I bought 2 of these to add onto my Mac Mini M1. This offers the expanded Thunderbolts that I need. Took it from 2 to 6 Thunderbolts and adds a USB 3.2 option also. I have 51TB worth of storage that runs amazing. Well done Satechi!

This thunderbolt hub is very well made and I do love the slim design. It is compact and lightweight. The actual power supply is heavier than the device. It has 4 thunderbolt ports total, one has to be connected to the host laptop leaving you with 3 available slots. There’s also 1 USB3 port on the front. The silver color and bold curves makes it look fancy and modern. This will be a perfect match to silver color laptops and Macs. All thunderbolt ports provide power and are capable of powering a laptop with 60W. I connected to my alienware even after getting a warning it was able to power it (not recommended). I did that just to test, eventually I went back to using the dedicated power brick. I tried to test if the hub could work by being powered with the laptop alone but it didn't. The hub has to be powered by its own power supply for it to work. You must connect the hub to the laptop using the port on the front of the hub, connecting to the back will not recognize the device. It works like a charm and the data transfers speeds are close to what they advertise. This thing is able to support 2 4K monitors @60hz and 1 at 8k. The fact that thunderbolts are compatible with USBC means you don't have to worry about getting different types of cables. I would have preferred the ports layout to be in the reverse way, the extra ports on the front and the laptop port in the back. The way it is now it is kind of awkward if you try to position the hub next to or in front of the laptop. A side of that I do love the device specially that slim design. Overall this device will do the job extremely well and with its slim and modern design makes it easy to carry. With 4 additional ports 3 being thunderbolt and USB you can’t go wrong. In the box you get a hub, power brick, thunderbolt cable, and manual.

One hub to rule them all

It all comes down to this one hub, literally, at least in the way I've been using it. Between my home office, work office, two laptops, several monitors, and external devices, I have to deal with a lot of cables. In fact, more cables than my laptops can deal with, as neither my linux work machine nor my personal MacBook Pro have enough ports for them all. To complicate things even further, when working out of my home office, I use the same external monitors and devices for both laptops, which means there's a lot of swapping cables around. Prior to getting this Satechi Hub, I had a usb switching hub for my external devices to make it easier to go between using my work and personal laptop. Additionally, my work laptop required an additional hub. As for external monitors, I didn't have a good solution, so it was either try not to get confused moving those cables around, or just use dedicated monitors for each laptop. I chose the latter, so of my 3 external monitors, 2 are used solely by my work laptop and the 3rd by my personal laptop. Then came along this Satechi hub and it completely changed the game for me. I'm still using the usb switching hub along with the additional hub I needed for my work laptop, but now they're all chained together in a way that when switching laptops, I only have to swap the one single host cable from the Satechi hub between laptops. This means that I now get to use the same 2 external monitors and not just the external devices on both laptops. As an added bonus, I can even use my 3rd external monitor as well, giving me 4 screens to work with! Since my home monitors consist of only one 4K capable monitor and 2 full HD monitors, I also took this hub with me to my work office, where all the monitors are 4K. Plugging 2 external 4K monitors into the Satechi hub, with one of them chained through another hub, has both monitors running at full 4K resolution with no issues whatsoever. But that's not all! The host cable also powers the laptop and recharges it! It even does so on my MacBook Pro which has the MagSafe charger, as it'll still take power through the thunderbolt 4 port. This means, that with just one single cable plugged in to either of my 2 laptops, they are running 2 external monitors, a keyboard, a mouse, a streamdeck, an external storage drive, AND powering it all! When I say powering it all, I mean it. I'm not always using my external storage drive so when I'm not, it leaves an open port. So I plugged my iPhone into that open port instead, and it not only worked as an additional device, but also charged my iPhone too! Speaking of external storage drives, I have several that I'm always using to manage all the video files I have from being a content creator. Transferring files through this hub was just as fast as having the drive plugged directly into my MacBook. The Satechi hub is honestly amazing on its own, but add in the fact that you can chain other hubs into it and the possible configurations you can set up are almost endless. The only thing left to add as far as function goes, is that it all really is plug and play. No software is needed, I just pulled this hub straight out of the box, plugged everything in and it just worked. It's not all about function though. As soon as you pull it out of the box you can feel the quality of the build. It's a solid, but slim, unit with sharp edges, although almost too sharp honestly. The edges have a similar sharpness to them that you would feel on an ice-skating blade. The other thing you'll notice when you pick up the package is how heavy it is. Yes, the hub itself has a good weighty feel to it, but it's the power brick on the cord that is really surprising. While the hub is slim and easily portable, the same can't be said for the power cord. Normally I'd say that's a bad thing, and on it's own it is, but when you consider the fact that this hub will power your laptop AND a phone (and even more), it's no longer such a bad thing. So if portability is a concern, know that having this one power brick means you don't have to lug around your laptop charger, your phone charger, action cam charger, etc. The cords will be all you need. Overall I couldn't be happier with this hub. Even though it seems a bit pricey, and it definitely is the priciest hub I have, after using it and seeing all that it's capable of, I have to say it's worth the price.

TL;DR: 1. I used the Satechi Thunderbolt Slim Hub 5 in 1 for about 2 weeks 2. SETUP very easy (turn off the power to everything, plug in, turn on 3. Usability is easy 4. The quality, durability and size are excellent 5. TRANSPORT/CARRY is easy when needed 6. I would buy it again This is almost perfect. I have been using the Satechi Hub for about 2 weeks. Prior to that, I was using a full sized hub from Best Buy. It is a 13 in 1 competitor, but didn’t have the same specs and didn’t function the way I needed. It also was wider than my MacBook Pro 14 and would get in the way of things on my desk. It also look just a shade too large. It worked fine, but the specs weren’t quite there. The Satechi Thunderbolt Slim Hub: Pros * Works and functions well * There is no delay with my external monitors (4K, 60 Hz) * Durably made with its aluminum shell * It matches the look of my MacBook * Is small and minimalistic * It looks good on my desk; and * Is easy to travel with Cons Three things that make it “almost perfect,” but not quite there. Neither are deal breakers * I wish is would have more available ports * This is more of a want than a con * To include at least one HDMI to USB-C cable and/or converter to use right out of the box * I would like to see a cord management system * The majority of the cables are coming out of one end, while the charging cable is coming out of the opposite side * If it were maybe an inch wider, all could come out of the same end * Or have the charging cable come out of one of the sides * This choice is less optimal, as some may want it on the right and others on the left, depending on the location of the computer on the desk, while commuting, etc.

As a tech enthusiast and a professional who relies heavily on various devices, this Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub has become an indispensable part of my daily routine. The first thing that struck me about the Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub was its sleek and minimalist design. It perfectly complements my Mac Studio, blending in seamlessly with its aluminum finish. The hub is compact, lightweight, and incredibly slim. The build quality is top-notch, with a solid aluminum casing that feels durable and premium in hand. Rubber grips on the bottom ensure that it doesn’t slide around on the desk. This hub offers a wide array of connectivity options, which is a lifesaver for professionals and creative individuals. With three Thunderbolt 4 ports and one USB-A port it covers all my needs. I have 5 external SSD drives that I use for various projects, so my Mac Studio’s four built in Thunderbolt ports were all used and therefore I had to also rely on the Thunderbolt ports on my Studio Display monitor. This Satechi slim hub expands my Thunderbolt 4 ports by three allowing me a little breathing room for future Thunderbolt devices I may want to connect. The Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub truly shines when it comes to performance. I've used it for transferring large files, connecting multiple external Thunderbolt monitors, and charging my devices simultaneously, and it handles everything flawlessly. The data transfer speeds are lightning-fast, and I've experienced no lag or drop in performance when using multiple ports simultaneously. One concern I had with slim hubs in the past was heat management, but the Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub pleasantly surprised me. It doesn’t heat up much, even during extended use, thanks to its efficient thermal design. I no longer have to worry about overheating issues that can affect both the hub and my connected devices. In conclusion, the Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub has become an essential part of my tech setup. Its sleek design, robust build quality, wide range of connectivity options, and exceptional performance make it a must-have accessory for anyone seeking to expand their device's capabilities.

The sleek design of this Thunderbolt Hub is one of its main benefits. A lot of Thunderbolt Hubs and Hubs in General can be too bulky. Taking up what little desk space you have. The Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub is NOT that. It has a premium feeling design with an amazing grayish color. Thunderbolt and USB-C is being incorporated more and more with its faster speeds. Having extra ports is always a benefit. Even more when they are thunderbolt ports. The setup is quite simple. Plug it into a wall outlet and plug the Thunderbolt 4 connection into your Thunderbolt 4 device. If you want a multiple monitor setup. You can get that with this Hub. You can get up to two 4k 60fps outputs with this device. You also get a USB-A port which is fast. My Samsung Flash Drive Fit USB devices were both recognized. Speeds were very much acceptable when loading from the device. There is still some confusion if a device has Thunderbolt or USB-C. I know the difference since I'm Symbol Literate. I even tried this on a device that doesn't have Thunderbolt. It has just the standard USB-C Gen 2 10 GBPS with Power Delivery and it worked. It recognized my external SSD. Now will I get faster Thunderbolt speeds? No, but it does give me an extra option. Way to go Satechi! The only Con is who is using 3 Thunderbolt external devices? Most people use 1-2 outside of a Major Business Professional setting. Still, this is a great lightweight, minimal, and portable Hub.

Pretty much all the new laptops suffer with the problem of not having enough ports to connect peripherals. As a result, these kind of hubs have become a necessity. But finding the right one is no easy task. I have tried many and have been disappointed due to one issue or another. Here comes the new hub from Satechi and boy, it works!! This so far has been the easiest hub setup that I have worked with and the performance, oh my (more on that later)! The hub is made of aluminium and has a slim, sleek design with matte grey finish. It doesn't take much desk space. One slight disappointment is the power adapter that comes with it. It is bulky and makes the hub not all that portable. There are 3 thunderbolt 4 (TB4) ports on the back and one TB4 port on the front along with a USB-A port (10 Gbps). The front TB4 port can be used only for receiving power and data. It has a bandwidth of up to 40 Gbps. The TB4 ports on the back allow daisy chaining and you can connect up to 6 devices in total. As TB4 provides bandwidth of up to 40 Gbps, the performance of this small hub is super fast. I have been able to connect 2 4K monitors and an external SSD drive. The real fun part is when you can move large files (~10 GB in my case) in few seconds! So overall, if you are looking for a hub to make up for the lack of ports in your laptop, you should definitely consider this one. The price is right and it works really well.

TLDR: If you need a well-built Thunderbolt / USB-C hub, this should be on your list, it doesn’t get much better. INTRODUCTION Sadly, it is nearly impossible to tell these days if your PC or MAC has a Thunderbolt port or a regular USB-C style port. The connectors are the same and are for the most part, interchangeable, but the Thunderbolt port is like a USB-C port on steroids. Most Thunderbolt enabled USB-C ports on a laptop or desktop are identified with a single lightning bolt next to it. Unfortunately, there isn’t a universal or mandated identifier, so having Thunderbolt functionality built-in to your computer can be a bit of a hit or miss when buying a new machine, as I have USB-C ports that can receive a charge via the hub as well as USB-C hubs with no identifiers on them, that are in fact Thunderbolt ports. Ugh. WHAT CAN THUNDERBOLT DO? Like I said earlier, the Thunderbolt port is like a USB-C port, but on steroids. USB-C aims to be a universal connector for your computer. It can accept a large variety of peripherals and devices. Mice, keyboards, external HDD’s, external NIC’s, etc. A Thunderbolt can do all of that, but increases the data throughput of USB-C from 20GB/s to 40 GB/s. This huge increase in throughput allows a Thunderbolt to do everything a USB-C port can, but can also do things like charge your laptop and push 4k video to multiple monitors, all of it on the same cable. It is awesome when it works, frustrating if you think you have a Thunderbolt port and only have a USB-C port. SATECHI HUB This hub is built like a proverbial tank. Not expecting the heft, I nearly dropped the box first time I picked up. The power supply for the hub is bigger than my 45W power supply for my Dell 2-in-1 and almost as heavy as my Aorus 230W power supply. Add to that, a solid chunk of aluminum for the hub and you get quite a weight penalty, this would be especially noticeable if travelling. However, with that weight penalty, you also get one of the best made hubs I’ve ever seen. I have tons of USB hubs from almost every manufacturer. NONE of them are made like the Satechi. This is the sturdiest hub I’ve used to date. This is as simple of Thunderbolt hub as you can get. You have the hub with 5 ports. One of those ports is for connecting to your PC and charging it, if you have a laptop, along with 3 other USB-C / Thunderbolt ports on the back and a lone USB-A 3.0, 10GB/s port. That’s it. Nothing more. No Displayport, no HDMI, no Ethernet, nothing. PERFORMANCE When I finally figured out which of my computers have a true Thunderbolt port, the Satechi worked great! I was able to charge my laptop, hook up an external HDD, and push 1440p video to my 2 external monitors. The Satechi never broke a sweat with anything I asked of it. Honestly, it never even got more than just slightly warm to the touch, even when charging a nearly dead laptop. That huge chunk of aluminum did a great job of dissipating heat. NEGATIVES Not a negative against the Satechi, but it is hard for people to understand if they have a true Thunderbolt port or a USB-C port. I too, found it odd and confusing. The Satechi worked great on my Thunderbolt enabled Aorus. Anything I plugged in was immediately recognized and I had zero fuss. However, my Dell 2-in-1 failed to notice the hub existed. The Satechi charged my Dell without issue, but the laptop (with a USB-C port) failed to recognize the hub, or any peripherals attached to it. My work Dell had no issues whatsoever, even though it is a USB-C laptop and not a Thunderbolt. Success can be extremely hit or miss. FINAL THOUGHTS Whether you have a USB-C computer or Thunderbolt computer, this hub should be on your list when shopping. It is made better than any hub I’ve ever used and works flawlessly with the right laptop, PC, or MAC. Having 1 single cable attached to my laptop that can everything I ask, is awesome. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The Satechi Thunderbold Slim Hub 5-in-1 is the type of device you don't realize you need until technology sneaks up on you. I've upgraded enough of my devices in the last year or so such that I find myself with more USB-C/Thunderbolt needs than "standard" USB. I have 3 laptops varying from 4 years to two months old and also work in multiple environments which means multiple monitor connection situations, data transfer predicaments, and several accessories. The manufacturer states a bandwith capacity of up to 40GBps. I can't confirm, but I won't argue. I run a relatively large 8k monitor in one scenario and two, also large, 4k monitor in another. My laoptop used to get all choked up (don't get me wrong, I know the video processor also plays a role). To date, I have fewer glitchy moments with the Satechi. With three Thunderbolt 4 ports that also provide 15W power, I can charge my phone and tablet and also run a light or non-SSD storage device. Additionally, a USB-A port keeps me connected to legacy devices. Finally, and this is huge for me, the Satechi provides up to 60W of power to my laptop- sparing me carrying TWO power bricks. It's a nice looking piece of equipment. Hefty in build quality, but not too much of a burden in the backpack.

    ## Design The Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub definitely lives up to its name: it's a thin, silver brick that blends in nicely with my desk. There are 3 Thunderbolt USB-C ports on the back, and there is one on the front that connects to your laptop. There is also a "regular" USB port on the front that I wish was also on the back for a cleaner look, but it does make it convenient if you have to occasionally attach a flash drive (less attractive if you need to plug something into the USB-A port permanently). The hub is powered by its own sizeable power brick that is separate from the dock, so you can thankfully hide it away under your desk. Normally, some users will frown on a power brick like this, but one of the benefits is that the wall plug is regular size and doesn't block other outlets. ## Performance The Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub performs great and delivers the "one cable connection" we all long for to instantly transform our laptops into desktop computers. It easily delivers video to my ultrawide monitor via a separate Belkin USB-C hub with HDMI, since this dock doesn't have an HDMI port on it. It also connects my keyboard and mouse, my Stream Deck, and my external hard drive, all while still delivering a charge to my M1 Macbook Air. I did a speed test with an external hard drive connected to the hub, and found that it only takes a small performance hit compared to connecting it directly to the laptop. ## Summary Overall, the Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub is a great solution if you have mostly Thunderbolt 4/USB-C devices, a Thunderbolt dockable laptop like the M1 MacBook Air, and a monitor with a Thunderbolt input (or an HDMI to Thunderbolt/USB-C adapter). If you have a lot of USB-A (the original, rectangular USB) devices, you may want to do what I did and compliment this with a USB-C hub with more USB-A ports.

Satechi - Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub: Does my review title suggest I’ve set the success bar too low for this Thunderbolt hub? Sorry. But you must not have tried buying and using these necessary devices before. Thunderbolt hubs can be very frustrating, often having quirky problems, or failing at the easy stuff, or not delivering the speed or adequate power. The Satechi is a serious alternative that works. With a total of 3 Thunderbolt 4 ports for adding peripheral devices (with another port for both power and/or data to/from the computer) this a potent device. It has no quirks I could find, it works well with my high speed devices, and I daisy chained my less capable hubs behind it to manage other less demanding peripherals. Everything works. SETUP: My MacBook Pro M1 (2021), with an LG HDR 4K display, a SanDisk PRO-G40 SSD 2TB External Thunderbolt 3 storage, plus a Hyper - DUO PRO 7-in-2 USB-C Hub connecting to an external keyboard, mouse, and a pair of special purpose WD 5TB USB 3.0 DRIVES and my Gig ethernet connection to my ISP. I’m not sure what each devices’ power demand is, but each port delivers 15W and everything is performing fine. I wish my photo of my connected Satechi was prettier, but connecting wires can be an ugly business. The connectivity provided by the Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub allows me to hide most of my connections below the counter, below where my laptop, keyboard, mouse and secondary 4k screen are alone, sitting neatly arranged. PERFORMANCE and CONCLUSION: That sleek looking hub, sitting in the now opened box, seems almost as heavy as my laptop (it isn’t), but it is solidly built. Picking apart the packing material reveals the power brick behind the power of the Satechi. It’s not light (0.6lbs) and not tiny (5”x1”x2”) which explains the first impression. But, it sits most often under my desk. The box also contained a USB-C to USB-C connector, but it’s not labelled as Thunderbolt so I provided my own cable for the connection to my laptop. My current M1 pro configuration with its Thunderbolt4/USB-C ports can support a potential 40GB/s data transfer. The SanDisk Pro drive that I have connected advertises maximum Thunderbolt 3 speeds of 2700MB/s read and 1900MB/s write speeds. I achieved 2694 MB/s read and 2396 MB/s write speeds when using the Satechi hub or with it out of the path. It creates no bottleneck. My 4k LG monitor requires using an HDMI to USB-C adapter and worked perfectly. The Satechi Thunderbolt Slim Hub provides a high degree of confidence that it will deliver speed and reliability. It’s a drama-free experience with all my devices getting along with each other.

The Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub 5-in-1 adapter is a dream for anyone requiring outstanding resolution on multiple monitors along with several free USB-C ports in one very nicely packaged (and powered!) device. I have this device set up with 3 monitors - all 4K - and an expanded desktop view for the computer I use heavily for photo and video editing. The Satechi 5-in1 hub has been an awesome consolidator for multiple other hubs. The device itself is small and has a good grip and feel to it - it feels very expensive and upper-scale. While I am not using it as a power source, it has the ability to power a laptop (or other device). The magic in this device is its intelligence. With three 4k monitors all displaying multiple applications, including popular photo and video editing software which is an enormous memory hog, the Satechi 5-1 has embedded load-leveling to wisely provide each port with the adequate bandwidth on-demand. I haven't had a hub with this feature before and it is very noticeable. It's almost as if I purchased a new computer. Overall, the only complaint - which is more of a caveat than a complaint, really - the device gets very warm, even when not in full-throttle use. Just something to note as you decide placement.

The Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Slim goes all in on USB C ports and here are my thoughts: [PROS] Premium: The look and feel of this device matches with the price tag. The outer shell is designed in smooth aluminum that is backed up with ports that doesn't have much wiggle room. Their is some heat that comes along with the usage, but it's well maintained to not be a hazard. Daisy Chaining: It helps to read product guides seeing as I pleasantly surprised that this hub could be linked to an additional hub for more connectivity. The max number of devices is 6 which is plenty of room for all my productivity needs. Monitor/Transfer Speed Performance: At the bare minimum, hubs should be an extension of the base performance of the connected devices. I'm happy to say that my 4K monitors maintained the 60hz as promised, and I was able to transfer large files extremely fast through both the USB-A and USB-C port(s). [CONS] No HDMI or Display Ports: USB C has more than solidified its place going forward with computers, phones, and other tech products alike. Nevertheless, having other ports at my disposal would make the hub more versatile. Not Portable...Sort of: This hub was designed to be stationary which is totally fine. However, the bulky power adapter makes it a bit of a hassle in a rare event in which travel is needed. [CONCLUSION] In conclusion, the Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub is a powerful and high performing solution for connecting multiple devices. The many ports, the performance, and design provides the perfect blend of quality and quantity. I just only wished for a different type of output port to be available for my convenience. Regardless, this is still a product that I would highly recommend.

_____ *Pros: -Sleek and slim design. -Excellent fit and finish. -USB-A goes up to 10Gbps. -Can support up to one 8K at 30Hz or two 4K at 60Hz. _____ *Neutral: -The power brick is chunky and a bit heavy. _____ *Cons: -None With many laptops being made so slim and thin these days, ports are in short supply, necessitating the use of dongles and/or hub adapters. My 2023 Dell XPS 15 comes with only two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB-C port, and no USB-A or HDMI ports. Enter the Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub to the rescue! This Satechi hub made a great first impression out of the box with its slim formfactor, attractive-looking space grey paintjob, dense and solid in-hand feel, smooth and well-polished corners, and excellent build materials and quality. The power brick, on the other hand, is not so sleek, and it’s a bit chunky and heavy. Fortunately, the power cord is long enough so that one should be able to hide the brick out of sight without much difficulty. I’m already used to using a docking station with my work laptop and two external monitors at my job, so setting up the Satechi Thunderbolt 4 (TB4) hub at home was easy and simple. This hub does require a power supply to work, and the wall charger provides 100W. There are three downstream TB4 ports on the backside, and it’s possible to run up to two 4K displays at 60Hz or a single 8K display at 30Hz. I don’t have an 8K display to test the hub with, but I do have 4K displays and they worked just fine. On the front of the unit, there are two ports – one is the upstream TB4 port that can provide up to 60W of pass-through charging to your laptop, and the other is the much-appreciated 10Gbps USB-A port. The 60W pass-through is not enough for my Dell XPS 15 and provided only slow charging, per the OS notification. The transfer speed on the USB-A port is very fast and I’m quite happy with it - I was able to transfer eight video files totaling 3.6GB in about 25 seconds to my flash drive. Hubs like this Satechi TB4 Slim provides great flexibility, utility, and convenience, making our tech lives a bit better and easier. And for that, I rate it 5 Stars.

    Compact desktop TB4/USB-C hub

This is a true Thunderbolt 4 hub: It supports direct memory access and has three TB4 outputs that support video and up to 40 GB/s and one USB 3 port at 10 GB/s. There are no other ports except the three Thunderbolt/USB4 ports and the single USB 3. Video is through any of the Thunderbolt ports. The number of monitors will depend on the host computer. It's important to recognize that this is a desktop hub: Although it's very small, it requires its own power supply. The power supply is rather large, rated for 100W output (20 Volts) with a barrel connector. The hub does not work without its power supply, and because the power supply uses a barrel connector, the hub cannot be powered by the computer's USB-C charger. I think this is a big drawback because I didn't realize the power supply is required and unlike a portable hub, it cannot draw power from the laptop. Further, it does charge a laptop but up to 60W when connecting it via the front TB4 port on the hub, and provides up to 15W on the three rear Thunderbolt ports. I subjectively find the design of the hub to be nice, with a thick aluminum enclosure, with a color that's similar to a current MBP. I also like the rounded edges on the enclosure with no sharp corners. Overall it's a nice although limited desktop hub.

The ideal resolve for work and gaming for when you want to hide most of the wires! You'll notice in my photo that I haven't hidden the Hub but that is the plan. So many people post their set ups and everything is hidden. My goal is to get there and more. Set up is super basic, you'll unbox the device, set up the wires, plug it into your device and get going. My favorite feature is that we are finally getting to a world where the wires for the added peripherals are becoming thinner and thinner. The USB-C wires are more petite and easier to store and wrap together. If you want the 4K experience make sure to upgrade your displays to the HDMI to USB-C wires. You will thank me later for sure. I'm not sure what I am going to use the fourth USB-C port for but I might use it charge my headphones. As far as data transfer is concerned you can see from my photos that there is no delay, the images are crisp, there isn't any pixelation. My significant other has already asked that we get another for our other office so that they can have the same setup. I'd say that this makes the Satechi Hub upgrade worth it.

Flawless, in my opinion. Get this only if you know exactly what you want. The packed in cable maybe a little small, around 2ft. It works well with a 6ft cable if you can buy in seperately. Built like a tank, low profile grippy feet on the bottom, cables have solid connection, the connectors are planted. Really quite compact, a bit like like an external 2.5" hard drive case. Power to notebook is capped at 60W, which works very well for me. It comes with an AC adapter which is on the larger side. But long cables on that mean you can stash it away cleanly.

This was an easy plug and play option to expand my ports and have 2 extra screens. I tried a few others before this and this one was the best! Definitely recommend and have had no issues.
