Lots of power with little adjustment

In comparison to other Shark models I've owned, this is easily the most powerful model I've used. True to claims, suction in every direction with extra power when needed/ detected. My home is mostly hard wood floors and laminate with a rug or two strewn about. With my last vacuum, you needed to manually adjust the floor type to get the best cleaning result. This model has an automatic floor detection, and it works. Not sure how, but it does. Seems minor, but it's nice to just keep going while the vac figures it out. On the kitchen and bathroom floors, the average cycle is cut in half due to the reverse suction. Once again, small but mighty feature. Cleaning light is very bright which makes it easy to spot dust hiding in plain sight. A negative compared to my last model is there is no light on the handle once detached. It came in handy, but not a deal breaker. The fragrance cartridge is a nice touch, but I'm hoping this isn't the solution for keeping smells out of the vacuum. That was a big issue with my last model, and this one claim to be able to avoid that issue. Only time will tell. The build is interesting. Not as heavy as my last build, but that helps when shuffling around. Lighter materials used in construction which I hope is not a sign of cost cutting. Feels sturdy, so once again, only time will tell. That being said, I do appreciate the 5-year warranty. So far, I'm very happy with this model. The sensors and multidirectional suction really do cut my cleaning time down and this vacuum has been able to handle anything I throw at it. It has all the attachments needed for dusting and deep cleaning; you just need to put forth the effort.

    Awesome Vacuum

Vacuum is lightweight and easy to maneuver. Powerful suction and picks up everything on my carpet and rugs. The detachable hose is very convenient for ease of use on my steps so I don’t have carry the entire vacuum down each step while cleaning. The 3 settings are great for hardwood floors, low carpet and high carpet. I use the high carpet setting for my carpets and rugs and the hardwood floor setting for picking up crumbs in my kitchen. The deodorizing disc gives off a fresh cleaning scent throughout the entire house. The vacuum also has a sensor that picks up dirty carpet spots using the dual brush rolls for a deep clean. The dirt chamber detaches from the main unit and can be emptied from the top or the bottom. I’d say the only thing that I don’t like about it is that it doesn’t sound like your normal vacuum. It’s more of a deeper slightly lowered sound than a normal vacuum. It’s not deal breaker though as it does everything else so well. One of the best vacuums I ever owned. Shark products are reliable and are products you can always rely on for quality and performance.

    Great vac for multi floors!

I've been using stick vacs for a while now and I think a regular full size vacuum is still needed at times. I really like the shark brand, so I thought I would give this guy a try. It has a couple downsides but overall it's great. The suction is amazing! Of course it is on a new vac but keep the filters washed and it will keep great suction. It makes your home smell great too, with the scented disk that goes in the brush head. The dirt bin is super simple and well designed. No wierd parts inside for debris to get jammed in. Both ends open to make it super simple to dump. I have to dogs that absolutely love to rip apart stuffed toys and get the stuffing everywhere! Iykyk. Stick vacs won't do in getting that mess cleaned up, so I have to be on my hands and knees to pick it all up. No longer! This shark vac has sucked up all stuffing and paper towels my dogs can sneek and shred up. No clogs! Amazing! I have a mixture of rugs, hard floors, and carpet. The multiple suction settings make cleaning anywhere easy. The headlights are nice and bright to see all dirt, they turn on and off depending on which side is close to edges and gets boosted suction. The lift off part is kinda a gimmick. Only the brush roll comes off, so no big deal. The power cord is a drawback. It needs to be at least 10 feet longer and retractable would have been nice. The biggest design flaw, which is still there with all the shark uprights, where the hose attaches. Up in the middle instead of at the bottom. I have pulled it over to bruise my feet too many times! You'll have to hang on to the vacuum at all times when using the wand. Those things are a bit of a hassle but overall I do recommend this vacuum. Lots of great features.

    Satisfying Cleaning Experience

[PROS] Powerful Suction: The vacuum picked up everything in its path. I was happy with the reduced number of passes I had to make across any given area compared to my other vacuum. It was able to be just as efficient going backwards as it was moving forward. Competent Features: I must say that the model name can be overwhelming given it highlights the capabilities of the vacuum. It's easy to be pessimistic that this includes a bunch of fancy, technical "mumbo jumbo", but the features really work. The 802 (Model Number) intelligently detected the type of surfaces I was on when I switched between the bare floor and area rug. However, I was most impressed with the edge detect system which made it easier to clean the nooks and crannies of corners. It's not perfect as the detection systems aren't instantaneous, but they did adjust suction quickly. Fortunately, the sensors can be cleaned and there is a fallback system to manually toggle modes via the easily accessible dial found on the top of the vacuum. Protection: Products have a lifespan, and will eventually stop. However, its frustrating when things fail after the return period and barely beyond the standard warranty. With all of the "smart" features in place, it's good to know that the vacuum has 5 year warranty. [CONS] Nitpicks: My "knocks" against the vacuum are more about personal preferences. The vacuum is easy enough to maneuver, but I would have been more pleased that it had swivel motion included. Also, it comes with three attachments that have been useful, but only 2 of them can be stored on the vacuum while in use. I had hoped for an additional slot or storage caddy for them. [CONCLUSION] Vaccums are graded by how well they can pick the dirt and debris you're trying to target. From my experience so far, I can confidently say that this device is more than capable to execute such a task, and it performs the job very effectively. Furthermore, the warranty provides peace of mind if all else fails.

    Super Vacuum!

Context: I am a cat person with mostly hard flooring, some carpeted stairs, a wool area rug that sheds as much as the cats and the cordless stick vacuums that I already have just aren’t up to the task anymore. Enter the Shark Detect Pro® Lift-Away® ADV Bagless Upright Vacuum! It has met all my expectations and more. To start with, the large capacity, bagless canister effectively traps everything and makes emptying a breeze. There’s the standard level of dust when you empty the canister, but I just always step outside to do that. The DuoClean Detect system makes transitions in the rollers and power being used seamlessly as you move from rug to carpet to laminate. The Anti-Allergen and Odor Neutralizer Technology are additional features that enhance the overall cleaning experience. These technologies ensure that not only is your home cleaner, but it also feels fresher and more pleasant. The Anti-Allergen technology is especially beneficial for those with allergies, as it helps to capture and trap allergens (have I mentioned the copious amounts of cat hair?) The Lift-Away® feature, which allows you to detach the canister and easily clean hard-to-reach areas. This makes it incredibly convenient for cleaning stairs, upholstery, and other areas that are sometimes difficult to vacuum. The cord is plenty long for my modest townhome & it’s not too heavy to transport upstairs when needed. In terms of usability, the Shark Detect Pro® is user-friendly and easy to maneuver. The controls are intuitive, and the vacuum glides smoothly across different surfaces. Probably the only downside is that the included upholstery head is non-powered- i.e. it has no roller- but I may well simply purchase that to make sure that getting cat hair off the sofa is as effective & efficient as possible!

We got this Shark Detect Pro Vacuum a little over a week ago. Coming from another Shark vacuum that was 4-5 years old (that we always liked more than the prior Dyson), this new model had an overall familiar feel to it. Assembly is very easy and organized within the well design packaging. Up and running in less than 5 minutes after opening the box. Tried first on our medium pile carpet in family room (which we though was pretty clean) and I guess we are filthy pigs or something since it filled up 1/3 of the cannister! Did a great job with the dual roller system sucking stuff out of the carpet. Made nice pattern markings too. Next ran on part of the hard wood floor (changed the selector knob for that) and again, grabbed a whole lot of dust. Easy to empty from the cannister too. This vacuum really does a job! Some differences in usage: The handle and power/mode button location, the cord winding, handle design, and no clip for the bellows hose (just dangles and flops). Attachments and unclipping the long stick as well as just the handle portion are very easy (and easy to re-attach as well). I really hope we get another 4-5 years out of this thing! We have been very happy with both of our Shark vacuums!

    Very Nice Vacuum

I have been using Shark products for years. They continuously make improvements so I always love trying the latest and greatest. This vacuum was simple to put together and well protected with no damage when I pulled it out of the box. The cord is quite long and reaches across my den without having to be moved to another outlet. That is something I appreciate. Shark still provides a printed user guide as well as a quick start pictograph. Kudos to them for doing this it is also appreciated. My Lift Away included three attachments, the crevice, soft brush and a flat brush. There are storage places on the vacuum for only two attachments which is a bit annoying, for some of us oldsters out of sight is out of mind. This new version of the lift away has moved the power button and for me it inconvenient. It is no longer on the handle, but much lower, near the top of the bin. That brings me to the other new placement that is also an inconvenience. The mode selector, a turn knob located on the top of the floor cleaner. Both of these placements feel awkward and not intuitive. However, this vacuum has an automatic floor detection which makes the mode button easier just to set and forget. There is a feature for an odor filter that once installed was a bit overpowering but within minutes was unnoticeable. The smell isn’t great for my asthma so I won’t be using it. This vacuum is a bit heavier than my older model. It isn’t really noticeable as long as the beater bar is rolling which serves to help pull the vacuum forward. It is a bit harder for me to operate on my tile and hardwood floors because of the weight. This vacuum has great suction and cleans my carpet very nicely. It transitions to my multiple floor heights very well. I appreciate the speed boost for the roller brush when it adjusts from tile to carpet, especially when it finds cat litter on my hall runner. The edge/corner detection is a nice feature to get a suction boost when needed. The indicator lights let you know boost areas, corners and edges. The dirt collector seems to hold a bit more and is very simple to empty. Of course the lift away is so convenient and works beautifully. Shark makes great products and this vacuum is terrific.

    Get to the Edge

The Shark vacuums are truly my favorite brand. I remember when I was loyal to a previous vacuum brand (I won’t mention them) and thought that Shark was “beneath” me. And then, years ago, I had to borrow a Shark vacuum because my *another brand* stopped working properly. It was then that I was truly impressed and became a Shark user. The Shark Detect Pro Lift Away is another fantastic vacuum from Shark. Set-Up: The Pro Lift is incredibly easy to set up. No tools required. Unpack it and click the pieces together. Easy Peasy Performance: If you’re new to the Shark brand, then you will be ‘floored’ when you power up the Pro Lift. The suction of the vacuum is incredible! When it comes to cleaning, this vacuum stands on business. You are going to appreciate the floor detection feature. You can go from carpet to hardwood floor without needing to press a button. The brushroll adjusts accordingly. You can manually turn the power knob that switches the vacuum to the floor type that you are vacuuming. As I mentioned before, the Shark has some incredible suction, and that’s why I advise caution if you attempt to vacuum an area rug because the area rug edges will be pulled by the Pro Lift. Let me praise the Edge Detect. I will admit, I am lazy at times when I vacuum. Sometimes you just don’t ‘feel’ like using the vacuum wand to get the edges of the floor, but you know you’re supposed to. Well, the Pro Lift used Edge Detection and actually pulls the debris out as the Shark is facing forward. This is great for those dusk bunnies that attempt to escape their inevitable fate. The Pro Lift also has direction detect. This means it senses the direction you are traveling and automatically adjusts the suction accordingly, whether you are moving forward or backward. I think this is cool now that I am aware of it. Let’s talk about tackling vacuuming stairs. It’s not a cumbersome choir with the Shark. With the press of a button, the Lift Away section detaches, allowing you to use the hose attachment on the steps. Personally, I use the actual vacuum on each step because the brushroll goes deep into the carpet. The cord length is decent, so you shouldn't need to find another outlet each time you vacuum the room down the hall. I do wish the vacuum had a retractable cord with the push of a button. It Cleans: The Shark Detect Pro Lift Away stands on business when it comes to suction and ease of use. If you have pets, then you’re going to appreciate what this vacuum can do for your home. You will be shocked to see what it collects in the canister after your first use. The brushroll doesn’t get entangled with hair that you need to clear with frustration. The brushroll is self-cleaning. Whether this is your first Shark vacuum or perhaps you’re looking to upgrade from your previous vacuum, I think you will be pleased that a mundane chore got easier.

The Shark Detect Pro is the easiest to use Vacuums Ive had. The detect system both detects the floor type, your intended direction, and edges to make sure it gets everything. The Vacuum is not overly heavy and rolls with ease over all floor types. I recently moved into a new place with hard and carpet floors and the Shark gets both cleaned very well. The anti-allergen HEPA filter works very well with allergens and pet dander. Our 2 cats (soon to be 3) are super shedders and this has made keeping up with their shedding a breeze. My new place also has carpeted stairs which is new to me, and the Sharks detachable part makes getting the crevices and corners of the stairs easy. And maintenance is easy with the easily removable and hand washable filters. Just run under water, wait for drying and reinstall. Im very happy with the Shark detect pro. Its the perfect companion for keeping our multi floor types clean, and keeping up with the cats. The detect systems really do work. If you have pets, or just want one of the best multi floor type vacuums this is highly recommended.

Putting together the upright vacuum was fairly easy. Parts were easy to connect. Once plugged in I vacuumed in the living room, dining room, and den which has carpet. There is a knob on the vacuum that allows you to select one of the following settings: 1) Hard Floor 2) Capet Low Pile 3) Thick Carpet I selected Carpet Low Pile when vacuuming. The vacuum was able to detect hair that was embedded in the carpet and was also able to pull up powder and dirt that I didn't realize was there. The suction on this vacuum is impressive. In addition I used the long lift way handle to reach in hard places and the suction worked well too in the smaller and higher areas. I also vacuumed on the hallway floor and it did a good job as well. One thing to note is that the vacuum is a little heavy, however, with the rollers it moves with ease. The Shark Detect Pro has a lot of power and it reminded me of a new car that has speed. It could detect the type of floor, as well when I would turn corners with the vacuum. There were a few areas, where I knew I needed to use ;the long pod to reach those corners. There are three attachments that can be used. One that assists with cleaning the windows, the other for furniture, and the other for reaching up high. There is also an allergen feature Hepa filter built in and also a scent that emits as your cleaning the floor areas. Overall love this products. I would recommend to others. Glad to have tested this product. Will continue to use. PROS: Easy to put together Great suction Comes with additional parts Ability to reach higher places Cons: A tiny bit heavy for me, but not a big deal. The con outweights the pros.

This is our 3rd Shark Vacuum. This one has a new smart select sensor that allows you to set the vacuum to sensory mode, and it will automatically adjust the depth needed for the job. The assembly is simple, and instructions provide a clean how to. Once assembled, it works just like any other shark vacuum. There are 2 slots for attachments (one on each side). Our vacuum came with a 3rd accessory that doesn’t have a slot but it’s a huge deal. It has plenty of power and tackles any mess. The attachments are easy to access and to remove. The vacuum is very mobile as a full unit, or you can use the lift away feature for even more mobility. The lights are placed perfectly and bright enough to be effective. The dust canister is easy to access, remove, and clean. My only 2 concerns are that detect mode is a little finicky. It does a great job in detecting hardwood floors, but it’s a little slow at detecting the carpet. It seems to lag and bog down before switching…so we just have been using the manual switch method which works great. My other concern is the shortness/stiffness of the hose. If you are reaching for something high or low, it will pull the vacuum on its side. Neither issue are a huge deal as that’s not why we bought it. Overall, it’s a great performing vacuum with powerful suction.

The Shark Detect Pro is a decent vacuum that gets the job done. We have two big dogs and two cats so I was looking forward to giving this vacuum a go. After taking about 20 minutes to unbox and unwrap every single attachment, I fired it up and was impressed with the suction. Immediately, the Shark started inhaling all the dog hair and dirt. After a thorough pass with the Detect Pro, the canister was full of hair and dirt. I hadn’t even realized there was that much hair in the carpet. The attachments work as expected. I was able to remove the cat hair from the couch with the brush attachment. The Detect mode works well enough but I prefer to have that function off. I don’t need a vacuum cleaner that “detects” dirt. I also strongly dislike the odor eliminator attachment and just threw that away. Terrible smell. It should have just been a charcoal filter rather than an overwhelming scent. I found the cord to be too short. It should have been at least 5-10 feet longer. The other thing I was not impressed with was the cheap plastic feeling everything has. Definitely not premium, but at the end of the day, it’s a vacuum cleaner and it does the job well. Overall, it’s a decent vacuum with good suction and it gets the job done.
