Best carpet spot cleaner I have ever used. Wish it held more dirty water but worth every penny.

This is actually a pretty neatly designed little unit. Engineering is outstanding. Everything fit well, stays tight, and it's so ridiculously compact. They ship it with the two bottles of product to use with it. One of them is a concentrate that you dilute with the water tank. The other is the other cleaning agent that is used straight. The concentrate is an absolutely tiny amount in the water tank - they have a fill line for water, then the fill line after the water is in there to show how much concentrate to put in there. It's like a centimeter or so from the water fill line to the concentrate fill line, so you don't use much of that. This box came with two attachments - the normal cleaning head, and a pet mess cleaning head. I have no pet so can't test that, but I like the way it has its own reservoir to keep the pet mess out of the main dirty water tank. This little one is going to allow a much easier job of cleanup. I don't have any new stains to clean. My carpet has sustained stains from my son as he grew up, but the last stain is over a year old since he graduated and moved out 15 months ago. So I tried on some of the newest ones. I wasn't expecting much, since this seems like a pretty small device, and I didn't imagine much power inside. It is very simple to use. The main cleaning head has a reversible scrubbing part, so one side has standard bristles on it like a brush, the other side has the rubbery points, so you can choose which will work best on the material and it flips over easily. As soon as I hit the power button, I realized that my assumption of a lack of power was probably false - this thing is LOUD with a piercing pitch to it that really didn't sit well with my tinnitus. But that also told me that there's a motor in here that is definitely generating suction. I had a few different types of stains to test on where he used to sit at the dining table. A few were dark spots where something fell in small, concentrated spots. A couple others were larger area ones where something like a drink or something was spilled. My kid had ADD so he'd hide the fact that anything happened when he could until it was too late to do a simple removal. I didn't make too much of an effort later since I knew the carpet was going to be replaced at some point after he moved with hardwood floors. So this would give me a good test run. I had mixed results. A few of the dark, concentrated spots are lighter now than they were before in color, so they're not so noticeable. A few didn't get impacted at all. The other spots where it looked like some kind of drink was spilled, did a bit better for the cleanup, even all this time later. One or two of them I can still notice if I look closely, but a couple of them I can't find anymore at all. I would think this would really excel at a fresh stain. The cleaning agent must be quite effective if it did anything at all to some of these older stains, and the suction that it produces is amazing for the size. The areas were a little damp after I was finished, and dried quickly, so it definitely was pulling the moisture out. Cleanup was actually a pleasant surprise. Everything comes apart easily and makes for fast rinsing and emptying. The hose itself has a special cap that goes over the end you attach the cleaning brushes to, and basically loops the cleaning fluid back right into the suction tube. In maybe 3 or 4 minutes I had it laid out in the bathroom already drying from my cleaning. So your mileage may vary on older marks on materials, but on something fresh, this should do a very good job.

I absolutely love this product. When I thought that I had already all types of vacuums and cleaners and no more needed to be added to the stock, I found that for every localized stain in your sofa, carpet, or upholstery couches a portable cleaner is your fastest and most efficient solution. Shark is well known for its quality products and all-inclusive kits: machines, multiple adapters (for multiple surfaces), and cleaning products. In recent years, they tried also to increase the quality of their products to be sure that they can be a solution for your pets’ stains. The Shark® StainStriker™ Portable Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner is not an exception, but in my opinion, a more advanced and portable solution that I found in the market. You have in your box the machine with three different reservoirs: one for clean water and soap, one for the extra cleaner, and the last one as a reservoir for the liquid after vacuuming the cleaned area. That means that you just need to fill the two reservoirs with detergent, connect to the power, and after turning on the device, spray the stain with the cleaning liquid after a few interactions with the brush just vacuum the area. The strong suction ensures that all dirty water will be collected directly in the reservoir that you will just empty in your bathroom. With three tools of different sizes depending on your area, you can cover all types of dirt or spills on your different surfaces. I appreciate that Shark is adding to the box two of their cleaning product as a big sampling: soap and their “stain-striking” soap for heavy-duty stains. They both work right and it’s enough quantity for the two weeks that I’ve been using the machine. With a superlight 9-pound weight is perfect for cleaning areas of difficult access but also to do the cleaning process directly over the stain, for example directly on your sofa or your curtain. I was observing that with this technology, I am saving the time of dismounting the curtain from the rails or separating the fabric from the cushion to put in the washing machine. The final big test was over my large living room carpet, after a pizza party with my 13 y-o. In a previous life, I imagined a couple of days process of cleaning the affected area with some clean cloth and dry soap solution, using a brush and vacuuming only after being completely dry, with the shark cleaner that was a 15-minute total operation and a perfect result, with all dirt (tomato sauce) collected in one container. With so many items in small spaces, I like that the cleaning machine requires very small storage space. The possibility of the electric wire and vacuum tubes all rolled up around your machine makes it all less disorganized. Finally, a good reminder that Shark covers its products with a large guarantee, three years in this case. I call this a no-risk investment because based on my previous experience with a different Shark product, I can add that behind that guarantee there is a great post-sales team.

The Shark StainStriker Portable Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner is a great, powerful cleaning appliance. After testing it out in a few different areas, following are my observations: - It came neatly packaged, basically all assembled except for the nozzle. It came with with three nozzles - a crevice tool, 3.5" hand tool, and a pet-mess tool, 2 cleaning solutions, a quick start guide and a small pamphlet with illustrations and descriptions of operation and a trouble-shooting section. - The instructions were very easy to follow and the unit is very easy to use. It was easy to fill both tanks, with clear instructions and measurement markings on the tanks. - The StainStriker is a little louder than I was expecting, but not as loud as some other shampooers I have used. - The StainStriker is portable and lightweight, making it easy to transport around my house or use on stairs. - I have some new carpet that had a soda stain which I had previously worked on cleaning with a couple different methods, but the stain was still noticeable. I used the StainStriker with the 3.5" hand tool and followed the instructions for a dried, set-in stain. I scrubbed the stain first, then sprayed and scrubbed some more, then went over the area multiple times. The suction seems to be good, but it still requires multiple passes to absorb all the moisture. When I was done and the carpet dried, the StainStriker had completely removed the stain! - I also shampooed both a rug and carpet in front of a chair that are in heavy traffic areas. I was shocked at how dirty the water was that was extracted in those areas. Both the rug and the section of carpet looked much better after cleaning them. - The tanks were easy to clean up after use and I am able to store the unit back in it's original box. - The only suggestion I would have for improvement is that I wish they gave measurements that allowed you to only fill the tanks partially in the event you just want to spot clean a small area, rather than having to fill the tanks just to clean a small area where you don't need a full tank. Overall, the Shark StainStriker Portable Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner does a great job. I love the portability and ease of use and it is very effective in cleaning. I would definitely recommend it!

This would leak when it was not in use. The room would then smell because of it.

So glad I am able to review this little cleaning machine! It is perfect for spots on carpets, upholstery, cars and even mattresses! It is super easy to prepare for use, use, and clean up afterwards! The machine is quite lightweight, even when filled with water. The unique two bottle cleaning solution lets you have fresh stain fighting and cleaning every time. Filling the water canister at the kitchen sink was a breeze. Like all Shark vacuums/cleaners, this one is thoughtfully engineered for how real people use products and every bit is clearly notated. the machine is not very heavy and I had not trouble carrying it from job to job..... the first day, I cleaned the upholstered seats in my truck where a 12-pack of soda exploded in the heat--- perfect! Next stop were the dark brown recliners where my dogs lounge. While the dark extraction water was pretty awful, I feel really good knowing that all that dirt is gone! The final piece I cleaned was my mattress. I cannot remove the cover on the mattress, so previously I had just vacuumed and spot cleaned with a sponge. The StainStriker came to my rescue! The best part was that the extracting pulls out a larger amount of the water than I have seen with similar machines. Thus, the mattress was dry in time for bed! Perfect! the StainStriker has different 'nozzles' for the end of the wand. The crevice tool was great for the truck. The bristle tool worked well on the mattress. Best of all, the Pet tool helped with the dirt and messes my three dogs bring in. Next, I will clean carpet in the vehicles! Living on a farm, we have a lot of dirt, but this StainStriker is small enough to maneuver in tight places. My recommendation to other users is to dump the dirty water outside or in a toilet. Putting it down the kitchen sink not recommended as dirt can collect and result in a drain clog.

What a great little unit! Right off the bat the first thing I noticed is that the unit is so compact. I find I am less likely to use something if there are many parts to put together and or extensive directions to read. I was able to figure out how to attached the additional tools, how to add water and cleaning fluid without reading a thing. Bravo Shark. Everything is all attached so it’s easy to pull out add water and cleaning fluid and clean that spot right away. The unit I received came with two additional cleaning tools; the 3.5” hand tool and the pet mess tool. Shark really put a lot of thought into this unit and it shows. The pet mess tool collects the dirty water separate from the main unit so you don’t get pet business in the main unit. Really thoughtful, thank you! The rug in my living room has a cream color band around the edge. The dog lays on the rug so of course the band is now a bit more grey than cream color. Using only the Deep Clean solution (not the Oxy multiplier) I was amazed how clean and well, cream colored the edging really is. Next I added the Oxy multiplier and cleaned a spot next to the first area I cleaned. With Oxy multiplier it added a brightness. It looks really nice. Fortunately, I don’t need the pet mess tool yet, my puppy is 13. I expect as time goes on this will be very helpful. Definitely, recommend this little compact unit.

This is an awesome spot cleaner! We don't have any carpets in our house, but the RV does, so we got this to clean the carpets. The carpeted area in the RV is only in the bedroom and in the front cab area. So a typical big and bulky carpet cleaner won't fit where we needed to clean the carpets at. After opening the box and removing everything, it was a simple process following the instructions to put this carpet cleaner to work. By adding water and the included cleaning solutions to the tanks, it was time to start cleaning. We attached the 3.5" hand tool, plugged the machine in and started in the bedroom, it's an easy process, spray, scrub, extract. After doing the bedroom, we were amazed at how much dirt came out of the carpet that we thought was clean! The next section was the front cab area, same process, but we decided to only do half and see the difference in what this machine could do. It pulled lots of dirt out as this is a busy area of the RV. Once the carpet dried, it was looking like brand new carpet compared to the other side. We then did the passenger side of the carpet and it turned out just as good. The tank size is good and you can do a lot of carpet before you need to empty it. The 12' cord makes it easy to do areas that are far from an outlet. This is a great spot cleaner that we would recommend for anyone looking for one.

After using my Shark StainStriker Portable, my initial thoughts were innovative performance and eye-catching effectiveness. Shark found a way to remove the CarpetXpert's StainStriker feature and make a standalone compact and portable unit to become my new favorite extractor for cleaning up spills and stains around the house and vehicles. Great work, Shark; you have another hit in the making! I use it when detailing my vehicles, and I would try it with a detailing business startup for the price to performance. It is lightweight, easy to carry, and not burdensome to my cleaning workflow. I actually LOOK for reasons to use this now. **BUYER BEWARE: you may develop signs of OCD because you want to see clean, and it's easy to use!** This is a joke of course and I must add a disclaimer nowadays :) Out of the box, minimal construction is necessary as everything is housed onboard a small self-contained unit with an ample 4.3ft hose and 12ft cord for any cleanup job. WHAT'S INCLUDED? Shark StainStriker, integrated crevice tool, 3.5" reversible bristle tool, pet tool, hose clean tool, 6oz Deep Clean Pro Formula, 12oz OXY Multiplier Formula. The StainStriker Portable is the perfect sweet spot where value meets quality without compromising cleanliness and performance. Using a two-part solution, stains are visibly reduced, and odors are neutralized, unlike anything I have used before. I have other machines from other competitors, and their solution isn't even close. The secret is really in the "sauce" oxy multiplier that works a reaction live on the stain you don't get with premixed one-part solutions. There is no need to pretreat stains, which is also time-saving. The cleaner smells ok but leans more to the cleaner side than the fragrance. That is okay because I want it to be clean, and I can freshen up with the Febreze of my choice afterward. You take out the tools, read the manual, familiarize yourself with clean-up and maintenance processes, mix and load water/solutions, and then make stains disappear! The cleaning tools are also very effective and useful. From the 2 part solution to the brush integrated into the handle tip and the handle with a separator tank for nasty jobs you may not want to suck into your machine, this is innovative and effective on multiple levels. There is a 3.5-inch head with reversible rubber/nylon bristles making this adaptable for various uses from carpets and rugs to furniture and upholstery. Use the included self-cleaning tip to rinse the handle and maintain your machine for optimal performance! For cleaning and refilling, it utilizes a 3-tank system of small manageable tanks with handles that all house in the base so anyone can get the job done. Each side of the machine handles a separate function, and I just love how well thought out the design is, EXCEPT the hose is a tad short at initial setup out of the box trying to secure the handle in the holster. However, the hose will stretch over time and eventually "settle," so just be careful not to break anything when stretching it to the cradle. I set it up in a warm room in early fall; however, be mindful that the hose may be cold and brittle in colder temperatures. Easy to Love About +Lightweight - weighs less than 9 lbs. empty. With solution tanks full, it weighs less than 10 lbs.! One finger can carry this thing in most cases, so one-handed is even EASIER! +Separator Attachment - a brush head with a separator keeps chunks and nasty clean-ups out of the tank to eliminate clogs and minimize germs and smells. +Suction - suction power is excellent. The carpets are slightly damp and not soaked like other spot cleaners I used. +Dual Activated Solution - the secret is in the sauce! The solution is super effective and does most of the work on stains. You can see the stain color gets neutralized, and there is no issue with the discoloring of the carpet. Things to Think About -Solution - a double-edged sword here. It works great, but you need two bottles of solution, and it uses a lot when you spray. You are looking at close to $30 after tax for a set of two bottles. Deep Clean Pro and OXY Multiplier mean 2x more managing cleaners. -Solution Availability - good luck finding more solutions after your initial bottles! Sold out on Shark's site and not listed on Amazon or any other site I could find. It works so well that it vanishes like the spots they clean. You won't be able to walk into any big box retailer to grab more, either. The 1st Step, Deep Clean Pro solution, is only listed on Shark's site as sold out. The 2nd Step, OXY Multiplier is more readily available, so one can only expect production to catch up to match. -Hose hanger. This is more on the hose length needed to be an inch longer, so you don't need to feel like you are stretching the hose just to get it to reach. I believe this is an EXCELLENT product and could be proof of concept to build a more robust PRO version in which you get interchangeable hoses and other tools released. Maybe a commercial version can be created to go up against the big boys having more powerful motors and suction built of steel or other combinations than plastic. I can see this going into a cordless model with their battery system and I can see this going far. The sky is the limit for Shark on this one. I would love to work with them and have fun making this product and make it a no-brainer instead of a nice-to-have in every home. This makes a great gift for anyone in your life who has carpet, children or pets, and just a messy car interior in general. They will be convinced how having this around can keep their things looking nicer. It is easy to use and no one can say this is hard. On the rare occasion of a spill, even my 7 yr & 10 yr olds help and want to clean their own messes HAHAHA.

The Shark - Stain Striker Portable Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner is a pretty spiffy and handy cleaning workhorse. The unit comes with three (3) head attachments: 1 - large attachment with rubber scrubber, 1 - crevice tool for tight spots, and 1 - medium attachment that has a bristle brush for scrubbing fabric. The unit is small and will not take up a lot of space which is a plus. The cord is pretty long which is needed on devices like this. The only big negative is that there is no caddy to hold the attachments that you are not using at the time. I see pieces getting lost very quickly. Spot cleaned several spots on upholstery on fabric on the pews at our church. Most came out very easily thanks to this handy device and its cleaning solutions. It comes with one bottle of concentrate and one bottle of detergent. Unit was easy to use. Emptying the dirty water container was also very easy. Will definitely be helping our fabric surfaces and upholstery looking its best. Recommend this device.

If I'm perfectly honest, there isn't much that separates this from other spot cleaners. But there are some areas where it excels, enough where I'm happy to replace my old spot cleaner with it. So, like typical spot cleaners, it has a clean water tank with detergent, that has a water fill line that you fill to, then a detergent fill line that you top off the water with. This tank is quiet large and I've cleaned a few small pet messes with this already and I don't think the tank is even half-empty yet. But, also I haven't needed to use a whole lot of the water to clean the messes, because the detergent mix seems to work really well. The dirty water tank is also generous, but if you've ever used a vac or mop, you never leave dirty water in the dirty water tank. That is a mistake you only make once. Mercifully, Shark has made this dirty water tank easy to clean, which is one of the areas this excels. My old cleaner the tank was an odd shape, and getting all the corners of the tank rinsed was nearly impossible, meaning it quickly developed odors. This tank is fairly squared off, and the whole top comes off, making it easy to access all corners and clean it out. The lid also needs rinsing and is a bit harder to get a good rinse, but I'm hoping it doesn't collect dirt and debris as easily. This comes with 2 brush attachments. The smaller one you can flip the bristle brush around in favor of silicon teeth, which are stiffer and also better at picking up animal hair. The larger attachment has only the silicon teeth, but it also has its own dirty water tank. The instructions tell you to use this for pet messes (i.e. the really nasty stinky ones) so you can confine the extra gross water to the small dirty water tank. Both brushes snap onto the hose which has the trigger for the clean water spray. The spray sprays straight down, and not toward the brush, and has a pretty soaking and wide spray. The handle also includes a guide on the pattern you should follow for wet and dry messes. I usually just did my own thing. Both brushes also allow you to snap off the top of it to clean out the interior of the brush. Something you should do after every cleaning. You can also use this with no brushes, as the hose has its own small bristle brush on the end for getting into small and tight areas. This is a nice feature to have. Sucking/drying the fabric seemed to be about typical performance for a machine like this. When you're done, whatever you were cleaning will still be damp, just not soaking wet. The final thing to note is the "Oxy Multiplier" solution/tank. This is a separate small tank that sits next to the clean water tank and mixes in automatically. When cleaning my off-white rug, at first I thought it might be bleaching it, but the rug was actually that dirty, so I'd say it works really well!!

This is my second spot cleaner / upholstery cleaner. The Shark is by far superior. It comes pretty much assembled. All you have to do is add the cleaning solutions and attached the cleaning heads. I don't like the way the solution tank is set up as far as the measuring of the solution and water. The tank doesn't sit level so it makes it a little difficult to see. Other than that it's no issues. The attachments are great. The Pet-Mess attachment does a good job of keeping the "chunky" parts out of the water tank to keep it from getting clogged up...love that feature. Both the cleaning attachments work well and have agitators. My only negative about the handles are that if you press too hard you can see them separate at the base of the wand. Obviously, probably shouldn't be pushing to where it might break, but I feel it could be made more sturdy at the connection point. The size of the dirty water tank if more than enough than needed for doing upholstery or spot cleaning. You won't have to keep changing the tank over and over again...but make sure you clean it once complete or you'll have a stinky mess as with any cleaner that sucks up liquid. The tank releases easily and is easy to clean as well. When done the cleaner hose, wraps around and cleaning handle attaches to the base unit for storage. It's light weight and easy to store.

I was so excited to finally find a portable carpet and upholstery cleaner that is actually lightweight (less than nine pounds), small (just a touch bigger than a cubic foot), and still has a decently long hose (over four feet). I have always had pets in my life and this machine is absolutely perfect for their small, infrequent messes. It is simple to set up and even easier to use. The instructions are clear, and the cleaner is easily manageable by one person. I really liked all of the extra tools this unit came with: there is an integrated crevice tool, a 3.5" reversible bristle tool (brush bristle and rubber bristle), pet tool (one with special tank attachment), and a hose clean tool. For detergent, this unit uses something called StainStriker technology; two bottled solutions are mixed and activated within the machine and help eliminate stains and odors quickly and efficiently. Saying this, there is no need to premix a solution beforehand, making life a whole lot easier. They each get added to their clearly marked areas on the machine as well.
