I have always been a fan of Sennheiser. Most of the high-end audiophile quality headphones I have ever owned have been Senns. I still have my HD650s and I used to have a pair of HD800s back in the day (and I sold them for almost what I bought them for)! I appreciate that Sennheiser makes outstanding headphones that tend to be very grounded and neutral as their baseline. Usually any deviation from that pure neutral sound has been through the design of the earcups and whether or not they are open or closed back.
That being said, I HATED the Momentums when they first came out years ago. While I thought they looked OK, I actually didn't like the knob and open frame on the sides. Back then, I still had some hair on the sides of my head and I would actually get it caught sometimes in the frame and get pulled out! I didn't need any more help ridding myself of hair on my head.
Back then they weren't ANC headphones and there were so many other offerings from Senn, that I didn't bother with a pair. When ANC headphones started being made by a lot more than just one or two manufacturers, I already had a pair that I really liked and I stayed with them from the XM1 version through the XM3. My headphones are starting to die (the problem with all closed system batteries), but I got a heck of a lot of use out of them. Either way, I wanted to see now what Sennheiser had come up with now that they have noise cancelling AND got rid of the design I didn't like (even though my hair is now shaved off).
I really dig these new Momentum 4s and I'll go through a few of the feature sets to let you know what I think.
Styling/build: While perhaps more plain and not being able to fold up into quite as small of a case, I prefer this styling far and away over the earlier models. The fabric covering to the headband is nice, the armatures are solid, and the padding is top notch, especially for a guy who has lost his natural padding on the top of his head. The only thing that kind of throws me off is the depth of the earcups, they are thick. I'm sure that is to allow more room for the battery, and if that is indeed the case, I am completely cool with it.
Controls: My previous ANC headphones also used touch gestures but they could be pretty wonky at times. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to just raise or lower the volume, and instead ended up changing the track. The touch controls have been much better on the Momentum 4s. I have yet to accidentally make a change I wasn't looking to make.
Software: I am rarely impressed by the app that many electronic devices have, especially headphones, but I have to hand it to Sennheiser, they did a really nice job with theirs. Incredibly easy to make changes but what really stands out is their Sound Check mode that lets you adjust the sound signature more naturally than just fiddling with sliders. It is almost like going to the optometrist with the better/worse kind of testing. The App offers you several sets of three different sound-scapes (while you are listening to the song) and you pick the one you like best. When you are done it sets up the equalizer and you can save it as a profile. Easy-peasy. Now some of the choices don't seem too different from each other (also kind of like the optometrist) but it's there if you really listen.
Another software item that is both nice/annoying is the firmware update. I've had these Momentum 4s since they came out a week ago and I already have had two firmware updates. While it is cool that Senn is feeding these updates to make the headphones better, they kinda stink in that the update process take anywhere from 25-30 minutes! Not sure why it takes that long, but hey, as long as they are making my headphones all the better, I'm really not going to complain.
Accessories: The hardcase is nice but the cables are just 'meh'. I would like to see an audio cable with a little bit better strain relief and thickness. If you were going to use these plugged in, I don't know how long that cable will last. The charging cable is good, but nothing to write home about. Supposedly you can use a USB-C to C cable (not included) to do audio from things like iPads but I did not test this out.
Comfort: Both the headband and earcups have a really nice padding on them. I would have liked perhaps a little more on the headband, especially since the headphones don't need to be able to fold up. It's fine now, but I anticipate the headband padding compressing a bit over time which will impact how long I can listen without breaks.
Sound: What really matters and I have ZERO complaints in the sound department on the Momentum 4s. They have the neutral soundstage that I prefer and all of the music genres I listen to (which is most of them with perhaps the exception of Bluegrass), sounds on point. There is also no eardrum 'pressure' from the active noise canceling. A lot of times I also just use ANC headphones to just give me a quiet room when stuff is going on in the house or in the neighborhood. The Momentum 4s have an outstanding level of passive noise cancelation just from the padding and fit, but having ANC on REALLY does a nice job of giving me some peace and quiet so I can read (or take a nap in my chair). The ANC is just as good as any other of the top players and I was not able to even detect some of the hiss that you sometimes can hear with noise cancelling.
Phone Calls: I don't call people much nowadays but I do make a weekly call to my parents. I always wear earbuds/headphones when doing this because my dad tends to ramble and sometimes I surf the web while he is talking (and can't really hold a phone). I normally wear my earbuds from a certain fruit company everyone knows, and my parents never commented on the voice quality but when I called them a couple days ago using the Momentums, they actually asked what I was doing different because I sounded so much clearer to them. So now the Momentums are going to be my headphone of choice for doing calls from now on!
Battery Life: Almost silly the amount of battery life in these things! I have been using them for music listening several hours a day for almost an entire week with ANC on, did a 40 minute call with my parents, and used them for about four hours just as a 'quiet zone' while reading. The battery life is still showing 80%. I think I could probably charge these up for a weeklong vacation somewhere and not have to charge them again until I got back home! That would be with the flight and the sitting by the pool/beach all day! Whatever Sennheiser did to maximize battery life worked like a charm, and despite this battery life they don't feel any heavier than other ANC headphones with HALF the battery life!
Bottom Line: The Momentum 4s are a phenomenal set of Active Noise Cancelling headphones, completely on par with the other top ANC headsets. Everything combined together makes them, in my opinion, the best of the current crop of ANC headsets. I don't see how anyone can be disappointed in these cans.

First, Sennheiser is a well trust brand in my tech/media circles so I had decent expectations for these, and they were met for the most part. Here are some basic pros and cons:
- Good noise cancellation; not the best as I have another well known brand that is better, but they also cost more too.
- Bass and sound is very precise and crisp
- Light and modern design ; they are not big and clunky
- Amazing battery life ---- I didn't even charge these the first couple of days and they lasted!
CONS
- The touch detection on the sides are a bit too sensitive. If I even wave my hands near them, the sound stops; this happens ALL. THE. TIME.
- The auto power mode has become a nuisance; they turn on anytime they are moved, which causes my phone to connect to them at random times
- Re-pairing these with a new device (so my husband could use them) caused them to disconnect and forget about my device and I have to reconnect it later.
No doubt, these are quality headphones and do the job very well, but with the quirks, the random shutoffs, and connectivity issues, at THIS price point, there are better options that don't cost a ton more.

The sound quality is great, I listen to a lot of indie, punk, and metal. The ANC is pretty good, although you need to use the app to interact with that, and the app leaves a bit to be desired but is not horrible. Battery life is really good, I am a full-time college student and spend a lot of time with these on and have not dealt with them dying on me in the middle of the day. These are really comfortable. They're not heavy. They don't have an extremely tight hold that hurts my ears, but they also hold on tight enough to maintain a seal around my ears.

The Momentums are comfortable to wear with the leather around the ear pieces being very soft and the on the underside of the head band Sennheiser used a soft material there as well. The sound quality is great for music, movies, and audio books.
I had no problems connecting the headphones to my phone, but did have to make multiple attempts to get them to connect to my TV. I’m not sure why there was a problem, but eventually they successfully connected. I also updated the firmware which took around 45 minutes. The update was successful the first time around.
The headphones have active noise cancelation with can be controlled through the Smart Control app. Setting it to adaptive didn’t seem to work as well as setting it manually. When set manually, you can use a slider in the app which lets you adjust it to hear more of the surrounding environment or less. The active noise cancellation worked well when manually set to a higher setting compared to setting to adaptive. You also have a sidetone option which can also be set with a slider. This adjusts how natural you voice sounds on phone calls.
You can set Sound Zones within the app which allows you to have custom sound settings based on location. When used, it will automatically change the sound settings based on your location. This is the first time I’ve come across this kind of feature in headphones. The app also allows you to see the battery level, enable/disable On-head Detection, Smart Pause, and auto power off timing.
It comes with a case, USB-A to USB-C charge cable, audio cable, and airplane adapter. Something to note about the audio cable is that on one end it is 3.5mm standard plug, but on the other end the plug is smaller. The female port on the headphones takes the smaller end which is not the typical size of 3.5mm. I would like to have seen Sennheiser use the standard size port instead of something smaller.
The controls are on the right side of the headphones. There is a button, led indicators, USB-C charge port, and the small headphone cable port. You also use controls by gestures on the right ear piece. The gesture control is helpful, but for some, it will take a little time to get used to using them.
I think the Momentum headphones are a great addition to Sennheiser’s headphone lineup. The app and features are definitely a plus. I’m enjoying the sound I get out of these and would recommend them if you are wanting headphones for music, audio books, movies, etc.

Overall these headphones are fantastic, and of course they have the great sound Sennheiser is known for. I bought these to upgrade from my Sennheiser PXC 550-II, and what a great upgrade. The PXC 550-II are great, but these new Momentum 4’s are just that much better. The “pinch to zoom” type control on the side of the headset to adjust the level ANC/Transparency is by far the best added feature. Now instead of all or nothing you have control over how much or how little of outside sounds you want to hear inside the headset. 60 hours of battery life, and yes they really do last that long, i used mine for days before i had to put them on the charger. Also we finally move to modern times with a usb type C port. The newly revised smart control app is a major upgrade from the older one, plus it finally works on iPhone, for the most part haha. Some say the minimalistic design is a downgrade from the retro inspired style of the Momentum 3’s, but as for me i prefer the minimalistic design. I feel as though it makes them more casual where you could wear them to places like a gym and you wouldn’t feel like you stick out as compared to everybody else. The earcups feel great, as well as the size adjusting is nice and smooth, and fit my rather large head with ease. One negative i have though is while they have earcups that turn to lay flat they do not fold up into the headset for compact storage anymore, though they do make up for it with a very nice hard shell carrying case. 9/10 for me and i highly recommend these for anybody looking for great sounding headphones, with top quality ANC, and very long battery life. One of the very best headphones on the market at this time.

Sennheiser has done it again; they’ve improved upon their noise cancelling wireless headphones with a new look and Adaptive Noise Cancelling technology in their MOMENTUM 4 Wireless over-the-ear headphones. The MOMENTUM 4 are the newly released version from Sennheiser and they have added even more user-friendly features than the previous versions while improving on their noise canceling technology.
What’s in the box - The headphones ship with a great zippered carrying case, a USB-C charging cable, a 3.5mm audio cable for wired connection, airplane 2.5mm cable adapter and instructions/paperwork. The headphones fold flat to fit in the case which is a good size for traveling. They fit perfectly in the outside pocket of my backpack used for work and travel. The earphones were fully charged out of the box, so all that’s needed to get started (optional really, as they headphones will connect to your Bluetooth device anyway) is download the Sennheiser Smart Control app and customize the earphones. Some of the features are active at download but you need to create an account to access all the app features. There was a firmware update available for the headphones and it updated once they were connected. This took about 30 minutes.
Smart Control App - it's a great tool for taking advantage of the many available settings these headphones provide like Connection Management, Equalizer, Sound Check, Sound Zones, Active Noise Cancelation, Adaptive NC Setting and Sidetone for phone calls. Connection Manager does exactly that as it lists your BT devices for connecting. One of the advanced features of these headphones is they can connect to 2 devices simultaneously. The Equalizer provides a handful of presets and can also be customized to the user’s preferences in Bass, Midrange and Treble. There’s also Bass Boost and Podcast sound modes to select. Sound Check lets the user selected from different sound options to create additional Equalizer presets. With Sound Zones the headphones can be set up to use specific sounds settings based on your location. The Active Noise Canceling setting can be set between ANC and Transparency based on user preference or can be set to Adaptive which will automatically switch the NC depending on surroundings and level of noise. Sidetone changes the sound of phone calls. My headphones came set to 50% and calls sound amazing!
Fit and Function - The first thing I noticed when putting on the headphones was the plush feel of the ear pads and the headband. The cushy memory foam on the earcups allows for hours of use with no hot spots. The headband is not quite as plush as the earcup, but again, no hot spots or discomfort after hours of use. Adjustment of the earcups is easy with the slide bar to lengthen and the earcups rotate for a perfect fit. The build quality is exceptional, I expect these headphones to last for years to come. Cloth accents on the headband is also a nice touch.
The headphones can be managed through the Smart Control app or with hand gestures on the right earcup. The single power/BT button is also located on the right earcup. Press and hold it for 3 seconds and you’re ready to listen to your favorite music or take a phone call. Pause/Play, Volume and phone calls can all be managed with finger gestures. It takes a couple tries to get them dialed in, but what a great feature. Music is paused when the earphones are removed and restarts automatically when put back on.
Sound Quality - The sound quality is top-notch right out of the box, but the Smart Control app gives the user the ability to customize settings based on their preference. I did create my own Equalizer pre-sets and added the Bass Boost and wow, just wow! Quality sound as expected from Sennheiser! I messed around with the Adaptive NC setting and other features and found I liked setting the NC level to full ANC. That would be one area I felt these earphones fell a bit short compared to similar earphones. Noise Canceling was good, but not great. I use headphones when mowing the lawn and the MOMENTUM 4 just couldn’t block out the all of the mower noise.
Phone Calls – This is an area the MOMENTUM 4 really shines. As mentioned earlier the Sidetone feature was preset at 50% and everyone I talked to said it sounded like I was right next to them. On the headphone side, sound was clear and very rich, not crackly like some headphones can sound. Top-notch in this category!
Battery Life – I fully charged them upon receipt and after multiple days of use, they are still at 80%...this absolutely crushes the battery performance of my other NC headphones. And on top of that, there’s a quick charge feature as well. Worrying about battery life is completely off the table based on my experience to date.
Pros:
- Build and Sound Quality is Top-Notch
- Ease & amount of sound customization and functions with the Smart Control app
- Earcup Touch Controls - control your music, pause or call without ever touching your phone
- Fit and comfort is outstanding, no discomfort even after hours of use
- Taking Phone Calls – Best phone sound I’ve ever experienced, even in a crowded office
- Battery life is exceptional
- Great Carry Case for traveling and storage
- Automatic On/Off feature
Cons:
- Noise Canceling has a little room for improvement…but sound quality makes up for this
The Sennheiser MOMETNUM 4 Wireless Noise Canceling Over-the-Ear Headphones are one of my new favorite devices and would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for great noise canceling, comfortable & stylish and function-packed headphones.

The unit I received with my initial purchase of these headphones had issues. If your headphones sound like they are not working evenly between the ears and turning the ANC on affects 1 ear more than the other, you need to return your unit as this is a flaw and not a feature. I exchanged my faulty unit and received a properly working unit which has been operating properly since Fall 2022.
My experience with my good unit has been enjoyable. I also own a pair of Sony WH-1000XM4's. While the Sony unit has better active noise canceling, the sound and fit of the Sennheiser Momentum 4's are far superior. Sony headphones have always had a narrow sound stage for me with a sound signature like I have a couple of tin cans strapped to my ears. If all you listen to are Sony headphones you'll never hear the difference, but when I put on my Sennhesier headphones, the level of comfort and clarity of sound was a drastic improvement. Music is much more enjoyable and I can wear these headphones for hours at a time without ear fatigue despite my massive dumbo ears.
And the battery! I can use these headphones for almost a full week everyday for 8ish hours and still have charge left over. Whatever Sennhesier has done to accomplish this has set a new standard for what you should expect from a top level set of ANC headphones.
Overall I would say they are a good set of headphones to own, and an even better deal if you're able to get them on sale. Look for a deal and it will be well worth your money.

I bought these for dual purpose - Teams Meetings at work, and for music.
The good...
The sound is great, nice bass, crisp high and clear mids.
The sound cancelling is fantasic.
Very comfortable, I can wear them for an 8 hour shift with no problems...no pressure on the top of my head or ears getting all sweaty.
Battery life if great - I know I can go the whole work week on one charge.
Now the bad - and I think it's mainly due to the software.
The touch controls - these can stop responding, I then need to essentilly reboot them to work again.
The touch controls can get a bit flaky, for instance double touching them should turn noise cancelling on/off but they can get into a state where it tell me "mute off" or "must on" but in reality, it kills the audio so I can't hear anything. Reboot to correct.
Connection will sometimes drop...maybe 1 or 2 times in a work day. Usually in this case the "press and hold" option on the touch pad will reconnect. This happens with work laptop and my cell phone so that leads me to think this is related to the head phones.
The touch pad might be impacted by hair, or clothing...but I have no hair that would impact that and I usually wear colarless shirts at work so that is not an issue. Maybe it's caused by random head movements?
Maybe someone can tell me if I can a defected set? If so, I'd appreciate it...thanks

The sound quality is Very Good to Excellent. There is sufficient Bass for most discerning audiophiles and in my opinion only the most extreme bass enthusiasts will require more. That being said, with the EQ that Sennheiser provides through their app... MOST people will be able to tune these to accommodate ALL of their listening preferences. They can be played loud enough to border on painful at full volume... but there's really (IMHO) no good reason to have to push ANY Quality headphones to their maximum limit.
Bluetooth works extremely well and can be connected to multiple devices at once. When my phone rings it stops playing audio from my TV/PC, and with a tap on the right ear, allows me to take calls without futzing with them.
The color is a deep dark blue which I find quite appealing, and the tan color of the cushioned areas goes very well with it.
The texture of the headband pad is slightly different (a bit thicker/smoother) from the ear cups, but both are very comfortable. The outermost ends of the headband are NOT padded, however you would have to have a very large head to run into issues with that. My head is quite big and since the headphones are very malleable when putting them over your ears AND they adjust quite a bit, I have no complaints with the fitment at all.
NOTE: I do have smaller ears than some, but there is a good 1/2 in of space around my ears, so these should actually work as Over The Ear Headphones and not borderline On The Ear Headphones for most people.
The ear cups being made of a softer more 'breathable' material then the headband means I can wear them for hours without any discernible discomfort.
While the headband is made of slightly different material it is still quite comfortable and should hold up to slightly more wear and tear (think bald guy) then the ear cups over time.
The ear cups are replaceable however I cannot find any replacement headbands as of the writing of this review.
I hope this helps.

I recently picked up the Sennheiser Momentum 4s from Best Buy, and I couldn’t be happier with them. The sound quality is excellent. Everything comes through clear, detailed, and well-balanced. Whether I’m listening to music or taking a call the audio sounds great every time.
The noise cancellation is really impressive. It blocks out background noise without feeling uncomfortable or overdone, which makes a big difference when I'm working or trying to relax.
Even though I didn’t get to try them on before buying, I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable they are. The ear cups are soft and breathable, and I’ve been able to wear them for hours without any issues. The battery life is also a huge plus. I’ve gone several days on a single charge without needing to plug them in.
The purchase experience at Best Buy was simple and smooth. The headphones were in stock, and I was able to get in and out quickly.
If you're thinking about upgrading your headphones, I definitely recommend giving these a shot. They're worth it.

Love these! I’m coming from the AirPods Max which are arguably the top of the leave for sound quality and ease of use, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from these. They are just as seamless to use as the AirPods, and they sound fantastic very lightweight, great for long wear. The noise cancellation is just a bit below AirPods but work great in almost every case you will actually use it for. Transparency mode does sound a little bit like you’re under a pillow, a little muffled. So, not great for having conversations through, but works great for just hearing your ambient surroundings. Love these, no regrets. Also battery life is the best I’ve ever experienced, 10/10
**Audio Jack note: these plug into a standard headphone jack, but the end that plugs into the headphones themselves is a smaller size. Just keep that in mind if you are using them as monitor headphones so you don’t end up with unusable audio cords.

I have owned and use many different kinds of earphones and earbuds. These Sennheiser Momentum 4 are the over ear version of my Apple Airpod Pros. The noise cancelling is awesome and really cuts down ambient noises. Combine that with music and these earohones can really remove you from a room. But the SOUND QUALITY of these Momentum 4s are INCREDIBLE! With the soecialized Sennheiser Smart Control Plus app, these headphones are taken to a whole other level. Bass boost option is available through the apo and it really cranks up the low end of your music. The mids and highs are comparable to higher end car audio builds, BUT DIRECTLY ON YOUR EARS!!! Compared to my okd Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2, Beats Solo, Bose QC, Sony M4, and the Marshall Monitor III, the Sennheiser Momentum 4 are the best overall!!! Plus the 60 Hours battery life WITH ANC activated is only beaten by the Marshalls at 70 hours, but cmon, whose gonna listen for that long straight anyways? Get you a pair of the Sennheiser Momentum 4 headphones and dive into your music!!!

Just got the Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 and wow…
Noise? Gone. Music? Crisp. Bass? Thumping.
Battery lasts so long I forget they even need charging.
Comfort level? Like wearing clouds.
Pricey? Yeah. Worth it? 100%.

Phenomenal sounded experience! I recently purchased a pair of headphones from Best Buy, and I must say, I'm absolutely blown away by the quality of the music they deliver. These headphones have elevated my listening experience to a whole new level.
The first thing that struck me was the clarity and precision of the sound. Every note, every instrument, and every lyric is rendered with astonishing detail. It's like I'm hearing my favorite songs for the first time. The bass is deep and thumping, while the highs are crisp and sparkling, creating a perfect balance that allows you to feel the music in its full glory.
Comfort is also a top priority for me, and these headphones don't disappoint. They fit snugly over my ears, providing both exceptional sound isolation and a comfortable feel during extended listening sessions. The padding on the earcups and headband is soft and plush, ensuring that I can wear them for hours without any discomfort.
Connectivity is seamless, thanks to the latest Bluetooth technology, and the battery life is impressive, giving me days of use on a single charge. The convenience of touch controls on the earcups makes it easy to adjust the volume, skip tracks, or take calls without reaching for my device.
Overall, these headphones are an audiophile's dream come true. The music quality is unparalleled, the comfort is exceptional, and the features make them a top choice for any music lover. I couldn't be happier with my purchase from Best Buy. If you're looking for a transformative music experience, these headphones are worth every penny!

The Momentum 4 Wireless headphones provide outstanding sound quality, featuring rich detail and a well-balanced profile that enhances every genre. The adaptive noise cancellation performs well, although it does not quite match the capabilities of Bose or Sony’s premium models. The true highlight of these headphones is their battery life—a remarkable 60 hours on a single charge, making them an excellent choice for extended listening periods. Comfort is commendable, with soft earcups and a lightweight build, although the design appears somewhat more conventional compared to earlier Momentum models. Connectivity is effortless, with aptX Adaptive support guaranteeing high-quality wireless audio playback. In summary, the Momentum 4 is an excellent choice for individuals who prioritize sound quality and battery longevity, even if the design lacks a touch of uniqueness. Please inform me if you require any adjustments!

I did quite a bit of research prior to purchasing these. I was really torn between the Sony XM4, XM5 and these. Coming from the original Sennheiser Momentum’s, I knew sound quality was going to be top tier, and I was absolutely not disappointed at all! The bass is the perfect amount of fill and it is so buttery smooth. The kids and highs are extremely crisp and not overpowering. The noise cancellation is pretty decent in my opinion. I tried the XM5s on and it does seem a bit better, but I was going for the sound quality over anything else. These headphones are extremely comfortable, I could wear them for hours on end without any discomfort at all. The battery life is unbelievable! Can’t say how many hours I have used them so far, but I have only charged them once, and I know I charged them pretty early (40-50%). There was some concern when I bought these as there were loads of reviews about buggy issues with the headphones, not turning off in the case, touch controls being buggy, etc… there was a firmware update a few weeks prior to me purchasing them, so not a lot of info regarding the fixes, but I can without a doubt say that this firmware update fixes any prior issue. I have had zero issues with connectivity, swapping between my PC and phone, turning on or off unexpectedly, etc. I would highly recommend these to anyone! Build quality is great and I have zero issues or concerns with the longevity of the build quality, everything is firm and solidly put together.

These headphones are awesome! I’ve had em for about 6 months and have charged them maybe 4 times.
After trying the Sony XM5 and Bose QuiteComfort, I decided battery live was more important than noise cancellation, which isn’t the best out of the three. In terms of sound, these just blew me away. Bose were also pretty great at that. Sony’s noise cancellation was killer, but it was too much for me to handle, I guess.
These aren’t the loudest. I can always turn it up but I’m used to listening at 55% on my AirPods. With the Momentum, I have to bump it up to 65-70% to get a similar output. This, after turning off the Dolby Atmos setting, per recommendation.
Sometimes when I put the set back on after taking a break the music won’t continue, as it’s supposed to. It’s inconsistent in that way.
I’m happy with my purchase, incredibly clear listening experience, great battery life and comfortable.
