Thanks for reaching out. You are right. If you have a smaller streaming device like the Fire Stick, you won't need the streaming device panel. This is product is intended for larger devices like an Apple TV.

Not Apple TV friendly

Thanks for reaching out to us. What generation Apple TV do you have? If you have the 4th generation Apple TV this should work just fine without the line of sight. If you have an older generation, they used IR remotes which won't work if you can't see the device. Your older generation Apple TV will still work without line of sight if you use an Apple device. Hope this helps!
