I marked it as a 3 as I'm replacing a previous Seagate HD that just failed after only being in service between 2-3 years. Seagate has changed their warranty policy to 2 years (I guess they know how long their product will last). I used to get 5-7 years out of a HD - now only 2-3 years? At least the price is reasonable and I use them in a RAID 1 configuration so I can absorb 1 HD loss at a time. Online storage is still more expensive in the large TBs range so buying a new HD for local storage is still cheaper is why I haven't switched to cloud. This drive is a 2TB 7200 RPM drive.

Fast, quiet, affordable drive. I have purchased 2 of these so far for use in my NAS. The installation was quick, painless and reliable thus far.

Great capacity and price, just perfect for every day tasks, and fast since its 7200 rpm, now I only have to wait and see its reliability.

I bought these drives to replace aging 1TB Mirrored Drives in a LaCie FireWire 800 External enclosure I use as a constantly on server through my iMac. I simply popped out the old 1TB drives, popped these in and formatted them with no issues. Moved about 1TB of data onto them and put them in use. During the initial transfer the enclosure did work to keep them cool but not more than with the previous drives. After that they have been in constant - ON mode as the drives that serve up my iTunes and iPhoto data on my home network. I've have no issues and they are pretty quit even under moderate load. The real test is failure over time and only time will tell... till them I'm satisfied.

In my experience so far this is an all around solid hard drive. Install is super simple, windows 8 has no problems with seeing a 2 TB drive. The drive is very quiet, which was a relief to me since in the past I have had a few seagate drives that were very loud! The 7200 RPM read/write speeds are very fast. Seagate has redeemed themselves in my mind with this drive. I strongly recommend this drive to anyone!

It was great price for the size of the drive. I never owned a Barracuda drive before, for that matter never owned a SATA drive before always been IDEs. This was fast to isntall in my barebones machine and the isntall of Windows 8 on it was a quicker than quick. The only thing I didn't like was the small jumper that I ended up not needing anyway. To put the jumper on I woudl have used tweazers.

This HD I primarily use for my photography work and nothing else. Since I archive all my photos in RAW format, 2TB is a great size. Not so small that I'm continually having to buy a new drive and not so big that I have all my eggs in one basket. (I also back-up all to an external.) It's fast and efficient for my purpose. Knock on wood, I've had no hiccups with it. When it fills, I'll replace it with another just like it and store this in a waterproof and fireproof place.

I got this on sale, which means I got a reasonable price (but not a great one). I bought this to put in a TiVo Roamio, to replace the stock 500GB drive, which just wasn't enough storage. 2TB is perfect for this use. My only complaint is that it's a little bit louder than the stock drive that it replaced. But the stock drive was 5900rpm, not 7200. This drive is certainly faster that what it replaced. I would recommend this drive for all consumer mass storage purposes. I've been buying the Seagate Barracuda line for quite a while and have always had good luck.

"What's Included" on the website says it includes mounting screws, interface cable, software. The box does NOT include those things. It's just a bare drive in the box, with instructions. That's not a show-stopper, but I had to run out and buy a SATA data cable for $10 before installing. Considering the good product price, I'm not complaining all that much.

i always used WD after 3 or more fails with critical data without warning i stop using WD, also few ones that works to recover data are not so good, now i just use seagate, working efficiently, works not to hot like wd, barely fails, easy to recover in case data loss, i know before seagate was a pain, but now i dont use WD no more, also the prices on seagates HD are excellents

Good Replacement in 2009-Era Mac Pro

I got this to expand a Bootcamp drive in a 2009-era Mac Pro. Apple makes it really easy to swap the hardware out. With a little help from some software like Winclone (sold separately), I was back up and running with much more space for my Windows 7 installation. I usually go with Western Digital for HD replacements/upgrades, but Seagate beat out their price for the same 2GB capacity.

I have used western digital and other drives over the years. I build PCs and these are the drives of choice because they have always been the most reliable for me. This drive installed and worked as expected. You won't be disappointed and the price was as good as on-line retailers.

This hard-drive is a great value. I used it to replace a hard-drive that crashed, and setup was basically "plug-and-play" easy (of course I had to reinstall all my software which is quite time-consuming, but the hard-drive can't be blamed for that). I am quite pleased with the speed and size of this drive, as well as the ease of installation. Highly recommended!

My Samsung video security system hard drive failed. Installed this HDD, booted the system, crossed my fingers and the system started right up. It formatted the drive and continued it's job of recording like nothing had ever happened. This hard drive is double the storage and half the price of the last one I purchased.

I needed something to expand my harddrive capacity and to run my music sessions off of and this is great. My Samsung 850 evo running my programs and OS while I have this drive running my sessions and storage for keeping sample libraries and extra sounds is a real nice combination and works flawlessly

I purchased this drive as an exact replacement for one that failed. Unfortunately, my original drive just stopped working and would not spin up or appear in BIOS list. Hopefully, this one lasts as long or longer than the 4 and a half years the first one did. The drive is pretty quiet.
