This is my first time playing this game. I almost got the remaster but I heard this was coming out so I waited. It looks amazing. The gameplay is pretty good (it’s a little different but can be changed with controller changing options) The puzzles are great and so satisfying when you figure out how to take a colossi down. The only thing that bugs me in this game is the camera. It seems like it’s a free floating ai camera that does what it wants. But other than that, it’s worth the price!

I owned the original Shadow of the Colossus game when it came out on PS2, and it was an excellent game then. With the new graphics overhaul, the game has held up. Even more fun is I'm able to play this with my significant other, and we just pass the controller back and forth and enjoy rediscovering how to beat the Colossi. Beware of the controls though. They are EXACTLY the same as the PS2 installment. (You're going to be white-knuckling that R2 button!)

I've heard nothing but praise for this game, and I'm glad that it was all well deserved! The game looks beautiful on the PS4 (for a PS2 remake). The music was amazing, and the colossi were awe inspiring! I loved the story and the gameplay!
My only issue was the game did tend to be a bit glitchy at times. I would get stuck on things a lot even when there was nothing visible in my way.
But overall, it was an amazing game that I would recommend to everyone!

A remastered PS3 game that looks amazing on the PS4. If you have not played this game for the PS3, you should buy it for the PS4. It was an innovated game at the time of its release. I enjoyed the story because it had meaning based on the actions of player throughout the journey. It's one of those games you play to enjoy the journey and you become appreciative of the main character as he goes through his journey of saving his loved one.

BEAUTIFULLY Stunning Game, Gameplay a bit simple.

This game is a stunner in terms of graphics. Think of it as the Breath of the Wild for the PS4 with even better graphics of the environment and the colossi you fight. Other than that, the story is great but the gameplay is a bit simplistic. More puzzles than anything on how to beat each colossus. Worth a buy if you're a fan of classics and graphic intensive games.

I originally played SotC when it first came out on PS2. I was astounded at the animation and the sheer spectacle of the game. The hopeless romantic in me also fell for the idea of “how far would you go for love?” When I see the collossi towering above the wanderer in HD, I find myself revisiting those fond memories and feeling as though the game always looked this way. This is not to diminish the accomplishments of the developers, who have managed to recreate the forbidden land in stunning detail. I was worried that with all of the overhaul the soul of the game would be lost, but the game was made clearly as a labor of love and very little has been altered from the original. The UI has been streamlined, and the controls have been made to me a bit more intuitive by placing the jump button on X rather than Triangle. For old fans like me, there are numerous challenges to chase like time trials and harder ways of taking down each of the mighty collossi. The real joy for me has been sharing this game with my wife and watching her marvel the same way I did all those years ago. If you’re looking for something drastically new, there isn’t much here for die hard fans of the game outside of the few new challenges. However, if you have never played this game before, or you just felt nostalgic and want to share this classic with a loved one, then I highly recommend this game for a unique experience in story telling, gameplay, and boss battles.

More than a simple HD upscale of an amazing game. This is Shadow of the Colossus built from ground-up! Solid frame rates, beautiful graphics, and some of the best examples of games-as-art that one can find in any videogame. If this is your first time, BUY IT. You won't be disappointed. If you played it on PS2, or the HD collection on PS3, it's worth revisiting.

I wasn't much of a fan of the original game, but I was willing to give this game a second chance with the immensely updated visuals and smoother framerates. The game still has clunky controls, but at least now you have the ability to remap the controls. I'm halfway through the game now, and have enjoyed it so far. The original had atrocious and headache inducing framerates. This game runs so much better in every possible way. If you're playing it on the Pro, you have the option of playing it at an upscaled 4K, or lower the resolution to 1080p with 60fps framerate.

I played the original game on PS2 when it first came after loving ICO before it. I loved the game back then despite its flaws.
On the PS2, the flaws were the low framerate and the horrible camera. Fortunately, the framerate is now buttery smooth alongside the incredible graphics upgrade. However, the camera is still frustrating. The camera sometimes has a mind on its own. It is still definitely playable and enjoyable. The mix of puzzle solving and adrenaline rushes make this the definitive way to play this memorable game.

I played the original PS2 game and it was quite the nostalgic trip playing this remaster. This was not a quick and fast upscale of the original game, it was a thoughtful remaster and the graphics and art direction are perfect to the sad story. There's also an option for a more modern control scheme as the original control was a bit awkward.

First off this game is absolutely beautiful, the quality of the textures and art style make it hard to believe it was originally a PS2 game. The story is engaging with a killer ending creating an awesome adventure with serious tonal awareness. The only downside is the camera. The game will heavily dictate the direction of the camera angle making it hard to play when fighting bosses. Overall this game is epic. If you can put up with the camera, I highly recommend it if you’ve never played before.

An excellent update to a marvelous, breakthrough game
I have fond memories of putting hours and hours into the PS2 version of this game. I remember the sweeping landscape, atmospheric effects, the dramatic sense of scale to the colossi, and the gorgeous, cinematic musical score.
But, like many things fondly remembered, many aspects of the PS2 version of Shadow of the Colossus did not age well. That is why I was so excited to play it again on modern gaming hardware and an HDTV!

Immerse yourself in the story as Wander, a nomadic colossus hunter, and destroy 16 gigantic colossi by identifying the beasts' weak spots, located under glowing sigils. Digitally remastered for the PS4, Shadow of the Colossus is an engaging 4K journey enhanced with ultra-HD art assets and a stellar soundtrack.

This game was awesome back in its PS2 days despite its controls. This remake updates the graphics but maintains the amazing soundtrack. Yes, controls still aren’t perfect but they’re not so bad that it ruins the experience. A definite must buy whether you’ve played this or not.

One of the best PS2 game is now out for the PS4. A lot of people are complaining this game has bad camera and gameplay is odd but this is a PS2 remake. They can only do so much to it but the game is fantastic nonetheless. I recommend this game to anyone who played the original.

Best Version of the Game

Shadow of the Colossus is considered one of the greatest video games of all time, and a true testament to video games as an art form, and there's a reason for that. The atmosphere, visuals, subtle story, and more cathartic moments truly make this an experience above all else.
Bluepoint games, known as the masters or remastered, decided to remake Shadow of the Colossus from the ground up, and what we got is what you see here. The visuals are vastly improved, looking and running beautiful on the Playstation 4 Pro, and the controls have been refined, making for a tight experience that has your character doing what you want them to do (unlike the original version of the game).
For only $40, this game is definitely worth going through if you own a Playstation 4, and there's so much more to do outside of the main story for newcomers and old fans alike.
