I had never played the original, but was exited when the remake was announced. The graphics are cutting edge, and it's a beautiful game. Gameplay and the camera feels a little dated, but the atmosphere and experience can't be missed.

You can really see the love they had for the original when they made this game. Such a wonderful story and looks and sounds great. Controls are still a little last gen, but that just helps with bringing back memories.

A PS2 classic rebuilt and true to original

This is the PlayStation 2 classic shadows of the colossus rebuilt from the ground up but staying 99% true to the original. You wouldn’t know it was rebuilt except for quality of life improvements. If you’ve played the original or the remaster on PlayStation 3, this is the same game just even prettier. As for the game itself, it is a must play experience. Very little speech or text. It is you, your horse, a lush land inhabited by 16 collosus which you must seek out and destroy for your own reasons. The exciting action from this game comes from uncovering the colossus and learning how to board and climb them, scaling your way all around there frame to find their weak spots. Very serene and simple game with a good sense of accomplishment.

Quite challenging, each colossus battle takes a long time and is significantly difficult as you go on. It's quite pretty to look at as well. As an aside, this game has probably the best horse animation I have ever seen.

In this game you just roll around and kill the colossi. It’s just like fighting 16 ish boss battles with none of the middle men. Control of the character wasn’t as smooth as I would have liked and it was a little more grinding than fun. Graphics were pretty good, but I think this is like the third time the game has been updated.

Very unique experience. I have never played this classic game but experiencing it now it still very magical. It looks amazing, performs great and is only $40. My biggest gripe is that the controls are not stellar.

This is a great game Re-master. It runs and looks beautiful. Single player campaign, no multiplayer. It is story driven although there isn't much said/spoken throughout the game. This game is about the journey.

I originally played this game on the Playstation 2 and I had to buy this again knowing that the graphics were completely redone for the Playstation 4. The boss battles were breath-taking but difficult at times. The frustration was well worth it at times to experience the story and the adventure.

This is one of the games you NEVER stop hearing about. Visually, it's just absolutely incredible. I was really surprised there. Once you get to the gameplay, the camera controls are nauseatingly terrible and the horse controls terribly. These were issues that existed in the original release, 1st rerelease, and now.

One of the best looking games I’ve ever played. May be the most visually detailed game I’ve played. Not extremely difficult to play and not much to it, but extremely enjoyable. Very Zelda-like.

Having played this game for the first time, I quite liked the atmosphere. There is a constant sense of calm and tranquility (until you fight the colossi) . The story is unique and game play varies with each colossus. It's a nice game to pick up if you're looking for a nice casual game to relax to.

If you've played the game before, you'll love what this remake has done with it. If this is your first outing with the game, you'll never need to look back. A must buy for PS4 owners.

I was absolutely amazed by the visual upgrades to this game. This is my first time playing the game, but I can still remember watching my friend play it on the PS2. The lighting effects are probably the best that I’ve ever seen in a video game, so I tip my hat to the developers for putting so much effort into this remaster. However, the visual upgrades would be meaningless if the game wasn’t fun. Thankfully, the game is very good. The enormity of the collisi adds to the atmosphere of this game. I enjoy the puzzle of trying to climb the fur of these enormous beasts in order to take them down. I’d go as far as to say that this game is essential for any PS4 owner.

    A Classic, Revisited

I never finished Shadow of the Colossus when it came out on PS2. I didn't finish the remastered rerelease for PS2, either. Each time, I made it decently far, but for the time in which the game captivated my attention, very little could pull me from it. In what I've seen of this PS4 remake, the magic is perfectly preserved, while also spruced up in a number of small, quality-of-life ways to help "modernize" the game in some inoffensive ways. The graphics feel clean, but retain the impactful and oppressive art direction of the original. There are a number of control settings to play with to help you find the best fit for climbing and slaying each of these elemental behemoths. And, of course, the sound, the score, and the mood of the game are just as impactful as ever. Will I finally finish SotC this time around? Who's to say? I hope so. Maybe third time's the charm. But even if I don't, I'm very glad to be revisiting this dark, gargantuan odyssey once more in a package that clearly cares about its source material.

This is a pretty cool remaster of the 2005 PS2 game. If you liked that, I'm sure you'll like this one. If not, it may seem a bit empty compared to the AAA games we see nowadays. It's still atmospheric and thematic, and it'll definitely leave you with some interesting things to think about.

Almost peaceful. This game will not lull you to sleep, but the great graphics and simple story is so great to watch and look at. The battles are all interesting, but the ones where you have to bring in other elements are especially challenging and rewarding. Worth a second play.

I did enjoy my experience with the game. I did find the storyline interesting. One of the most beautiful graphics I have ever seen in a video game. However, the control scheme is archaic and shows its age, even though it has been improved. And although the storyline itself is interesting, it is a little disappointing that there is not much (if anything at all) to do in the beautiful landscape other than immediately go fight the Colossi. The Colossi themselves are very well designed and awe-inspiring to witness, and taking one down truly feels like a significant achievement. I would recommend this game on the basis of its beautiful graphics and the sight of the Colossi. I would recommend the purchase of this game, but it is a little overhyped.
