    Back-up Storage for Photographers

Given the large storage capacity and required AC power source, this is best used as a tabletop hard drive for backing up RAW files or for consolidating/clearing memory cards. Nice slim design, with an SD card reader built in. However, I do wish the Seagate software was more feature-rich and intuitive.

    It could have been great!

I have it a start for the fact that it starts up and two for the software that comes with it. In concept, this is a great idea. The ability to plug things into the front and have it "automatically" back up other devices is great. In reality, I wasn't able to get it to finish a single backup so far! The drive is very fast for a few seconds, very few, and then it drops to 0 kbps and back to 1 kbps. I've tried it on the machines, going from internal hard drives and from USB drives plugged into other USB and the front of the hub directly. I am thinking this is a bum drive but have read of others having the same problems. I've spent a week trying to diagnose the problem, was on vacation for a week before that, so I don't know if I can get it replaced. Now I have days on it that I don't want out in the world either! I'm buying a WD black external and I'll see if I can copy my data of before going through the hastle of trying to get it replaced. I've been a Seagate guy since the early 90's but have had to many problems with them over the past few years and am finding it difficult to spend my hard-earned money on products that don't work out of the box.

Works Well As Time Machine Drive

I chose the Seagate One Touch Hub 8TB to use as a Time Machine back-up drive on my mac after two lower-priced 8TB drives from another vendor did not reformat. The 8 TB One Touch worked as it should right out of the box.

I have 2 of these drives to store movies and tv series and seagate is the best drive for reliability! The USB C is a nice feature so I could copy my movies to my ipad with usb-c.

Perfect External Hard Drive For My Needs

Excellent choice for an external hard drive. Storage capacity is perfect for my needs - saving pictures, documents, videos/movies, music. I appreciated the added features especially the USB-C port. It’s compact enough to place anywhere and I continue to be happy with Seagate quality. After considering several other options I feel this was the best choice for all the reasons I mentioned at a reasonable cost.

It works as described. Price is a little high. I had a previous one that worked for 2 years and has now crashed. This is to replace the previous one. I lost the data so I hope this works better

    Misleading Product Name

This product is very misleading. The ports on the front including the USB-C are only used to power portable devices and for plugging in other external drives. To connect to your computer you must use a USB 3.0 cable. I had switched to Seagate because all my prior WD harddrives always failed. I wanted to use USB-C for faster data transfer and because some of my devices only use USB-C. I am trying to switch everything to one cable. I do not want to get a separate USB-C/USB 3.0 cable to be able to use it with them. You also have to have the power cable and USB cable connected to turn the unit on. I could just use a USB to both power and connect to my computer with my WD drive. The Toolkit program has worked fine to back up my data. I liked the layout of the WD backup software better and that it showed you a breakdown of the files (documents, photos, etc.) References: https://www.seagate.com/manuals/one-touch-hub/welcome/#box-contents From the seagate user manual: Front Connect devices to the hub ports to: Access files and folder on connected external drives. Charge mobile devices, even when your computer is powered off. Back Back Use the USB micro-B port to connect One Touch with Hub to your computer. Connect the included power supply to the power input port.

I really like this backup. Loads easily and just "works". The 8TB gives me plenty of room to not have to worry about multiple backup drives. Great product.

WD drives were failing too often, so we switched to Seagate, which has been more reliable. Works exactly as one would expect.

Seagate is the Best Hard Disk Company, however my recent experiences with companies that have made superior products is shaken as Epson went down the tubes rather rapidly (39+ years), and eBay became a ethnic motivated corporation and dropped Capitalism rather suddenly (23+ years). One thing I noted about the drive is the spin-down noise which sounded more like Seagate worse drives a 3 tb ext which I had a shelf life of only 3+ years, I hope I am wrong and will be tasking this unit to see its durability. If Seagate is still the quality company, it will blow away its warranty period easily by 2 fold. I still recommend Seagate

I purchased this because I recently lost data on computer and the WD the external I was using as a backup only works intermittently. I've always had positive experiences with Seagate external drive stop working (I've had issues with WD) and so far the Seagate hub is working well. It's fast too. I use a Mac pro laptop 16" (2021) and 32 memory.

I wanted a larger capacity drive as a second backup but this drive failed after a month and I had to send it in. I am getting a replacement but I have to upload everything again when I get the new drive. My other Seagate drive is over 5?years old and still going strong.
