Good picture, fast refresh rate makes for a good picture and use for video games on xbox. Easy to setup and use. Good luck finding a better TV for the money.

Purchased this TV on the Black Friday sale. Really impressed with the ease of setup and not to mention super lightweight. Nice upgrade from the 46" 720p Plasma I was using for the last several years. If I had to give one complaint about the TV it is the Motion Enhancement setting. Yes this makes shows and movies appear much clearer but sometimes in fast action it doesn't keep up well and tends to skip frames. Even with the feature disabled it still has a superb picture. Would highly recommend for the value not to mention the brand name.

A Better Than Average TV For Sure

When I went shopping for a new TV, aside from a few bells and whistles which I'll cover later, there were only a few specific brands that I would even consider purchasing a unit from. Those brands were Sony, Samsung, LG, and Sharp. Best Buy had run an add for a larger Sharp Aquos TV that I was considering buying as it had gone on sale the week I bought this set. While on the sales floor, I spied a floor display for this unit and looked at the differences between the two sets. My wish list for bells and whistles wasn't very long. I just wanted a set that was 1080p, had 120Hz or higher refresh rate, and had more than 2 HDMI ports in the back. I was holding out for 4 HDMI but relented on this unit which only has 3. More on the ports in a minute. The picture itself is nice. I had previously owned a 60" TV so it was a little jarring for me to go down to a 50" but as far as gaming and movie watching go, I have seemed to adjusted. I've played all of the last gen systems on this TV (XB360, PS3, and WiiU) and they all look great. I've yet to notice and slowdown or motion blur while I'm gaming but to be fair, I don't use my consoles nearly as much as I should. I did notice some slowness in the picture when I hooked up my PC to the TV through the HDMI port. I had wanted to see a CGI cinematic in 120Hz and that's when I noticed it chugged a bit. That was a little disappointing and a contributing factor to only being a 4-star review. On the back of the set there are 3 HDMI in as mentioned previously, VGA in, and Component Video In which can also accept Composite Video. This is probably the most aggravating part of the TV for me because on the more expensive Aquos I was going to buy, I got a good look at the back of the unit and fell in love with the ports arrangement/setup. I (wrongly) assumed that this smaller unit would look much the same port layout as it's bigger brother but that wasn't the case at all and it gave me a bit of buyer's remorse once it was out of the box. In the end I sucked it up and decided to keep the unit rather than going back and paying $300 more for the set I had originally planned to buy. The biggest reason is that the unit does the job I need it to and I don't use/watch TV nearly enough to let it bother me. The only really bad thing about this set was that I saw it pop up on the Best Buy Deal of the Day while I was on vacation the following week after buying mine and it was $150 cheaper than what I paid. Oops! =\ The unit itself is simple and straightforward looking. It certainly won't be a conversation piece in terms of technical prowess but it also won't disappoint you and your friends if you happen to be watching the game on it. The only true knock I have was for the handheld remote. It looks incredibly cheap and generic and looks like something you'd buy as a cheap replacement remote. While it is effective, I can't get past how flimsy and cheap it feels. I've bought universal remotes for older TVs that have looked and felt more nice than this thing. Long story short...this is a good purchase for a lower-middle of the road TV buyer. It's not a SmartTV so you won't get all the nonsense that goes along with that (which may not be a bad thing really). If you own a lot of game consoles/HDMI devices and you want them all hooked up, you'll have to invest in some multi-port HDMI adapters. I also wish the PC connection to the unit was DV-I instead of VGA. The sound is good but invest in a soundbar. Overall grade for this TV: B For all of the shortcomings I've mentioned though I would definitely recommend this unit over anything that Element, Insignia or Vizio make.

I went back and exchanged it for the 50" inch! Has a nice picture and is easy to setup. I ran some RCA plugs from my cable box to an old analog stereo receiver and the sound is like being in a theater. 50" is perfect for my small living room. A good buy for the price!

Only one con: Would give it 5 stars if the 120Hz refresh rate were implemented in a way that removed motion blur better. Don't get me wrong, it is not always bad, just noticeable from time to time. Adjusting the settings does not do much to change things. I do find that some broadcasts have more blur than others. I watch football and the football blurs one time and then not the next. Now the pros: The picture is great-vivid and lifelike out of the box. Really hard to find defects with the images on screen if you have good source material. Most people will be happy with the picture settings at default. Many images on screen have a slight 3D effect even though the TV is not a 3D set. Using 3D glasses that have a dark right eye and light or clear left eye enhance the 3D effect-I will have to experiment more with this later--interesting. The image degrades very little when sitting at an angle to the TV-it has a wide field of view. The sound quality is way better than most LED TV sets. Most viewers will be happy with the sound without a sound bar or surround system. The stand is easy to attach with 4 screws. Be sure to tighten them all the way without stripping out the threaded holes. Can be wall mounted as well. I started to buy a 4K set for quadruple the price but decided to not spend the extra money. This set (my third SHARP) is almost as good for much less. Overall a very good choice for the money.

Love this sharp item. The picture is awesome and the refresh rate keeps my friend happy. She has no complaints and spends a lot of time watching. I purchased this tv for my friend since she is disabled and confined to her home. She is picky and has no problem letting me know when she isn't satisfied. I thank the Best buy manager for his part in helping my friend purchase this tv. He was helpful beyond expectation to say the least. My friend and I are satisfied and grateful for sure. Thank you Best buy. And yes I returned to another Best buy a week later to purchase a TV for myself after the exceptional treatment I received from the staff I had encountered the previous week. Thanks again.

Great Picture - Sound Not So Great

I do like and am enjoying this 50" Sharp TV. I'm still working on the quality of the picture, but I have it set to my satisfaction for most of what I and my son watch. Set correctly, the picture is outstanding. Basic setup was easy. I really like the small bezel. I was concerned that a larger TV would take up a too much space, but with the narrow bezel, it fits perfectly. I only gave it 4 stars because of the sound. I don't understand why flat screen TV's (at least this one and my previous LG) put speakers on the bottom, facing down. I find that with almost everything I watch, I have to turn the volume up very high, sometimes to its max, which in some cases is still not enough volume - especially for voices. It's beyond annoying. I don't know anything about soundbars, but I am going to have to do some research and buy one or I'm never going to truly enjoy this TV. I recommend this Sharp 50" TV with the caveat "if you want to be able to clearly hear voices and other subtle sounds, be prepared to purchase either an A/V system or a soundbar".

For what we paid this tv does it alll. 50 inches for the game room after kids broke the 47 inch. I love the 120 refresh rate...so much better than 60hz. Only thing I hate is the stand. It's a rectangle that is "open". About and inch thick around and whole center is open exppising the base of the credenza. Otherwise great tv

The quality of the TV is good...picture is clear and sharp in full HD, have only occasionally noticed some issues with the motion blur but I'm almost certain it had something to do with the channel I was watching at the time, since it stopped when I went to another channel. My only complaint is that I wish the TV base wasn't so cheap and plastic. It seems like it would not take much to break it and it would not take much to tip the TV over. Other than that I think its a great TV for the low price.

Was shopping to replace my Samsung 46" LED that smoked it's board. The location in my living room will not tolerate anything larger than 50" without looking like the monolith in 2001 A Space Odyssey. When I saw the Sharp I was surprised by the picture. The refresh rate really makes a difference in picture quality, especially during action and sports motion. Even old movies from the 50s and 60s take on a depth of field that looks akin to live tv. Took a little while to get used to. Features are plentiful. The reason for only 4 stars is the sound is not as full compared to the Samsung or a few other brands and sound adjustments are not as plentiful...but a low cost sound bar fixes that very well. On sale...it beat the other brands by far.

Not long ago, I would have said that I'd never buy Sharp. In googling one day trying to understand HRZ and some of the other terms used I stumbled across info explaining the different names used and that Smart was the most honest. They also went on to explain the Sharp was a "Green" company--cared for Mother Earth. This TV was the size that I wanted, so I went down to Best Buy and bought the last one in a box. They loaded it me vehicle and I brought it home. I was able to carry it down stairs to my family room by self. I'm 83 years old. It took me a while to set it up. A large part of the time was sorting out my wires for VCR, VDR , antenna etc, etc. Yes, I use just an antenna = a large outside one, but placed up inside my attic. Even though the building is stucco and the roof is tile, I get good reception. So far a little over a month, I am very satisfied with the TV. The reason for docking one star to four is because they don't furnish a manual. You have to print off a rather many page one if you want it.

50 " Sharp LED hdtv for 400 bucks! I could not pass on the deal. Our 42 " broke down and we looked at other 42 " but they were about the same price or more for this 50". Picture is great, good sound, it's not a smart tv but we didn't need that in this room. Easy setup and plug it in and away it goes! Light weight, I was able to put it on the wall with the help of my wife very easily.

I was looking to upgrade the television my kids use in their gaming area and went with this model because it had the best picture in the price range and I have good history with the brand. I have no complaints with the picture but I was VERY DISAPPOINTED to learn that the connection options were so limited. I needed to hook up a Wii, Xbox, and Blu-ray player and was surprised to learn that the TV did not have a standard video input. 3 hdmi connections + 1 component video are the only options. Clearly I should have done more research prior to the purchase but it was still surprising. I wound up having to run everything through a receiver for it to work. The television itself is fine and fits the space perfectly. Great picture quality for the price and the internal speakers exceeded expectations. The two leg stand configuration is sturdy. I am satisfied with the purchase.
