There is a to real gun battle @ the beginning of this film which was a real event that really happened, it may be to graphic for young children. Over all this is a good movie with good sound & the film was nicely done we have it on blu-ray there is also 4k version over all I find the blu-ray to be very good.

Fantastic film that has never looked or sounded better!

After this first came out I got the regular dvd and later upgraded it to a blu-ray. Now that it is in 4k I upgraded again as it is one of my favorite war movies. If you like the original ,you'll love this in 4k,especially if you have a home theater system. Great movie.

After buying a TV, A/V receiver and 4k player all with Dolby Vision/Atmos I wanted to try it out. The first disk I bought was the classic WWII movie Saving Private Ryan. I've watched this movie dozens of times and it would serve as the perfect test to see and hear differences in the two formats. Here is my conclusion of Vision/Atmos for this movie. First Dolby Vision. I really didn't see too much of a difference, partly because the color pallet the movie holds to is more monochorme. Therefore Vision didn't "pop". But the movie does have a cleaner look to it, though not too much as to make an impact. On the other hand, Atmos was amazing! Sounds really filled the room. It had more of a natural/realistic sound to it. From the bullet wizzing by to the explosions, it was very immersive. So much so, I couldn't fall asleep for hours after. I brain had to calm down from the sensory overload. I would recommend this movie to all the history buffs out there.

One of the best war films of all time. The ending might be a bit sappy, but the battle scenes are all timers.

This 4K HD remaster does the movie so much justice. All you need is a huge TV and a killer sound system, finding yourself front seat to the D-day invasions of Normandy is something most will never forget. Great actors and worth a watch multiple times.

This is the greatest war movie of all time. Very vivid and realistic depiction of what World War II must have been like. Very touching storyline of the platoon's journey to save Private Ryan. Battle scenes are very realistic. Superlative performances by all the actors involved. A must see by everyone!!

This movie was so worth in 4k!! I loved this movie!! It was full screen too you don't get those crappy black lines the colors look so vibrant and real!! If you want to show of your 4k TV this is the movie to do it with!

Saving Private Ryan has one of the all time great opening scenes in film history. The rest of the film is pretty good too, but everyone will always go back to those opening 20 or so minutes. The film is shot in a unique way with it's heavy grain and odd shutter speeds, and this 4K HDR presentation does a great job of handling those things and giving this film it's most organic to original theatrical run look. Also, the new Dolby Atmos sound mix is AMAZING. The steelbook is a fun bullet case.

Primarily, I purchased this 4K version of the movie to get the most realistic watching experience available, short of seeing it on the big screen or viewing it live on the movie set. I have owned every version of this movie since it was a mini series on television. It is, in my opinion without a doubt, a superb visual experience and one of the best movies ever made. Though some would argue the extremely realistic scenes of killing, death and Mayhem are to extreme. I would argue, SO IS WAR ! The story is tough and yet compelling as to the choices men are asked to make and the camaraderie that drives the human spirit to a cause much bigger than winning a battle. The soldiers just want to survive and make it back home.

Probably the most realistic war depiction ever recorded. Great acting and a top notch script make this movie a must have for anyone's library. I like hard copies of movies and music, as sometimes internet access is not too great where I live (I hate buffering on streaming networks).

My review focuses on the 4k disc, not the movie itself, there's plenty of reviews of that. The visuals on this 4k disc are spectacular, and most impressively, the sound is so immersive. This is the best version of this film I've seen since it was in theaters. The closest I've come to that level of engagement with the film since seeing it on the big screen.

Such an epic dramatization of the D-Day landing. Bullets whiz by you because the sound mix is outstanding. Really like the casting and story. Must buy for any movie collection.

Watched in 4K but getting close to the end started getting digital error. New 4K player so tried bluray and you can see the quality difference between the two. Great movie and price

This film stands the test of time. The same message as "Eight Iron Men" with great directing and better acting, it will make you proud to be American.

The picture and sound in this movie is incredible! The Atmos effects are used heavily throughout the film. This a must have to show off your home theater system.

Ive seen this movie so many times, catching it on netflix or broadcast so I was reluctant to purchase it again. The 4K, the HDR, and the Atmos sound made a huge difference and it was like watching it for the first time. Also appreciated the spanish dub so that my parents can enjoy it

As far as upgrade to 4K, the picture quality is slightly better but the sound upgrade is amazing for those who have a nice surround sound
