Customers regard the Navigator Lift-Away Bagless Upright Vacuum favorably due to its strong suction, lightweight design, and ease of use. Many appreciate its performance on carpets and the reasonable price point. However, some customers find the cord length to be insufficient and the dustbin capacity could be improved. A few also noted the vacuum's noise level.

it vacuums, but is unnecessarily hard to use

Well, it does vacuum well. And there is the HEPA filter. For reference, I am used to my old upright Eureka Boss Smart Vac (which lived a long life but recently died), and this Shark is harder use use in many ways. For starters, a filter bag is so much easier to deal with than the canister, which has to be emptied after every vacuum, and doesn't even empty completely on it's own (i.e. you have to reach in to dislodge hair, etc). I also failed to realize that with the swivel steering, the upright unit is just more unstable and a little harder to push overall as a result. The real kicker though is the almost complete uselessness of the attachments. Because you have to take the upright handle off, the unit that is left is so short you then have to carry it around. In addition, the attachment tubing is so short that you have to bend over to use the attachments. So you therefore are all bent over, trying to carry around the unit in order to use the attachments, which is very back breaking. So. It does vacuum; it does good on bare floors and area rugs of various pile depths. If you never use attachments and don't mind skin and nose contact with your floor detritus, then this vacuum could be fine for you.

When I brought this home, I vacuumed my living room rug with my old vac, and then re-vacuumed with the Shark, and couldn't believe the amount of additional dirt that it got up. Also easy to maneuver. Only bad aspect is that the hose is so tight, it is difficult to reach high areas using the attachments.

I got it for the cat hair in my house which it does a good job with. We use our vacuum to clean around the wood stove and the short hose is not that great nor is the only attachment, otherwise the suction is good and it works well on our hardwood floors and few carpets. Love the see thru bag less feature.

The Shark is light weight and easy to use. Works well for my concrete floor since I can turn off the brush so it doesn't leave scratch marks in the wax on floor. I prefer not having to buy bags and like the fact that you can empty after each use. The feature making it detachable is great for stairs.

Best vacuum we have ever purchased. Forget the ultra expensive models. This Shark is just as effective as any Dyson and is much less expensive. High quality and very versatile! The detached unit is especially excellent for steps.

We have been very satisfied with this purchase so far. The vacuum has an amazing flexibility. It can bend at the base to vacuum around legs of tables, etc. It can bend and disconnect in multiple places on the tubing, so that when you are using the attachments, you get maximum maneuverability and ease of access. The suction has been very impressive for such a small vacuum. I have had to stop and remove hair and string from the brush tool a couple times when doing the stairs, but that says more about the condition of our stairs, than it does about the Shark. I bought the extra Geek Squad warranty, after reading about the details of the manufacturer warranty. I don't want to pay to send the vacuum in and include a check for return shipping. That's poor customer service. I'd much rather take it to my local Best Buy and let them deal with it. We'll have to wait and see how long the vacuum holds up, but with the service plan in place, we should be happy for a couple of years, at least.

This is a really fun vac to use. I replaced my heavy, bulky, chunky, Hoover Cyclone style with the Shark. It's light weight, uncomplicated, compact, effective, simple, and easy to use and maneuver. The price is right too.

Good suction. Fairly easy to empty / maintain. Only significant gripe is prevalence of plastic parts that cannot easily be replaced when broken (this is second vacuum for us after latch on handle broke.

I thought I wanted a Dyson, but they felt flimsy to me. Got everything I needed at a much better price with this. Great for stairs and reaching cobwebs in high ceiling corners with detachable canister and extended crevice tool. Gets all the hair my dear Beagle leaves behind!

I have a golden retriever who sheds year round - need I say more? This vacuum pulls his hair out of the carpet better than any other vacuum I've ever had. It is light, and maneuverable, breaks down to a canister very easily and has very strong suction on every surface.

Good: handles great, suction and movement is really good. lightweight. If you rarely use the accessories it is perfect. bagless.
POOR:accessories get in the way and fall off easily. to empty the bin it actually empties at the bottom which gets a bit tricky to not let all the dust/dirt fall back out to the floor

Got this vac because it is portable and easy to use on stairs. I love that there are no bags to worry about and the beater turns off automatically if put in the locked upright position. Has a lot of power and suction for such a small unit.
