Good start to something truly a game changer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In my opinion... when it comes to build quality and innovation, Shark is second only to Dyson products. Dyson have the highest build quality I've ever owned, but in some categories, they aren't the first company to introduce a product in a new genre... Enter Shark HydroVac. I'm a fan of cordless devices for the very simple fact of having it as portable and agile as possible. I'm completely fine with losing some power and duration versus a corded device. I don't need to use it for hours! Like most people my age, I like/prefer hardwood floors with a mixture of area rugs. Carpet rooms are so dated... Life before the introduction of the HydroVac, consist of vacuuming with a Dyson V12 Slim then using a Cedar Spray Mop. While it's functional in what I need to get done... There's always a slightly better more efficient way of getting it done. I had owned previous Shark vacuum and corded mops prior and know what to expect from the brand. Once I was introduced to the HydroVac, I would say it was something I was looking for as a replacement for my current setup. Initial unpackaging consist of the unit itself, a charging/docking bay and a small size sample solution. The first run with this was pretty good. On carpet is functional, where it shines is on hard floors. It did wonders on tiles and wooden floors. While I usually keep my floors fairly clean, it does wonders on small messes. After usage, docking it will enable the self-cleaning function. I HIGHLY recommend emptying the canister after every usage. The odor will drive you nuts! Overall... This is a great entry to a growing category. It is pricy, but worth the investment clean freaks. Do get it on sale though. Thanks.

great all around
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.very nice mop and vacuum combo. Although the vacuum part is not high end, it does do a pretty good job. It says area rug, our rug is not too fluffy, so I have been using it on that. Picked up a lot of stuff. If I have to complain about something, I feel like this always has to run the water and clean that way. I was hoping that maybe you could run it like a regular vacuum on either the hard floors or carpet to pick up things and then run it again with the cleaner. Like sweeping and then mopping after. But it does not do that. On a plus side, after doing the carpet it looked a lot cleaner and it did not feel too wet. The dirty tank can be a bit tricky to clean as far as the part that picks up items from the ground. I did not just want to wash it under water in a sink or tub as I felt it might clog up. I would suggest that maybe next models they add a filter or something that you can wash over to capture all the gunk. I like how it looks as well. It self-cleans itself which is also nice. You just place it in its dock station, make sure to have water in and press button and it cleans. Its cordless and fairly easy to use and great to not have cords get in the way. overall nice to have to mop and sweep at same time and vacuum and clean rug as well.

Its not a vacuum, its a HydroVac!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark 3 in 1 HydroVac turned out to be a very handy cleaning tool. The ability for the mop to pick up larger pieces of food, dirt and hair made for a one step process instead of two. Our hardwood floors typically need to be vacuumed/swept prior to any mopping for optimal cleaning. The vacuum aspect picked up our Husky's hair without clogging (wet hair clogs our normal vacuum). I also spilled oats on the floor to put the vacuum to the true test. The downfall of the vacuum function is that the wet dirt it picks up is difficult to clean out of the canister, and the canister isn't very big compared to the waste water and clean water canisters. It also doesn't have the suction power to handle most carpet/run areas. It worked well on the low profile Ruggable, but didn't have much impact on the area rugs. The mop head did a great job applying even cleaner to the floors and not leaving streaks. Our hardwood floors didn't show any overly wet spots or any dirty water areas. Our main floor is roughly 1,000 sf of hardwood flooring and the water canisters both didn't need to be emptied or refilled to finish the job. When we received the mop, we let it charge fully to get a good read on how long the battery lasts. We didn't have any issues with battery life, and the clean water canister ran out before the first battery bar went off (67-100%). Without charging it, we cleaned our floors again 2 days later. At that time, the first battery bar turned off. The self cleaning feature did a great job cleaning the mop head. We did have to remove the clear cover to wipe the excess dog hair and oats off that didn't get cleaned during the cycle. Since the charging dock is in the open, the self cleaning cycle is loud, so you won't want to run that if you plan on being around the docking station. Overall, the Shark Hydrovac is a great cleaning tool. It cuts the cleaning process in half as the vacuum works great on the hardwood floors. This wouldn't be the tool I would use to clean any major area rugs, or spills on carpet.

A powerful 3 - in -1 floor cleaning device
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I initially had my doubts about how well this product might work. I do not have a low of hard flooring outside of my kitchen and bathroom and my kitchen floor is far from new. When I first received the Shark HydroVac, my kitchen floor was badly in need of needing to be swept, vacuumed, and cleaned. There were plenty of debris on the floor, a few dirty spots that needed some overdue attention and son on. I left the Shark Hydrovac to charge until the battery was full, per their suggestions and it has a long runtime once it is charged. I was able to do my kitchen floor three times on the initially charge and two times on my most recent use of it. This product is great for a multipurpose use and replaces a few older methods of cleaning. I did find that if something is really stuck to the floor, you might need to apply some manual force to dislodge it. For surface cleaning, the Shark Hydrovac is easy to use and easy to maintain, with a built-in cleaning mode suggested for after each use. My floor feels clean in my bare feet, with no errand crumbs or other kitchenly things sticking to my bare feet when I traverse my kitchen floor. The Shark Hydrovac is easy to assemble, disassemble and clean, with an easy to remove wastewater compartment and removable filter. The product is lighter than you might expect and performs as well as a corded device in my humble opinion. I’m impressed, but it’s not as forgiving for really stuck on messes. It works great for everything else.

Great machine, highly recommended
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had a few different Shark products and overall they do not disappoint on the specialized equipment. If you have hard floors and dread mopping of any form, this is the product for you. Setup: Easy and takes little time to get the basics down. Cleanup: I had guests over and a puppy through my house, so I was able to really test this unit out. The only pre-cleaning was my robotic vacuum doing its usual business but otherwise the floor needed a good mopping. The self-cleaning system seems to work quite well, keeping the roller from carry dirt throughout the house, which anyone mop/steam cleaner will do. I used the included cleaner for the first time and then repeated with a diluted vinegar solution. I'd say there cleaner is better overall but the vinegar method works well overall, especially if using frequently. My floors were shiny clean with no residue. Power: Didn't have much issue with an approximate 800 sq ft. cleaning area. There's no actual rating on the battery life so I can't compare it to their specs. Other: I didn't use it on a spill so that's the main limitation to this review. The clean/dirty tank separation is also very nice. All in all, great vacuum and I would recommend it.

Not recommended for hair shedders
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife sheds hair like crazy. The maintenance I need to do EVERY. TIME. to clean this mop after each use is exhausting. I’m going to return for a Dyson V12 and just keep using a swiffer or steam mop. Less work than this.

SHARK HYDROVAC CORDLESS PRO XL
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Hydrovac cordless pro xl vaccum is lightweight and can be easily carried to any room. As a person who has to be careful when lifting items, I found this a plus. My favorite part of this vaccum is the suction ability. I tested the vaccum on a carpet, rug, and hardfloor. Out of the three, my favorite was the carpet and rug. I was very impressed with the vaccums ability to suction the water out of the carpet and the speed at which it dried. Having used other products in the past, where the dry time was very slow. The rate of speed that the carpet dried was quite impressive. I alos like that there are two different tanks areas. The one where you fill the solution in and then the area that the dirty water drops into. Additionally, it does not take a lot of time to charge the vaccum. The power of the vaccum last for a long time. Holding the vaccum was comfortable. Using the vaccum on hardfloors gets some use too. My preference for using this vaccum is for the carpet. I believe this vaccum is not an industrial vaccum, but meant for simple chores throughout the house. I would like to see a larger tank compartment, but this is not a deal breaker for me. Overall the product is nice.

Impressive multi-surface cleaner
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I always have high hopes for products similar to this but often find myself disappointed. So far I have been pleasantly surprised by how well this works. I have a healthy mix of carpet, hardwood floors, and tiles throughout my home so it's always a necessary evil to deal with different machines and tools to properly clean each surface. With this, that is cut down to just this machine (and for my plush carpeted rooms a dedicated vacuum as this is more suitable for low pile area rugs). This does a great job as a vacuum for my hardwood floors as well as the tiled areas to pick up dirt and dust prior to a deeper clean with the mopping function. The suction is amazing and my floors were left cleaner than I could have ever imagined (which made me realize all that time I THOUGHT my floors were cleaned well I was wrong!). The machine itself is lightweight and the battery life was on par for what I expected from cordless cleaners. The way the self cleaning mode manages to separate debris does help make emptying the tank easier (but you will be in awe of all of the muck your cleaning session produces....especially if you have children, pets...or in my case, teenage athletes that manage to track everything into the house). The Shark branded concentrate leaves a nice fresh scent as well.

Amazing floor care product
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been hesitant to jump into the "mop/ Vac combination" market for a while. I have long thought that there is no way that these two cleaning processes could be combined effectively. This shark hydrovac eased all of my previous hesitation and then some. This thing is awesome. It is easy to use and delightfully effective. For those with hard floors, small children, and no pets to help "clean" I can't recommend this enough. Pros: Ease of use: I have owned a great deal of cleaning apparatuses in my life and far too many are overly complicated. I honestly just need something that will work. This machine does exactly that. Fill the solution/ water up, press the button and you are off. The dirty water bin comes apart nicely and the self cleaning is great. Effectiveness: Like I said at the top, I was hesitant to believe that this would actually work well. I am happy to say that this has become the star of the nightly cleaning routine and will remain so for quite some time. Cons: Honestly, none. This thing is amazing.

Let's me do two things at once
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had a cordless spin mop for a number of years that I was generally satisfied with - but that left much to be desired. Including the fact that I would need to vacuum first and then mop. Not to mention that the mop pads usually got dirty before I could complete mopping. This Shark mop and vac unit (HydroVac) is a much better solution. I love the fact that I can load up the clean water dispenser with cleaning solution and go to town vacuuming and mopping the floors at the same time. The roller brush does a really good job of collecting the waste particles as well as scrubbing the floor with the wet cleaning solution. The vacuum also does an effective job of sucking up all the bits (you see deposits in the dirty water tank when you dump and clean out the tank). The roller brush does seem to stay clean throughout the process - it doesn't seem to leave deposits behind. The floors are obviously damp after use, but not wet. Using the manufacturers cleaning solution, the floors dry within a minute or two. I like that, when the unit is not being used, it sits on a base that charges the battery. It is very easy to drop it into the base and then go on with your business. I've used up the clean water (and filled the dirty water dispenser) and the unit still has a lot of charge remaining (an indicator shows the charge level), so it appears that charge will not be an issue. Have used it on tile and hardwoods - and love the results on both. Definitely recommend...

More mop than vacuum cleaner
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a different type of floor cleaner than I had before. What interest me in this product was the versatility, and the "self-cleaning" feature. Coming from a variety of vacuums (upright, handheld, canister). I had never used one that was a wet-vac, so I wasn't sure what to expect, other than this seemed like a good option on my hardwood floor and the bathrooms. When I first received the Shark Hydrovac, I was pleased to find that it would not take me a half hour to assemble. There was very little in the box - the main vacuum unit, the handle and it's pole, the cleaner concentrate, and the instructions. That's it. Hanging from the handle was a little card on a piece of string with a QR code. This takes you to the Shark website where they have a couple of videos that walk you through what the Hydrovac can do and how to use it. Watch this! It's much easier to learn this way. The Hydrovac has two water canisters. One is for the reservoir, which you mix fresh water and the cleaner concentrate The other is a separate canister that is divided into two sections - one for waste water, and the other for solid debris. It took me a moment to understand how this works and where you would poor out the waste water (the video isn't very clear about this part, but all of this comes apart making it easy to clean. When you are done, you simply remove both canisters, poor out the water and rinse them out. Dump out the solid debris container after pouring out the waste water so that you can then separate them to clean. It was at this point that I realized that the 3-in-1 phrase is referring to simultaneous features, not separate. I'm not going to be using this to vacuum the carpet in my living room. I'm not sure what my expectation was in terms of cleaning, but I found the Hydrovac to be more of mop than a vacuum, although it does function as a vacuum. The picture you see in all of their marketing and demos is the perfect use case. You have a bowl of cereal with milk spilled on the floor, and this will vacuum up the cereal AND the liquid, and then "wipe" the floor up to remove any milk residue that would become sticky. On something like an area rug, which it does clean, the use case might be a little different. Note that they refer to it as an area rug, so I think they are referring to a low-pile carpet, not likely the installed carpet that you have in bedrooms, living rooms, etc. Depending on what might be spilled on an area rug, you might be able to use this to clean up solid debris, but you would likely need paper towels or a rag to soak up liquid as well, since this is not going to soak up absorbed liquid. If you have a small area rug in an entryway like I do (front and back door), this is perfect for just day-to-day dirt that gets built up on it, if used regularly. It's basically like a mop with a built in vacuum, and takes a lot let effort to use since it has a spinning roller. Oh, and by the way, it's cordless, which is critical when using any kind of mop. You don't want to have to walk on the still-wet floor to unplug the cord and move it elsewhere! Overall, I felt that the Hydrovac functioned best on my hardwood, tile, and linoleum floors (I have all three in my home). My downstairs is all hardwood, and especially in the kitchen where I might have crumbs, drips, water spots, or even sticky areas, this is a fantastic go-to floor cleaner to get all of that in one pass. I used to have to vacuum, and then mop (usually with a Swiffer) to do the same job. Again, it's like a mope with a built-in vacuum cleaner. In keeping expectations in line, it will clean like a Swiffer wet mop, but it is not going to look like the professionals were cleaning in your home. However, this is where it gets tricky. When prepping the Hydrovac, you fill a reservoir with water and the concentrate (it has fill lines to guide you). this canister does stand on it's own, but because of the way it's designed into the vacuum unit, the base is angled, so it doesn't sit straight (like a glass of water would). You'll need a steady hand to hold the canister up to make sure you are measuring to the marks on the container. Now at the time of my writing this, the concentrate, which they do include a small bottle of in the box, is roughly $20 and a little hard to find (the retail bottle is much bigger than the one they include in the box). So this is where I might say that if I am dealing with a spilled bowl of cereal on the floor, I'm not sure I want to mix up all of that to clean a small 3'x3' area. Shark does recommend a full automated cleaning when you are through. If I'm going to use all of that concentrate, I would end up needing to clean all of my floors until I've used most of the reservoir in order not to waste it. That doesn't seem worth it for a small mess. Note that I said "most of the reservoir". That is because Shark says to make sure it is half full before you return it to the charging base and run the automated-cleaning cycle. On one occasion, I did have less water than half, and it still had enough to do this cleaning, but as I got to know the device, I had an occasion where it ran out and I had to refill it to complete the cleaning cycle. You are supposed to have the cleaning concentrate in there as part of this cleaning cycle, so now what? I ended up waiting until the next day and filled the reservoir, then ran the cleaning cycle, and then did another floor cleaning (and ran the cleaning cycle again). This might be a great tool if you find that your floors need mopping almost everyday with foot traffic, pets, kids, etc. The Hydrovac is more of a glorified mop than anything else, albeit with a built-in vacuum cleaner. However, if you are not having to do this on a frequent basis, the Hydrovac might be a little expensive for the limited use you may get out of it. As someone with respiratory issues that finds mopping an entire floor of hardwood very difficult, this is perfect for me! However, If you use housework as your form of exercise, or your home doesn't get dirty very quickly, this may be overkill for your needs.

Quick and easy to use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve owned several Shark vacuums, and they’ve all been excellent. With this in mind, I was anxious to try the HydroVac. I have a robotic mopper, but it’s never been satisfactory at really getting the vinyl plank flooring in my kitchen clean. The Shark unit proved to be a different story, and I’ll be getting rid of the robot. The build quality is what you would expect from Sharp. It’s first class. It came well packaged and was a breeze to have up and running. Assembly consisted of inserting the handle into the body and placing the unit on the charging base. There’s a small solution tank at the top which you fill mostly with water and then top with the included cleaning/sanitizing solution. Then you’re ready to clean. Being cordless, it was also a breeze to use. With the texture of my floor, it did take two cleanings to get some of the stubborn spots since the HydroVac is quite sparing with the solution. That also means it dries very quickly and leaves a pleasing fresh smell. The unit was a champ with hard surface floors which is its main intended use. There’s also a mode for cleaning area rugs, and that uses the solution more quickly. As stated in its literature, this is intended for light or surface cleaning of rugs. It’s not a substitute for shampoo or a deep extraction system, but it will clean surface dirt and not leave your rug saturated. It works best if the rug doesn’t have much texture to it. When you replace the unit on the charging station, a light comes on to tell you it’s ready to self-clean. Make sure you have at least a half tank of the solution because it will use nearly that. The benefit is obvious since you have no residual dirt and odors left in the cleaning head and bush. Cleaning the dirty water tank is easy, and you’ll be amazed at the amount of dirt and the color of the water. There’s a separator for “dry” waste but realize it’s all going to be wet. Yes, this unit will pick up loose stuff on the floor, but I’d still recommend a quick vacuum if you have much dry dirt to deal with. I really like this product and wholeheartedly recommend it. It will leave your sealed, hard floors spotless, and it will clean surface dirt from areas rugs. It’s quick, light easy to maneuver, and easy to clean.

Extremely Useful Vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark HydroVac Cordless Pro XL 3-in-1 Vacuum is a very useful and versatile vacuum. The HydroVac does a wonderful job of acting basically as a dust mop, actual mop, and vacuum. The brush is not a conventional vacuum brush with bristles. It is more of a soft brush. But it is very effective as both a mop and vacuum. The vacuum is self-cleaning, and it does a good job of this. The brush is antibacterial. There are two tanks: a clean tank and a tank for the dirty water. The vacuum uses a charging pad base and reaches full charge relatively quickly. It also holds a charge fairly well. Note, it cannot be used as a vacuum without first filling it with cleaning solution. But when you fill it, it works wonderfully. It works beautifully on wood, tile, rugs, and carpet. Once you use it on the different surfaces, you'll be able to really appreciate how versatile this Shark is. Shark has a history of clever multi-use products, and this vacuum continues that tradition admirably. I'm glad to recommend it to you.

A Handy Housekeeping Gadget
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Hydrovac ProXL is an awesome houshold gadget. Like the name says its a hydrovac, so its not only a vaccum for dry messes on your floors, but also a mop with a roller to clean your floors. I've never used a vaccum that mops before, so I was a little anxious about using the Hydrovac, I wasnt sure if it was going to require some extra work to use or difficulty with maintainence, but it was all very easy. The vacuum has great suction power and picked up all my messes from dirt to snack crumbs, it will hold up and take care of the mess. The mop is great and easy to use, and it cleans the floors pretty good. I tested it on hardwood and tile and saw some great results. Filling the liquid tank is easy and the tank is marked so that its easy to know how much water and cleaning solution you will need. Included is the charging dock and a bottle of concentrated cleaning solution. The only complaint I have is that there isn't any options on the scents for the cleaning solution. The spring clean scent is okay, I hope in the future Shark partners with Febreeze to release an Unstoppables scent for the cleaning solution. Overall, the Hydrovac a great all-in-one household cleaning gadget, that will help ease the hassle of keeping you home clean.
