The sound is nothing short of incredible. As one would expect, without a dedicated subwoofer the bass is lacking a bit of punch but it's still pretty impressive. As others have pointed out, you can add a subwoofer.... But I recommend trying it out for yourself and play with the settings in the app before making that decision. You may decide it's unnecessary for you. Obviously the cons are the price (you get what you pay for but not everyone will need the Bugatti of soundbars)... and I do occasionally need to reset the HDMI eARC connection which is an annoying bug when you spend $2k+ on a soundbar. Having said that however, I've never heard a more full, and rich sounding soundbar before. With Dolby Atmos enabled media it's nothing short of stunning. If you can justify it in your budget you won't be disappointed.

This sound bar is incredible! Sounds great! Lots of volume and clarity. Ambeo is fairly good for 3D audio processing. And this is coming from someone who is using DIRAC in their vehicle and their main home theater room. You will need a separate sub for this soundbar. Yes, this will not be a replacement for AVR home theater set-ups. We use this soundbar in the bedroom paired with a REL T5/X 8 inch woofer. If I had buy the sub over again, I would use a SVS 3000 mini. Keep in mind that this sound bar is not going to really give you true 5.1.4, but it does an outstanding job of trying to do it. So if space is a limiting factor for choosing this over a true AVR experience, this would be the one to get!

My last sound bar shorted out, so I needed a new one that would provide clear audio in my living room - small space with 2-story ceiling. After checking out reviews - both customers and professional organizations/magazines - I decided to go big and purchase the Sennheiser. I've been very happy with the expansiveness of the sound and the ease of set-up - including adding it to my Harmony remote. I did need to have someone from Geek Squad come out and troubleshoot for me when the sound was "dropping" since I was worried there was a short in the HFMI TV input... but blissfully, it appears to have been operator-error and I've been enjoying the great sound to go with my various movie/TV binging events!

I bought this, sight unseen/heard, off bestbuy.com. I am really satisfied with the chance I took on this soundbar. This replaced an older Onkyo 7.1 (only using 3.1 at the time) that had suddenly... exploded. The Sennheiser sounds amazing right out of the box! I hooked up the old cheap-o sub I had from the Okyo and it gives it just enough extra oomph to be that much more satisfying. But truthfully, you don't need the sub. But I had it so why not. Setup was easy, and once you get the app installed, you have pretty granular control over many setting you just cant access on the physical soundbar controls. Warning - This thing is pretty big and heavy. My TV is sitting on a cabinet and the soundbar covers a lower portion of the screen. Plan on making accommodations for this thing if you are not mounting on the wall.

Sounds absolutely outstanding unit for two months before connectivity issues arose. No resets or app or anything could recover the problem. Unfortunately, I got an amazing deal on it in-store and upon returning it for repair, Geek Squad scrapped it and only offered a refund, not a replacement. They would not repair it. replaced with an Ambeo Plus and not 9 days later same thing and going to BB tomorrow for a return. It's a very common problem with Sennheiser if you look at online reviews. Buyer beware!

    Loved Everything But the Aesthetics

I absolutely loved this sound bar and purchased at seventeen hundred dollars. It filled my living room, measuring 30' x 15', and the sound was so crisp. Dialogue had never sounded better. Music sounded amazing. I didn't quite get the consistent surround sound effect when watching action movies. Ultimately I returned this because of the overall aesthetic, or lack thereof, of the sound bar. It was the combination of overall size, bulk, and lack of styling that made it unappealing to look at. I would have gladly paid the price since the quality was top notch and the sound produced was a dream. But in the end, I needed it to be pleasing to the eye as well, and this was just kinda monolithic. Maybe I will come back to this for a dedicated movie/gaming room, but in our nice living room it just felt like an eyesore. Which was a shame.

Purchased an excellent condition model, and I couldn't be more pleased. It replaced a Klispch Cinema 700 which sounded great for the less 600 I paid for a 5.1, but this is an upgrade once you add your subwoofer. I expect most high end customers have a sub along with plenty of wires and speakers to replace. You hear the full 5.1 coming from around you and the sound is BIG, theater big. The bass without the sub is lacking for true home Cinema replacement, but for anyone wanting less than theater bass sound, the bar along will suffice once you turn the bass up in the EQ. I used it a whole weekend without an external subwoofer and I couldn't stop myself from watching additional movies and clips made for great sound systems. Dialogue is clear, the calibration was a bit of a hassle until I wipe the mic with a dust cloth.

    Thermal Flex Issue

I felt compelled to review this product after using it for a year and having constant issues with it. First off when this soundbar is functioning properly it's capable of producing very impressive sound and a nice soundstage. The first time I played a movie with the Ambeo setting on I smiled because it was throwing sounds all over my living room as it's intended to do with it's side and up-firing speakers which created a pleasant surround sound experience. I will also say that you absolutely need to add a separate nice subwoofer to complete the surround sound experience which I already had so it worked out well. Here are the not so great aspects of this soundbar...It has a common issue that Sennheiser calls "Thermal Flex". Thermal Flex occurs when the soundbar starts to heat up and the plastic it used in the materials start to expand and makes a crackling noise. This noise doesn't come from the speakers but from the housing unit itself, specifically in top right rear corner where the most heat is dispensed through the plastic vent. The noise is not constant and you probably won't notice it if you're playing something at a moderate to loud volume but when it gets quieter in a scene or the volume isn't as high you will definitely notice it. You can find several mentions of this problem in reviews and on forums. I contacted Sennheiser Customer Service after about 8 months and that's when the real frustration began. Their customer support is by far the worst and most incompetent I've ever dealt with. First, if you email them you can expect to wait about a week for a response. Second, you get multiple different people telling you the same thing the last person told you a week before so you have to refer them to your last email. I did everything they asked of me including making sure the soundbar was spaced the correct distance from other devices to ensure properly air flow and ventilation. One of their responses was to put a fan back there to help keep this couple thousand dollar soundbar cool...lol After months I was able to get them to service it so I sent it in via UPS and it arrived at their service center where it stayed for 7 weeks. I wasn't able to get any updates during that time and finally I called and left a message and the soundbar just happened to ship out the next day. Once I got it back there was a note inside that said "Bench tested for a week and couldn't find any problems". LOL If you only tested for a week, why did it take 7 weeks for me to get it back?!? Of course once I got it back, hooked it up and turned it on the same sounds started up again. Then after all that they asked me about my cables and told me to do a reset which is ridiculous because again, the noise doesn't come from the speakers, it comes from the plastic getting extremely hot which is a common issue with this model. Lastly I'll touch on the app...You need the app to customize sound settings which is fine but the app rarely works. It constantly can't find the soundbar and you have to delete the app and start all over. They also just sent another update on the app and now your custom EQ settings don't save every time you exit the app. Unfortunately the negatives outweigh the positives with this soundbar and given it's high price point I'm extremely disappointed in this purchase and I'm stuck with a very expensive soundbar that makes crackling noises. I would recommend that you look elsewhere when it comes to high end soundbars.

This is an engineering marvel. The only con is the Price (which is better now) and the size / weight. I almost held out for the plus model, but bit the bullet on this due to mix of promotional credits needing to be used and the need for a sound bar that would best replicate a traditional multi speaker setup. You have to hear it to believe it, Truly amazing. We just had our first kiddo recently and I sold my floor standing setup…. Honestly I don’t think I could go back unless I ever have space for a dedicated theater room.

I have been a long time fan of Sennheiser products and i was so excited for this soundbar. Absolutley stunning piece of hardware that produces such amazing sound. The sound engineering really shows. I set it up with my new LG OLED C4 77” TV and the set up process was quick and easy and i also added a Sennheiser wired sub, but the main problem was with the HDMI eARC. When the TV is turned off, the soundbar automatically turns off and then lets say you turn the TV ON again after about 10-12 hours, the soundbar goes into a standby state with white LED continuously blinking and does not respond to remote control or any other action. The only way to get it working again is through a power cycle. This was exteremely annoying to repeat this process everyday. So after about a few days, having tried everything changed to multiple expensive HDMI cables, updated firmware, full system reset, etc. I returned the product hastily. I now have a Bose soundbar ultra with their 700 sub and its been working quite well. A related reddit discussion. https://www.reddit.com/r/Soundbars/comments/1gab0w4/ambeo_max_blinking_white_light/

This soundbar does sound very good. Although I could hear the sound being reflected and was very immersive you could still always tell it was coming from the front of the room. It is a beast - very large, gets quite hot and some internal items shine through the top. Supposedly being state of the art I really wanted to like this bar. I was using it with a Sony A8H TV. But I could not keep it working. Hook everything up, great. Next day no sound. Happened over and over again no matter how I changed the hookup and cables. The only way to get sound back was to physically unplug the power. I have returned this item to Best Buy.

This is a very well-designed, well-engineered and well-build product. Lots of delightful little details, but the best part is how it sounds. I expected the Atmos stuff to sound well but it does a nice job with 5.1 audio too, throwing the music into the background and rear while the speech is upfront and clearly audible. Setup was a breeze too. My only glitch was that it took several takes to calibrate, likely because I have an odd-shaped cathedral ceiling. I highly recommend it.

Lots of trepidation given the quality issues reported. So far, 1 day in, just amazing. Other than some odd difficulty figuring out what the front, top, back, and bottom are, setup couldn't have been easier, including calibration, and it flat out works so far. Hooking up a sub was easy and definitely adds some bottom end that wasn't there without it. Still, especially with the sub, but even without it, the sound quality is buckets above any other sound bar I've listened to (which is a lot).

Unmatched Detail And Fidelity For A Soundbar

I keep things simple, with my new 65 inch LG C1 OLED mounted and connected via eARC to the soundbar, my PS5 connected to the TV, and all other content comes out of the TV (Netflix, Disney+, Vudu, Prime, Tidal). Best song I've heard so far on this beauty is Riders On The Storm (atmos mix) by The Doors. The Tidal app on the LG TV is a little glitchy, but it does output Dolby Atmos to the bar. Y'all have to check out the Atmos on that song, the rain storm is heard all around! And the voice/instrument separation is exquisite. I have noticed that with Dolby Atmos music, usually the Movie setting on the Ambeo sounds better than the Music setting. For all other music, the Movie setting adds to much echo/reverb so I stick to Music setting. When playing Final Fantasy 7 Remake on the PS5, the surround sound is striking. I can hear the characters Barret and Tifa right just behind my left/right shoulders as the walk behind me in the game talking. For video games on the PS5, the Neutral setting sounds best. The best movie I've listened to so far was that new movie Tomorrow War, the sound mix is really cool. Can't wait to watch the other reference Atmos films. The live action Lion King and Alladin movies were also amazing. I could hear the bugs chirping and buzzing all around the air in Lion King. During Alladin, the coolest part was in the Cave Of Wonders, I felt like I was in the cave with them and the sound of the gold coins during the commotion of escape was surreal. I still need to test out 4K discs on the PS5, I have the Kingsman collection so that'll be first.

This is a really great sounding Soundbar. The vocals are tight. The music is very good. I setup this device paired with a Rel 1205 subwoofer. I felt that I was missing sound from the rears. My room isn't exactly a square box that would be the best option but it's not very large either 13x14. I feel that Sennheiser needs some wireless rears to go along with this setup. The upward firing atmos speakers can only do so much. I retuned my Sennheiser Ambeo and purchased the entire Sonos system. Sonos Arc, Sonos Sub, and two Sonos SL 1 speakers for cheaper. The sonos system sounds great but if you're in need of just a sound bar and optional sub, the ambeo can't be beat.

This is a truly impressive gadget. I never thought I could get such an immersive sound experience with just one soundbar. My TV doesn’t have eARC input. So I was concerned that I wouldn’t get the atmos effect. But just the ARC works. The only thing I don’t like as much is that the app doesn’t stay connected to wifi and I have to connect every time- not fun.

The Sennheiser Ambeo soundbar does an excellent job of providing 3D sound fields for video and audio events. One thing to remember is to switch power OFF and back ON after the software Updates are completed. This soundbar is everything that I had hoped it would be and more. I did add a Klipsch reference sub woofer even though Sennheiser states that you do not need it. The sub woofer adds the final enhancement to the surround experience and I highly recommend it.
