    Error Messages during Set Up

Upon the recommendation of a Best Buy associate, I purchased this hard drive to back-up mobile and laptop data. However, after many attempts to set it up, following all directions, the same error message keeps showing up. Difficult to impossible to set up--would not recommend it. I have another hard drive--WD Passport--which is so much easier to use. Wish I purchased the WD Passport instead of this.

Less than 2 months of use and it's already failed... I get an error "fatal device hardware issue" each time I try to access the drive. Not impressed.

I bought this 2 TB hard drive to replace an old 300 GB Seagate mechanical hard drive that was starting to make worrisome grinding noises. The new H/D works great. Very quick on the storage and retrieval, and 2 TB should be ample room for my photos and documents. I would give it five stars if the restore app had a search feature. Having to remember where I stored a file, and then manually click through the file structure is slow and prone to error.

I have a quite a few portable hard drives, and these are my current favorite: very thin, attractive, quiet, secure cable connection, fast USB 3 transfers. Couple of things: they do make occasional faint clicking noises, which apparently is normal (all 3 of my drives like this do so) Also, the Seagate software which I installed with this drive had some weird conflict with pre-existing Western Digital software from another drive, which made for all kinds of transfer errors and computer crashes. Made it seem like the drives were defective, but once all of each software was removed, the Seagate performs great. I only use drag and drop transfers. I am leery of backup software conflicts now. I do not know which brand was the culprit, if any.

I purchased this drive primarily to back up photos from our MacBook Pro. I was presented with an option to all it to work with both PCs/and Macs. I selected this option and copied over a large number of images off of our PC hard drive. I was able to copy over jpegs as well from our Mac. When I tried to setup the photo library for the Mac to be stored on the hard drive is when I ran into the error that would not allow me to copy it over or set it up. I now need to copy everything off of this drive, reformat it and then set it up for only Mac use. I am sure it will meet my needs eventually, but was a pain and misleading.

I bought this hard drive for about $80. I wanted to use it for more space on my Xbox One. It lasted maybe a month before it stopped working. All I get is a read error. I tried re-formatting.... Nothing. I should have listened to all the bad reviews!!! Don't waste your money!!!!
