Customers appreciate the Matrix Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum's excellent cleaning capabilities, accurate mapping, and ease of use. Many praise its strong suction, self-emptying feature, and smooth navigation, making it a convenient and effective cleaning solution. However, some users note that the vacuum can be loud and that the dustbin may require more frequent emptying than expected. While the app has received some criticism for being difficult to use, the overall positive feedback highlights the vacuum's performance and helpful features.

PROS
+ Excellent overall cleaning performance, especially for a robot vacuum
+ LiDAR navigation is very accurate and removes a lot of the tedium of needing to move your room around for the vacuum to do its job
+ Provides three different Power Levels for cleaning - Eco, Normal, and Max
+ Easy to use app allows user to add multiple rooms and select specific locations that need particular attention, while also doing scheduled cleaning
+ Empties itself and has a large bin that should only need to be emptied every 1-2 months, depending on your home and how frequently you clean
+ Anti-hair wrap is helpful for pet hair and requires less maintenance for detangling
+ Can be controlled with Google Assistant or Alexa
CONS
- Can have some difficulty with pet hair- depending on the type of pet hair and the surface it is vacuuming, which can be more or less effective
- Extra height from the LiDAR sensor on top means it will have a harder time fitting under low furniture, like certain tables, couches, or chairs
THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT
The Shark Matrix Robot Vacuum is the best robot vacuum we have used in our house, and is a strong contender for one of the best all around vacuums you could buy. It won’t replace the power or customizability of a dedicated stick or larger traditional vacuum, but if you live in a house that doesn’t require regular heavy-duty cleaning, and want something you can literally set and forget, then this is for you. The Shark Matrix lets you efficiently keep your floors clean, with very little maintenance, and on your own schedule.
The Shark app is easily accessible from the app store. Once downloaded, it is easy to connect the vacuum to your home’s wifi. From there, you can begin adding rooms for the Matrix to map. Mapping can take 25-30 minutes per room to complete. Once mapped, the Matrix is ready to begin cleaning your space. Select the Power Level of clean you need (Eco, Normal, or Max). Cleaning can take up to 65 minutes to complete, again depending on the size of your room. It cleans in a grid pattern, which means that it will regularly overlap where it has already been, ensuring that it gets everything over the course of its trip.
Thanks to the LiDAR navigation, it is very good at ensuring it doesn’t go where it can’t. For instance, with our old vacuum, we needed to put down special tape or block off areas where the vacuum shouldn’t go. With the Shark Matrix, we didn’t need to do that, as it really did do a good job of seeing objects coming, and avoiding them. This works better for taller objects, but we found it was plenty effective with cords or other low set items, at least in our space. This means you don’t need to continually re-organize your living room to keep it from running something over or getting stuck. It can still get stuck of course, but we found this to not happen often at all, even with tricky situations. Likewise, it also knows when stairs are coming-up, and can detect when to stop so as not to send itself flying down a flight of stairs. It's a little scary to see it get so close to the edge, but we have yet to see it ever take itself too far. One quick note though is that the LiDAR sensor on top does mean the vacuum is a bit taller though, so it may have a tougher time getting under low to the ground furniture like couches or low tables. It is still a low-profile vacuum, but is a trade-off for the much better navigation.
Speaking of cleaning, using the app, you can select dirty spots on the vacuum’s map and direct the robot to the target. The Matrix will make two passes over the area, side to side and back and forth. You can also carry the robot to the location and hold down the “clean” button for 5 seconds over the area in a “spot clean” manner, such as with a spill of some sort. When the vacuum is done, it will head back to its dock, empty itself into the attached bin (which has a nice large capacity) and either head out to continue cleaning, or sit and charge itself.
In terms of cleaning performance, it really is great. We have mostly hardwood or stone floors, with some rugs (both thin and thick), and it handled all of these surfaces with plenty of confidence. The most challenging is our very thin rug with dog fur, but it still managed to pull up a good amount of hair and dirt without sucking the rug up, or getting caught. We have left it home alone running many times and have always come home to find it having cleaned the whole floor very well, without getting stuck or caught. The battery life is long (it tends to clean for around 2 hours before wrapping it up to charge), and between the sensor, the self-emptying design, and ability to charge at its dock, once set-up, it really is set it and forget it. And I think that is the biggest takeaway with this vacuum, it just does everything really well, no fuss. It cleans well, it takes care of itself, it is low maintenance, and other than needing to empty the bin every once in awhile, you really don’t need to worry about it more than you want to. It is just a really really good robot vacuum, and if you want one of the best, you don’t need to look further in my opinion.

Effective and a time saver

I've held off from jumping on the robot vacuum trend because I was very skeptical of their performance abilities, and I must say, this Shark Robot Vacuum has really proven my skepticism wrong. As a household with pets, there's no way this vacuum would replace my regular vacuum, but it does provide excellent supplemental vacuuming between my regular vacuuming, which still results in a lot of time saved for me.
I wasn't sure how well the Robot Vacuum would work out in my house with the many obstacles to go around due to furniture and cat toys. The initial run (prior to mapping out my house) proved just how well the vacuum does navigating around all these things. It only vacuumed up one small cat toy, which got stuck in the roller and I was easy to remove, and then it did get caught up under a dining room table chair. (I ended up mapping the dining room table area as a "no-go zone".) My house is mostly hardwood flooring with carpet in the bedrooms and one hallway which leads to two of the bedrooms. During this initial run the vacuum had to go to the docking station to empty before it was done vacuuming the entire space. Afterwards, when emptying the canister on the docking station, I was impressed by the amount of debris that the vacuum picked up. I was especially impressed with how well it picked up the cat hair - big win as a pet owner. While the vacuum does an excellent job picking up in the areas it directly rolls over, there is still much room for improvement with the little spinner brush that is supposed to reach out past the diameter of the vacuum to get near baseboards and edges. It does okay, but it doesn’t get everything, especially at the edges of corners, doorways, cabinets, etc.
After this initial cleaning run it was time to map out my house. It's best to pick up any clutter laying around and let the vacuum go do its thing. I was impressed with how quickly the vacuum was able to map out the areas I allowed it to access. I decided that I only wanted it to run primarily on the hardwood floors because those areas are the highest traffic areas of the house, and typically require the most attention. (Additionally, while it did do a pretty good job on the carpet, it didn't seem to like vacuuming up longer hair [mine]. After vacuuming in the main bedroom I noticed it left a small bundle of hair behind.) The results of the mapping appear in the Shark Clean App and you can label the rooms in your house. From there, you can set up specific cleaning schedules for each identified area mapped. For me, my laundry room to the connecting hallway needs to be vacuumed every day because of my cats' litter box. This is where the robot vacuum shines. I set it up for those two areas to be cleaned daily and now it's something I don't have to worry about during the week and the vacuum does a great job picking up that debris.
Another nice feature of the vacuum and the app is that you can set up certain areas to receive the Matrix cleaning (deep cleaning). I appreciate this feature because I have a rug in the living room that I was able to utilize this feature on. Further, the app also keeps record of the cleaning events and provides information regarding the date and times of cleaning, what (if any) issues occurred, how many times it returned to the dock, and more. It’s a really nice feature of the app to make sure the vacuum is doing what you want.
The vacuum itself was easy to set up and figure out how to use. The Shark Clean App is great and runs very well. I only experienced a couple slight freezing hiccups when saving the map. I have been very impressed by the performance of the vacuum, it navigates around my house way better than I ever imagined, and it really does a good job vacuuming up debris. The battery life seems to be excellent as well. After the first initial cleaning which took a little over an hour, there was still about 40% battery life left.
Overall, if you're looking for something to automatically clean areas that tend to have debris buildup between your regular vacuuming, especially in a busy household with pets, I would highly recommend considering this Shark Robot Vacuum. I am very happy with the time it has already saved me.

As someone who recently bought a house with several construction projects that create constant dust and dirt to be vacuumed up, I was tired of vacuuming and cleaning on top of juggling tasks/life. This came up and I just had to give it a try, if anything it had to save some time, right?
Right out of the box it was pretty easy set up. Place on base, plug in, install app, setup and update. In order to complete the setup it has to have a 50% or more charge so I did have to wait a little while to let it charge before taking it for a spin. Once you go through the setup send the vacuum out to explore and map the house. Just like any new pet you bring home except this looking to see what space it will need to clean :). Depending on the size of your house, it could take some time to explore before you can send it off to clean. Once it is done, send it out!
App is pretty user friendly and there are a few options for cleaning. Clean Home or Room(s) with three levels of suction Eco (pick up the daily dust), Normal (dust and some debris), and Max (dust and larger debris). Matrix clean for the once a week (or when necessary) deeper clean with multiple swipes and high suction. Since Matrix clean takes longer at higher suction, you can only chose to clean one room at a time. Spot clean to pick a small section in a room to clean. You can set zones that may have cords or things you do not want it to vaccum righ in the app. There is a schedule feature that I have not been able to try since I need to be sure workers have not left any corded objects laying around before I let the robot loose to clean.
I've heard stories of these kinds of robot vacuum devices getting stuck, not going over transition strips, not working well on high carpet, not having enough suction to really clean, etc. When this thing left the base to clean, it amazed me how intuitive it was. At first attempt at the somewhat tall transition from living room to kitchen, it didn't make it up. It backed up, put one wheel, then the other wheel, and it was over. After that, it remembers it is there and makes it over without a problem. A little creepy...but hey...at least I don't have to physically vacuum (my normal vacuum is jealous and lonely). My carpet is somewhat high and it didn't have a problem adjusting from wood floors to the carpet. Over the course of a week I watched as it over come new obstacles with ease, even caught it almost getting stuck in the legs of the office chair but it got out without me needing to help.
When it's done cleaning it returns to the base and the base sucks all the dust the robot picked up. First run I was curious how much it actually picked up (see image). A lot. The only thing that I did notice that it did miss a few pieces of large debris so I ran a spot Matrix clean to see if the higher suction would pick the pieces that were left and it did! After my cabinets were installed I had saw dust tracked everywhere in the house and was happy to know that it was no problem for the little thing. It picked it up without a problem!
The only con that I have found is that it isn't able to get super close to corners.
This has definitely saved me time and has been a worthy product.

Hi Cebga,
Thank you for sharing your experience with the Shark Matrix Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum. We’re sorry to hear that you’re receiving an Error 4 message despite clearing any obstructions.
Error 4 typically indicates a blockage in the brushroll or wheels. We recommend checking the brushroll, side brushes, and wheels for any trapped debris, and ensuring the dustbin is properly inserted. If the issue persists, a reset may help—simply turn the robot off, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on.
Since your unit is less than a year old, it may still be covered under warranty. Please reach out to our team at 1-888-228-5531, and we’d be happy to assist with further troubleshooting or warranty options.
We appreciate your feedback and hope to get your Shark robot back up and running.
Kind regards, Shark Clean

Efficient little vacuum with an excellent app!

Over the last 10 days or so, I’ve had the opportunity to test out the Shark Matrix. This is pretty much my first automated vacuum; I wasn’t sure what to expect. The promise of a vacuum that can automatically navigate and vacuum my basement (approx. size 1,100 sq ft) with some uneven flooring and a doorway leading into an office seemed almost too good to be true.
Setup:
Unpacking and putting together the vacuum was simple and took less than 5 minutes. Then I then had to download the Shark app, register and setup the Wi-Fi and I was ready to go. The Shark has to then go through a mapping process where it wanders around your space and with it’s LiDAR, it learns where everything is, including it’s home so it can return and empty itself. The map looked very accurate, it found the sofa and some other furniture. I found the app very easy to get accustomed to and use. The menus are laid out in a logical, easy to understand manner, 2 thumbs up on the app!
Performance:
For the first 2-3 days, I had the Shark placed in a spot that was like a narrow passage (2.5’ wide by 5’) with a wall on one side and a weight bench on the other side, I wanted to keep it out of plain sight. It seemed to take some time for it to get out of this area to start vacuuming. It was not optimal spot for it, so I then moved it to an open spot in the middle of the TV room, this spot was much better.
I have a gym area, a TV room and an office. To get to the gym section, there is a vinyl molding that transitions the hardwood flooring and the rubber gym flooring, the vacuum was able to go over this fairly easily with no fuss. When I first started testing the vacuum, I wasn’t paying attention to it, I’d just turn it on and went to work in my office. I would hear clunking, bumping and a few times it would get stuck. It turns out it kept getting stuck under a weight bench, as the angle metal bar would trap it and it also got stuck under the treadmill. It also didn’t like some of the foot of the weight equipment, the lidar wasn’t able to detect the 2” tubing of various pieces of equipment, it would bump into it until it found its way around it. To resolve this, I took out the app and added a “no-go zone” for it to avoid, very simple. Now the vacuum stayed out of the gym area completely.
My initial thought when I started using the Shark was “is this what it feels like to have a pet” it seems the vacuum wanders around and getting itself stuck and into trouble. The next day, I had a few minutes, so I watched the vacuum clean. I was impressed with how methodically it would go back and forth in open areas. When it came to a large obstacle, it didn’t bump into it, instead, it stopped, went around the obstacle and then continued going. It was almost kind of fun to watch. But like a pet, you have to “pet proof” the area you want to vacuum to clean. I had to clean up and removed small obstacles, move items such as an air purifier closer to the wall and tuck in the wires so it doesn’t get stuck.
Battery life is very good, it’s able to clean the entire basement on a single charge. I don’t have any carpeting though.
Conclusion:
Now after 1 week and a half, as I sit here writing this review, the vacuum is wandering around vacuuming. It’s nice once everything is setup properly (no obstacles, mapped out and no go zones). It does great in large open areas; it just goes back and forth and cleans efficiently. When it’s in an area with more furniture or other obstacles, it’s a bit tough to watch as it bumps around a bit like a blind person until it finds it way out. I don’t think these robotic vacuums are for everyone. If you’re impatient and just want to get the vacuuming done, you may just want to purchase a regular vacuum.
The vacuum just rolled by, went to it’s base and emptied itself, I love how it turns around and slowly backs into the base, they should add beeping sounds like when a truck is backing up! After emptying itself, it rolled away and went back to the room it was cleaning prior. I now have this scheduled to clean twice a week in the morning. If you’re looking for a robotic vacuum to do your dirty work for you, add the Shark matrix to your list, you won’t be disappointed!

Tremendously helped my sinuses and allergies. I run it every night. It takes 85 minutes to clean my house on first level. It has 3 different power modes. I usually use the turbo, high power mode and my vacuum can do the whole floor in one charge no problem. It runs until its full and will go dump the dust into the HEPA Filter dust container. I dont have to deal with any dust and honestly i think i could go more like 60 days without having to dump the main dirt container on the base charging station. BTW- I read that some people had issues with the software, so I was expecting some difficulty or something, but everything worked perfectly! I mapped out my home. I can do anything from the app. I run this machine everynight. The only thing that happened so far was the vacuum sucked up a 6 foot roll of paper measuring tape lol. It came right out, and resumed where it left off I even got a text alert that my vacuum needed help hehe WORKS AS WELL AS ROOMBAS 600 DOLLAR MODEL. I have tried them both. For the sale price hands down a great buy. Shark has a much higher bang for your buck. The same price will get you a lot more with Shark. The model does talk to you as well sonetimes if theres anything wrong or if i give it a command it speaks and announces the activity i chose for it to do. You can clean 1 area by chosing it on the mao in the app OR by placing the bot by the mess and pressing the clean button for 7 seconds. You can set barriers and choose what rooms to clean or not clean. Or you can just clean the whole house like i usually do. My sinuses are happy!!! I tried and have multiple high end air purifiers but after 3 days with this vacuum my alergies are almost totally cleared up! Hope this helps!! :)

Maybe 15 years ago had a Roomba robot vacuum. At the time we had a dog who shed like crazy and most the time the vacuum got clogged up with dog hair. So was turned off to robot vacuums for number of years. Recently this unit came up on sale from BB and no longer have that same dog, RIP Macy, figured give it another try. Very impressed with this unit. Set-up is easy and the app walks you through the steps. Been using this for about a month. My house is roughly 1900 square feet so I do not run the entire house in one go. The robot can run for an hour then needs to recharge. However, the app does let you map your house then divide up the map into rooms. So, simply set schedule to do couple rooms certain days the week and run the others opposite days. Noise-level...am not put off by noise Leven the robot, yes of course it is not whisper quiet but is fine. When the on-board collection is full or when a cycle is completed the robot returns to the base and empties. This is a bit of noise but is very quick and not a biggie. Overall am impressed and happy with the purchase. I did buy this on sale at 50% off so I would not have paid full price, I do recommend this unit with one exception -- I no longer have any pets so I cannot speak to it picking up pet hair. However, I do live in Arizona where no matter what you do get dust in the house more than other places have lived. This does a great job and am happy with the purchase.
--Side note, the app lets you name the robot and suggests fun names like Steve McClean...love this detail!

We love this robovacuum so much!! We have had it for a couple months now are are still impressed with it. The app is easy to use and the mapping it does is amazing! Not to mention how well it cleans and how long it runs. It is much quieter than our previous robovacuum from a different brand, so that is a plus. The self-emptying feature is awesome (and is the noisiest part but only lasts a few seconds). We love it so much we bought one for my mom for her birthday and we recommend to anyone interested in a robovacuum. My only complaint is I need another one of these for our second floor!

I'm a major fan of Shark vacuums. I am currently using my 3rd upright & couldn't love it more. But I've always been leery of the robot vac...even from Shark. I heard horror stories from friends & family. And it seemed the robots were way too pricey for what you get. Then Best Buy put the Shark Matrix 30-day self empty model on sale.
The price was so good & it was a Shark so I bit. And I'm so glad I did. There are 6 people & 2 dogs in my home. The amount of dust, dirt, dog hair, & people hair generated by us is unbelievable. And we just couldn't get ahead of it. Enter Mazie, the Shark!
I am so happy with this purchase. The vac works very well. The mapping function was easy & quick. Scheduling was a breeze & Mazie executes it flawlessly. I get notifications if she runs into trouble. I can do real time spot vacuuming if needed. All in all, a great product. Get your own Mazie....you won't be sorry.

Shark did a great job in making this Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum. Both the docking station and vacuum comes in a single box but separately packed. Instruction manual was minimal. It just provide the instruction to install the app. After installing the shark clean app the set up was very easy. It connected to my home wifi and took around 1 h to charge. I am impressed with the intelligent home mapping ability of this smart robot. In the first run it mapped the home with precise layout and went to every room and corner of the house. I assigned the different area of the house - study room, kitchen, living room, bed room. The robot can be directed to that particular room / area whenever I want to clean. this is a nice feature like I most often don’t need to clean whole house so I can clean my kitchen.
Programming is another nice feature - I schedule my robot to clean every other day after I go to bed in this way in the morning i woke up with clean house. the second thing is in this the robot doesn’t get interfered with my movement in the house when it is cleaning. it has a memory and if the battery depleted before it can compete the cleaning, it can return to the docking station to charge and resume cleaning after charge. It is a nice feature but I didn’t need as my home is ~ 900 scft.
It takes around 30-45 min to do a eco cleaning and more than an hour to do the regular cleaning. The suction is great and it picks up even tiny dust particles and empty the vacuum after cleaning. However i felt that the speed is slow it would have been great if it can clean a bit faster in regular mode. But may be if it run faster the suction may not remain that great. It is important to not to walk in front of the robot while it is cleaning.
It can impressively climb on the rug to clean. spot cleaning and matrix cleaning is great but take more time. In my opinion it is nice to have feature but not needed for everyday cleaning.
Small, intelligent, app controlled, programmable, memory option, self emptying, bagless, great suction.
Overall i am happy with this nice cleaner.

With all the different opinions on these vacuums, I was unsure about getting one, but im glad i did. Setup was easy, it mapped my house and picks up with no problems. I love that it empties itself. Now it says that it has a 30 day capacity before you have to empty the bin, but that depends on how dirty your house is. So you may have to empty it more often.

Awesome Self-Emptying Robotic Vacuum

I didn't know exactly what to expect, when I ordered my Shark Matrix Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum. I have one of those houses where there is something in almost every corner and plenty of tight spaces.
When the Shark Matrix arrived, I really was afraid that with its height and diameter it could not do a good job on most of my floors. But while I was correct that it couldn't get under places like my low rung dining room chairs and some of my furniture, I was wowed at the job it did do to the rest of my living room, dining room, kitchen and hall areas.
So, after attaching the little side brush that sweeps along edges, and then charging the Shark Matrix on its Self-Empty Base, I set up the Shark Clean app on my phone. Then I paired the app through WiFi to the Shark Matrix. The app leads you through the rest of the setup. This is mainly starting a mapping program that has the robot run through your house without vacuuming and with its LIDAR sensors and light bumping against furniture and other obstacles to literally map out your floor's configuration. Once that is done, the configuration shows in the app and you can divide the mapped areas into rooms, so that you can instruct the robot to vacuum in one particular room, if desired. Since I wanted the Shark Matrix to do the whole area, I left it as it was.
Then, after a recharge, from the app I ran the robot for a full cleaning. In about 60 minutes with 2 trips back to its base for emptying, the rooms were done in a beautifully made matrix pattern that covered all the available places. It was amazing.
While I still think that this high quality, wonderfully well-designed and well-built Shark Matrix Robot Vacuum would work best in wide open spaces with minimal furniture, plants and statues on the floors, it did a great job on the accessible areas of both my carpets and bare floors. The robotic vacuuming and self-emptying features are time-saving and effective.

Perfect middle of the road vacuum. Navigates pretty good throughout my house. My house is a 2,200 sq/ft single story home and it takes about an hour for a normal cleaning cycle. The mapping technology was very accurate and the app is very single to use. Not to mention, set up was a breeze and fool proof. I run my vacuum while im at work and when i come home, the floors are swept and there is no visible debris on the floor. Are there better robot vacuums out there? Yes. But! If youre looking for a reliable vacuum that you dont have to pay $1,200 for then this is it. Highly recommend for those who are trying to stay below $500. I dont think you can beat it.

Really enjoying this so far. Have had only Roombas until now, but this is a pleasant surprise. Very easy to use and does a great job. Love the self emtying feature too!

Matrix 'Spot' Clean is super handy... but

The Shark Matrix Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum RV2320S is cool device with very useful features and a handy app. There are problems with this design but I will focus on the Positive aspects first.
Setting up the Shark Matrix was quick & easy. Once unboxed, simply install the mobile app and follow the guided steps. I'm usually not a fan of how the 'app teams' of many companies approach product setup and/or design their overall app layouts but the Shark app is certainly above average and good.
Once set up, I positioned the robot & dock in a massive master bedroom. Having dogs = extra dirt, dust and dander under the bed - so I was eager to test this system out in a room that needs constant cleaning. I purposefully kept the room somewhat cluttered to see how the Shark behaved with some typical obstacles and I can confidently state that this generation of robot vacuum didn't become stuck or jammed anywhere in the room vs. what we came to expect compared to the leading brand, several years old. But before I get ahead of myself here... The RV2320S took approx. 10 to 12 minute to map the room and I was pleased to see that not only did the mobile app have a decently scaled representation of the perimeter, it also 'Matrix' mapped the king size bed in the room - which is the area needing frequent cleaning attention. The app does represent the bed center to the graphic, which is WAY off but the general shape of the room looks accurate. That's the first area the Shark team needs to dial in better.
I proceeded to have the robot vacuum just do a "Matrix Spot Clean" underneath the bed 3 times in a row and I watched from above to see if that specific perimeter was adhered to. The RV2320S tracked that entire bed 'foot print' with solid precision and without getting stuck - three manual cycles in a row.
I proceeded to let the RV2320S clean the entire room and again, with various tight spaces, obstacles like a duffle bag and a few boxes, it never struggled in a particular area and/or get stuck. So, hats off to the Shark design team for making this appliance reliable.
However, this where the experience started to deteriorate. Upon completing 3 cycles of the entire room being vacuumed, I receive both a mobile app notification and an audible alert from the unit itself saying an error occurred and that I needed to clean the dust bin. Upon checking the base station, the main dust collection cartridge was empty but the dust bin on the robot itself had a handful of hair, dust and fuzz just sitting there. Not stuck or jammed up - just present. So it appears to me that the auto emptying function of the RV2320S needs some tweaking. Opening the dust trap on the actual robot is simple enough and I was able to empty it quickly. So there you have it. Automation that still requires human intervention - new out-of-the box.
There are other issues that prevent me from assigning more stars to this product which I will outline in the Pros & Cons section, but let me summarize my overall opinion of the Shark Matrix Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum first - covering the nits as I experienced firsthand:
The setup was easy and automated. The unit docked is diminutive in foot print & height. Mapping rooms is set-and-forget and the "Matrix" Ai in this thing is truly something of value. That feature alone will serve us well in keeping the pet area under our king-sized bed clean! The app is intuitive and pleasing to the eyes but it does lack some feature controls - and I'm not sure why. There should be night mode or 'dark mode' the user can select to disable all the lighting. Not having this really prevents a customer from placing this system wherever they want. The lights are freaking bright!
The robot itself is smooth sounding but the docking station's vacuum system to empty the onboard dust bin is crushingly loud. So again, customers will have to careful where they place this. And for some unknown reason, late in the night the robot undocked - pulled away from the docking station and then redocked - without any schedule set up to do so. So be aware of rogue robot behaviors. It seems to me that the default operational behavior of this appliance should "Go Dark" at some evening hour and stay that way until the morning - based on relative Time Zone detection tied to the app.
In terms of cleaning, the robot unit itself does a great job picking up all kinds of debris. It's thorough and appears to stay longer on areas that are determined to be more dirtier. It is not prone to getting stuck and doesn't waste a lot of 'juice' wandering around - so the "precision" in the branding appears to be accurate as does the "Matrix" part (for certain areas). We own Dyson's for cleaning the majority of our home's hardwood floors by hand and value in an appliance of this type for particular room focus. The Matrix mapping of the bed is top shelf Ai ingenuity. The dock-based evacuation function seems random and for us - that's Ok - because we can empty the robot's bin directly in the waste can when needed. So, a STRONG three stars is warranted on this review.
Pros:
Accurate mapping of the actual perimeter of rooms
Matrix Ai mapping of things like beds inside the room that work well with the Matrix 'spot' cleaning on demand function
Smooth sounding robot in operation
Precise movement with no wandering and prevention from getting stuck
Transitions from hardwood to area rugs of different textures - no sweat
Generally speaking, a good overall mobile app design
It does clean well!
Cons:
Unit can have issues transferring the contents of the onboard dust bin to the base station compartment
Base station vacuum unit is extremely loud
The onboard lights for both the robot and base station are too bright and there appears to not be a night or assignable "dark" or night mode
Our unit went rogue on us just last night - almost like it wasn't really positively docked on it's last completion. Not sure what that was to be honest - but it was startling.
I can only recommend the Shark Matrix Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum for specific use cases, like ours.
For whole house automation, I think it pays to wait and see if Shark works out the kinks on this one.

It is a very efficient device. Maps the house perfectly. Cleans the house very well and gets pretty much everything even the corners and can get under couches and bed frames (obviously with enough clearance). Really wonderful product. The self emptying feature is also a life saver. I would highly recommend this product. I also didn't have any issues with it getting stuck or with the app. Everything so far is awesome.
