This is perfect with my new 15" MacBook Air. It does not BLOCK the MagSafe Charger, and only uses one of the two USB-C ports. MANY OTHERS DO!!! MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE COMPATIBILITY! Getting this with the MacBookAir literally saved me hundreds of dollars. I thought I was going to need to buy a MacBook Pro to have any useful ports. Highly recommend this.

Overall love the design and sleek metal look. And the right amount of ports for traveling or tooling around the house. Major drawback is the upload speeds. I have gigabit fios ethernet; while the download speed (~700-800mbps) is closer to normal (~900mbps) the upload speed is frankly atrocious, ~1-50mbps, a very noticeable difference. I have to use my desktop usb-c hub to do my uploads, fwp. Otherwise solid product. Highly recommended if faster upload speeds are not necessary.

In my used case I just kind of have it taped behind my monitor and I never really touch it, even when it’s really hot it keeps working and every time that I’ve touched it to move the monitor it has been hot so that’s normal

Works great to connect the monitor to be able to extend the screen and my old usb mouse. Thinking I will affix it to the desk so it doesn't get pulled behind by the cords when unplugged. Price is much less than other alternatives!!

Best one I could find with an SD card and ethernet port for the price. I have been using every port on it pretty much every single day since I bought it, and I haven't experienced any problems whatsoever!

Works better than much of the inexpensive competitor devices. USB-C, with all that I needed for a Lenovo Yoga 730-15” laptop, with USB-C and USB-A/HDMI; but, without Ethernet (NIC) connection. Problem solved.

I am very pleased with the size of this adapter. I previously purchased a single network only adapter that was larger than this slim model and promptly returned it upon seeing this lightweight multi-function adapter. The color size and weight sold me. It fits nicely in my laptop sleeve.

Purchase this one because I needed it for the new Apple M1 laptop that basically needs another gadget to function. With the HDMI cable plugged in, this can get really hot to touch. Everything else works fine.

Worked great at first. After using it for a few months it now works intermittently, which makes it useless. I think it is because the connection at the usb c end is "kinked".

My main goal was to use for a 3 display setup, utilizing the laptop display and two HP 23” 1080p displays. My laptop supplies one HDMI output and the Satechi 7-in-1 supplies the other. For my daily use the Satechi definitely has me covered for whatever I need. The plus is it helps me condense my accessories since it has an ethernet port as well; I won’t need to carry that separate accessory. Just using the HDMI port on the adapter the aluminum housing has a warmness to it. Not hot, but noticeably not cold either. Some things you need to consider: -USB-C port is Power Delivery only (meaning it is only for charging), it cannot be used as a Display Port or Data Transfer. So if you are needing the USB-C port to be more functional, you may need to look for another adapter to meet your needs. Product page states it can handle 60W charging...this would be INPUT. It does not state that, but Thunderbolt 3 spec INPUT is 100W, but OUTPUT is 15W to USB peripherals. So, if your laptop only has 1 USB-C port and it is used for charging, then the Satechi 7-in-1 will allow you to use the USB-C port for charging. -Make sure you have good HDMI cables. Some older ones I had laying around would not work with the USB hub, even though they worked with my HDMI port on the laptop. I have Monoprice 4K cables and they worked just fine. -USB-A ports do not support charging or CD readers, including Apple SuperDrive. We recommend connecting one bus-powered device at a time. That last point is copied directly from the manufacturer product page. So it can be taken as you cannot use a CD reader or charge via USB-A. Also, don’t use more than one bus at a time. I am not too sure about all of that because if you can tell in my pic I have four ports being used and I am not having any issues and the device did not gain much warmth over what I noticed when just using the HDMI port for 3-display setup. Four ports being used: 1. Ethernet 2. USB Flash Drive 3. USB-DVD Writer 4. HDMI Now, I am not outputting anything 4K, and was only moving small folders of ~250MB at a time, while playing the DVD, streaming audio, and typing this in Google Docs. So not sure if Satechi is trying to cover their butts here or what? If indeed they only recommend using one powered bus at a time...HDMI, Ethernet, Micro/SD, USB-A, USB-C...then why buy this 7-in-1. I have used countless hubs in the past that didn’t have these limitations. You’ll have to decide for yourself on how you use your device and maybe their recommendation is based on what type of USB-C port will be supplying the hub. I listed my below, so if yours is less, then maybe it will put more strain on the hub and then run into overheating or reliability issues. The recommendation still makes me scratch my head if this thing can take up to 60W input though...which input and output are not equal, but it still has to be designed to take the heat of 60W input. Again, decide for yourself. I can confirm it won't do data transfer via USB-C, may laptop showed charging via USB-C 65W adapter (tested after taking the pic), but I also could not get it to charge my phone. So it would appear that the USB-C Port on the hub is for INPUT charging only. My setup: -Asus ROG Zephyrus G14: USB-C 3.2 with Power Delivery, DisplayPort, and G-Sync -MonoPrice Slimline HDMI 4K cable -Dual HP 23” 1080p Monitors -LG Slim DVD-Writer -Sandisk Cruzer 8GB USB 2.0 I don’t have any complaints on this device. The aluminum chassis is nice and the Space Gray looks good. It being very slim and streamlined it definitely fits into a bag easily. For cable management I kind of wish the HDMI port was on the other side, just to clean-up the wires and give a little more spacing on the side, but its meant for productivity and it does do that.

While MacBook users have complained about the USB-C only designs, it's migrated to Windows Laptops and Notebooks as well. Gone on the many new compact designs are the standard USB ports which allow connecting USB mice, keyboards, ethernet adapters, etc. The Satechi USB Type-C Slim Multiport Adapter attempts to solve that issue by offering a USB adapter that provides gigabit ethernet support, two USB 3.2 interfaces along with a USB-C passthrough for charging, SD card slots and even a 4k HDMI port. This well-made hub sports an elegant looking aluminum design that includes everything you might need in a compact form factor, allowing you to carry only one dongle to support all your accessories. For me this is a must-have accessory for anyone with a compact laptop/notebook. My only complaint is that the cable could be longer.

    Premium Multiport Adapter

This multiport with Ethernet adapter is excellent and contains the ports most frequently used. When I use my laptop at home or work, I use ethernet because I want a fast and more stable network connection. This hub has high throughput, and it was designed this way to connect many devices at once. Surprisingly, I haven't encountered any performance issues when I use this multiport at home, work, and on the go. It is excellent for transport, is small, lightweight, very thin, made of aluminum, and solidly built without any misaligned ports. The build is extremely premium and looks like it will not break very easily, which is good if planning to use it everywhere. The ports are all spread apart to leave enough room to plug thick cables/connectors. A tiny LED light lights up that lets you know the hub is getting power (in use). The HDMI slot allows up to 4k at 60hz support, and it works as expected. When working at home, I connect my monitor to the hub to extend my laptop display. The USB-C pass-through power (60 watts) feature is great for devices that use type C power cable, and the setup would be to plug the computer power cable into the hub's type C port which the power will go through the hub into the computer. When using the pass-through power, the hub does get warm, but not extremely hot. I have used all of the ports at once and did not notice any decrease in performance. Note that it can handle only one portable hard drive at a time. Overall, the performance of this hub is excellent and contains all of the standard ports you would need to connect to a computer.
