Be careful removing the cable before you dismount the drive.

Like the product and it's nice and quiet but the USB 3.0 interferes with my Mac Mini when it's plugged in. The internet goes out and the bluetooth is interfered with as well???

Does the job only negative is the usb cord wears out very quickly, I have two of these and both of the cords are no good. I'll plug it into the computer and if I move slightly, it will eject. Which is bad for the hard drive

Excellent product for normal usage. Works perfect with Macs. The only thing I didn't like was that it has longer cable, about 1 feet to connect, I would prefer something as small as a few inches to make it even more easy to carry. Other than that, this is better than most HDs out there

I am a photographer & I work with video, so my laptop is constantly filling up with all this nonsense. This External Hard drive was such a good purchase. The price was very do-able for a whole terabyte of space, and it has aided me so much. I haven't had any problems with it, besides the fact that when using it with a laptop the length of the cord is kind of awkward sometimes.

The Seagate Backup Plus for Mac is a good choice for backing up your data from Macs. It has a pretty simple interface to use, and it backs up automatically when plugged in via USB cable. 2 things that would improve it are being able to schedule the backups to occur at a specific date/time at regular intervals, and a better cable to plug into your Mac. I think the supplied cable is a little flimsy, and does not alway connect right away. And it just backs your stuff up on its own, no way to set any type of schedule. But it does back up everything, and it is nice and ordered to be able to find anything on the backups, which is the main purpose. Small improvements would make it a 5.

This is a great, easy to use backup solution for my Macbook Pro. I plugged it in via the provided SuperUSB cable and Time Machine automagically started up and was ready to start backing up my Mac. I did take a moment to partition and rename the device before letting Time Machine have it's way. I use 2/3 of the storage for Time Machine and 1/3 of the storage for manually backing up important files. I do manual backups because I have heard horror stories of Mac's failing to restore from a Time Machine backup. For my "manual backups" I actually use an Automator script that kicks off when I mount the external drive, so there really isn't much effort or remembering that I have to do. "Worst case" (other than a HDD failure) is that I have to do a clean install and then manually restore my important files. Software and less important functions I can just reload and reconfigure. This HDD is small enough to be highly portable without creating a bulky or heavy laptop bag. My one complaint is that the provided cable is very short and tends to want to stay folded up in the shape it was packaged/shipped. I replaced it with a braided cloth-covered cable - I prefer the aesthetics.

I've had this Seagate Plus portable hard drive for Mac for about a year and have thus far had no problems. However, be wary once problems do arise. I first took the drive back to Best Buy to get it diagnosed, however apparently every computer in the Geek Squad department was being used to transfer data. So, the attendant offered to ship the drive to HQ to be assessed for *get ready* $200 processing fee. I wasn't even sure if the drive was the problem at this point. After trying the drive on various other Macs, with a number of other cables, I determined it was the drive that had the issue. After contacting Seagate, I was told that I could return my drive to HQ only to hear that Seagate "may replace your product with a product that was previously used, repaired, and tested to meet Seagate specifications." I'm sorry if I don't want a pre-used drive that was previously returned because of problems. . My brand new drive was supposed to "meet Seagate specifications" and it broke within a year. . Additionally, in order to recover my files, Seagate was going to charge a $50 processing fee *not too bad* ......AND a $550 recovery fee. . @@@@@ jaw drop*. The problem was a faulty hard drive, and I don't recommend the product because of the terrible warranty (giving you a pre-used drive) and the insane cost to retrieve files when it wasn't even my fault that the drive broke. Thoroughly annoyed and will no longer buy from this brand.
