These headphones sound great and have all the features that you could want. My only issue with them is they just couldn’t get loud enough. The noise cancelling worked great and the clarity of the music was excellent, I just needed more volume.

Now that these have dropped to $250 its easy for me to say that they are the best value in headphones for this price range. Bose are slightly more comfortable, the Sony's have better noise cancelling. However, for $100 cheaper and the best sound quality out of those three, the PXC 550's were an easy decision for me.

I bought these to replace my sony 1000x. The twist to turn off and on is a little weird. It turns off when I don't want it to. I feel the sound quality is at par with the 1000x. These are more comfortable than the sonys. I bought these on a sale hence was a good value .

I love the sound quality of these. Batter life has been great. Compared these to Bose and Sony for a long time before I pulled the trigger. I am not disappointed in choosing the Sennheisers. I regularly use these while doing yard work and on travel.

Pxc550 are the 2nd best in comfort to Bose qc35. They are 2nd best in features compared to Sony mw 1000. 2nd best in sound to Bowers & Wilkins px. The pxc 550 are 1st for Bluetooth. So for all the features that you want and need in a set of wireless headphones you can’t beat the pxc 550 = BEST. all the other brands fall short in one or more categories. For all round best wireless headphones pxc 550 are the best choice

I looked at many other models by other companies, before a sales associate suggested these headphones. They are relatively light and work well on the plane. I’ve had five flights with them and had no issues. Battery life is very impressive. The touch controls are very cool

Not the best noise canceling, but has a great sound and confortable. The controls of volumen, pause, play, skip, forward, answer and hang call is with gestures, it comes with manual but is easy to learn and use. The app is smart control.

sounds alright and the noise cancellation is just average, the sony Wh-1000xM2 are much better as well as the bose qc35-2. certain frequencies of base would cause a rattling sound from the drivers. The brand has a great reputation so i thought these headphones would mimic their performance. Another problem was that when i had the headphones connected to my laptop and my phone. the sound would cut in and out while playing music and i have never experienced this before with other Bluetooth headphones in this price range. The base overall is just not loud even though i was coming from the v-moda crossfade wireless. There is also a volume limiter on them so at max volume is only about 75% on any other headphone.

I ended up returning these. Bluetooth Audio has come a long way–I have avoided it as much as I can–but I still could not truly enjoy music with these headphones. I even tried these headphones wired, the digital compression was less obvious but the frequency response wasn't as flat as I like. The low to low-mids was lacking, not that I want my lows to be overdone like they are with Beats. The last thing that made it hard to like these headphones was the touchpad (?) on the right ear, there was no way to disable it so it made it easy to accidentally skip songs. The noise cancelling was very good and not overdone. They were very comfortable to wear.

The review is made in the perspective of a guy who (i) isn't an audiophile but enjoys live music, (ii) is a classical music lover, meaning that I'm not looking for the overblowing, electronically-boosted bass but clean sound from piccolo to low organ or double bass sound, and (iii) is a "rookie" in the higher-end headphones (I have several budget Sennheisers and Oontz's but also a Sennheiser HD 598SE and an Audio-Technica ATH-A700 which I enjoy immensely). I bought this PXC 550 because I wanted a set of wireless, good quality, noise cancelling headphones without breaking my bank. I ain't an impulsive buyer so I spent a few months researching for quality and features and a price that I am willing to spend. While I was ready to settle on the $40-$50 budget, mass-market headphones with reasonable quality (some people might know which brands and models I am referring to), Best Buy came up with this Sennheiser end-of-life model (replacing by 550 II) with a super attractive price. I grabbed a pair quickly after some doing some research and reading/watching some reviews. Build and design: I love this Sennheiser. Nice build. Comfortable. Fit my head and ears (I wear glasses). Some people complain about the on/off design but I am perfectly fine with it. However, I do agree with other reviewers that the touchpad on the right is a bit too sensitive. It took me a while to get use to the touch that controls the volume and the ANC bypass. Sometimes when I sit in my bed and lean back my head, the headphones stop playing thinking I am laying them down. This is annoying indeed. While some reviewers say that their ears don't get too warm after wearing the 550 for a while, my experience is different. I feel I get quite warm after listening to an hour long symphony or mass. Overall, I still like the design, build, quality, and features nonetheless. Sound: I listen to Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical music, world music (African, Asian, Middle Eastern, etc.), folk songs, contemporary music (CCM, pop, movie soundtracks), etc. I watch movies on my tablet. PXC 550 performs well. I like the clear and undistorted sound from these genres. (Not being an audiophile, I lack the vocabulary to describe the "tightness," "openness," etc.) I equate my listening experience with being in an orchestral hall for a live musical performance--balance from the performance itself without much post-production manipulation. The 550 produces crisp, clean, natural sound. Once I listened to a recording of Bach's Passicaglia in c minor on an historical organ in the Netherlands, I could faintly hear the mechanical sounds of the piston and levers in the background. What a joy! Noise cancelling: The 550 is my first pair of active noise-cancelling headphones so I cannot compare my experience with other ANC headphones. To be honest, based on my pre-purchase research and the reviews I read/watched, I had high expectations on the 550. That proved to be disappointing. Even if I turned the ANC setting to "high," I can still hear lots of conversation, TV noise, ambient sound, and my wife's snooring. Yes, the headphones reduce those noise but the noise is still too much if I want a quiet working environment (without turning of any music). If I play something over the headphones, they greatly reduce the ambient sound. My problem is, like many other musicians, that we don't (or can't) listen to music as we work--music attracts our subconscious intellectual and emotional engagement so that it takes away our focus in reading, writing, grading, sleeping, conversation, whatever (especially when the music is badly performed :)). I had hoped to use the 550 (without playing anything) to cut out the world's noise so that I could work quietly. That didn't work well. That being said, however, I tried out the headphones one time when I took the New York subway. It was amazing how the 550 cut out the low frequency huming sound from the subway, just like many reviews had said. I am eager to try the 550 on the airplane once COVID-19 is over. Overall, as my first set of Bluetooch, ANC, higher range headphones, I love the 550. Good battery life. Crisp and natural (real) sound.

I bought the Sony 1000, took it back because the mic was shoddy. I researched like crazy and spent literally hours trying to choose the best headset for home based business calling. These far exceeded my expectations! The pass through feature is great for being able to talk to my family with them still on. Calls are clear and crisp. The app lets you customize your usage of them as well! Sennheiser is a brand many don't know about, but they are huge in Pro Audio. That is my background so I already knew of their quality! I highly recommend these to others all the time. A bit pricy, but you get exactly what you pay for!

Not an audio expert, but do like the sound clarity. However, the noise cancelling is far from perfect. Other reviewers have mentioned the issues more clearly than I could. The Android app is very simple, has few features at all. The battery life is good, advertised at 30 hours, and that seems pretty close. Takes a bit to figure out the touch-motions of adjusting the phones, but they're pretty intuitive once you've used the phones a bit. If you can get it on sale, it's a decent set of phones. At full price, there are others that you might consider.
