Upon plugging in the Seagate - Backup Plus Ultra Touch 1TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive with Hardware Encryption - Black, the power light lighted and driver software installation immediately began and was successful. I transferred music and video files from my larger back up external storage to the Seagate - Backup Plus Ultra Touch 1TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive with Hardware Encryption - Black for convenient transporting. The allowable initial storage is 931GB. The lightweight and its small size make it a nice external drive to store data that might be needed to go mobile outside of the home or office. I was able to use it plugged into my computer’s USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 and there is an adapter for USB-C. There are properties that can be utilized to support the maximum capabilities of the Seagate - Backup Plus Ultra Touch 1TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive with Hardware Encryption - Black. Ready boost, tools, customize, hardware, and sharing are some of the main properties that can be adjusted. It appears to be a decent portable drive to have.

This is my first Seagate external/potable hard drive and I am happy. It is very slim and portable for carrying with me on trips and business. It has a fancy look to it with the cloth covering. It is not ‘touch’ capable which threw me off a bit, but no biggy. Simply plug in with included cables and or adapter for your need, register for the extra software that is included, format, and start backing up. It is pretty fast with little to no lag time in transferring/backing up files. It’s quiet and hasn’t heated up during transfer. I’m only using it for pictures, videos, and movies at the moment but it gets the job done and has plenty of storage space.

    Good Hard Drive

This hard drive is lightweight and portable. It has a nice cloth texture. It comes with USB-C adapter to use with laptops with USB-C ports, and you can also use it without the adapter for laptops and computers with standard USB ports. The read and write speed is pretty fast. It's not a solid state drive. You can slightly hear the spinning disk inside. It comes with a backup software if you wish to install it. Overall it's a very good hard drive.

Portable hard drive with good security features

This Seagate hard drive is just like any other portable drive, but it does come with some added features that differentiates it from other drives available in the market. It is compact, quiet, comes with textured woven fabric top and supports USB C with a USB adapter and works with Windows and Mac. It has security feature that comes with password protection and hard drive encryption. If you want to use this feature, you would need to create a secure password after you enter the code provided by Seagate in the box. But make sure you keep this password you set as it is mentioned that if you lose this password, you will not be able to recover the data. Easy setup with plug and play option. It comes with back up software that you can customize to schedule your backups. Installing the Seagate toolkit provides you with 1 year subscription of Mylio app and 2 month trial of Adobe Creative Cloud. Overall, this is an easy to use portable hard drive with built-in security features for everyday use.

If you need a 1TB drive then this is the drive for you. It works great, Out of the box it works with both PC and Mac. Includes software to encrypt the drive or folders. It has the needed cable to connect to USB 3.0 and an adapter for USB C 3.1 Gen 1. It has a nice feel and transfer speeds are on par with similar drives of this size.

let me start with my computer I have a dell with windows 10 pro. It has 4 USB3 connections and several more USB2. Some of my other computers only have USB c. I have several USB 3 flash drives I have used on my towers. This seemed like a great way to more larger files from computer to computer. For me that is when it stopped being interesting. I plugged this into one of my tower computers. nothing happened. tried another port (usb3) right next to it, and nothing. I tried it on a USB2 (same computer). it worked, tried this on a computer with USB-c (there is an attachment to convert that is included) and it worked fine also I have tried reinstalling my USB drivers and updated my BIOS, talked to Seagate and got a new drive and talked to their tech support. still the USB3 will not work. This is an issue with how I have set up my computers that is not compatible with how Seagate drive wants to work. Yes, I do have several USB3 flash drives that all work fine for me. The conversion attachment for USB to c is a really cool idea. This does come with available drive encryption, you should use it. there is backup included. This is formatted with exFAT so depending on what OS you use you can keep it or change to NTFS for Windows. With SSD drives getting so cheap, getting a TB drive is super easy now. With compatibility with USB2/3 (mostly) and capable of USB c this is pretty much a great idea. grab one!

    Nice Portable Drive

This is a great portable drive, esp. if you aren't as savvy about encryption (a must for portable drives) or backup. I use Windows 10 Pro, so all the features Seagate includes are available, but to use them you have know about them, and how to configure them. Seagate to there credit added a nice simple toolkit that handles the encryption of the drive, mirroring/backups etc with minimal fuss at setup. It was nice to see a polished bit of software for the drive. I didn't have any issues, only issue I could see is you have to make sure that you use there software to handle the unlocking of the drive. Now it is included on the drive, so that shouldn't be a problem, just note that if you are encrypting the drive and decide to move it to a different PC, you'll have to use there tool to unlock. The drive it self works as I would expect a 1TB HDD to work. On USB 3.0 I got sustained copy speeds of around 93MB/s a second which I find more then great for drives of this nature. Overall I had no problems and was happy with a well designed and coded software that was easy to use. If you need a drive to help you backup your data that is portable, this is a good drive. It works well in the week that I have had it and expect a long life out of it.
