Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the controller's build quality, adjustable triggers, helpful paddles, and comfortable grip. Many appreciate its lightweight design and ease of use, along with the extensive customization options. However, some customers reported issues with stick drift and battery life, while others found the back buttons to be less than ideal and the warranty period too short. The price point was also a factor in some negative feedback.

I have been using the Microsoft Elite Series 2 for a little over a year. It's an excellent controller and I definitely recommend it. I mention it because that's what made me hesitant to try the Scuf Instinct Pro. Some things I prefer on the Scuf: 1. Precise, smooth analog sticks. 2. fantastic grip for your palms. 3. Fantastic triggers. 4. Trigger stops turns the impulse triggers in to mouse click, mechanical triggers. I have some nitpicks. 1. To change out the sticks, you have to take the magnetic faceplate off and pull the sticks off the mechanism. Compared to the Elite's magnetic solution, it's just not as intuitive. 2. While buttons can be remapped to the back buttons on the fly, it's not as intuitive as the Elite's software solution built in to the Xbox. I think based on a pure money/value comparison, I would point people toward the Elite Series 2. The software customization is too good and it's a very nice controller. That being said, I keep finding myself picking up the Scuf controller for my play sessions now.

The Scuf Instinct Pro happens to be the first controller from the brand that I picked up, I've been a fan of the Elite Series controllers from Microsoft, however mine has worn significantly and doesn't always register bumper inputs. Scuf has been a name that has been around for some time and was curious to try their controller out. The Scuf Instinct Pro has four rear paddles that are remappable, it took me a moment to adjust my grip to not accidently press them, however with a slight adjustment they are designed in a place that I prefer over others I have tried. There is also three profiles you can configure which can be useful if the controller is shared, however I find it useful if the button layout is different in games to easily crouch, melee, jump or reload without ever having to take your thumbs off of the sticks to continue to aim or move. The thumb sticks are also interchangeable, you have the concaved top, or a rounded top depending on your preference. The faceplate and D-Pad hold on magnetically in key points that they feel sturdy. There is other faceplates and friction rings to change the look of your controller I also think this is great if you needed to clean your controller by chance, the buttons are fairly exposed without having to tear the controller down. The white controller I got has gray accents with white and gray buttons, all of the others have black buttons with matching anti fraction rings, outside of the steel gray. The Instinct Pro comes with a USB-C cable to plug in for wired connection, however there is a battery compartment for wireless use, designed for Xbox it does work wirelessly with their consoles. There is a dedicated mute button on the controller right above the headset ports, which offers both the 3.5mm jack or the various headset adapters. Overall the Instinct Pro gives the feel of the Standard Xbox Controller, with a little extra weight and added features. The triggers do have a couple settings you have your traditional pull, with the flip of a switch, their "Instant Triggers" which is an immediate click which they describer as a "short mouse-click action" which I agree with. I am really curious to see how this controller lasts over time, build quality feels solid, their is a nice texturized grip with added comfort, my palms don't get too clammy when using the controller in long sessions, and although it's a different material from the rest of the controller in blends in well with no lifted edges on the grip, it blends in well. Other than adjusting my grip slightly for the rear paddles, the only thing that I had to adjust to was the switches to activate the instant trigger, they stick up a little and have a little point to them. If you by chance need to change the pull quickly on the triger you can easily find them, but it took me a moment to adjust to. Outsite of those couple little quirks that I notice, this is a great controller. If you're a fan of the Official Xbox Controller, this will have a natural feel, but with a couple added feature that take it one step further if you are looking for a Pro Controller. Interchangeable sticks and plates, it will be great for anyone to customize the look or the feel for those looking to get a little creative.

Love it and have the past 2 years. I game 8-10 hours a day and has yet to fail me. Love the feel, comfort/non-slip don't make my hands sweaty kind of controller. Mostly play pubg (works well) and other 1st person shooter games. Would recommend.

I prefer the feel of this controller over the Elite Series 2. However, the back buttons take some getting used to. Some may prefer paddles but the buttons on this controller work extremely well and are comfortable once you get used to them. The instant trigger feel nice but aren’t game changing unless you plan to repeatedly click them.

Its a solid controller with a good weight and feel. It has some cool features but overall its really overpriced and after using it prefer the elite 2 xbox which is cheaper and comes with a case and inter changeable features. This only gives u a battery, cheap plastic sticks and a cord. I used a gift card to get it other wise i wouldnt have gotten it . I do like the interchangeable face plates that is cool

Feels just like a regular Xbox controller in hand with a bit more weight, but not nearly as much as the series 2 controller. Paddle placement is amazing, and it's the only controller paddles I was able to get used to. Very responsive, and profiles being on controller (avoiding software to make small changes) is a big bonus. Unfortunately, this was my second one as this controller is not immune to stick drift. That said, I'm still buying the same one as all alternatives I've tried haven't felt the same, so it's worth the headache.

Probably one of the best controllers. I just don’t like the fact it takes regular batteries for $200+. Functions great but not being able to recharge for that price is a deal breaker for me. Now buttons don’t get jammed. And that’s something I haven’t found in any controller. If this controller was chargeable I’d rank it 1

Ive been using this controller for the past 2 months and its been amazing. No stick drift. The controller is really light compared to the microsoft pro controller. The only con is it burns through batteries like crazy.

It’s a comfortable, overall good controller. Extreme lack of customization for the controller compared to the PlayStation version which seems poorly planned on the companies side. The left and right sticks have an extremely sharp jump in response from the delay (and again, there’s no way to customize this). This means if you’re looking for this controller for fast-paced fps games, be mindful that the delay can be jarring and increase difficulty with micro movements. The price is a little high especially considering the points listed earlier. Overall, I give it 3 stars, good, clean looking, comfortable controller; but they clearly did the bare minimum here.

I have had every elit controller and the new turtl beach lcd screen controller, and the scuff instinct pro controller is the best controller i have used. My favorite part of the controller is the integrated buttons on the back. I like how there built in and not the wing style buttons that the elit controller uses. Also with customizable faceplates and buttons your controller never feels old.

After using it for a year i would say it is worth getting the controller. it holds and you can customize your back button on how you want it. And change the front cover if you like. The grip feels good when you're holding it. You're less likely to sweat if you have sweaty hands after playing all day lol. Yes its a little pricey but compared to the other controllers I've use, id recommend this one. but if you want to go for a cheaper route I'd go with turtle beach stealth ultra if you want to save a couple bucks. not a lot but you save some lol.

    Great Performance, Uncomfortable Paddles

The SCUF controller is very responsive and performs well in-game. The build quality feels solid, and the buttons are quick and precise. However, compared to the Xbox Elite controller and other similar models, the paddle design is a drawback. Instead of being elevated, the paddles sit inside the controller, making them less comfortable to press—especially for someone with decent-sized hands. The positioning requires more effort to activate, which can be frustrating during extended gameplay. Overall, it’s a great controller, but the paddle design could be improved for better ergonomics.

I did lots of research before getting this, I have the elite2 and wanted to try this mainly for the back control. If I’m playing an FPS I’m quicker with the elite paddles (use all 4). If you haven’t used a premium controller this one seems like it would be easier to convert from standard than the elite. I was going to only keep one and was sure the elite 2 would be going back, but I’m keeping both. I like the elite 2 for FPS when I need every single advantage. But the scuf is awesome as well. Scuff feels way better in hand, both elite 2 and scuf triggers very good. Obviously what’s best controller is subjective

I prefer the elite 2 as it has a better layout for the back buttons. However if you havent already trained yourself to jse the Elite controller layout I could see this layout being advantageous. Finally an aftermarket controller for Xbox that is actually wireless. Seems to be quality and is far liter than the elite controller. I had a little bit of an issue with a sticky trigger that eventually worked itself out after breaking in but otherwise a good piece of kit.

I love the controller, it feels better than the elite Series 2, which is prone to stick drift, and you can use it fr any game on pc, it feels better, grip wise, it’s got a heavier feeling to it, like it’s made of metal

Its an amazing controller. Found a work around to using the offical Xbox dongle with my Steam Deck. It feels great, the antifriction rings are awesome. If only it had Hall sticks and a rechargeable battery. I understand some people that use high end controllers dont care about the battery. I do, the elite series 2 with everything is $179. This controller feels better, but you are getting more bang for the buck with the elite.
