Sleek and powerful
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Navigator Robot Vacuum with Self-Empty Base has quickly become one of my favorite household helpers. Setup was easy, and once it got going I was impressed by how well it handles everyday messes, especially dog hair that used to collect on our hardwood floors. It moves smoothly across the house and never misses the edges or corners where fur and crumbs usually gather. The suction power is strong enough for daily cleaning without me needing to follow behind it. The self-empty base is a game changer since I don’t have to stop and empty the bin every run, it takes care of itself and only needs attention after several uses. The scheduling feature is convenient, and I like being able to start it from the app when I’m not home. The design is sleek and the pretty blue color makes it stand out from other plain looking vacuums. It hasn’t fallen down the stairs which gives me peace of mind. The only cons are how bright the buttons are on both the base and the vacuum, they light up the whole room at night, and it can be noisy though the app lets you control that. It also struggles with lighter objects like a scale or thin table legs, but being able to section off those areas or set a boundary like our closet as a no-vacuum zone has solved that problem. Overall, it saves me time, handles the dog hair, and keeps our hardwood floors looking great with very little effort.

Core Conveniences In An Affordable Robot
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There’s a lot to like in this Shark robot and dock combo, but only at the right price. It nails the core conveniences of a modern cleaning robot - with a great, low profile self-emptying dock and good navigation with only a few caveats. The main limitations being a shorter runtime, somewhat messy (bagless) dock dust bin, and some issues avoiding smaller objects. __Setup and Design__ While the outside of the box is a bit all over the place with text and feature call-outs, it’s well organized inside with plenty of stickers help ensure you don’t overlook first-use suggestions that Shark doesn’t want to you to miss. With those removed, setting up the robot in the app is very well guided. I had no issue setting it up and I imagine that most less tech-savvy people would have a pretty easy time as well. After charging (~2 hrs) this robot requires an initial mapping run - something my other robot vacuums haven’t required. Regardless, it was a simple process and when it was done the app presented a map that I could divide into labeled rooms and add No-Go Zones, to avoid things let pet bowls during cleaning. Before I get into performance, the design of this robot and dock is worth going over. While the color is stated as ‘grey’ and appears this way in product imagery, it’s really more of a true dark navy blue in person. A bit surprising, but it still looks good. The robot is about 12” wide, a bit smaller than my other robot vacuums, and has a fairly narrow brush bar on the underside, as well. Despite this, it seems to do a good job vacuuming everything on our hard floors. On our medium-pile carpet it does pretty well, but appears to struggle a bit more. We’ve been happy with how generally quiet it is while vacuuming, with just a little more rattle and mechanical noise than we’re used to. It’s not bad, but slightly distracting when trying to hold kitchen conversations, for instance. Another downside of the design is that the rear extraction port is exposed and gets gunky after just a few cleanings. Dirt doesn't seem to fall out, but it looks a little dirty while vacuuming and will undoubtedly need to be wiped off fairly often. The dock is nicely low profile and hugs the wall, yet holds a fairly large dirt collection bin. It’s bagless which is nice fore saving money, but seemingly at the expense of getting stuck on mats of debris inside. Emptying the compartment was messy and cat hair remained firmly plastered to the bottom - meaning that if I wanted to clean it properly I’d either have to use a tool, a damp rag, or get my hands and forearms dirty in the process. When emptying the robot, the dock is loud, but not high pitched or annoying when emptying. It's flexible rubber connection that sucks debris from the robot is visible at the front and collects some plastered dirt just like the rear of the robot itself. __ App and Performance __ Coming from another brand, the app is fairly basic when used with this model. From time to time the robot spins to orient itself and collect spot-lidar information. This seems to create a fairly good map of the larger space it’s running through, though small items on the floor were another story. This robot liked to push small items (shoes, toys, small packages, etc) around the room much more than the visual-based robots we also own. It also bumped into everything a bit more early on, but seemingly learned and fully avoided permanent things like baseboards, chair legs, and cabinet kicks after a little more time. My biggest gripe is that I'm not able to clean 800 sqft in one charge. This means that near the end of its cleaning it will return to its dock and charge for nearly 3 hours before continuing again. My other robotic vacuums have no issue cleaning in one go, so this was a surprise. If you have a smaller space, or vacuum while at work, I’m sure it wouldn’t matter - but it certainly increased overall cleaning time (which in itself, was quite long at 130 mins in my case) After a run, you’ll see a simple report of square-footage covered and time spent cleaning, along with a map showing where the robot had been in a solid color. The actual path the robot took is not shown, nor are any suggestions for problem areas to address for better cleaning, etc. It’s simple, but gets the job done. It does, however, have the option to use either Google Assistant or Alexa to speak to the robot to get it cleaning, which is nice. __ Summary __ While it doesn’t provide a long enough run-time in our home, bumps into small objects more than other robots, and has a fairly dirty bagless dock bin… it’s still quite good for the price. Self-emptying docks are very handy and this robot navigated well with its sensors and spot lidar. We’ve been happy with its vacuuming performance and noise level and it looks nice. I feel it really comes down to price. If offered in the $250-300 range (as it was at time of review) I feel it’s a good offering, checking off the most important boxes for convenience, performance and price. *** What we liked *** - Great, low profile self-emptying dock. - Spot lidar worked well, avoids marking furniture and baseboards. - Setup was super easy thanks to a great app setup process. - App allows mapping, naming rooms and No-Go zones. - Good price (at time of review) for what you get. *** What we didn’t like *** - Unable to clean our space in a single charge, long 3 hr recharging period. - Generally longer cleaning runs than our other robots. - Rear port is exposed and gets a bit gunky. - Bagless dock traps some dirt which requires extra cleaning at times.

Reliable and Convenient
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an older model Shark robot (AV2001DRUS) that we use for our 1st floor which I love. It works great enough to replace having to use the upright as often. It was a great convenience before however it has become a necessity, recently. We currently have a 6 month old and we admittedly just don't have the time nor the chance to regularly vacuum like we used to. We also have two cats. We now desperately needed the help for the upstairs which is almost all carpet with 4 bedrooms and closets, a loft and 2 bathrooms so it's a much more involved job. We needed something at least as good as our older model to be up to the task. The Shark Navigator fortunately really delivers. My love for Shark products continues with this robot vacuum. It both mapped and cleaned the floor quickly and efficiently. The suction appears to be as good, if not better than what I currently have. I do find it interesting this model only has one 3 bristle arm on the bottom as opposed to a two bristle arm on each side like the AV2001 has. Though, I can’t notice any difference in effectiveness thus far. Seems it tries to keep that side along the walls when it does the perimeter first which is smart. I was actually quite surprised about the size of the base and was expecting the setup to take up a larger footprint than it does. One notable thing I really like is the base only needs at least a foot of clearance on both sides and 2 ft in front which is an improvement from my older model (and I’m sure others) where it recommends 3 ft of clearance on each side and 5 ft in front. This allows a lot more options when placing in your home. The collection bin appears to hold a lot and it already seems I won't have to empty it that often at all. Emptying it is so easy anyway. You just hold the button on the bin, pull it out of the base and then hit the latch button on the bottom over a garbage can. The fur/hair/dirt/dust/debris was nicely packed into a single mass and dropped right out. The filter is along the inner side of the bin and looks easy to wipe clean when necessary, too. I was also impressed with the self-emptying feature. It evacuated all the dirt and debris cleanly into the base each time, leaving no mess. Make sure you don’t have this in a room where people are sleeping, though. While the vacuum itself runs pretty quietly, the evacuation process sounds like a small jet engine and runs about 5-7ish seconds. That’s the only thing even remotely negative that may be worth mentioning for anyone that it effects. Otherwise, it’s yet another quality product from Ninja.

An Affordable Robot Vacuum That Doesn't Disappoint
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Navigator Robot Vacuum is a solid choice for anyone seeking a powerful, reliable vacuum that handles both carpets and hard floors with ease. Its self-emptying base holds up to 60 days of debris, so you won’t need to empty the dustbin often. It also offers a bunch of user-friendly features, including control via the SharkClean smartphone app and either full home or room by room cleaning. Before its first cleaning pass, it maps your home, allowing you to program specific rooms and set “no-go zones” to keep it out of areas you’d rather it avoid. Pros and Cons Pros: Strong suction power Self-emptying base Intuitive controls Long battery life Easy to use smartphone app Smart home mapping No need for bags like some other robot vacuums Cons: Can be noisy on standard and max settings Doesn’t do the best job on high pile carpets Doesn’t avoid smaller objects very well Does not avoid animal messes, so be aware of that if you have pets Key Features and Performance Suction power: The Shark Navigator delivers good suction, easily lifting dirt, dust, and pet hair from most carpet and vinyl flooring. Self-emptying base: I love this feature, I completely forget about emptying the base until it decides to yell at me to do so. Ease of use: This thing is easy to operate, either manually by pressing the button on the unit, through the app, or via a schedule you set on the phone app. Noise level: It’s a bit loud during normal and max suction, though quieter modes are available. Furniture Clearance: The navigator fits under most furniture and cleans better underneath my cabinets in the kitchen than my last robot vacuum that was a bit taller. Final Thoughts Overall, the Shark Navigator Robot Vacuum is a dependable option for anyone wanting to reduce hand vacuuming. It handles my 3 dog’s pet hair, dirt, and debris well, and its anti-tangle brush head helps keep the brush roller clean. I’ve had it get stuck a couple of times, but after adding a few more “no-go zones,” that wasn’t much of a problem. I’d recommend the Shark Navigator to anyone looking for a low maintenance robot vacuum that’s smart, affordable, and easy to live with.

Easy Setup. Performance is great!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The setup was easy. After unpacking the vacuum itself and the base I plugged in the base to the wall with enough space for the actual vacuum to move around. I downloaded the shark app which was very easy to set up and after the base charged the robot vacuum which took about an hour or so depending on how much battery came with. After I was able to let the robot vacuum map my entire house which was extremely easy and simple. Once that was complete I ran my first run and can say that it cleaned my floors pretty well. It didn't have any issues switching from carpet on a rug to my hardwood laminate and overall the noise wasn't too much louder than other robot vacuums that I have used in the past. I do enjoy the self-cleaning portion of the unit and after a couple of runs I can say haven't had any issues with the robot getting stuck or dying while vacuuming my my 1800-square foot house. Overall I'd have to say that with the setup, the boxing and the ease of use, I'd give this a two thumbs up from shark. I have had no complaints and look forward to utilizing this vacuum in the future and honestly using shark products in the future. If this is a sign of the type of product they put out. Very well done!

Perfect for our home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay, so I've used a bunch of other robot vacuums, and even a couple of Shark's regular bagless ones, but this Navigator Robot vacuum? It's seriously the best I've ever tried. It just nails everything that matters to me. Like I said, I've had a few robot vacuums from other brands, and they were okay, but they just weren't quite right for our place. We've got this open-concept home with a super big living area. The other units would just kind of wander around, cleaning wherever, but there was no way to tell them to focus on a specific room or spot. That was super annoying because there were definitely areas that always needed more attention, like the kitchen and living room. We'd just have to cross our fingers and hope the vacuum would make it there, which often meant we just ended up cleaning the old-fashioned way instead of relying on the robot. Eventually, we just gave up and put it in a closet. But this Shark unit is a total game-changer. After setting up the app and connecting the unit, the first thing it did was map out the house. We closed the doors to a couple of rooms we didn't want it to go into, and the rest of the house was mapped out in no time. The cool part is that once it's done mapping, you can jump into the app and see exactly what your robot sees. Then you can use that map to break it down into smaller areas. This gives you the option to have the Shark Navigator focus on just one area or even multiple areas. You can even tweak the cleaning power. So, if you're just maintaining an area that doesn't get much foot traffic, you can use Eco mode. If one of your rooms got a lot of action, you can crank it up to Max mode to make sure it gets everything. Once it's done, the Shark (I named mine Sharkira) heads back to its station and dumps whatever it collected. If I had one small complaint, it's that the whole process of the little robot dumping its collection into the station is pretty loud. I definitely wouldn't set this to clean at night when everyone's asleep. Our family really loves this little robot. It's cut down our cleaning time a ton. I love that we can set up specific areas to focus on, and you can even mark areas as off-limits so it doesn't get stuck or pick up something it shouldn't. I can easily recommend this to anyone looking to save some cleaning time around the house.

Easy to set up, operate, and clean.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the last week, I've been testing the Shark Navigator Robot Vacuum with the self-emptying base. Overall, I think it is easy to set up, operate, and clean. It also does an excellent job of vacuuming carpet and bare floors. The one thing it struggles with is transitioning from carpet to thin rugs. The box contained the Robot Vacuum, Self-Empty Base Station, and a Corner Brush. The entire package is surprisingly light, making it very easy to move around. While I'm using it in my basement now, relocating it to another floor would be a simple lift-and-shift. After setting up the base station (which requires only 12 inches of clearance on each side), I used the convenient Shark Navigator app to connect the unit to my Wi-Fi. Every setup step was intuitive, and the connection was instantaneous and flawless. The Navigator's inaugural run began with a precise mapping of my basement, flawlessly creating the initial floorplan. I was then easily able to divide the basement into multiple individual rooms. After the unit recharged, I set it to clean. The results were immediate: I could clearly see the vacuum's entire path traced across the carpet, confirming it had meticulously cleaned every square inch with precision. However, whenever the Navigator had to switch from carpet to a rug, I noticed the corner brush would get caught on the edge of the rug and cause the Navigator to struggle to get over it. It would eventually be successful, but it's just something to note if you have thin rugs. When it was time to empty the base station, I was shocked at how much debris it picked up. I vacuum my basement fairly often and seriously didn't expect the self-emptying bin to be so full. With that said, I would highly recommend this robot vacuum.

Good, reliable cleaning - average battery
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tested the Shark Navigator Robot Vacuum on my second floor that has medium pile carpet and bathroom tiles. The vacuum did a great job of mapping areas accurately and the app is pretty user friendly. It also docks well on carpet, and the dust bin in both the vacuum and the self-empty base/dock are easy to access. The vacuum itself isn’t very loud even on its Max setting, though I still wouldn’t schedule it to run during bedtime. Appearance-wise, the Shark Navigator Robot Vacuum was smaller than expected, which was great but its color was navy blue-ish in direct sunlight (apparently this is supposed to be in a gray color if I’m not mistaken). I had trouble connecting ‘SharkCleanPro’ with Google Home - it kept saying ‘added,’ but the vacuum never showed up under devices. Instead, I was able to connect through ‘Shark Clean’ and use simple commands like ‘Ok Google, tell Shark to start vacuuming’ or ‘tell Shark to dock.’ However I still couldn’t get it to clean specific rooms using a Google Home speaker, but the app makes it easy to do so. The sweeper attachment sometimes missed debris and hair in the corners, but running the vacuum a second or third time usually picked up what was left behind. I liked how meticulously the vacuum attempted to sweep in between the stair balusters and it also had no issue with navigating into/around things like slippers in the bathroom (although it did push the slippers away to random spots). That being said, the vacuum’s battery life isn’t the best - from 100% battery, it cleaned about 850 square feet in total for about 133 minutes according to the Shark Clean app - in between this cleaning it had to go back to its dock and recharge for a few hours (about 4 hours or so) before finishing up the job. In my opinion the Shark Navigator Robot Vacuum does an excellent job overall and is perfect for automatic vacuuming in between regular cleanings.

Good for basic need w/ extra help of map function
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Review of Shark Navigator Robot Vacuum and Self Empty Base To start at high level, the Shark Navigator Robot Vacuum is a simplified version compared to other models and brands that deliver just enough for the basic need of cleaning in automated fashion. In the Box: It includes the vacuum, its detached brush, self empty base and manual. Setting up: 1. First need to attach the single brush that comes with it. 2. Then once decided on the location, plug it 3. After downloading the Shark Clean App and creating user/pass, need to add to the application, then connect it to the home wifi. 4. As First time usage, it requires to Explore the space/area to map. 5. As optionnal step, after the mapping is completed, can assign Room Name specific to the area. Using it: 1. Via its Application, it provides functions to start vacuum: 1.1. At the moment run for the entire space 1.2. At the moment run it for specifically selected room 1.3. Via Schedule. It allow to schedule by day of the week and by Start Time, Map Function As mentioned above in Setting Up section, for first time usage it Force to Explore first at least at the time of testing, hence it require to complete it before start the function of vacuuming. Once Map is completed, it is available via separate menu path Map, from which shows options to Add/Merge/Delete/Label all related to Room. Then on separate tab within same screen, it offer No-Go Zones functions by Add and Delete. Cleaning It does vacuum the dust at lest enough to sense cleaners of the space. Shark states it has powerful suction, but couldn’t notice the difference enough to impress. It also has Cliff Sensors that would identify stars and ledges to prevent of falling. But this I couldn’t test as it was used in flat surface only. Also the brand specification states the Shark Navigator works well on carpet as well, but from the usage result couldn’t notice any impression of greatness although it did remove part of dust and small pieces. What I wish it does better: 1. Noise: it is sounded compared to other brand I tested. 2. The brush is used only one side. As result, it has to to two trips to clean the same space. 3. Cleaning edges and border to the wall. It doesn’t reach to the edge and border against the wall when it is run via selection of Room area. 3. Obstacle recognition: As the brand states, it does recognize what is on the way. For instance, after the map layout is completed and start running it, and after the mapping there has been place an obstacle, it does recognize and move around to continue. Furthermore, it does this to go to the selected room area. However, this function is only done by touching the obstacle, not by recognizing ahead and avoiding Considering the vacuum use Lidar sensor would have expected recognize the obstacle ahead. 4. Handling of touching the edges or border of furniture or obstacles. This is a bit continuation of above point in which the vacuum has to touch and kind of clash against the object. Its result creates scratches on the furniture’s base which are can be sensible to clashes, and wall edges. 5. Map functions. 5.1 Layout of the scanned map shows bit confusing graphic. It creates borders in shade but then while setting the room area, it is allowed to select making inclusive of shading area part of cleaning. Hence, the issue comes to it is a bit challenging to set which area to set as Room and having to go through multiple trial of setting the room area, and test. 5.2. For Clean instance, it provides options to select Home or Rooms. Naturally selection of Home does shows selected the entire mapped area to cover. But then also the by Room option, as it allow to select which room, it has also option for All Room but cannot be selected when it is on Map mode. If it is on list mode, it can be selected All Rooms. 6. Schedule. It allow to schedule by days of the week and Start Time, However, it doesn’t provide option to select All Rooms/Home/ Selected Rooms, It is only for all rooms/Home by default. 7. Firmware update. Today most of devices in today market offer features enhancements or security fixes via Firmware update. But Shark doesn’t provide such function in their robots at least under the review and used in current Application version v6.3.0 6. Integration. It can be used with Alex and Google for Voice command, but not compatible to Matter or Apple Home. But aside of it, the voice command to start the robot has been cumbersome experience. It couldn’t recognize it baed on usage from iphone with Google Home. To finish, it does basic task such to help out the duties relevant to home maintenance in automated mode. And if small details don't represent stress, it is recommendable.

Don’t think I would let it go for 60 days
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had a few different robot vacuums over the years and it is good to see that they are getting better at what they do. For instance, the pathing on this one is very calculated and does a pretty good job of getting into areas that some previous versions wouldn’t even go into or would get stuck if they did. Having the self cleaning base makes things so much easier as the older versions required you to pick them up, pull a tray out, then empty that, then get it back on the base. With this one, you only have to do that every so often to make sure its filter is clean. However, despite the box saying the “self cleaning for up to 60 days”, I don’t think I let it go that long without some cleaning out. Not only is there a filter in the vacuum, but there is a screen in the container that it empties the bulk into, then a filter tube and smaller layer under that which gets dirty pretty quick. Of course, it all depends on how much you use it and how dirty your house gets too. But, just from a few runs, the filter inside the base needed a good knocking off or performance is sure to take a hit. Now, with that, maybe because it seems to be so much more powerful is why I saw so much dust on the internal base filter, because it was certainly vacuuming under areas I did not often reach myself. It made a noticeable difference on the floors, hard and carpet, and I vacuumed just the other day. So, from the small particulates, I certainly feel like it is more powerful that my older version. Besides, if you have pets, that internal base filter, which is washable, it probably going to start to collect some smells after 60 days. Like their other models, you just plug it up, open the app, run through the set up, open all the doors and let it explore. It will basically bump around the house creating an interesting map of your house. Then you can label each section so that you can later direct it to vacuum specific rooms or tell it to avoid specific spaces. Depending on the power level you set it for and how large your space is will depend on how long it takes. If you use max power and have a large area, it may have to take a break in the middle charge back up. But, for a 122sq ft space, it took 18 minutes and it had plenty of obstacles to get around. Overall, another great robot vacuum from Shark. Something you won’t have to maintain after every single run, but will have to empty the base and clean filters from time to time like any vacuum. It really does seem more powerful than their older models and has great coverage, even around obstacles.

The little Vac that could!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the things that never gets done in my home is vacuuming my rugs and floors on a regular basis. I often plan to do it, but it is always at the bottom of my priority list. So, I was in search of a solution to my quandary and that’s where the Shark - Navigator Robot Vacuum + Self-Empty Base comes in. With this little vacuum I can schedule or just say “Alexa, have the Shark clean”, and off it goes about its business. The best part is when it is done it returns to It’s base and empties and recharges. This little vacuum includes the base that the unit docs to, the robot vacuum and a cleaning brush. There is a large set of instructions with a smart label to download the Shark App to your phone to complete setup. Once you download the app to your phone, it guides you step by step in the setup process. One of the funny things when completing the setup is when it asks you to name it and it provides you with suggestions. The one I selected was “Steve McClean”. Once you connect it to your Wi-Fi and charge the battery above 50%, you can have it manually start cleaning. You just launch it from the app, and it goes around your house and cleans. Once the robot has filled its belly it returns to the base station to empty and charge. But where this robot vac really shines is when you have it map your house it can be launched from anywhere using the app and if you’re out you will return to a freshly vacuumed home. As far as noise levels are concerned, the Shark Robot Vac is much quieter than a conventional vacuum but is somewhat louder than its higher priced competition. One area that I haven’t found is a way to have it vacuum on a set schedule. The app seems to be basic and that’s not a bad thing, but there are some conveniences you may get from a more expensive brand that may not be included in the Shark. But all in all, for this price point it checks most of the boxes and does a very good job cleaning and rescuing me from my vacuum woes. I would absolutely recommend this little cleaning helper.

Has some issues.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Navigator list many features, some work, some semi work and some don’t work at all. Let’s jump right in. The vacuum comes in a navy-blue color with a matching base. I like the color; it looks very good. The Base acts as a charger and has a bagless self-empty storage. Setting up the vacuum is very easy, just follow the instructions in the Shark app. On your first run, the vacuum maps your home. Once your map is set, you can set up rooms and zones, set no clean zones, and set scheduled clean times. You can also set this vacuum up with Amazon Alexa. The Navigator has its strengths, but unfortunately it does have many weaknesses. The sensors work good as far as detecting heavy objects such as people, furniture, walls etc. But it does not do a good job at detecting small objects like little toys, it even just ran right through a shoe I had on the floor. It also got tripped up on some thick speaker wire I had laying against the wall, instead of stopping, it just kept going until it almost flipped over. If I wasn’t there to prop it back up, it would’ve just sat there. The company claims this vacuum has an anti-hair wrap brush roll, but after a few runs, I found a lot of hair curled around both the main brush and the side brush. The vacuum has 3 levels of suction power, low, med and high. On default its set on med, the one thing I noticed right away is how loud the vacuum runs. I switched it to high, and it sounds like a jet engine. I ran the vacuum in one room at a time; the app gave an estimated cleaning time of 5 min…36min later it finally finished. I don’t know if this is because it seems to get confused during the cleaning cycle, or it just gives a random time, either way it does take a awhile to clean. The one thing I really don’t liked is that vacuum doesn’t know when to empty the tank mid clean, it will complete a whole cleaning cycle without emptying the tank. With all the sensors, I don’t understand why there is no automatic detector to know when the bin is full, and it needs to be emptied. Overall, I am not totally impressed with the Shark Navigator. While the room mapping sensor is impressive and it detects large objects pretty good, it still manages to run over small objects and has no ability to self-empty mid cleaning cycle. The fact that I have to be present to make sure it doesn’t get stuck under an object or flip over from running over a cord, defeats the purpose of a robot self-cleaning vacuum. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this as a go to vacuum.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A simple fix and my rating would be a 4 to 5, but Shark really messed up with how to schedule your robot in the app. Once you get the vacuum setup and your house mapped you are all set to go with creating a schedule. My other robot vacuum from a different brand has the same mapping but the scheduling is much better. The issue with this shark vacuum is you cannot schedule what rooms to be cleaned on certain days, it's all or nothing. This is a huge miss in my eyes as what is the point of creating a map of your home if you cannot dictate what rooms to clean on certain days and times. My first floor is pretty large, and I know my other robot vacuum on one charge could clean half the first floor and then the next day I had it schedule to do the other half. This shark vacuum does not allow for that and basically runs until its dead, then goes back to charge for three hours and then comes back out to finish cleaning. I had my other robot vacuum scheduled to be done cleaning by 7AM. This allowed us to not have to see or get in the way of the vacuum. I tried that with this shark and while it started early in the morning it came back out in the late morning to finish cleaning and got in the way. Aside from that huge issue, I also noticed that this vacuum got stock on random items. One was the leg of a chair; the vacuum was almost fully off the ground. Not sure why or how the programming didn't stop before it reached that high and decided to keep getting more stuck until human interaction was required. The second time was it basically ran over a surge protector and got stuck on top of it. My other robot vacuum doesn't have obstacle avoidance and has never had these types of issues. Cleaning, it does a pretty good job and self-empty base can hold a decent amount of dirt. My other vacuum did not have the self-emptying base and required me to empty it every other day, so it was nice that it can just do its own thing. Overall, I would skip this vacuum until Shark fixes the scheduling issue. If you have a smaller home and this can clean it all in one charge, then this is not a bad machine. If you have a large home and will need more than one charge to clean, look at another robot vacuum that has a more robust scheduling software.

Does the job
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.3.5 stars, round up to 4. It works as advertised and helps keep things tidy, especially with 2 dogs and their hair. My reservation is similar to others, with the app. Its both handy and tricky to use, setting up "rooms" properly. I wish it had the ability to set up "zones", ie combine / group rooms (and save the combination). It has a "merge" but I dont think thats what I'm looking for. I still want to keep the rooms separate. The battery doesnt last for a complete "tour" around my 1st floor, so I need to stage a full tour. When it "evacuates and resumes" I'm not sure it remembers which set of rooms I set it up to do in that task. The app shows all rooms as highlighted upon resume. 1 time it resumed and seemed to go back to do the whole house, and another time it seemed to go back where it left off. So it was inconsistent, but it is still new, and may be learning. I dont know for sure.

Good Robot Vac
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Navigator Robot Vacuum is a very good robot vacuum. Setup is pretty simple. After unpacking everything and plugging it in, you just download the app and follow the instructions to get everything set up. Before cleaning for the first time, the vacuum makes a map of your home. I made sure to move any obstacles and left all doors open, and my map came out pretty accurate. Once you have a map, you can do things like label rooms and create no-go zones. I really appreciated the latter feature, since I have this glider rocker in my room that always gives robot vacs a real tough time. It swivels and rocks when vacs bump up against it and if it moves just right, a vac can get it self wedged under it and in one case, scratch itself all up. So rather than crossing my fingers and hoping that wouldn't happen this time, I was able to just highlight the area where the chair is in that room and created a no-go zone, and it just completely avoided the chair of doom altogether. I really like the flexibility the app gives you to edit and label your map. I've had the vacuum for a little over a week now and I have done a few test runs and every time I have been thoroughly impressed with the results. The first run however, I was a bit surprised that it had to stop midway through the last room to go recharge. This is the first robot vac I've had that couldn't finish the job one a single charge. In subsequent runs, I cleaned less rooms, so I was never able to see if it would need to take a break every time I try to clean the whole house. I was really excited that this robot vac has a self-emptying base, because that is one thing I didn't like about my previous robot vacs. Emptying those bins can get gross, and tedious if you have to do it multiple times during a run. So I really like that it would stop and empty itself in the middle of a run, saving me some time and effort. However, I was a bit surprised that the bin in the base doesn't have a bag or anything of the sort and you just empty the dust and dirt directly into the trash, just as if I was emptying the bin directly from the vac. So while I appreciate that it empties itself into the base, it seems like including a bag in the base bin would've really knocked it out of the park. Now, when it comes to the actual performance of this vac, I was really impressed. The first run I did picked up a ton of dirt and hair, as I hadn't vacuumed in quite a while, partially in prep for getting this vac, lol. But even on my subsequent runs, I was still very impressed, and a bit disgusted, at how much dust and dirt it was still pulling out of my carpet. One last thing I want to mention, which is small, but a little frustrating, is that the app does not show a live map of where the vacuum is cleaning. I have gotten used to this type of feature with other vacs I've owned, and it's a great way for me to see what's been cleaned and what hasn't, and allows me to estimate how much longer is left. But with the Shark app, you just see the status, and that's it. No live updating map or anything. Even when the job is complete, you only get a map that shows an overall overview of what was cleaned. I like in other apps it gives you the cleaning path and even if there were obstacles. So I feel like their reporting in the app could use some updates. That aside, I am still really impressed with the overall performance of this robot vac. I would definitely recommend.

A solid vacuum that excels at the fundamentals!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a fan of Shark vacuums for years. I've owned and enjoyed both corded and cordless models of their vacuums so when I discovered that they had introduced a robotic unit I decided to try it out. I've actually used a number of cordless robotic units from other manufacturers and found them wanting. Either they were clumsy to setup and operate or their cleaning ability left something to be desired. And, more recently, the manufacturers seem to be cramming every feature they can think of into the units making them unnecessarily complex and seeming to lose sight of what mattered - does the unit do a decent job of vacuuming? The Shark Navigator is checking the boxes for me! It is solidly built, thoughtfully designed and does a very good job of maintaining clean floors. They have limited the bells-and-whistles to useful functionality and focused on making a good floor cleaner! I found set up to be quite straight forward. The app is adequate and WiFi connectivity was straight forward. Be aware that the unit works on the 2.4GHz band only but once connected mine maintains signal and operates flawlessly. The unit comes preassembled in a single box that houses two smaller boxes inside . One contains the robot and it's side-brush (which you just snap into place) the other contains the base unit which charges the robot's battery and empties its internal dustbin via an automatic suction port that engages automatically when the robot docks. I can't overstate how important that function is since all of the robotic vacuums I have seen have very small internal dustbins! On initial startup the unit uses its internal LIDAR sensor to perform an exploratory mapping of your space. The little guy is very persistent and his low profile allows him to get into trouble by crawling into some tights spaces and even attempt to climb furniture legs if they are sloped! Make sure you pick up any loose items or cords and block off any areas you don't want cleaned. The app does provide the ability to mark out "no-go" zones but I found it to be hard to use. A quick note - the vacuum will not start that initial mapping run until it has reached at least 50% charge. Once setup you have the ability to specify the hours that unit can operate to create a "Do Not Disturb" feature. Very handy! I am very pleased with roller brush's design which seems to pick up more hair and is engineered to avoid hair wrapping. The single side brush is quite efficient and the bristles are long enough to reach into the baseboard crevices. The suction is very good and the cleaning pattern is VERY thorough. The robot handles both my carpeted and hardwood floors without any issues. The auto-emptying function is efficient and quick. A few niggles - I feel like charging is on the slow side - the unit needs about 3 hours to reach a full charge BUT, once charged it runs for a quite a long time. Navigation back to the charging base has been flawless. I also found the app to be adequate but communications with the robot can be a bit slow. All said - I like this vacuum very much. It is priced right and focuses on the fundamentals.
