I bought this to backup all the files on 3 computers. It's sturdy and a pretty color. It's more than adequate to hold current documents, photos, and all my video files (2TB) with room to add more in the years to come. I use a 2TB Seagate Backup Plus Slim drive when I travel. I'm very used to that size and was worried this one would be too thick. The thickness is not too large for me. As my video library expands, I might get another 5TB one for travels.

Whether you are out of hard drive space on your computer, or want a place for your pictures, or like me, in the legal field and have tons of documents needing storage, this 5TB external drive fits the bill. I have to have storage that I can depend upon, as a Legal Assistant, it is up to me to make sure files are safe. I am confident that this external drive will keep files safe for years to come. Of course, if it lets me down, I will be back to make that known as well.

Fast as expected. back up time was not an issue with this drive.

I have always had very good experience with seagate and this drive is no different. They have always been very reliable and fast drives. I am replacing a WD easystore 2TB that I used as a extra drive and this seagate drive makes that one look like it's 5 years old. I can only get about 65 MB/s read and writes on that drive with nothing on it and 145 MB/s read and 130 MB/s write on this drive with nothing on it. And finally this drives case feels sooo much better than the super cheap plastic that WD uses on their portable drives. The case is still plastic but it's much better quality. I would highly recommend this drive.

This drive works great with my MacBook. I plug it in and it instantly shows up unlike some other external drives I've used. It's also fast in responding to opening, saving, etc.

I bought two actually, one from bestbuy, one from elsewhere. They work very well for storing my research data. Great size and small/convenient. The price is great.

The Seagate Backup Plus 5 TB external USB 3.0 portable drive is an easy-to-use drive to archive files. On a Windows PC, it's easy as unpacking the drive and attaching it to the USB port. For the price, it's an excellent option for archiving or backing up data.

Really happy with this drive. It is plug and play and internally powered. Storage capacity is among the largest I have seen.

Huge amounts of storage and is quite fast for a drive that isn't a SSD. So far it has worked flawlessly.

I love Seagate products I they seem to be better tank Western Digital. I have all Seagate internal hard drives in all my home built systems and some laptops. I have used 5 small 1 & 2TB usb drives and have great service from them. I bought 2 of these 5TB usb drives for my backup drives for my laptop and my wife's desktop. I have a Seagate 4 TB large external ac/dc powered usb drive for my desktop. Yes I love Seagate. These were a great price too.

Well constructed and made for productivity. The mirror drive feature in the included software makes me feel much better when I save my research papers. Works great with my MacBook Air. Would definitely buy again and recommend to anyone who needs a reliable, external hard drive.

Very happy with Seagate! My second one and this is so easy to use and small! One cord is nice!

I needed it for my PS4 Pro. I already filled and maxed out my 4TB external HDD so I needed a little bigger 5TB external hard drive. I looked up read write speeds and this one for all the 5TB models came out with the fastest 130mbps read speed. It's much faster than the WD Black as I found only 110 read speed looking online. Rather you want it for PC, Mac, or PS4, Xbox One, it's a great buy.

As I am not very familiar with external hard drives, I purchased this one due to the overall positive reviews. My only complaint would be the price. But, as I said earlier, I am not very familiar with external hard drives. It hold everything I need it to (my music, videos, and pictures) so I don't take up that much room on my laptop.

I've had this drive for about 7 months now and it's been exactly what I needed. It connects and is recognized by all my devices without any problems. For my needs it was the best value for the price. I've had better luck with Seagate compared to WD products and this is no exception.
