This works great! Got it for the office and it does have 2 settings one for carpet and one for wood. Was on sale at Best Buy! Thank you BB!

Decent vacuum, doesn't live up to the pet moniker

It cleans well, sucks stuff up, all the stuff a vacuum should do. However, the brush clogs and gets stuck quickly when dealing with hair and fur. We have 2 shorthair cats and a shorthaired dog, plus an angora bunny. The bunny has a cage and doesn't run around the house very often. I frquently have to break out the scissors to cut hairs from the brush and break up clogs in the hose. This vacuum seems like it would work best if my wife and daughters kept their hair as short as mine. That won't be ahppening, so I'll just keep the scissors handy so I can keep saving the vacuum from its own hubris.

The only thing I would say about this product is that it’s not balanced when using the handheld vacuum. It may fall over during extended reach

Great vacuum! I have a dog and she sheds a lot, this vacuum picks up all her fur plus the other dirt and doesn’t get clogged up! Only down side is the unit is kinda heavy, also I love that it’s able to bend all the way down to get under tables

We had a cheapy vacuum for awhile and finally needed something to lift our carpet and clean it good! This vacuum is awesome. Really cleans the carpet and the tile. Between my Gf and our dog we have eliminated all the hair in the house.

When I got this vacuum in, I was admittingly skeptical. I had an old Shark vac that I really like and got a great deal on back in the day and is now about 5 years old. So I was kind of excited to see what Shark had improved upon since then, and the 5 year old unit was an old unit when I got it, meaning it was a discontinued model from what I understand. Upon receiving the box, I noticed it was pretty light and that is a good and bad thing for me. Good being that my wife can pick it up without much work and bad because I use the extension rod a lot and that means that it may be prone to tipping. Unboxing it was a breeze. It was nicely boxed with the accessories on top and everything else left below. I also loved that they are using paper packing with recycled plastics rather than styrofoam. Great small touch! Also a great piece of work, is the quick start guide. It pretty much had me going in 7 minutes from unpacking, removing packing tapes and clipping pieces to the vacuum. My one issue is that vacuum can only hold 2 of the three accessories, which is a silly thing for me. Can’t they just place another smaller holder somewhere? I may be missing it entirely, but I didn’t see it indicated in the manual. Ok in using the ZU62, my skeptical side really didn’t believe the anti-tangle brushes that are equipped for my usage. I have a cat and my wife that has long hair that easily tangles into the rotating brushes in vacuums and like many people do, use scissors to unbind the brush because of the tangled hair and fur the house brings to the vacuums that I have used in the past. This includes the highly expensive models and also my daily use Shark. My first major test for this vacuum was my carpeted bedroom. I cleared the carpet and went to town. I used the pet hair vacuum extension and found that it was mediocre. My other Shark had an attachment that had a rotating brush accessory that brushed hair into the vacuum like no ones business. The only negative to that is that it often tangles and I have to take it apart to clean properly, which is a pain. No back to the carpet at hand, the major test room. I switched the unit to “carpet” and started. I adjusted the suction to max because I was not dealing with area rugs and used to the suction method used here. People not used to this feature, there is a bit of a learning curve to it. I then attacked the corners of the bedroom. It did fairly well but I had to use the rod to fine tune and vacuum the little crevices when the crown molding meets the carpet. I finished it up and found that the cup was about half full at this point and did it’s job pretty well so far. I went to the AC unit and used the rod and vacuumed around for hairs and debris in the filter which I normally do as well. This is where the fine dusting extension will come in handy. Then I went and vacuumed the hard wood floors. I switched the unit to hard floors and had at it. Like the other Shark, the swivel head works great however because of how the head is shaped, you cannot really go underneath objects without bumping up against it. For this I used the extension rod again and went under the areas I needed to. And what did I find out? The unit does tip if over and hits you if you don’t keep an eye on it and close to you, even though there’s enough slack in the hose for you to go further in your cleaning. Ok so after that, I went throughout the house and then after a certain section, I found that the power cord was pulled from the socket. My other Shark lets me to a certain point that I am used to and forgot that this was a new unit and didn’t think the cord length was different. It was. I haven’t measured it, but it is indeed a bit shorter. Not the biggest deal, but it’s worth noting. After the floors, I went and vacuumed the cat area which had a bit of litter scattered around the boxes. So I opted to use the handle extension and minimum suction to take it all it. It worked like a charm. After I was done, I went to empty the container. Like the other Shark unit, it’s super easy to remove and dump the container. But this one has a bottom and top portion to empty. No big deal, but while you have the top handle to hold onto to empty the bottom, when emptying the top portion, there is no handle to hold on to, you have to dump it like a bucket. My other Shark didn’t have separated parts, rather two openings, where if you have hair or lighter things caught in the top portion you open the top part and dump after dumping the bottom. But in doing this, there are two handles, the one on top and one in the middle. I guess that is where the ‘extra’ space is given. Again, not a deal breaker, but another note to keep in mind if you have an older Shark that has this handle. All in all, how did this fare to my older model? Well the non tangle brush head worked! No cutting needed so far. The suction is done well. The only negative which carryied over from the older unit is that when using the vacuums to suck up the fine cat litter, I found that some of the litter accumulated on the filter when removing the lint container. Other than that, the improvements from the older model does make it useful, the tangle free brush head is heaven sent and love that feature. The extra space in the trap is welcomed, especially when dealing with pet hair. That’s pretty well thought out. Would I recommend it? Yes for a pet family. Like many vacuums made for pets, I recommend cleaning the filters to prolong the life of the unit. It’s a great vacuum for the money!

Why 4 Stars? Because is so powerful when i vacuum the stairs that its power make the vacuum feel in to the sides which is annoying other than that this vacuum is perfect is powerful, not to heavy to work with and perfect for plain surfaces not for stairs

This vacuum is incredibly difficult to push on carpet, even flat carpet. My arm aches after just a couple of minutes of use. The power cord is way too short. The vacuum falls over whenever you try to use the hand wand. It has good suction, but that means little when it is so hard to use. I wish I had my Dyson back.

We would like to thank you for your feedback. We regret to hear about your experience. We are happy to assist you with this. This vacuum has a suction control on the handle. To help with maneuverability, we recommend that you open the valve to lower suction. When using the handle for above floor cleaning, we recommend holding the handle on top of the dust cup, with one hand while you clean with the other, to prevent the vacuum from tipping over. So glad I purchased this vaccum cleaner. My daughter has 3 or 4 of them and highly recommended that I buy one since I was in the market to replace my old one. Especially since I have hardwood floors and some area carpets.

All of my kids are able to maneuver the vacuum. My 10 year old says it's a little difficult, but the rest of us don't struggle to push it. I'm positive that it's picking up more dog hair than the vacuums I've used before.

It works good, but not as good as I expected. It’s a little heavy to push on carpet. The suction is just like any other vacuum, which I was disappointed in only because I was expecting super suction. Very easy to clean and use.

The Shark Navigator was a very good purchase and we really saw the difference after the first time we used it. It was a little heavy when turning corners but, that was a very small inconvenience.

I purchased this Shark vac mainly because of the non-brush roller. My old vac kept getting long hairs in the roller brush. So far I am satisfied the ease of use but some times cumbersome having all the various accessories attached to it.
