My criteria for a good tv are visual, sound quality and ease of use. While I have always been a fan of Sharp electronics, this Roku experience was not anything I was used to. The navigation quality is on par with my Apple TV which is also excellent. The picture quality for a tv of this size and price is far better than expected and very simple to adjust if needed. The biggest surprize to me was the sound. It has a great range of sound with a deep bass and high treble which is important to me so I dont have the extra expense of a sound bar. For the price and ease of use. This is an excellent purchase and I highly recommend it.

Besides using this for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc. we got this TV to use with an outside antenna. We hooked it up and scanned for channels. The TV found 121 channels! Great! The problem comes when you want to select a channel (e.g. 54.3) you have to advance through EVERY channel to get there. I went back to Best Buy and their suggestion was to buy a universal remote. We did, but using all the codes for Sharp TV's the remote does everything like Power On, Power Off, Change Volume, Advance Channels, etc. but it will not change channels by entering the channel number. The TV is good, but a pain to use.

This TV was the perfect size for the cabinet we were using and for the room and the price was better than we expected. The "smart" TV functionality is fine and having Roku with it was a bonus. The only downsides were the extremely limited information in the manuals (both paper and on-line) and the limited function remote. We had to spend a fair amount of time finding how to hide cable channels that we didn't want to see as we were flipping. The remote does not have the numbers keys that allow you to go directly to a desired channel. Your only option is to flip through every channel.

We got this tv to replace an old vizio in our kids’ room. Set up was easy, I mounted it on the wall using the hardware I had from the previous tv. All you have to do is plug it in and turn it on, if it requires an update, it does it right away. It also takes you through a quick guide to help you set up and you are ready to start watching. We got rid of cable so we just stream and it was easy to set up our accounts including Netflix and Hulu which are already installed. Kids love the fact that we can download the app and they can use their phones as a remote. Pretty pleased with this purchase.

This Sharp 40 inch TV was purchased for my Mom. The price was amazing, it was for her breakfast room, so not too big. The picture is amazing and even the sound is great, no sound bar for Mom. The only problem I had was Mom has Xfinity Cable and it was not capatable with the Sharp remote. So to turn it on requires a few steps on the cable remote. I also bought an LG for her bedroom and it was capatible, so If I had to do it again, I would have bought 2 LG’s. But i did not know this and did not want to return. But again for the price, amazing pic and sound.

I bought this just before Christmas 2018. Pros. Picture is excellent. Cons. Have had problems from the first week and have the same problems 6 months later. When trying to use Netflix the TV constantly restarts itself. Very poor streaming quality and I just did a network speed test and it's at 780Mbps. The fix. I nixed the whole Roku aspect and bought a firestick. My conclusion is don't buy this Roku TV.

Easy setup. Picture is sharp and clear with excellent color. Speakers are good enough that I don’t need a sound bar. The remote is small and easy to lose, but I was able to easily download a backup remote on my IPAD which works well. Was also able to download an app on my IPAD to easily cast videos to the tv. This is the perfect tv to cut the cord with cable. I have a 46” Samsung tv that I purchased 10 years for $1100 that still has a great picture and this Sharp’s picture is as good and its speakers are better than the Samsung.

Picture is excellent, as is ease of setup. Roku is a bonus. Plenty of inputs. Sound is occasionally uneven and like takes a second to adjust itself when certain shows or commercials come on. It's not unbearable or a deal breaker or making this purchase regrettable, it just simply shouldn't be, I expected more out of a well known & trusted brand like SHARP. Would still recommend as it ain't too bad. That it was on sale at $200 and a high rated brand with 1080p & Roku helps make up for it's fairly minor sound issue.

This Sharp ( HiSense) Roku set fits my display area perfectly. It was simple to set up. The image is great and the viewing is much improved over my previous 32" screen. I am disappointed with the Roku remote and the fact that Charter Spectrum remote works only some of the functions. So to turn on along with cable box; I need to use 2 remotes. Other than the remote issue I am pleased with the set and the very competitive price . The remote becomes less a problem as I continue to stream more and need cable TV less.

Let me start by saying that i got this 40" Sharp 1080p Roku tv for about $165 on a weekend event deal and i didn't hesitated to but it. I wanted a tv not bigger than a 40" but also not too expensive since i wanted for my 5 year old daughter to watch youtube kids and Netflix and this smart 1080p Roku tv is the real deal. The picture is really good compared to other more expensive tvs. The sound does needs a little of improvement but for this price, this Sharp tv does not disappoints and that's for sure.

We had a tube t.v. before this purchase, and everyone is quite pleased with this upgrade. I did not really understand before all of the options and stuff you get on the Roku t.v. It is great. You can watch shows and movies for free on tubitv, and you can put other apps on it, some cost money though. Before we had Netflix, but to watch it had to go through the Wii, now it is right on the t.v. and even has a button on the remote. The dark scenes are easier to see on this t.v. then the old one. Overall good buy.

Lightweight, great picture, just the right size for a bedroom. Now the bad---there are no buttons on the TV to operate it, and the remote (looks like a Roku remote) doesn't work half the time. Changed batteries, same issue. Synced another Roku remote to the TV and it works fine (but can't keep that remote in the bedroom because the Sharp/Roku remote has no sync button to sync to another TV). So the remote is junk and there's nothing I can do about it. Best Buy won't take the TV back and won't call back, so I guess I am stuck with it.

Got this for my 16 yr old bdrm, Fits perfectly over her door with our 9ft ceilings. Great price for a nice size, smart TV, We paid $150 on sale. She loves it! The picture quality is more than fine for a bdrm and she loves all the features. Some of her favorite features.....She can air play photos and videos from her phone to her tv. She can use her phone as her tv remote with the Roku app. And she can play her spotify music playlist on her tv! Also she said the audio quality is really good. Very happy with this purchase!

Loved it... for the first six weeks. Then turn it on and nothing. The display brightens slightly when you turn it on, it makes the Roku sounds when you press the buttons on the remote, but no picture. Shut it all the way down with the button, no dice. Unplugged it and plugged it back in, nothing. Called Best Buy, they said call Sharp. It's junk. Save your money and buy a real TV, and buy it from someplace that supports what they sell.

Bought it for our bedroom and I absolutely love it. I have smart TV in my living room that’s way larger and it still doesn’t work as well. It connects better to the internet without issues, even though the modem is on the opposite side of the house. Has quite a few Apps/Channels to chose from. The one issue it has is that sometimes the phone app doesn’t not work as well as it should connecting to the TV for the private listening.

Overall a piece of junk. Power cord is not removable so my extra long replacement is useless so i had to run an unappealing extension cord to plug the mounted TV in. After that annoyance the TV broke right outside the return window. The audio cut in and out from day one but i thought a firmware update might fix it and didn’t act soon enough. Totally cut out today (one day outside the return window). Don’t waste your money, even at this price it’s not worth it.

purchased this because the sale price was too low to pass up. I was pleasantly surprised by the great picture quality and ROKU interface. No tuning or adjustment was necessary to dial it in. It also seems to have the smallest width for this size screen, which was very important for my intended placement. I have purchased 2 other low/mid level brand smart 1080p TVs in 40-43" size in past 2 years , and the Sharp has the best picture quality, despite its lower (by about $100) cost

This was our second attempt to bring my mother into the modern age, replacing her big console tv with a sleek new flat screen. Set up was easy, and it is easy for her to switch between her regular cable TV and Netflix and Amazon. The picture is bright and clear. I took a star off for the sound, which is much softer on Netflix, and not that rich or powerful in any setting. I would certainly purchase this again though. The picture is great and it fits on her shelf.

Great TV but comes with a learning curve

This is the first HDTV we have bought and took a risk and got it on a Black Friday sale. There was a bit of a curve in learning the system and a struggle to get the Roku Home Screen to not pop up when you started the TV and force it to start up using one of the HDMI connection. Finally found it after a search for a full user guide, which didn't come with the TV. Otherwise, it works for us and would recommend it to anyone.

Purchased TV on sale for my kid’s bedroom. Wasn’t looking for a high quality set and this does the job. The built-in Roku is easy to use and a nice feature and I’ve streamed some HD shows and picture quality is good for most viewers. I wouldn’t make this set the centerpiece of any high end entertainment system, but contrasts are decent with nice deep blacks and bright whites. Game of Thrones looks good on this set.
