The first thing I noticed was that the names of the photos had been changed from the IMG###.jpg set by the iPhone to a bunch of letters and numbers. I also noted tat the original photo date had been changed to the date of copying the photos. This was unacceptable to me. I filed a question on the manufacturers web site and heard nothing so I returned the item to Best Buy.

Almost a necessity for the 16GB iPhone

A few years back my mother in law wanted to get her first smartphone as she was the only one left in her circle of friends with a basic flip phone. She wanted an iPhone as everyone was sending pictures back and forth and discovering the internets. I recommended to my wife that we should get her the 64GB version to which she replied, "she'll never use that much..." Famous last words... fast forward to today, she snaps pictures of EVERYTHING and her phone is packed to the brim. This little drive gives her a way to automatically offload pictures onto it and she can easily dump them onto her computer when she gets home. The drive's software is simple to use and once setup it is literally plug and play. For those that have made the mistake of getting the 16GB iPhone 6 this will give you the breathing room you need.

I was looking for a way to store some photos off my phone to free space. I decided to try this, and it does what they say it does. I was able to save photos to the flash drive and erase them, BUT.... The thing I didn't like was the way the app is laid out is a little confusing. Also I didn't think of this when I decided to try this, when you save to the flash, erase the pic from your phone, then reinstall it back to the phone it is placed as a new picture. So if you like the location and other info that Apple attaches, organizes your photos based on, well you'll lose it. I tested the flash drive by finding a few random "I don't know why I kept this" photos from various points in my timeline. After transferring deleting and reinstalling them on the phone they were listed as the most recent photos and at my current location.

My phone storage was full and I was constantly needing to delete things in order to take more pictures. I did not necessarily want to just download them on my computer so after some research on the internet I found this little device. It's so easy to use. Just plug it into your phone and it asks you to download the Sandisk iXpand app. After that it's as simple as following the prompts. It transfers all photos, videos, and files to the USB drive and then have the option to delete off your phone what was transferred and saved. No computer required so this can be done anywhere or anytime. You can then transfer to another phone or computer. Great for travellers or for someone wanting to back up their phone, iPad or computer. You can even download movies to it and then plug it into your device to watch on the go. So glad I found this!

When my brother first told me about this product, I was skeptical. Despite being a tech addict even I had barely heard or saw anything about Lightning flash drives. With it being a relatively new product the price for early adoption is a bit high unless you can catch a temporary price drop. The free app you get to download after plugging it into the iPhone or iPad's lightning port is simplistic to use. I hope they intend on updating it over time with more features. One of the main issues I have is that (for now) the only data that can be moved from the phones are photos. When in the app you are able to take photos and videos and save them directly to the memory card, and you can move them over to the phone later.

I am not a tech person. I ride a Harley and have the Harley road planner app on my iPad. I use this app to plan road trips. I needed a flash drive, memory stick to transfer my ride from iPad to my motorcycle GPS system. Basically all this flash drive does is backup photos to free space on iPad. It did not even do this. After several hours it only it had only did like six photos. This product would never let me download ride, because it always busy doing the photos. I feel I wasted my money and will be able to get a refund, because opened it and try to use it. I feel like I told the salesman what I needed it and he assured me this product would do it. Oh well, live and learn

Finally a way to transfer with iTunes

This device has come in handy to many times to count. The is touted as mostly a way to transfer or backup pictures from your iPhone, but I have used it to back up documents such PDFs as well. The app is really simple and as soon as you insert the drive the phone ask you if you want to go to the app. From there it is easy to get your photos to you the drive and vice-versa. If you have a lot of photos it can be tedious to select only a certain few to transfer over, but you can select all and take all of them. Just be ready for it to take some time if you have 1000's of photos stored. Only downside is that when you select your images to transfer you can only see a thumbnail in the app. So if you have similar pictures you might need to transfer all of them then choose which one you want when you get it to a computer. Using it on a computer is the same as any thumb drive. Great product, I own two now the other is 64gb.

The flash drive is a great way to save space on your iPhone or iPad. I would give this product five stars except the software that SanDisk provides is not consistent between the iPhone and iPad. If you transfer a photo / video from the iPad to the drive it prompts you to delete the file off of the iPad. The prompt is not present when transferring files from the iPhone, this would be handy if it worked like the iPad. Also, the disk has the ability to create a secure folder, however, it is not intuitive as you have to establish the secure folder before you transfer any files. Otherwise, you will be happy knowing that you have a way to back up your photos and videos without being connected to a PC/MAC. The software provided needs to be revamped with a better user interface.

I purchased this item to free up storage on my 16GB iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2. I really like this item. Once downloading the app from the appstore, you can easily and quickly transfer photos and videos from your apple device to the USB drive and vice versa. I have used this USB drive to pull photos and videos off both devices I mentioned earlier, plus my wife's iPhone 6s and iPad Air. I now carry the USB drive with me when I know I plan on taking several photos to instantly free up space on my phone if necessary. It is also easy to store any other files from a computer on the USB drive just like a regular USB drive. One flaw and the reason for four stars versus five, I do wish the drive could store other files from the mobile devices than only photos and video(i.e., large apps such as games, movies downloaded from the mobile device, etc.).

I bought this on sale specifically to carry films/TV programs downloaded from Netflix or Amazon Prime to view on long airplane flights. After getting it home I did some reading (bad timing) and got concerned about whether it would work for me. I sent a question to SanDisk tech support. The rather quick response (a couple of days) essentially said there's coding in the files that won't let it work. I had hoped at the least to be able to copy from the thumbdrive to the correct place on the IPad and view from there. It seems that was not to be. Did not fill my requirements so I returned it. In theory it's a good external storage unit -- just doesn't work for my application. Three stars is for quick response to my question

My mother is the type of person who enjoys taking pictures of everything she sees. As a result, she ended up using all of the storage on her iPhone but refused to delete any old photos. Soon, she couldn’t receive any emails, texts, or take any more pictures on her phone, so I bought her this. She was back to taking pictures in no time! This product is easy to use. Simply stick it into your iPhone’s lightning port, download the necessary app, and once you open the app, it’ll prompt you if you want to transfer your photos. It was so easy that even my not-so-tech-savvy mother could do it! All I hope is I don’t have to get her another one of these any time soon...

I had seen this item be mentioned on various websites as one of the best iPhone USB flash drives around. I kept looking at reviews and for the most part I saw great reviews. That was it, I had to get my hands on one since my iPhone is always full and need to constantly delete videos, photos and even apps at times. With this item, you just plug it in, it'll inform you to download the needed app from the App Store and you can begin uploading. There's a setting to auto-upload each time you plug in the USB and it's great since the app knows which photos already exist in on the USB and only adds new photos. You can set a rule to delete all uploaded photos from your phone and this helps keep your phone's memory capacity high. I totally recommend this product to everyone.

I was hoping to store off my device the movies & music purchased via Apple's iTunes, and being able to play them back say travelling on a plane or that while not having Wi-Fi access. However, I've found out that Sandisk's App will not allow you to transfer onto it ANY music / movies that has Apple's DRM protection on it. Also, the fact any files / movies like for instance purchased via Microsoft can be transfered that has copy protection on it will also not allow you to playback via Sandisk's REEL App that can access that device from your Ipad/iPhone. So, basically this device is ONLY good for non-copy protected files and/or videos created originally on your Ipad/iPhone.

What it can do: This item does the job for photo storage when your iPad or iPhone's storage fills up. It is also excellent for transferring photos/files from your iDevice to a computer. What it can't do: You cannot download your iTunes movie purchases to this device and watch them. You still need internal storage available to download your iTunes movies. What could be better: The Sandisk app generally works okay, but is sometimes clunky. It sometimes takes multiple tries to move photos/files from your iDevice to the jump drive. Bottom line: It works for photo/document backup or transfer, and expands your iDevice's storage capacity, but it doesn't work "seamlessly" for all uses like your device's internal storage.

Performance is very good and the need for this product is also When you're running out of room on your iPhone you can't just insert a different micro sd card. So this is the next best thing. You can move some things onto it. or you can put data, mp3 music, photos on it and display or play them on your phone. It expands the use of your iPhone. The only thing I didn't like about it was the price. It is however a great device for people who aren't able to get a new phone or new iPhone that has more room. If you don't get a new phone this is a great solution and also even if you aren't going run out of room on your phone you can put a lot of stuff on this and use as an external drive.
