Yet another Great sleek device from Sandisk for USB C electronics. I used it with my google pixel slate tablet that has the USB c port. Tried transferring files over to the flash drive and it works super smooth. Tried it on a MacBook and the transfer rate is definitely much faster. I also like the way it remains secured with the help of open and close knob on the drive. 256 GB is great storage for a flash drive and I am going to be using this drive for the next few years. I have never had any issues with Sandisk flash drives in the past and I don’t expect to any issues with this one too. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.

This drive is awesome. It does literally everything and I didn't realize how much I really needed it. It's fast compact and has high utility. I've use it with my android phone with the app. Wow the app is good and quick. It makes it simple to find your documents, pictures, and videos in category and transfer them. You can use this drive for phone backup and storage with zero issues. I also love how I can just transfer my photos and videos to my PC at full resolution and quick. This is the utility drive I wanted but didn't realize I needed. If you have devices with USB C and need to transfer this is the drive for you.

    Ultra Storage, in a Flash

SanDisk is the brand I immediately think of when it comes to portable data storage accessories, and this Ultra USB Type-C Flash Drive quite simply works as intended. I was needing a flash drive to save my writing documents and photography images off my previous laptop, and this one did the job. Now I’m able to transfer them to my new laptop, or just use the flash drive as an additional “hard drive” (so to speak), leaving them stored on there to access as needed. Newer computers and mobile devices (like mine) are converting to the USB Type-C connector. As for this SanDisk Ultra’s storage capacity - 256gb should be sufficient, depending on what this flash drive will be used for. Transferring files from your phone, tablet, or personal computer to this flash drive, as well as, managing your stored data is quick and easy with the SanDisk iXpand Drive app (or Memory Zone app for Android). Plus, for additional security, you’re able to create an encrypted password-protected file vault using the SecureAccess software on your Mac or PC. All-in-all, this SanDisk Ultra USB Type-C Flash Drive is a good little device. The only ‘downside’ I’d say is that the slim plastic casing does feel rather “flimsy” and “cheaply” made. But other than that, it does what it’s designed to do.

Dont be fooled by the sleek form factor of this device. This thing packs a serious punch in terms of storage capacity and speed. The encryption software is a nice touch (although I haven' t used it yet). If you need to transfer large files on a frequent basis, you can't go wrong with this.

    Best Flash Drive - Period

The SanDisk Ultra USB Type-C Flash Drive is a speedy, futureproof flash drive with many nice features. First impressions of the device were how light and slim it was. Small form factor ensures it will not interfere with other nearby ports. A big fan of the USB-C connector as it is cross-compatible with a wide variety of newer devices and takes advantage of USB 3.1 speeds. Flash Drive is compatible with the SanDisk Memory Zone app which can easily manage and backup files on your mobile device and flash drive. Windows reports a total capacity of 233 GB whereas Android reports a capacity of 250 GB. A minor issue is that it is slightly harder to extend this flash drive than traditional ones as it is smaller and has more friction. Typically flash drives do not excite me – But this drive is Brillant and I am highly impressed! Overall, you can’t go wrong with this cutting-edge flash drive. I’ve had a few of these like I’m sure a lot of you have had. Obviously some of the info is that it’s a usb 3.0 with nice very fast transfer rate. Great for storage of pictures and documents and very easy to set up private password protected portion as well. As far as the design I really like the fact that it has a backside which you can grab to expose the usb type c connector portion. I also like this backside circular area as you can attach it to a key chain or on your backpack so it’s not lost. Overall not any negatives that I can say about this really just a great usb c drive.

Got the SanDisk Ultra 256GB USB 3.0 Type-C Flash Drive for transferring some files form my android smartphone to my computer since I was running out of internal storage. This drive worked perfectly out of the package. Downloaded all my old photos and files and transferred them to my computer. Beware some USB-C flash drives don't work on all phones. I can verify the SanDisk Ultra 256GB USB 3.0 Type-C Flash Drive works on a Samsung Note 9.

Always on the lookout for new storage solutions (after-all, I can never have enough storage!) I decided to give the SanDisk Ultra 256GB USB 3.0 Type-C Flash Drive a try. First, the drive itself is made of the usual sliding plastic enclosure. With such a (potentially) large amount a storage being on the drive, you would think that SanDisk would ramp up the physical protection of the drive. I get the feeling if it were dropped on a hard floor (thankfully my office is carpeted, and I am clumsy) that it might break or shatter one of the components. Why not metal? Or at least some sort of rugged polymer that would offer more protection? Oh well, it is what it is. Also, I can't see leaving this plugged in on a laptop that needs to be bagged, or even from a desktop that's in a heavily transited area. Plugging this drive in since it's USB 3.0-C I was expecting blazing speeds. At least what it said it could provide (150Mbps) at a maximum. Heck, I would have been happy with 125Mbps. Testing on a windows 10 desktop I got an average speed of 75Mbps. On a Fedora 34 cinnamon desktop, the performance increased slightly to 85Mbps. Neither of which, obviously, came anywhere near the promised speeds. Now to be honest about something that I think is a lot more prevalent than what the manufacturers realize. The first thing I do when plugging in a new drive is format it. This effectively wipes out any included software that comes pre-placed on the drive. The only time I use the included software is if it is a NVME or SSD "brand specific drive health" app. That's it. This would, at least one would assume, give the drive a "fresh slate" to perform better. But, in the case of this drive nada. Thinking that maybe the file system was the culprit I tried various systems (NTFS, etc.). I again tested on both desktops. No cigar. Still well below the advertised speeds. I was hoping to use the drive to install an OS to, to use as a portable setup. But with this performance, that would lead it to being impossibly sluggish. HOWEVER. If you are using this drive to simply backup - say - some photos or other important items, and then throw (well, don't throw it) in a drawer... Then sure, this drive would be for you. But if you are expecting this to be a "daily driver" type of storage solution, no-way-Jose. But one thing we all must remember is that flash drives (almost) always will underperform vs an SSD, NVME, or even some platter HDD's. So don't expect that just because the drive connects via a USB protocol that allows blazing fast speeds, that the drive will do so. In the case of the SanDisk Ultra 256GB USB 3.0 Type-C Flash drive, it does not deliver blazing fast speeds, or even the speeds the manufacturer says it will. Keep the above in mind. Especially the use case that you plan on using this drive for. For some, again, it will be just fine. So, I can recommend it only for long term storage that you will disconnect and store somewhere safe.

Been using this for sneaker net transfers and taking my most needed applications from machine to machine. I have portable versions of notepad ++, putty, psftp, etc I am using on different machines. Also have a virus scan to repair those evil doers who download these rotten viruses. I shall fire all my children. Wait isn't that a soap? Anyhow, this feels fragile in hand but is surprisingly durable. The sliding mechanism is wonky at best. It works but there is too much effort to get the darn thing to close. I have copied files from camera to laptop, from phone to laptop and most importantly fixed machines I banned from the network. Rotten kids. This is a nice device to add storage to a Chromebook or transfer files. especially if you have a usb-c to usb-a adapter.

I finally received my SanDisk 256GB USB-C drive today after it went on an extended 2 week rerouting to different areas and skipping over my state. And it couldn't have come at a better time as I'm in the process of removing a lot of my family photos from the likes of DropBox and other cloud storage sites. 256GB is a lot of space to hold photos, documents, and programs that you may need later instead of having to search for them again online. Copying files over to the SanDisk 256GB USB-C drive is very simple. Just drag and drop and that's it.

Now that USB-C ports are so common on Windows computers, Macs, and many smartphones, drives with a USB-C connector are great for backing up files from -- and moving files between -- a wide variety of devices. That’s why I was excited to give this SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 flash drive a try. As far as functionality goes, this flash drive does what it’s supposed to do. I was able to use it to read and write files on a Windows computer, a Mac, and my Android phone easily and quickly – just plug in and go. I am getting read speeds that are at or even a bit higher than the 150 mb/sec that SanDisk advertises for this drive. Write speeds have generally been between 65 and 75 mb/sec. To put that into real-life terms: I have a 10-minute FHD/1080p video that I recorded with an action camera (1.45 gb). I copied it to the SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 flash drive in about 25 seconds, then copied it from there to another computer in about 10 seconds. Overall, these seem pretty fast for a flash drive, and are certainly good enough for me, although I know there are (and more expensive) options out there on the market. Another good thing about this flash drive is the compact form factor. It’s narrow -- just a bit wider than the USB-C connector itself – so it should fit into ports even when the neighboring one is occupied by something wider. This drive is also very lightweight. That could be a good thing, but for me it just drew attention to something I don’t like: The outer housing of this drive is plastic, and feels very thin and delicate. It doesn’t give off a rugged or durable feeling at all. Since it will mostly live in a small compartment of my laptop bag, I’m hoping this won’t be an issue for me. Despite the loop for attaching to a keychain or lanyard, I would not be confident keeping this drive in my pocket, on a keychain, or anywhere else it might get bumped around often. Another thing that’s disappointing is the slider to retract the USB-C connector when it’s not in use. When I first got the flash drive, the mechanism was downright difficult to use. It didn’t glide smoothly at all. Instead, it sort-of stuttered along as I held the drive firmly with one hand and forced the slider button down and over with my other. Now, after a few days of working it in, the slider seems to have loosened up a bit. I can at least extend and retract the connector using one hand, but it still feels like I’m having to apply way too much force to a device that feels so delicate. Overall, this is a fast, functional flash drive stuck in an unfortunately mediocre shell. If you don’t mind a thin plastic housing and a slightly hard to use slider, it could be a decent option. I personally would have preferred something that had external construction that was as good as the internal electronics.
