It was defective from the factory and the internals were interfering with the female connector. It's now crystal clear and frankly, disturbing that SanDisk (or their supplier) are not testing these flash drives during their quality process.

Solid Flash Drive

It is solid and makes me feel like it will never break. I have been very pleased with it after using it for a month.

Worked great until last week it could not be accessed anymore. Was working one minute; not the next. Had my company's IT experts look at it since I had work info on it and even they could not retrieve it. Said the drive was locked into some kind of loop and the only way they knew to possibly retrieve the data was to have someone with forensic capabilities get into it. Never had this problem before with any of the multiple flash drives I have used but once is enough to make me cautious about using SanDisk again. Replacing it with a PNY.
