Installation of a Sirius Connect. The installer damaged the antenna cable during the install due to a poor routing choice and careless re-assembly of parts along that antenna cable route . Finding this was compounded by the extremely poor antenna location chosen by the installer. I was getting significant signal losses and poor channel acquisition from the moment I drove away from the installation bay. At first I thought it was poor antenna/receiver design by the manufacturer and left it at that. However, over the course of the next 2 months the poor signal reception progressed to frequent complete signal losses. I decided to try re-locating the antenna. During that effort I discovered the antenna cable had been damaged by crushing where the installer routed the cable through the door. In addition, after purchasing a replacement antenna I discovered how bad the original antenna placement by the installer was! The instructions clearly say that the antennas need a minimum 3 inch radius of flat metal around them. The installer had originally placed the antenna at the intersection of the roof gutter and windshield on the passenger side. Based on the stated antenna requirements this location reduced the signal reception by approximately 75%. Assuming the installer has installed satellite radio antennas before, I can't even fathom how he ever conceived this would in any way be an acceptable location. I could not be more disappointed in this whole experience.
