Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the Barracuda 2TB Internal Hard Drive's large storage capacity, speed, and affordability. Many appreciate its ease of installation and setup. While some users noted the drive produces some noise and doesn't include a SATA cable, the positive feedback on performance and value outweighs these minor drawbacks.

This product was easy to install and it worked great in my system. I continue to use it on a daily basis, and it seems to have to durability to last.

I've always had trust in Seagate, so I went with two of these when I wanted to upgrade my somewhat slower models. They were inexpensive, since the action is all in the SSD area. My current system wouldn't match well with a big SSD, so I stuck with these for now.

I bought this to replace an external hard drive that was starting to fail. I have this housed in an external HDD case and connected via USB. Been working fine as expected for daily backups.

Good for the price, not the fastest hard drive but good for its value if you need a lot of storage.

I have 2 Drives in my computer C drive for the OS SSD... and D for Data Seagate 2TB Seagate Barracuda Compute and Desktop disk drives use shingled magnetic recording (SMR) technology now which can exhibit slow data write speeds. But Seagate documentation does not spell this out. It took 9 HR to copy 1.1TB to this drive! Then I put my old drive back in and the same copy setup took 2.5 Hr to copy the same 1.1TB All I can say is do your homework I will never buy a HDD with Shingled Magnetic Recording again! Here is a list I found of Seagate SMR drives. Barracuda 2TB – 7,200rpm – SATA 6gig – model name – ST2000DM008 Barracuda 4TB – 5,400rpm – SATA 6gig – ST4000DM004 Barracuda 8TB – 5,400rpm – SATA 6gig – ST8000DM004 Desktop HDD 5TB – 5,900rpm – SATA 6gig – ST5000DM000 Exos 8TB – 5900rpm – SATA 6gig – ST8000AS0003 Archive v2 6TB – 5,900rpm – SATA 6gig – ST6000AS0002 Archive v2 8TB – 5,900rpm – SATA 6gig – ST8000AS0002

Original Desk Top hard drive died. Purchased the Barracuda, installed it in my HP Pavilion desk top and reformatted from Image disks then reloaded from backup external drive. Working flawlessly and I now have 2 Terra bytes of storage. Much cheaper than a new computer.

ros: Replaced a failing put still functional Seagate ST2000DM006 2TB drive used in Raid 1 with this exact same model. The failing drive was used for several years logging 24k hours of service. The other aged Seagate ST2000DM006 2TB drive in this Raid still checks good. These drives in my experience run quietly and dependably.

What can I say, its a hard drive Seagate quality, performance and reliability. This drive is a classic, it doesnt really suffer a lot of the problems from the newer bigger stuff they make now. I actually bought 3 of these for my new PC, and they work great.

I bought this drive as a back up to my harddrive, and it hasn't disappointed me. It was very easy to install and does load up quickly which surprised me being that it wasn't a solid state drive. All in all I'm happy with my purchase.

Yes it’s a platter drive but it’s 7200rpm for all those files you don’t care to load a little slower. It’s hard to beat for the $ to GB. SSDs do drop in price from time to time, but for my money I’d rather trust this old school tech than a subpar/budget SSD anyday.
