It's small and thin, which is convenient to take places. Has a lot of memory which is what I was looking for. If you're going to use it as a usb from the get go, it's ready for that, however, setting it up for an external drive was confusing even for me. The site doesn't automatically bring you to where you're supposed to find the program to set it up even after you sing up and register the product, and you have to look around for the link a bit with google, after that it is pretty straight forward, however I am not sure how easy it would be for everyone to manage that. It doesn't overheat which is good, for some reason others do.

Bought one of these drives 4-5 weeks ago for use with a Windows laptop. It's worked fine to store my backups. I've used the free Seagate Toolkit to run my scheduled backups and I've not had any issues so far. Previously I used a Synology backup solution for years and I encountered several hardware failures and numerous software problems. The Seagate solution seems much better so far - as well as much less expensive.

Awesome external hard drive! I suggest formatting to EX-FAT for best results! I saved all files to my pc before I formatted it. Then I dragged and dropped files back to drive just to keep original files. You can rename your drive after you format it! Also register your product using the quick start files located on the drive. You will be able to back up all your files easy after that. Pretty easy! Its also PC and MAC compatible. -Love it!

A solid piece of hardware - my last one stayed good for ~ 8 years (not sure what happened with its detection on iMAC)!! Be good to also have the option for USB C port available.

Love this 2T Seagate. I have downloaded a lot of pictures, data and have more space on my computer. It's the perfect size if you need to take traveling- very satisfied with this purchase - I purchased a second one for my son.
