I hadn't played the original, but always wanted to give it a shot. The world the game creates is beautiful, but so is every game nowadays. It's got a solemn feel to it, a game with a mostly lifeless world. The only life you encounter is the ones you're extinguishing. It's a different game than most any others that have been created. That said, it's a beautiful story. If you can appreciate story in a game, this one is incredible and will be thoroughly enjoyed. Be wary the game still plays like it's 15 years old, for both better and worse.

Director Fumito Ueda has made two of the greatest video games of all-time: Ico being the first, and Shadow of the Colossus being the second. This version for the PS4 has been redone from the ground up and it is absolutely stellar! The controls are even better than they've always been and the graphics are simply gorgeous! BUY THIS!

Having played the original Shadow of the Colossus on the PS2, I was super excited to see a remake coming out for the PS4. As soon as I had the opportunity, I picked it up, and I couldn't be happier. The visuals are amazingly well done, it plays smoothly, and feels just as grand and huge as it did the first time I played. Can't recommend it enough.

I played this game a long time ago on the PS3 and it was one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen, so I was hoping it would go to another level on the PS4. It certainly did that and more. This game is one of the all time greats and its remastered version on the PS4 emphasizes the aesthetics of the game even more so.

It is always an interesting experience seeing a beloved classic given new life through the more advanced graphics and game design of the modern age. Playing this game has been a lovely experience in not just indulging in some nostalgia with a classic, but seeing how far the technology has come in a relatively short time.

This game was so good on the PS2, it was one of only a small group of games that I ever finished. Every day after I got off work, I couldn't wait to play it until I had to go to sleep each night. Took a week or two to beat the whole thing. If you've already played it, get this updated version. Looks Gorgeous in HD!

I bought this game purely for the fact that this is not just another remastered, but a remake. Meaning it's not just an upgrade in visuals with the same rough edges from previous console generations with a coat of paint, but instead, done again with graphics of those in current generation and gameplay improvements.

This is my third time buying this title. PS2, PS3, and now on the PS4. If there ever were a game to point to to show detractors why video games should be considered art, this is it.
This was even used in the independent film Reign Over Me starring Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle as a beautiful metaphor.

3rd time buying the game.... First purchase was on the PS2, then picked up the PS3 HD remake. This time the visuals have been completely redone for the current gen. This title does not disappoint. The visuals in conjunction with the soundtrack makes this title timeless. This game is a must for any PS collector!!!!

This game is the same from the past generation, touched up a bit in terms of graphics and performance. Don't be fooled though, this is still a masterpiece. If you haven't played it before, get this one. I have truly enjoyed it from start to finish and I consider myself an OK gamer (15 Platinums to date).

I have to agree with the other not so great reviews. This game just is not that much fun. You do the same thing over and over and struggle doing it because the controls are so wonky. I gave it a 3 star because fighting the colossi can be enjoyable, if only for a few minutes, and the graphics and landscape are really well done.
I finished the game only because I paid $40 for it.

Beautiful remaster!! There were times I would stop playing and just move the camera around it’s so beautiful. Gameplay itself is simple and fantastic. Engaging puzzles trying to defeat the giant monsters. Really just an all around fantastic game!

The remaster of Shadow of the Colossus is epic. Finally all 16 Colossi are in true HD and they look brilliant. The world looks alive and the details are great. There aren't too many additions but for any fan of this game it's a no brainer. Playing this game on the Ps4 in HD is worth the price!

If you've never played shadow of the Colossus then this graphics redo should be at the top of your list. The intended purpose of this re release was to enhance the graphics and all around game play for new generations and they deliver with a few extra touches. For instance, I didn't expect an audio upgrade or different voice acting but it was added to this project. Having played the original ps2 version and 3d rerelease on PS3 I have to admit I'm not a fan of this but given that the game isn't dialogue heavy this most definitely isn't a deal breaker. With additional graphics settings this game can be enjoyed to it's full potential on any hdr TV. As far as any other changes to the game go, there really aren't any notable ones but that's good. A classic like this hardly needs a reinterpretation. Though I will say this, I don't believe you can top the initial 3d rerelease on PS3. Granted it was just a ps2 upscaled port the 3 dimensional feel made this game pop but unfortunately the shift from 3d to higher resolution has been decided. But definitely worth checking out if you get the opportunity. Controls seem a bit more clunkier than I remember and our protagonist seems clumsier too but that may be due to the graphics retouch. But for a game that has survived two generational ports I'd expect no less. It isn't bad but worth noting. And that's why I give it 4 stars. This was a tough rating but I stick with it. The price point is right, visually and audibly they seemed to achieve what they set out to do but I can't shake the feeling of having enjoyed myself more on the previous iteration. That said I'm thankful this work of art has survived another generation.
