Excellent TV for the Money

So far this TV is the right price, the right size and the Roku is a bonus. WIFI connects fast, Roku works flawlessly and the TV unlike many has excellent sound. I do have a JBL sound bar but the TV's audio is definitely respectable. The Picture and color quality are very good as well. I will update as time progresses but my initial review makes this a must buy for the value. FYI I had spent $598 on a 50" LG and it broke 1 and a half yrs out, it was repaired by LG and broke again just under 2 and half yrs out, I didn't even get 4 full years of service out of the piece of junk. I was told by a technician that most all TV's now will only last 3 to 5 years. I look at it this way if I get $100 a year out of a TV i am good with that. I bought the Sharp 43" for $249 and a 5 yr service contract from best buy for $49 so I have just under $300 invested with basically a guarantee for at least a 5 year life span, which to me is an excellent deal.

I purchased this tv because of what I thought was a good value. Unfortunately, I had to return two of them because the sound would mute for a second or two at random moments. Decided to go with another brand and have not had any issues.

Purchase this on CyberMonday for near 40% off. TV picture very good with built in Roku made it very easy to connect. Plenty of inputs and settings that you would not get with a standard TV. Remote is Roku only but not too hard to adjust settings when needed. Also comes with wall mounting screens already attached. Overall a good value when on sale since the price and performance is superior to no name sets and quality is as good as name brand sets. Well packaged and protected in the heavy duty box. Does have gaming settings for lag, but I have not tested that function.

Very good Roku TV

I picked it up yesterday and although have not used it too much, I can still say that this is a pretty good TV for its price. The setup is very easy and the TV's Roku OS setup was also quite quick.
Although the Roku apps for HBO NOW and Amazon themselves are a bit weird to use and not very intuitive and lag a little. I was disappointed with the Spotify app since it needs a premium account and can't be used otherwise. I am used to using them on the XBOX and they much more fluid and responsive on it.
I was also able to setup both Xbox and the cable set-top box very easily on the HDMI inputs. and it recognizes the input immediately. Although in the cable input, the picture that i was getting was 4:3 instead of 16:9. I am not sure why that is. (If someone can help in this regard it'd be great)
The search function on Roku is very good. The picture quality of the TV is excellent and sound is quite decent. I have put it in my bedroom and don't need to turn it up beyond 25-30%.
I will continue to update this review over the next few days as I keep using it.

Great Smart / Roku TV

I purchased this TV as a result of Spectrum moving to all digital and requiring a cable box or the use of an app, like the Roku Spectrum app, to watch TV. In my home office my old TV had a Roku stick, but it was slow to boot and cumbersome for what I wanted so I used this as a reason to upgrade. This TV is great. It boots quickly and has a great picture. Setup is very easy - just follow the prompts and you're ready in a few minutes. For Spectrum cable customers, you will need to have a Spectrum account, so having that setup in advance makes it a little quicker if this is your first time using the Roku app. Overall great sound from the built-in speakers. I am very pleased with this TV and recommend it.

We just purchased this tv for my guest room/ den. It is a great size for a bedroom. It has a vibrant picture with great contrast and great sound. It is easy to set up. The remote on the tv is simple and intuitive. I have never liked a remote better. You can stop, start, rewind and fast forward easily. TV connects easily with ipad/ phone via Bluetooth. You can play youtube in the background on your ipad while browsing your ipad on other apps. ( This only works with YouTube red.) Setting up the channels is easy. It is a great value for the price.

This is the worst purchase I have ever made. It won't stay on, it won't stay connected to the internet. It takes forever to come on. I will never buy another one. I have had to research the internet several times to figure out how to make things work and they work for a day or two before they quit again.

I've had this TV for less than a month and its already messing up. It's lagging quite a bit which is weird cause I've never had a TV that lagged. When I turn it on it takes like 5 minutes to come on. I go to Hulu it takes a bit for it register that I clicked on Hulu. When I keep trying to call best buy they never answer. It's ridiculous.

When we attempted to connect the television, we were surprised to discover that the setup requires the user to establish a Roku account (which we did not want, nor were aware when we purchased). We have escalated our concern to Best Buy; the representative was very responsive and offered to exchange the TV for another one.

Bought this TV online and did in-store Pick Up. Pricing was great. It was easy and I am very happy with the TV. Picture is great, and navigating through the options is simple. 43" TV size is also perfect for me. Not too big, not too small. Love the Roku component. It was easy to set up and made my TV so much more diverse, as far as offerings. Now I can access my cable box and all of my current accounts such as Amazon, HBO, Netflix, etc, through my TV

This is my second Roku flat screen TV.
I loved my first purchase so much I bought another one, but I wanted the Sharp this time, and I assumed this model would have the same features my older 48" TCL has, but two are missing. I prefer to plug in with ethernet when possible, instead of using Wi-Fi, but this model has no ethernet port, so buyers need to be aware of this. If you don't have a wireless modem or router, you won't be able to use the smart features.
The second feature that's missing from the 43" Sharp model is screen mirroring, which I often use and enjoy. Luckily I also purchased the Sony BDP S6700 Streaming Wi-Fi Blu-ray player which has both the ethernet port and screen mirroring, so only because of an additional $120 purchase, I have everything I need. The need for a second device to have those additional features is the reason for a 4 star review instead of 5 stars, because this television is otherwise, Awesome, especially for the money. I bought mine on sale, and the price I paid was what the Roku site indicates is the actual retail price, and that's fine because it's quite reasonable for what you're getting.
I considered paying an extra $150 for the TCL 4K but it isn't stocked at my stores so it would have to be shipped, and reviews indicate they have issues and lock up. Since I don't think many will be broadcasting or streaming in Ultra HD, and existing components might upscale to 4K at best, why spend more for a TV for the bedroom when this HD picture is great?
The Sharp has a much better picture than my TCL and although the listed motion rate is the same, there is truly no comparison!
With the exception of the two missing features, I like, this Sharp 43" Roku TV is outstanding, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

The worst TV i have ever had, I have only had this Sharp TV for barely 30 days before it starts giving issues. The Geek squad had checked it out twice, changed the main board and speakers, yet the problem of cutting off volume is still not resolved.

The first of these I brought home would not stay connected to my WiFi. I thought it might (emphasis on "might")be the strength / positioning of my router, but didn't really believe this. (I have a WiFi analyzer app on my phone which showed a good signal.) I figured I'd work further to optimize WiFi connection.
Also, I noticed a physical manufacturing defect, a small line of what looked like some white adhesive, on the screen. This defect pushed me to get a new TV within the exchange period.
When I got the replacement unit home, not only was the screen free of physical defects, but new unit connected perfectly and reliably to my WiFi, proving that the failure of the original TV to do this was also a manufacturing defect.
If you get / have one of these Sharp smart TVs (or, I suppose, any other brand), and it doesn't connect and stay connected to WiFi that works fine with other devices (or shows a string signal on an analyzer app), you should consider and act on the possibility that the problem is the TV, not your WiFi.
Besides the above, with no WiFi problem, it is a very nice (possibly great) 43" smart TV for the money - nice picture quality and reasonable sound.
I'd like more inputs - HDMI ports (only 3 here), component video (not just composite), VGA computer input. Also my last Sharp TV remembered volume settings per input so I didn't have to re-adjust volume each time I switched input, still this 43" TV was a great value at $250..

This TV was easy to set up and looks great. It works well with all our devices (computer, Blu-Ray, Wii U) and the built-in apps work great. The apps are not too slow or laggy and it's easy enough that visiting family or friends could use it. The picture is sharp (ha!) and I don't notice any distinct motion blur. Highly recommended if you're looking for a great 43" TV on any budget.

Clarity is key, and is "KEY". Remote is ok, I think all remotes should have the same features in the same place to make it easy to go from room to room. We have Directv, so we have to turn the TV on and than switch it to Directv. Other than that it is good.

This is not a bad TV. Picture quality is pretty good for this price range, but the Roku SmartTV processor is sooooo slow, literally the worst performance I've encountered on any streaming device. I've had many Roku devices over the past decade, and this Sharp TV's Roku interface is even slower than the 1st generation Roku. Fast-forward to 2016 (the year this TV was first produced), and the standard Roku boxes are many times faster than the performance of this TV. It's adequate if you are needing a Roku TV, but you're seriously better off just getting a separate Roku device and streaming it through this TV instead. It is that slow. And the Roku built into this TV--like other Roku devices--wants an SD card for storage badly, but sadly this TV does not support it. So if you ever watch more than just a handful of Roku channels, you will be waiting often for the channel to re-download.
As far as the speakers go, as with most modern TVs, the speakers on this TV are tiny and sound terrible, with no bass quality whatsoever. Reading through these reviews I'm a little surprised so many people are using these speakers at all. Just don't. They are horrible. Get a sound bar or something. Anything.
One positive is the TV has 3 separate HDMI inputs, which is hard to come by these days, and (contrary to some of the reviews), the TV does allow you to specify one of those inputs to auto-start, so you do not have to start with the Roku screen every time. This is very helpful if you use the TV as a monitor for video game consoles, a computer, cable, or satellite.
