Great TV and value for what it is

Picked this up on sale for $179.99 for a bedroom tv. This TV is solid for what you pay for. If you are expecting this to compare to a $600-$1000 tv then you have unrealistic expectations. My main purpose of this TV was to have in the bedroom to watch at night and use the Roku app to stream the Spectrum app so I could get rid of the bedroom cable box and save $10/month on my cable bill without giving up any convenience. The Roku app is extreamly easy and having 1 remote to run everything instead of a remote for the tv and another for the cable box is so convenient. The quality of the streaming app is better then the cable box.
If you’re buying this TV and expecting superior quality for movies and gaming you’re being unrealistic. This may not be the best TV for viewing full time for all your movies, tv, and gaming needs in your main room, but this is the PERFECT 2nd tv for the bedroom to watch at night. The features you get with this tv at this size for this price is hard to come by. I’m usually a Sony or LG person for TV’s and probably would not spend thousands on a Sharp, but you cannot beat the quality and value for this Sharp 40 inch Roku. If you have any concerns of buying it, don’t. You will not be disappointed.

Impressed with our 2nd SHARP on board.

Moved the 32" SHARP to the rear bedroom. Purchased the 40" SHARP for the front living room in our 42' motor home on Thanksgiving Day 2018. Had a few issues when editing channels. The unit would lock up and then repeat start up. I called Sharp and Adam walked me through a complete restart and set up. He is such a pro at what he does. NO more problems and the TV is just as I had hoped. It is a SHARP and I am very happy with the help I received over the phone. I purchased the extended 5 year warranty on both. I have a feeling I won't need them though. Best Buy is really living up to their name. The 32" SHARP is on it's 3rd year with flawless operation and I am very confident that the 40" SHARP will also be a BEST BUY. Other brands are out there, but the quality and price sold me on SHARP.

Great TV for data streaming

I dropped cable to go to internet data streaming because of the cable cost., now I just pay for the internet connection. I was not familiar with streaming but this TV has many types of connections, a great APP interface (ROKU?) , and great picture. It was easy to set up. I have limited experience but if you are dropping cable and going to internet streaming this is the TV to get. (I also attached an antenna and get 45 TV channels.)

Decent TV for the Money.

Overall it's a good TV, beautiful picture, decent sound quality. It is abit slow to respond to remote input sometimes. Slow response can be notice very heavily when using Netflix, or Disney+. Not sure if those apps are just crap, or if it's the TV just doesn't like those apps and is slow opening them, and using them. It's been sluggish with those two apps/channels from day one, so again not sure if it's the TV or the apps themselves.
Have had the TV almost 4yrs and it's been a good one aside from the afore mentioned issues with some of the streaming apps. It has however started to have some issues on it's own with randomly turning itself off and on again, ie rebooting on occasion for no apparent reason. Just started doing that in the last 6-8 months.

Great picture quality, Roku is intrusive

The picture quality on this tv is superb and the price is very affordable for what you get. Great that it has 3 hdmi ports but wish it had more older ports for legacy video game systems. The Rolu activation is highly intrusive and in fact did not work the first several attempts. In fact it is so buggy I decided not to use it and am fine with my “smart” tv features coming through the PS4 instead.

Great TV

I'm an LG/Samsung fan, however I have no complaints about the picture. Great little bedroom tv. We already had Roku in the house and that made the decision easier since we're already familiar with Roku. We just watch local channels on Hulu. The remote is simple to use and I like the location for volume and mute.
The only problem I have is that the remote could have an input or source button with numbers/and letters for txt or search options. Not a deal breaker tho.

Inconsistent Picture Quality
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I wanted a new TV in time for Game of Thrones’ season premiere and was blown away by how great the Sharp 40" Roku TV's images looked on HBO/GOT, but when I explored non-premium HD channels I was disappointed to find inconsistent picture quality. Images were bright but lacked depth. Onscreen faces looked like flat photos or were mottled.
I am currently trying to figure how to improve picture quality in Settings for HDMI source. The quality of the streaming content depends on quality of original source (especially YouTube) but I naturally expected consistent quality from my DirecTV HD channels. (My go-to test is to look at separations in strands of hair.) My 10-yr-old 720p Sylvania had consistent, crisper images and realistic 20watt (10w x 2) sound. I guess new tech has its advantages but old tech was solid and more dependable.
I'm not an expert, but there must be a reason for the fluctuating image quality. (Different tech, I guess...or did Sharp get bought out - making it "Sharp" in name only? I've seen internet rumors.) The remote is a bit sluggish but I’ve gotten use to its temperament. I must decide in a few days if I want to keep it as a “value-based purchase” for a second bedroom TV, or exchange this Sharp for a Samsung TV.

Great Roku TV

This is the first time I have purchased a Sharp smart TV and I am pretty much impressed with the clarity, graphics and sound quality of it. I purchased it on black friday sale which was a bang on offer for a 40 inch television. There are reviews about it working only with the Roku Bluetooth speakers but I think the sound quality is pretty decent for a normal viewing

I bought this for my son's room first(for his PS4) and seen it wasn't horrible and bought another for our room. The only real complaint I have it's Heavy in Chroma meaning to much color. I'm a working professional in the TV production field for 32yrs and I know this isn't one we use at work, still with that being said I had to turn the color way down to get close to true flesh tones. It's heavy on the Red,Blue side, just too rich in color"RGB". It's like buying a speaker and its over loaded on the bass or treble just not "Flat" and adjustable from there
If you catch it on sale like I did don't hesitate to get one
for the price can not beat it, came w/Roku built in, light weight and again seems decent time will really tell.

Purchased 12/26/18; died 9/9/19

It was an ok TV; the picture was decent but the volume was not great. I say 'was' because less than 9 months after we bought the unit it is now dead. I give it two stars because it was ok while it lasted but it didn't last long.
We used this TV sparingly; sometimes not for weeks at a time and today 9/9/19 it would not turn on. We had no power surge or other electrical issues; all other things in the house are working fine and no circuits tripped in the house. We did all the resets etc and it still will not turn on. I called Sharp and they want me to bring it back to Best Buy so they can determine if it will be fixed or if we will get a brand new (same model) TV. When I asked about the warranty for the new unit, given this one only lasted 9 months under light use, they said that even though we may get a brand new unit the warranty for that unit will be up on 12/26/19 because the warranty is connected to the first TV we purchased and 12/26/19 is 12 months from the initial purchase date. They said they will not offer 12 months on the new unit. So, needless to say not overly impressed. We have an LG and Samsung from Best Buy that have been working fine for a few years now and this Sharp didn't even last 9 months. In the future we will look to LG/Samsung for longevity; no more Sharp products.

Picture is excellent, as is ease of setup. Roku is a bonus. Plenty of inputs. Sound is occasionally uneven and like takes a second to adjust itself when certain shows or commercials come on. It's not unbearable or a deal breaker or making this purchase regrettable, it just simply shouldn't be, I expected more out of a well known & trusted brand like SHARP. Would still recommend as it ain't too bad. That it was on sale at $200 and a high rated brand with 1080p & Roku helps make up for it's fairly minor sound issue.

I have been VERY impressed with this TV! I bought one for my son's bedroom not really expecting much, but I was completely wrong. The TV comes with lots of extras specifically for kids, the screen quality is very good and so is the sound. I just bought my second one for my daughter's room and next I plan to buy one for mine. For the price you get a lot! I would highly recommend this TV!
