Powerful Vacuum

We have been using this vacuum for a week and are very pleased! The vacuum features robust suction capabilities, effectively accommodating both laminated and carpeted flooring through its floor detection technology. As advertised, the vacuum adjusts its suction based on the floor it has detected beneath it. We are cat owners, and love that it can brush and suck up the cat hair on our laminated floors. As advertised, no hair has gotten caught up in the rollers. While being a powerful vacuum the scent of the Odor Neutralizer Technology is very recognizable as you can smell the pleasant scent of the cartridge while you are vacuuming. We also like the fact that the vacuum has powerful LED lights to help you see where you are going in low lit areas as it will grab everything in its path if you aren’t watching closely. Just ask the blanket that I got too close to. 😊 The dirt cannister is clear so that you can see when it’s full and what is being picked up and it easily detaches and re-connects for disposal of the debris. The unit itself is light weight and agile and easily locks back into place in the upright position and goes back down with your foot holding it in place. It comes with several attachments, but we do feel its best use is vacuuming various floor types.
Overall, we could not be more pleased with the results of this powerful vacuum and would recommend it for anyone with or without pets.

Smart Vacuum that Adapts and Thinks for You

After two decades of dealing with complex systems, I've learned to spot when "smart" technology is actually smart versus just marketing fluff. The Shark Detect Pro Lift-Away ADV falls firmly in the first category. Here's the thing about vacuum sensors, most are about as intelligent as a light switch. But Shark's DuoClean Detect system? It's like having a cleaning assistant that actually pays attention.
Setup was refreshingly straightforward, no app required, no Wi-Fi passwords to fumble with. Just plug it in and go. The build quality immediately stood out: solid construction without being tank-heavy. The various attachments click in securely (though I'll admit, finding a good storage spot for all of them remains an eternal vacuum challenge). What really caught my attention was how the sensors responded right out of the box, no calibration needed.
The four-sensor system is where this vacuum earns its keep. Think of it like this: most vacuums are one-trick ponies, but the Detect Pro is running multiple diagnostic checks constantly. The Floor Detect uses ultrasonic sensors to differentiate between carpet and hard floors, automatically ramping up the brushroll speed when it hits your area rugs. Edge Detect is particularly clever: when you get within two inches of a wall, it kicks into overdrive. No more going back with a crevice tool to get those stubborn dust bunnies along the baseboards.
In daily use, this thing is a workhorse. I've thrown everything at it, pet hair from two cats, tracked-in dirt, cereal spills, and the perpetual dust that seems to materialize from nowhere. The self-cleaning brushroll handles hair like a champ. Unlike my previous vacuum where I'd spend 10 minutes cutting hair out of the brush every few uses, this one just keeps going. The Lift-Away feature proves its worth when tackling stairs or reaching cobwebs in corners. Yes, it's corded, which feels a bit old-school in 2025, but you're trading convenience for consistent, powerful suction that doesn't fade after 20 minutes.
Who's this best suited for? If you've got a mix of carpet and hard floors, pets, or just appreciate technology that adapts to your needs rather than the other way around, you'll love it. The HEPA filtration with Anti-Allergen Complete Seal works quite well. At this price point, you're getting features that compete with vacuums costing significantly more. The main limitation? It's not cordless, so if you're looking for grab-and-go convenience for quick cleanups, this isn't it.
Bottom line: Is it perfect? No vacuum is. But if you want a vacuum that thinks while it cleans and delivers consistent results without constant fiddling, the Detect Pro is worth every penny. After years of fighting with vacuums that required manual adjustments for every surface change, having one that just figures it out on its own feels like a small miracle. The 5-year warranty is just icing on the cake. Shark clearly stands behind this tech, and after putting it through its paces, I can see why.

A Fantastic Cleaning Machine!

I have had two or three Shark vacuums similar to this model and I absolutely love them. As a matter of fact, all of my flooring tools are Shark brand tools and you can't go wrong with any of their products.
I was so excited to use the new Shark Detect Pro Lift Away ADV Pro vacuum. Assembly was very simple and the instructions walked me through everything I needed to know to get up and running in no time. I also like the attachments it comes with. One of the tools looks to be a tool to clean the dust off ceiling fans which is fantastic!
This vacuum is quite advanced. It can detect if you are on carpet or hard floor and switch modes automatically which is a very cool feature. One feature I really like about this vacuum is that if I accidentally unplug the cord from the wall while the vacuum is running, when I plug the cord back in, the vacuum is in an OFF state and does not return to the previous ON state. This is nice because I don't like plugging anything in when the power is ON and with this vacuum, you don't have to worry about that.
The vacuum features a self cleaning brush roll which claims to prevent hair wrap around the roller. Only time will tell if this is the case but I hope it is and I hope it works well because I hate when my roller gets hair wrapped and I have to cut all the hair off.
The suction on this vacuum is excellent! I love these Shark vacuums because the suction power is just so great and it doesn't lose suction over time. Another fantastic feature of this vacuum that both my wife and I love is the odor neutralizer. It makes it smell nice and fresh after vacuuming. I've had vacuums in the past that, over time, develop a musty odor. I'm hoping this prevents that. With regular cleaning and filter changes, coupled with the odor neutralizer, I don't see this vacuum developing an unpleasant smell.
So far, I am very impressed with this vacuum and it's a pleasure to use. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality vacuum that exceeds expectations when it comes to performance.

A Great Dependable Vacuum!

With 2 children under the age of 3 and 2 small dogs, vacuums are a necessity in my home. So, when looking for a vacuum I’m always searching for a model that can withstand daily use and hold up over a long period of time. Shark is a vacuum brand I am very familiar with, having owned many different versions over the last few years. I was excited to get my hands on this year’s Detect Pro Lift Away model to see what improvements they’ve made!
Out of the box setup is always a breeze with Shark. It comes with clear instructions, but it’s always a logical assembly with their products. What struck me immediately was the new green color of the vacuum. It’s a sharp and rich color that gives the vacuum a little bit more of a sophisticated look from previous models. The weight of the vacuum is just right, not too heavy and not too light. I popped in the included scent neutralizer and off we went!
First time use of the vacuum is straight forward. There’s a knob on the unit itself to change the different type of modes with the vacuum, which is different than previous models I’ve owned where the settings are on the handle. There is a detect mode which we’ll get into shortly and a hardwood floor, area rug and thick rug setting. The initial feeling of the vacuum itself is that it glides very smooth across the floor. Some vacuums feel labored, this one has a nice push and pull feeling too it. The vacuum will adjust its power when you are pushing and pulling it to work just as strong in reverse as going forward! The detect setting utilizes sensors underneath the vacuum to be able to tell the difference between styles of flooring but also detecting dirt and other debris and adjusting the suction accordingly. The vacuum can also detect when you’re up against a corner and adjust suction as well! Testing this feature out I found it to be very responsive and pretty intuitive. Usually corners and baseboards are tough to get to but I found the extra suction helped to really pick up the dust it needed to! The vacuum also has the ability to “lift-away” from the base unit to clean stairs, upholstery or blinds. It does come with a few attachments like a anti allergen dust style attachment for blinds, a crevice tool, and a pet attachment. The one attachment that is missing from previous years models is the powered pet attachment. They have it for sale on the website but I feel that should have been included! The vacuum also has a 99.99% percent Anti Allergen complete seal with a Hepa filter. The filter is easy to clean by just running it through water and allowing it to dry.
Overall, the vacuum has done a great job so far! It’s always humbling to use your vacuum when you think you have a clean home and then you see how much dirt these vacuums pull out of your couches and carpets. Shark is always a dependable brand that you can trust. If you’re looking for a solid vacuum that doesn’t break the bank and has the ability to detect floors and change settings as you go from room to room, this is the one you're looking for!

Lots of power with little adjustment

In comparison to other Shark models I've owned, this is easily the most powerful model I've used. True to claims, suction in every direction with extra power when needed/ detected.
My home is mostly hard wood floors and laminate with a rug or two strewn about. With my last vacuum, you needed to manually adjust the floor type to get the best cleaning result. This model has an automatic floor detection, and it works. Not sure how, but it does. Seems minor, but it's nice to just keep going while the vac figures it out. On the kitchen and bathroom floors, the average cycle is cut in half due to the reverse suction. Once again, small but mighty feature.
Cleaning light is very bright which makes it easy to spot dust hiding in plain sight. A negative compared to my last model is there is no light on the handle once detached. It came in handy, but not a deal breaker.
The fragrance cartridge is a nice touch, but I'm hoping this isn't the solution for keeping smells out of the vacuum. That was a big issue with my last model, and this one claim to be able to avoid that issue. Only time will tell.
The build is interesting. Not as heavy as my last build, but that helps when shuffling around. Lighter materials used in construction which I hope is not a sign of cost cutting. Feels sturdy, so once again, only time will tell. That being said, I do appreciate the 5-year warranty.
So far, I'm very happy with this model. The sensors and multidirectional suction really do cut my cleaning time down and this vacuum has been able to handle anything I throw at it. It has all the attachments needed for dusting and deep cleaning; you just need to put forth the effort.

Awesome Vacuum

Vacuum is lightweight and easy to maneuver. Powerful suction and picks up everything on my carpet and rugs. The detachable hose is very convenient for ease of use on my steps so I don’t have carry the entire vacuum down each step while cleaning. The 3 settings are great for hardwood floors, low carpet and high carpet. I use the high carpet setting for my carpets and rugs and the hardwood floor setting for picking up crumbs in my kitchen. The deodorizing disc gives off a fresh cleaning scent throughout the entire house. The vacuum also has a sensor that picks up dirty carpet spots using the dual brush rolls for a deep clean. The dirt chamber detaches from the main unit and can be emptied from the top or the bottom. I’d say the only thing that I don’t like about it is that it doesn’t sound like your normal vacuum. It’s more of a deeper slightly lowered sound than a normal vacuum. It’s not deal breaker though as it does everything else so well. One of the best vacuums I ever owned. Shark products are reliable and are products you can always rely on for quality and performance.

Great vac for multi floors!

I've been using stick vacs for a while now and I think a regular full size vacuum is still needed at times. I really like the shark brand, so I thought I would give this guy a try.
It has a couple downsides but overall it's great. The suction is amazing! Of course it is on a new vac but keep the filters washed and it will keep great suction. It makes your home smell great too, with the scented disk that goes in the brush head.
The dirt bin is super simple and well designed. No wierd parts inside for debris to get jammed in. Both ends open to make it super simple to dump. I have to dogs that absolutely love to rip apart stuffed toys and get the stuffing everywhere! Iykyk. Stick vacs won't do in getting that mess cleaned up, so I have to be on my hands and knees to pick it all up. No longer! This shark vac has sucked up all stuffing and paper towels my dogs can sneek and shred up. No clogs! Amazing!
I have a mixture of rugs, hard floors, and carpet. The multiple suction settings make cleaning anywhere easy. The headlights are nice and bright to see all dirt, they turn on and off depending on which side is close to edges and gets boosted suction.
The lift off part is kinda a gimmick. Only the brush roll comes off, so no big deal. The power cord is a drawback. It needs to be at least 10 feet longer and retractable would have been nice. The biggest design flaw, which is still there with all the shark uprights, where the hose attaches. Up in the middle instead of at the bottom. I have pulled it over to bruise my feet too many times! You'll have to hang on to the vacuum at all times when using the wand.
Those things are a bit of a hassle but overall I do recommend this vacuum. Lots of great features.

Satisfying Cleaning Experience

[PROS]
Powerful Suction: The vacuum picked up everything in its path. I was happy with the reduced number of passes I had to make across any given area compared to my other vacuum. It was able to be just as efficient going backwards as it was moving forward.
Competent Features: I must say that the model name can be overwhelming given it highlights the capabilities of the vacuum. It's easy to be pessimistic that this includes a bunch of fancy, technical "mumbo jumbo", but the features really work. The 802 (Model Number) intelligently detected the type of surfaces I was on when I switched between the bare floor and area rug. However, I was most impressed with the edge detect system which made it easier to clean the nooks and crannies of corners. It's not perfect as the detection systems aren't instantaneous, but they did adjust suction quickly. Fortunately, the sensors can be cleaned and there is a fallback system to manually toggle modes via the easily accessible dial found on the top of the vacuum.
Protection: Products have a lifespan, and will eventually stop. However, its frustrating when things fail after the return period and barely beyond the standard warranty. With all of the "smart" features in place, it's good to know that the vacuum has 5 year warranty.
[CONS]
Nitpicks: My "knocks" against the vacuum are more about personal preferences. The vacuum is easy enough to maneuver, but I would have been more pleased that it had swivel motion included. Also, it comes with three attachments that have been useful, but only 2 of them can be stored on the vacuum while in use. I had hoped for an additional slot or storage caddy for them.
[CONCLUSION]
Vaccums are graded by how well they can pick the dirt and debris you're trying to target. From my experience so far, I can confidently say that this device is more than capable to execute such a task, and it performs the job very effectively. Furthermore, the warranty provides peace of mind if all else fails.

Super Vacuum!

Context: I am a cat person with mostly hard flooring, some carpeted stairs, a wool area rug that sheds as much as the cats and the cordless stick vacuums that I already have just aren’t up to the task anymore.
Enter the Shark Detect Pro® Lift-Away® ADV Bagless Upright Vacuum! It has met all my expectations and more.
To start with, the large capacity, bagless canister effectively traps everything and makes emptying a breeze. There’s the standard level of dust when you empty the canister, but I just always step outside to do that. The DuoClean Detect system makes transitions in the rollers and power being used seamlessly as you move from rug to carpet to laminate.
The Anti-Allergen and Odor Neutralizer Technology are additional features that enhance the overall cleaning experience. These technologies ensure that not only is your home cleaner, but it also feels fresher and more pleasant. The Anti-Allergen technology is especially beneficial for those with allergies, as it helps to capture and trap allergens (have I mentioned the copious amounts of cat hair?)
The Lift-Away® feature, which allows you to detach the canister and easily clean hard-to-reach areas. This makes it incredibly convenient for cleaning stairs, upholstery, and other areas that are sometimes difficult to vacuum.
The cord is plenty long for my modest townhome & it’s not too heavy to transport upstairs when needed. In terms of usability, the Shark Detect Pro® is user-friendly and easy to maneuver. The controls are intuitive, and the vacuum glides smoothly across different surfaces.
Probably the only downside is that the included upholstery head is non-powered- i.e. it has no roller- but I may well simply purchase that to make sure that getting cat hair off the sofa is as effective & efficient as possible!
