Customers value the Vertex DuoClean PowerFin's powerful suction and ease of use, finding it particularly effective on carpets. While some find the vacuum's weight a drawback and the price a bit high, many appreciate its overall performance and the variety of attachments. The relatively small dustbin size is another point of concern for some users.

Cord broke.

So I bought this April 12, 2021 to replace my 7 or 8 year old Dyson. The vacuum ate its cord after like 3 weeks. I am busy and didn't get in to return it until May 20, 2021. However, I was unable to return or exchange because I didn't buy the extended warranty and Bust Buy has a 30 day warranty. If only I had raced to the store when it happened - but seriously who would have thought the actual warranty was only 30 days?? I will never shop here again. And I am back to using my Dyson.
FYI - when you are using this vacuum the dustbin fills up really quickly which makes you feel like it is working really well - but really, the dustbin is like 1/2 the size of my Dyson. I liked it but, it lasted under a month.

The Shark Vertex Duo Clean Power Fins Upright Vac is easily set up in minutes and I have attached a picture of the quick start guide that is printed on the top inside box top. I was very pleasantly surprised that the vacuum that I received from Shark is rose-gold colored and I find that great. So, the vacuum comes out of the box in several pieces and I had it out of the box, put together, and in use within 10 minutes top.
1. Although I have numerous cordless Shark Vacuums, this is a plug-in model and its cord is very long so as to accommodate the user for quite a while in an area. I have a large 3 story home so for me this is a necessity.
.2. My husband does clean our home and so, he has used it once since we got it a week ago. Interestingly enough, he must have enjoyed his experience with this model because he made a few comments about this new machine, totally unsolicited, which I find very positive. First, he likes where the cord is attached to, the left side on the body of the machine. Therefore, since it is placed in such a way, it does not require a hook to attach it behind while you are vacuuming. Additionally, all the controls such as the on/off and the mode-bare floor, carpeted floor, or area rug on carpet are all on the handle versus on the body of the lift away. This makes control of the machine so easy and accessible; the user does not have to hunt around, it is all right up front. Also, release of the handle so as to put on one of the 3 attachments that was sent with the machine is also right on top of the handle. This makes for one stop control in an easily accessed and seen area.
3. What I am very impressed with is that this machine has lots of suction and pulls dirt and unknow dirt out of the carpet, even though I last used a much older Shark model to vacuum. I really love that like it states, the bristles and rollers are really self-cleaning. Please look at the picture that I took of the bristles. I read that the machine breaks down pet hair, etc. and chops it up and then sucks the remaining debris into the dirt cannister for later disposal into the garbage can. That is a great feature because I have soft bristle Shark models that I have to detach the roller and literally use a scissor to cut off tightly wound human and pet hair and that is not only gross, but time consuming to first remove the roller, clean it, and then figure out how to put it back in and reassemble the compartment that it is housed in.
So, in conclusion I agree that this machine is very powerful with very good suction, light so it is easy to push and pull over your floors and sway left and right to easily cover floor space, and these "fins" do seem to keep the bristles attached to the floor surface better which then makes the dirt pick up more efficient. The dirt cannister is large so it need not have to be cleaned out constantly. However, there are 2 places that this cannister opens up-top and bottom. I only thought that there was a bottom release, and the dirt in the bottom part of the cannister easily released into the garbage can, but I noticed that there was a separate chamber up top in the cannister that stuff was not releasing from. I then discovered that there is also a release button on the top of the idrt cannister, too, and once I released that and turned the cannister upside down, that accumulated dirt easily released itself from the cannister.
Remmber to login on the Shark website and register your model since there is a 5 year limited warranty, and remember to clean the removable filter and wash it under a faucet, from time to time, as needed so that air flow can be achieved through it and maintain the integrity of the machine.

Before this vacuum came into my life, cleaning was a chore. It was a tedious, joyless task. But then, I met the Shark—and it was love at first sight.
Let's start with the obvious: the rose gold finish. I mean, seriously. This isn't just a cleaning appliance; it's a piece of pure art. It sits in the corner of my living room and I don't feel the need to hide it away. It's a statement piece, a shiny beacon of hope in a world of boring gray and black plastic vacuums.
But don't let its stunning good looks fool you. This Shark is an absolute beast. It’s got all the power you could ever need, gliding effortlessly across my floors, transitioning from hardwood to carpet without a single stutter. It grabs every bit of dust, pet hair, and crumb I throw at it, proving that beauty and brains can coexist. This is the first vacuum that has truly done everything I needed it to do, and honestly, a few things I didn't even know I needed.
If you’re looking for a vacuum that will not only get the job done but also make you feel like you've upgraded your entire life, this is it. It’s not just a vacuum; it’s an experience.

The Shark Vertex has incredible suction and picks up everything in one pass. I love the Powered Lift-Away for cleaning under furniture and the self-cleaning brushroll saves so much time. Works great on both carpet and hard floors, and the rose gold design looks sharp. Best vacuum I’ve owned — highly recommend!

I have owned 3 Shark vacuums before this one, all of them being excellent products. This Vertex DuoClean is a true upgrade. The suction power is fantastic. I have laminate, tile and area rugs in my house. I love that with a slide of the switch on the handle, I can go from one surface to another.
It sucks up cat litter, sand and fur with ease. The dual brushes help it catch everything on floor without having to repeatedly go over the same spots. To make it even better is the Power Brush attachment for getting the fur off my furniture.
My favorite features are the Self Cleaning Brush Roll ( I have long hair), Lift-Away canister to vacuum under furniture, motorized Power Brush attachment ( I have 3 cats) and longer power cord than my others.
I have loved all of my Shark vacuums. The sealed dust cup and ease of emptying, the nonstop suction, ease of cleaning out a blockage with the detachable components, always able to find replacement parts when needed and great reliability. I chose to replace my older model with eh Vertex because I wanted these new features, the older one still works great after 13 years. I highly recommend this vacuum!!

Here’s the thing, I’m not a vacuum guy. In fact, I highly dislike vacuuming. Mostly because I don’t see a whole lot of progress from the time I start to the time I finish. Previously I had to use multiple vacuums to get the job done. One for the stairs, one for the pet hair on the couch, one for hard to reach places. However, this guy changed all of that… well lets be honest, I still hate vacuuming but now it’s a lot more fun, I only have to use one vacuum making it a lot easier, less time consuming, and I can see the progress as I can see the “bag” filling up. Making my efforts not feel like they are in vain.
So, lets talk about the technology that goes into this guy for a second. It has DuoClean PowerFins which from the looks of it my previous vacuum had like a single fin that did everything. This guy has several and it sits a lot more low profile to the ground which makes it work A LOT better than my previous vacuum. Like it’s night and day better. It also has a Self-Cleaning Brush roll with Pet Hair Pickup. Honestly, I don’t know enough about vacuums to understand what that means. But I found that my Brush roll never got stuck with stuff and that it picked up all of the pet hair around my house without any issues. One of my favorite features is the Powered Lift-Away feature. Which makes my vacuum cleaner feel like a transformer. Which I think we can all get behind. In other words, before when I was talking about those hard to reach places, that you usually need a second vacuum for. Those are a thing of the past. Because you can remove the actual filter/pod that powers the vacuum so you are left with a stick that can easily go underneath things. You can also just detach that from the base of the vacuum, and you are left with a long wand that you can place attachments on to reach cobwebs, or underneath furniture. You can also just disconnect it from the top, so you have short wand to pick up pet hair on the couch or bed or the stairs or whatever. The versatility and usability of this feature alone makes it worth the price. Because previously if I wanted to get under the furniture, clean up the bed, clean up the hair from the bathroom, or vacuum the stairs I had to go grab the other vacuum. With this guy I just pop off whatever I need and go at it without having to stop which is brilliant. Up next is the Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology. It sounds impressive and I think it does a fantastic job. I found no extra dust or allergens escaping the suction or the bag. Even when I was dumping it went straight into the garbage without any troubles. Next is the LED Headlights. Not something I thought I needed but boy was I wrong. This guy lights up anything you are vacuuming which is great. Because you can really tell if you vacuumed everything up or not. Especially in dark places such as underneath cabinets or furniture. It has something called Active Glide Technology. So, this vacuum like pulls you along and with the higher settings it pulls you even harder. Kind of like a lawn mower. Which is kind of insane. Which also makes it less work on you when vacuuming. It also has a ball type swivel which makes it easy to get into whichever crevice you need along with the low-profile head. It also comes with a dusting brush, crevice tool, and self-cleaning pet power brush. I used that on my stairs and on my comforter where the dog lays and it worked like a charm. My stairs have never been cleaner, and it took up some stuff that I’ve been trying to get for ages with my pervious vacuum. Suction power is fantastic all around.
PROS:
- When you turn it on it doesn’t turn on the Powerfins. It only turns on the PowerFins once you angle the vacuum. Which is awesome. So, if I need to move something I can just place the vacuum in the upright position, it turns off the sucking power, I move the object and then go back to the vacuum, and when I put it back down it immediately starts sucking again and goes to work.
- Speaking of the Powerfins. There is an LED light on the bottom right that lights up green when rotating correctly, red when it is stuck or has something making it stick, or flashes red when it is overheating. Which I also like a lot because I’m a control freak and knowing that everything is working as intended makes me a happy man indeed.
- The transformerness of it makes me feel like I’m using an adult lego. You can take off the “bag” and empty it either from the top or the bottom. You can also see when it is full. You can have a “short” or “long” wand to reach different places. You can detach the powered motor to walk around with the different wands to get to places. You can also detach it and then you have the vacuum on a short stick to go under places. It also comes with three attachments which means you can use this vacuum for EVERYTHING. Which I love. One tool to do all jobs.
- It actually pulls you along. Literally.
- It isn’t nearly as loud as my previous vacuum.
- It works WAYYYY better than my previous vacuum. I got nearly a full Dillons/King Soopers bag of dust, pet hair, etc. from a single vacuum. That I guess was just laying there with my old vacuum. My house has never felt cleaner. This thing is powerful and takes no prisoners.
- I like that I can see into the bag and see how much stuff it is picking up.
- It’s lightweight.
- LED’s allow me to see what I am vacuuming a lot better.
- Aesthetically I think it looks great. I’m a dude and rose gold usually isn’t my jam. But it does look freaking good on this device.
- Literally everything about it. It’s a fantastic vacuum that makes vacuuming a lot less terrible. I almost look forward to doing it again. Almost.
CONS:
- I would love the cord to be like another foot longer. Maybe two. But that will vary from person to person and environment to environment. I’m just lazy and don’t like to move to different outlets.
- Sometimes when I was vacuuming a carpet that is not attached to the floor the roll LED would go red so I would have power off the vacuum and then power it back on for it to start rolling again.
- The shape of the handle could be a bit more ergonomic/comfortable. As I feel like it isn’t balanced super well which makes me have to use my muscles to get it where I want more than I feel like I should. I don’t think that made sense. So like, if something is unbalanced it requires more strength to get it into the correct place. Compared to if it were better balanced it would require less strength. Due to the handle shape I feel like I am losing strength based on the place it puts my hand.
CONCLUSION:
Look, I don’t like vacuuming. This guy makes me actually want to vacuum. Which is quite the statement. As I can see the progress that I make by seeing all the dust and debris of my house go into the bag. The bag is also detachable which means I don’t have to buy bags. It also feels like a transformer and I can use one vacuum to do everything instead of two vacuums. It works way better than my previous vacuum and my house feels way cleaner. I highly recommend it.

Excellent Vacuum - Versatile & Maneuverable

We have been using the Shark Vertex Duo Clean Engage Upright Vacuum with Powered Lift-away for several days now and have been extremely impressed with how well it cleans and how easy it is to empty.
The suction of this vacuum seems to be extremely powerful and it works well on both carpet as well as hardwood flooring.
We live in a fairly large home and so we also appreciated the length of the power cord as it reduces the number of times you need to plug the vacuum into an alternative outlet.
As an engineer myself, I would have to say that I was impressed with the build quality of this vacuum. It feels like it was engineered to last which is something I look for in products. My wife on the other hand really liked the fact that this vacuum came in Rose Gold. She said it is the first vacuum she thought was pretty.
The vacuum is also extremely versatile and maneuverable. The designers considered the tight spaces you sometimes need to vacuum, such as under tables. The lift away feature makes it also easy to use while vacuuming the stairs, something that many upright vacuum cleaners do not excel at. This is a great feature as it really means that this is the one vacuum that can do it all in our home.
In our home we also have two teenagers, a dog and two cats. As such, we're a good proving ground for vacuum cleaners. This one has really stepped up to the challenge and cleans up well after the kids and our pets.
If you're looking for a powerful vacuum cleaner that is well made and can keep up with a large home with children and pets then look no further!

This thing is amazing. I've never had a thing for vacuums but I do now. We have all tile floors, and I had stopped even thinking of vacuuming until I was interviewing a potential cleaning lady. She asked if I had a vacuum--I didn't even know if I did or not, that's how long it's been since I've used one with all tile--she said her process is to vacuum really well and then mop. She recommended Shark vacuums.
I started looking at Sharks to find one she could use when she came to clean my house. Then I started thinking--hmmm--for what she would charge, and with as easy as her routine sounded, I could do it myself.
So with my saved cleaning money of the future, I bought this vacuum, and as my title says, okay, WOW. This thing is awesome. Assembly was super easy, and if the instructions look a little confusing, there are You Tube videos you can watch. vacuumed the whole house and was stunned at the dust and chunks. It's somewhat heavy but I didn't find that a problem--it's very maneuverable. Just now, I used the detached canister and wand and cleaned in the office, and not only wow, but big wow! Lots of dust hiding in there. Don't try to use it on throw rugs because it instantly inhales them, but now I'm wondering why I have so many throw rugs anyway.
All this to say--100% happy, 100% impressed, 100% looking forward to cleaning my house (when have I ever said that!!).

This 2002 shark duo clean liftoff with no tangle PowerFins vac is awesome. Dry cat food and cat litter just disappear. The front roll grabs it and it’s gone. I had tried another new upright but was not satisfied. If the vac cannot keep up with three kitties then I don’t want it. Due to some health issues I tried to stay with a lightweight one but did not work. So I’m putting up with a bit of weight to get a machine that really does the job. And the cord length is fantastic. This vac is definitely worth a try. The duo clean and liftoff and long cord are just great. Also putting up with not having rewind which I really wanted. But this vac is worth it. I managed to see a sale at Best Buy after Christmas and grabbed one. But it works so well you won’t be disappointed at regular price. Go for it! And it practically pulls itself when you push it.

Love a Shark Vacuum!!!

This one is by far the best I've had!! I have 3 Shark vacuums and this one is amazing. Granted I still use all of them for different areas and purposes but this one is #1 best around.
Out of the box i love the rose gold color! and it was super simple to put together. It came with 3 attachments/accessories but didn't come with an accessory bag - which my other 2 did. Not a huge deal because i can put them in and consolidate bags. I love the Pet Power Brush for the stairs as I have a long haired cat who loves to lay on the steps. Amazing how much hair my smaller Shark missed that this one picked up. I'm thinking the power fins really help pick up the pet hair!!
So, the power is amazing and you really don't realize the dust in the carpeted areas until you use a Shark vacuum! I've attached pictures of all the cat hair and some of my longer hair, that I picked up with this one just from the downstairs area. Yes I know it looks gross but trust me I vacuum every week!!
The 3 different pile settings on the handle are super easy to switch while in use. I can go from high pile in the family room to tile in the kitchen area with a little push of the button. I love having the power button on the handle too. There is a light on the brushroller that is green when all is good and turns red if it gets blocked or the pile is too high for the setting. It isn't a really loud vacuum either compares to my old Hoover. The cord length is good but in my opinion it can never be long enough! There are 3 filters that need attention and the Hepa filter only needs to be cleaned 1x a year - with regular use I am guessing. The other filters say to clean monthly but again it depends on usage. I like to keep mine clean and wash every few weeks just to keep dusty odors gone. I also wipe the whole canister area after every use with a wet paper towel. I love that the cannister has an opening at the bottom and the top so you are able to push the hair/fur out that sometimes gets stuck towards the top.
Being able to release the wands and lift-away cannister with a little push of the button is really convenient as well.
Trust me - this is one amazing vacuum and you won't be sorry!!

The vacuum has a strong suction, and can take on both large to fine, and even microscopic particles such as allergens. It does come with a Hepa Filter, and two additional larger porous filter stages. Your arm doesn't get worn out from the repetitive motions. Making a turn is very easy. The attachments are very useful for small crevices, cleaning your car, between car seats, and under chairs. I can fully detach the hose, and reach in high areas. It has features that are easy to use, such as emptying your bin, or changing your filter. I have tried this on hardwood, and it works very well.

We have an older shark vaccum and its been showing its age. The hose has split and we have noticed that its suction just wasnt that great. We made repairs but still decided it was time to start looking for another vaccum. I will admit I have never been sold by the shark brand and in search of a new vacum started looking elsewhere. I kept running across this vaccum in my research and ultimately decided to give it a shot. I first vaccumed a 50 sf area with my old shark and it pulled up a decent amount of dirt etc. I vaccumed this area 5 times! I then vacummed the same area with this vaccum and was shocked. It pulled more dirt then the 1st 5 attempts with my old vaccum. It was a pleasant surprise and disgusting at the same time. I cant say this is the best vaccum on the planet but it is true this vaccum sucks in a good way. After the test I decided to keep it. It is a little heavy but not too heavy and it has worked better than any other vaccums on hardwood that i have tried. Usually vaccums just sling debris around. This sucks it right up. So far so good and my wife approved so hence the 5 star. Yes it is pricey but you get what you pay for.

I recently purchased this vacuum, and it has completely exceeded my expectations! From the moment I unboxed it, I could tell it was built to last. The suction power is incredible, easily picking up dirt, pet hair, and dust from both carpet and hard floors. I was genuinely surprised at how much debris it pulls out of areas I thought were clean! The different attachments are also super handy for tackling upholstery, stairs, and even the car. Plus, the dustbin is large and easy to empty, which is a huge time-saver. In terms of design, it’s sleek and modern. I love that it’s easy to store and doesn’t take up much space. Overall, this vacuum is a total game-changer, making cleaning so much faster and more efficient. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-tier cleaning tool! We decided it was time to replace a 15 year old Kirby because it was so heavy and it couldn’t get under the bed and was back-breaking to do the stairs. I bought this vacuum and used only two days after using the Kirby. The results were eye popping! I filled up the debris container of what looked like piles of dust upstairs! I emptied the container and did the downstairs and I filled up the container again! I’ve been vacuuming every couple of days now and finally the amount of dust ball stuff is dwindling down.
I have dust and dog allergies so to have all that dust in our floors was definitely doing me harm. My allergies have improved since getting this vacuum! It is so versatile and powerful we just love it. The best vac we have ever owned!

Hey Best Buy - can I give this vacuum 10 stars? I originally purchased the Dyson Animal 2 but after assembling it and trying it out I had to return it. I did an exchange for this Shark and the Shark WAY outperforms the Animal 2. Why is that?
1) The vacuum is way easier to assemble
2) The parts are sturdy unlike the Dyson where the parts felt like cheap plastic
3) The suction power on the Shark is fantastic. The Dyson Animal 2 has too much suction. When vacuuming carpet the Dyson would pull the carpet up and stop the roller blades. I vacuumed a carpet with the new Shark after vacuuming the Dyson and the Shark pulled up and additional canister of dog hair and dust.
4) The Shark is PHENOMENAL at pulling up dust and dog dander - even out of sofas.
5) The front of the Shark is low enough to get under cabinet doors.
6) The Shark as 4 different ways to use the vacuum between body / canister / handle, etc. Dyson ball can't get under a bed so you need the cordless Dyson to do that. This means you need 1 Shark to 2 Dyson units.
7) Power buttons and floor adjuster are on the handle. This means no bending over to adjust the height of the vacuum.
8) The attachment that has the roller as well is fantastic on furniture.
Love, love love this Shark. Very happy customer.
