I was so nervous about ordering these lights for my studio, but I took a risk and was not disappointed with the product. It came very fast, and the lights are really good for the studio that I have.

Stop looking if you are somebody that wants to make their living with these lights - they are not that at all. They are good solid lightweight occasional use lights. The stands are better than most cheap sets, but are still aluminum and won't stand up to daily abuse. The LED lights are very bright. Much brighter than CFL kits. They won't overpower sunlight, but will work great in most rooms with normal room lighting (they will over power regular old 100 watt room lights). They are only one color temperature, daylight balanced. So they won't work with incandescent lamps or warm LED lights (in that 2000-3000K zone). That's probably a good thing - all the LEDs work for light of one color, so you get more output. One major complaint about the lights - the % light adjustment is really lame. There is a long delay before the light reacts. And it really adjusts more like 50 - 100%, nowhere near 0 - 100%. With continuous lights like this, that's not really a major show stopper. Move the light farther away if it isn't dim enough. The electrical cord is big and beefy - grounded 3 plug cord. Extension cords are a must, along with a power strip to plug multiples in. The cords just have to be three prong. I really like the big handle on the back of the light for adjusting position. The soft boxes are a keeper if you ever upgrade to other lights. The box is held in place by friction, the spring steel snaps around the round light and holds it in place. Professional boxes use special adapters that snap in place. This box doesn't have that option. They will likely fit most light fixtures or flashes. The boxes are pretty darn cool. They fold flat into a triangle. Way easier to fold than the figure eight light modifier panels. There are two diffusion panels. This helps decide how soft you want the light. With no diffusion panel, they are a point source and the soft box alone helps focus the light (the LED light by itself spreads light about 180 degrees - as in everywhere). There is an inner elastic band and hook diffuser. This helps soften the harsh round light. It is one level of softening. And is kind of difficult to attach. The second layer of softening is a Velcro attached screen that goes at the edge of the box. With both diffusers in place, the light is super soft and incredibly even. Catch lights are perfect squares. If you're just starting out or are an occasional studio photographer, these are perfectly serviceable lights. If you're careful, the stands will last a long time. The LED lights are bright and work well. And the soft boxes are a keeper for the future. Oh - the carrying case. OK, that's almost worth the price of admission. You'll keep this thing forever. The case is huge, padded very nicely, and will hold a ton of lighting gear. Everything in this kit fills about 25% of the bag. Each light comes with their own padded bag. The only oddity, the stands have no bag, just the cardboard box.
