Super Mid Price Vacuum with self clean rollers

    Posted .

This is a pretty awesome mid-priced Upright Vacuum. It does an unexpected wonderful job on hard flooring. The switch has a hard floor/carpet setting located on the canister. On carpet it does not have a height adjustment but still provides a great job on the carpets I used it on. The flexible head along with the unit being light provides excellent mobility and flexibility during usage. The suction is a manual flow control, so it is simplistic, but it works when using the attachments on drapes and the like. The attachments are push on / pull off – I always prefer the click on and off. The filters do their job, and the dust bin is rated at 0.8 gallons which can contain a lot of dirt and is easy to detach and dump. I was not expecting the self-cleaning brush roll to be able to do its job, but to my surprise it does. Picking up all kinds of hair and removing them from the roller. It even picks up and removes my wife’s long titanium strength hair which I must usually cut off the roller of our other high-end vacuum. Edge cleaning will often require several passes but dirt along the front bumper only one pass. The handle has the hose attached, and it is easy to switch to using the attachments. I miss not having a headlight – with the cost and a lightweight capability for bright LED’s it would have been nice. You can only stow two of the three attachment on the vacuum. Shark SU62 Navigator Pet Pro Upright Vacuum has a five-year warranty, weighs around 15lbs. And comes with a 25-foot cord.(though the manual states it is a ZU60, it is plainly marked on the unit as a ZU62) It can clean hard flooring, carpet and has a detachable handle, wand and hose (12 foot) with three attachments. The attachments are a duster/crevice tool, upholstery tool, and dusting brush. It has a pre-motor filter and a HEPA /Filter (post-motor). It is suggested that the premotor filter be cleaned every three months with water and replaced every two and a half years. It is suggested the HEPA filter be cleaned with water every year and replaced every three years.

I love this vacumn cleaner and it’s great at getting the pet hair up! The many attachments are beneficial for cleaning the steps or other hard to clean areas. It’s easy to use and I have never had a bagless vacumn...So this is Superb!

The best anti-clog brush roller yet

    Posted .

We've had long haired dogs for the past 30 years, so one can easily imagine that we've been through scads of vacuums over that time. Most of those we've purchased have come along with a promise of dealing with pet hair. This Shark U62 is now poised to replace our current Bissell Pet Hair Eraser. I've attached photos of the two side by side for comparison. The first thing we noticed was the power. Excellent suction; reaching down deep into the rugs without excessive drag force or an overly objectionable noise level. The next positive for this unit is container size - looking at the first photo, you can see the collector is super sized as compared to the Pet Hair Eraser. This has always been a pet peeve of ours, as hair does not compact well in these collectors, so you're constantly running back & forth to empty when doing more than one room. Now if someone would only figure out how to de-static pet hair so I don't have to stick my hand in the container to pull it out, that would be vacuum heaven! The second photo I provided is to show the length of the hose as compared to the Bissell. It's advertised as 12 feet, and it's not quite there yet until it's broken in, but out of the box it's substantially longer. The feel of it is that it does seem more pliable and better easily stretched. On the downside, the unit tips easily when pulling on the hose, but this is a drawback of just about any upright. By far, the #1 attraction of this unit is the roller design. It works! So far I haven't seen any major hair tangles on the brush. On the downside, I've come across two minor flaws. The first is that it doesn't edge clean as well as the Bissel, as the sides of the unit seem a bit thicker so the roller doesn't get as close. However, going head on into the wall, it'll pick up the residue. So, a little bit more work when doing hallways. The head unit does swivel well, but overall, when working in confined areas, the Bissell gets the edge. Some of this is also due to the Shark's additional weight and bulk. The second annoyance I found was with the Shark's crevice/brush tool included. The attachment is built to telescope, so when you want to use the brush you pull it down over the crevice. The problem is that it doesn't snap or lock into place, so if you use too much pressure, the brush just slides back far too easily. Overall, I'm very happy with the Shark and would strongly recommend considering it, most especially if you've got long haired pets as I do.

Really cool vac! There is not much not to love about this vacuum. Who wouldn’t want a vac that never gets hairs stuck on the brush head? I don’t have pictures for evidence but I vacuumed with my old vac before using the shark and when I used the shark it was still able to pick up more dirt and debris that was left behind. The vac also has ample cord length and a jumbo bin to hold the dirt and debris. The vac also rolls great and it feels like it glides while still cleaning the floors. I love the power button because you can set it for carpet or hardwood floor. When set to carpet the brush is set to high speed and when you set it to hardwood floor the brush motor still rolls (which is rare) at a lower speed. The nice part is with the hardwood floor setting with the decreased roller speed allows you to vacuum with a little bit more leverage but it doesn’t kick the dirt all around like other vacs who leave the speed on high or power off the brush roller. It should be noted if you click the vacuum up to stand up the roller shuts off so it doesn’t hurt your floors or carpet as you try to use the hose to vacuum. Very high quality vac.

No buyer's remorse with the Shark Navigator vacuum

I especially like the swivel head that helps to vacuum in corners, around and under furniture. Assembly took only a few minutes and literally, a teenager can do it. The cord length is ample allowing for vacuuming a lot of floor area without having to unplug all the time. Performance-wise, I was very impressed with the amount of dust and micro-fibers the Shark Navigator picked up from my carpet and rugs. I am pretty happy with the handle attachments as they helped in the stairwell and nook & cranny spaces. I would recommend to a friend.

    You can count on Shark

    Posted .

So my household goes through ALOT of vacuums. We have a dog that sheds year round and kids that do not know the meaning of cleaning up after themselves. So I have gone through alot of vacuums. Shark is always one of the greats. When you first get it out of the box, it needs to be assembled. Assembly was simple and easy. The first thing that I noticed was that it was really light! I put this baby to use right away and man did it impress. The suction can be controlled with a Suction Control slider on the handle. It is very powerful. I used it on my carpet which had already been vacuumed earlier in the week with an older vacuum and it still was pulling up fine dirt. You have to play with the Suction Control slider to strike a balance between how hard you want to push and how much suction. With it at maximum, I had a bit of trouble pushing but there was a sweet spot in the middle. Like most uprights, it isn't really for getting under sofas and beds. If you REALLY want to get in there, there is a separate attachment called an under appliance wand that you can get separately. You can detach either the handle or the wand when you want more control and/or reach. I really like this. The wand is pretty long and has a good reach. With the extendable hose, there is a reach of up to 12 feet to get those crevices that you just couldn't reach before. There are three accessories. It comes with a duster crevice tool, upholstery tool, and dusting brush. Pretty standard. I believe there are some more accessories you could buy but they are not included. The crappy part is that there are only 2 spots on the vacuum to store tools which means you'll have to keep the least used one stored somewhere. I really don't understand why manufacturers do this...Hopefully, you won't need it or lose it when you do. I will say that the vacuum sometimes falls over when you use the hose attachment. The extra large canister is simple but genius. Now this vacuum is geared specifically for those with pets and/or people that need some extra cleaning. Not having to worry about the canister when cleaning really is a nice tool. The self-cleaning roller is a great bonus in that regard too. I think many people can relate to the struggles of removing hair from brush rolls... A con for some people might be that there is no light. While I do not depend on it too much, I still understand that it can be nice seeing the dirt and dust when you vacuum. This may be important for some people. Another potential con is that the power cord at 25' feels a bit shorter than I would like. This is one thing to consider if you don't like switching plugs in the middle of cleaning. All in all, a good vacuum. You do pay a bit of a premium for the Shark name but it is a dependable vacuum that is lightweight, great capacity, and great suction. I will update in the comments on the durability of the vacuum after surviving my house.

    Great for Pet Owners

The Shark - Navigator Pet Pro ZU62 Bagless Pet Upright Vacuum - Pewter Gray Metallic is great for so many reasons. I am a true fur baby mom with 2 dogs; one is not a shedding machine, but the other one is. I have a couple of Duo Clean Shark machines, but if you have pets, those past models do not self-clean and as my cleaning lady has told me, they look like they are growing hair. From time to time, I have to remove the brushes and cut off hair that wraps around the rollers, a pain. So far so good-I love, love, love the self cleaning Zero M technology that cleans the roller head (see attached picture). Obviously, the less work that I have, the better off I am. Additionally, there is a 3XL collection cup and I know that my cleaning lady and I will really appreciate that since I have a good sized 2 story home-less time walking to the garbage can to dump the dust cup of its contents. This vacuum took less than 5 minutes to assemble and it is very easy to detach the hose from the vacuum's body to do higher up cleaning. Likewise, when you want to pull the handle to vacuum steps, etc. it is easily done without much physical effort. Bottom line, when you push on a click it works to disengage a vacuum part so it can be used in its various other formats. I believe I need to work on elongating the 12" hose so that when it, I can seamlessly do so without pulling over the vacuum's body. I have stood the vacuum next to a step or a wall so that it would not tip over. I have had this vacuum less than a week, clearly not long enough to encounter any technical issues, but so far from what I have seen it is a winner.

The vacuum has pretty good power and is easy to use. The only negatives are that the power cord is a little short so you often have to change your power source when you move from room to room. They suggest that you can vacuum upstairs using the wand release with the main unit at the bottom, but before you can stretch the accordion hose very far, the vacuum crashes to the floor.

Great at collecting hair and dander

    Posted .

Setup: First, thank you Shark for using cardboard inserts as packing material. It makes 90% of the packaging recyclable in my area. Unpacking and setup are super easy. Just be sure to read the quick start instructions. There are also several spots secured by tape. Be sure to pull these before using the vacuum. There is also useful information on the tape. All but two of the attachments can be stored on the unit. Operation: This is my fourth Shark Vacuum. Every one of them have enjoyed long life with my family. But every vacuum cleaner eventually runs it course and needs replacing. This time around we chose the Shark Navigator Pet Pro ZU62. I have two bunnies and a cat. Bunnies are the worst when it comes to shedding. It never stops! We also have multiple rugs that require regular vacuuming to keep the hair and dander under control. This vacuum does an excellent job at collecting all that pesky hair! My last shark had the fabric roller on the front as well as the hair collector. This one does not have the fabric roller. I was wary when getting this thinking that the fabric roller is the magic to Shark vacuums. I was right and wrong. The fabric roller is magical. The ZU62 doesn’t need it. It still gives that same high-quality cleaning that I have come to expect from Shark. I enjoy the fact that the collection basket if three times the size of my old Shark. I appreciate the larger basket. It means that I must empty the basket less often. This is especially important during the winter months. I empty the basket on my sharks outside. The less frequently I must brave the harsh New England winter in my cleaning clothes the better. The vacuum is also lighter than previous Shark models. This is the first thing my wife commented on when she used it for the first time. The weight with the old Shark was the weight. She always had to use the unit in standup mode because the motor and collection basket was too heavy for her to walk around the house with. This made cleaning things like stairs and furniture difficult for her. Those tasks became my tasks. Another great feature of this vacuum is the longer accordion hose. The old vacuum had a very short hose. We normally found ourselves dragging the vacuum around with us when we used the detachable wand or an attachment with the handle. I realize that we can solve this problem by detaching the motor and collection basket. Then again, it was too heavy for that. I can now leave the vacuum in the upright position while vacuuming my couch, the bottom and top third of my stairs, and it is much easier to vacuum the ceiling cobwebs and behind the entertainment center. I have multiple surface types: hardwood floors, rugs, and tile. The hardwood floor setting does a great job on my hardwood flooring, tile, and Berber style rugs. Dirt, hay (yes, I said hay), and animal hair were removed easily from the flooring and rug using this setting. I used the rug setting on my deeper pile rugs in my living room and bedroom. Again, all the dirt simply vanished from the rug. I also have a home full of girls and women. They lose as much hair to brushing as the pets do to molting. Quite a bit of long hair was collected by this vacuum. I only see a few strands of long hair wrapped around the bristles after two weeks of usage. That is pretty good. I had to clean off the bristles of my old Shark every month or two due to hair, pieces of yarn, and even loose threads from our rugs getting wrapped around the bristles. I am not going to declare victory regarding Shark’s stated anti-tangle bristles. I have not owned the machine long enough to state that their no tangle technology works. I will say so far so good. Movement around my floor is just as easy and wonderful as my previous Sharks. Controlling the Navigator ZU62 is a bit easier due to the lighter weight material. My only criticism is that there are no LED lights on this model. Light casts shadows unevenly on a floor. It is sometimes difficult to see dirt under tables, chairs, and cabinets. My wife and I did debate if the LED lights were important enough to outweigh the advantages of the larger collection basket, lighter weight, and the longer accordion hose. We chose to go without the lights. We still miss the lights and hope that future models will include the feature. They do come in handy when cleaning under furniture and when cleaning poorly lit rooms. The only other con I found with this vacuum is the placement of the power button. Why did Shark move the power button, which also doubles as the floor type button, move it to the body of the vacuum from the handle. I preferred it on the handle. This may not be important to everyone. And a minor issue at best. Emptying the collection basket is still easy to do. Separating the body from the frame is still easy to do. All the parts disconnected at the snap of strategically located buttons. And they all reconnect with a snap that locks the parts in place. Super easy! Final thoughts: I like this vacuum cleaner. I think Shark did another amazing job with this model. The longer accordion hose, the lighter weight, and the larger collection basket out weight the positioning of the power button/floor type selection button and the lack of LED lights. This vacuum does an amazing job of cleaning animal hair, reducing tangles on the bristles, and with general cleaning of multiple floor types. If you have a lot of pets, or a furry friend who sheds a lot, then I encourage you to give this Shark a try.

    Shark - Navigator Pet Pro-ZU62

    Posted .

When I got this vacuum in, I was admittingly skeptical. I had an old Shark vac that I really like and got a great deal on back in the day and is now about 5 years old. So I was kind of excited to see what Shark had improved upon since then, and the 5 year old unit was an old unit when I got it, meaning it was a discontinued model from what I understand. Upon receiving the box, I noticed it was pretty light and that is a good and bad thing for me. Good being that my wife can pick it up without much work and bad because I use the extension rod a lot and that means that it may be prone to tipping. Unboxing it was a breeze. It was nicely boxed with the accessories on top and everything else left below. I also loved that they are using paper packing with recycled plastics rather than styrofoam. Great small touch! Also a great piece of work, is the quick start guide. It pretty much had me going in 7 minutes from unpacking, removing packing tapes and clipping pieces to the vacuum. My one issue is that vacuum can only hold 2 of the three accessories, which is a silly thing for me. Can’t they just place another smaller holder somewhere? I may be missing it entirely, but I didn’t see it indicated in the manual. Ok in using the ZU62, my skeptical side really didn’t believe the anti-tangle brushes that are equipped for my usage. I have a cat and my wife that has long hair that easily tangles into the rotating brushes in vacuums and like many people do, use scissors to unbind the brush because of the tangled hair and fur the house brings to the vacuums that I have used in the past. This includes the highly expensive models and also my daily use Shark. My first major test for this vacuum was my carpeted bedroom. I cleared the carpet and went to town. I used the pet hair vacuum extension and found that it was mediocre. My other Shark had an attachment that had a rotating brush accessory that brushed hair into the vacuum like no ones business. The only negative to that is that it often tangles and I have to take it apart to clean properly, which is a pain. No back to the carpet at hand, the major test room. I switched the unit to “carpet” and started. I adjusted the suction to max because I was not dealing with area rugs and used to the suction method used here. People not used to this feature, there is a bit of a learning curve to it. I then attacked the corners of the bedroom. It did fairly well but I had to use the rod to fine tune and vacuum the little crevices when the crown molding meets the carpet. I finished it up and found that the cup was about half full at this point and did it’s job pretty well so far. I went to the AC unit and used the rod and vacuumed around for hairs and debris in the filter which I normally do as well. This is where the fine dusting extension will come in handy. Then I went and vacuumed the hard wood floors. I switched the unit to hard floors and had at it. Like the other Shark, the swivel head works great however because of how the head is shaped, you cannot really go underneath objects without bumping up against it. For this I used the extension rod again and went under the areas I needed to. And what did I find out? The unit does tip if over and hits you if you don’t keep an eye on it and close to you, even though there’s enough slack in the hose for you to go further in your cleaning. Ok so after that, I went throughout the house and then after a certain section, I found that the power cord was pulled from the socket. My other Shark lets me to a certain point that I am used to and forgot that this was a new unit and didn’t think the cord length was different. It was. I haven’t measured it, but it is indeed a bit shorter. Not the biggest deal, but it’s worth noting. After the floors, I went and vacuumed the cat area which had a bit of litter scattered around the boxes. So I opted to use the handle extension and minimum suction to take it all it. It worked like a charm. After I was done, I went to empty the container. Like the other Shark unit, it’s super easy to remove and dump the container. But this one has a bottom and top portion to empty. No big deal, but while you have the top handle to hold onto to empty the bottom, when emptying the top portion, there is no handle to hold on to, you have to dump it like a bucket. My other Shark didn’t have separated parts, rather two openings, where if you have hair or lighter things caught in the top portion you open the top part and dump after dumping the bottom. But in doing this, there are two handles, the one on top and one in the middle. I guess that is where the ‘extra’ space is given. Again, not a deal breaker, but another note to keep in mind if you have an older Shark that has this handle. All in all, how did this fare to my older model? Well the non tangle brush head worked! No cutting needed so far. The suction is done well. The only negative which carryied over from the older unit is that when using the vacuums to suck up the fine cat litter, I found that some of the litter accumulated on the filter when removing the lint container. Other than that, the improvements from the older model does make it useful, the tangle free brush head is heaven sent and love that feature. The extra space in the trap is welcomed, especially when dealing with pet hair. That’s pretty well thought out. Would I recommend it? Yes for a pet family. Like many vacuums made for pets, I recommend cleaning the filters to prolong the life of the unit. It’s a great vacuum for the money!

This vacuum works very well it sucks up all the dirt and pet hair. It’s easy to empty the dirt too. My family actually enjoys vacuuming now. With a family full of women with long hair we have to cut the hair out of the bristle part of the vacuum every few weeks which is kind of annoying but worth it. I recommend this vacuum to everyone.

    Love this vacuum!

I vacuumed the carpet and was amazed at how much dirt, debris, and cat fur it picked up. The cord is long enough to go room to room and I don't have to adjust height from carpet to floor. The swivel head allows for maximum coverage.

    Great vacuum cleaner

This vacuum cleaner is great. It does what a vacuum cleaner is supposed to do. It gets my carpets clean and is easy to move. I use the attachments to clean my car. Best of all (for me anyway): it does not stir up dust. Highly recommend!

Great Vacuum That Needs One Minor Tweak.

After having this vacuum for over a year I can say this is my favorite vacuum that I have ever owned. The reason that I rated this as 4/5 stars is the inability to pop out the brush roll and clean that. With a lab in the house, the dander that this thing sucks up is unparalleled. I normally wash the canister after each use, and have ordered a replacement HEPA and foam filter on Amazon. Each time I do that, its like a brand new vacuum. Just wish that the brush roll could be removed and cleaned to complete the refresh.
