Pure disappointment
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1. A brand new TV should not fade to black a month after the purchased warranty. I bought a sharp TV trusting the brand name and the geek squad 2 year protection. Now I cant even get them to pick up the phone. I will avoid sharp and geek squad and best buy as a whole.going forward. This way I wont be subject to wasting hard earned money

Arrived DESTROYED
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My tv arrived damaged. The screen was shattered, missing parts, missing remote, and broken frame. The item was so poorly packed and put into a box that was for a 60 inch tv NOT a 50 inch. The item was supposed to be in excellent condition... absolute garbage. It's not even worth transporting anymore and customer service was not helpful at all.

It's a gamble I guess
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read the reviews, and of course they were "Worst tv ever" followed by "I love this tv best ever" and continued that way (loved it, hated it, loved it etc) I determined it's pretty much a role of the dice if u get a lemon or a decent tv, well, I seem to have gotten a bad one, it started getting lines on the screen within the first 24 hours, I gathered by looking at other sharp tv reviews that they aren't real good, seems like you'd have better luck with an LG or vizio, I opted for the 55" westinghouse (non-smart tv) it was bigger and just a few bucks more & have been satisfied with this tv for the past 2 weeks.

Great Smart TV with above average picture
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for three things in a TV when I bought this one: 1) Price (preferable <$450); 2) size (preferably 50" or more); and good picture quality. Now, the first two criteria really limited my options but luckily this TV happened to tick all three perfectly. The cherry on top is that it has Roku baked-in, so you're essentially saving however much by not having to buy the top of the line Roku (~$100; I say top of the line, because the menus here super snappy). First, about the operation, since I assume most people who are shopping in this price range are not videophiles champing at the bit to hear about how awesome whatever aspect of the picture is. If you know anything about cars or TVs, you might notice that manufacturer built-in tech (navigation/smart phone integration in cars; smart TV apps on TVs) is almost universally terrible. It's fairly common knowledge that Roku is one of the best standalone streaming devices out there and it is unquestionable the most universally supported (Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Chromecast, all are lacking in on or more of the major streaming services). If you're familiar with Roku, this TV is essentially run through the Roku home screen and this appears when you first power up. What's pretty cool is that all inputs (antenna, Blu-Ray, Playstation, etc) are added as "Apps" at the top of the home screen and they each show a little preview box if you hover over them. Switching inputs is quick, and if you're a true cable-cutter like me, the TV tuner works well and gives you nice info on each channel. You can even plug in a thumb drive and record up to 90 minutes of live TV so that you can FF and RW like a DVR. Setup is a breeze and all the streaming works exactly as a normal Roku would. 5/5 Picture quality is 1080p with a 60 Hz refresh rate, which feels/sounds a little dated at this point, but really there isn't a lot of 4K content available yet, so I don't feel bad about foregoing a 4K TV right now. Coming from an older LG 1080p set, the picture quality seems more than good, even very good I would say. Sharp is a known and trusted display manufacturer, so I felt good about how it would perform when I bought it. One nice feature is that there are multiple brightness settings that are easily accessible in the settings menu. This helps a lot in rooms that receive variable light throughout the day. 4/5 Sound is acceptable, though no modern LED LCD with built-in speakers is going to wow anyone. But it does fill a room sufficiently. 3.5/5 Design is very good IMO for a TV this inexpensive. The bezel is uniform and very narrow all around (0.5") and the gloss black looks very sleek. Looks great on my wall. Only gripe is that the ugly tab that hangs down just for the Sharp logo kills the otherwise-minimalist design. 5/5 Value is the real kicker here. I happened to grab this one when it was listed for the same price as the 43", and it went back up $100 the next day. I think the TV is still a good deal at MSRP, though, considering the package. 5/5 Overall, the only real competitor for me was the Vizeo e-series sets, and they cost more and didn't have a digital tuner built-in (huge no-no for cable cutters), though they are 4K. I figure I'll ride this set for the next 5-6 years until 4k becomes mainstream and worth the premium, but really on a 50" set at 10' viewing distance you're not going to be able to tell the difference anyway. Would recommend this TV 100 times over.

Excellent TV, amazing picture, superb sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was lucky and got this TV on pre-Black Friday deal and price was really good. I had 40" Samsung LED TV that went dead a couple of days before Black Friday -, right on time, lol. I was forced to get a TV and I was looking at the cheapest one possible without sacrificing the quality. I found this deal and I couldn't wait so I ordered the night before Black Friday, and picked up the next day on Black Friday day. The pickup process was a breeze, took me 10-15 min total. The pickup time mostly was waiting for the rep to check the storage for my TV. The old TV I had, as I mentioned before, was Samsung 40” LED TV Model UN40EH5300. I got it back on Black Friday 2013. It was okay at that time, pic was acceptable as I always thought every pic, regardless the Input I had on, was grainy until I did HD calibration using AVS-HD-709. Looking at the dates the Samsung TV lasted almost 3 years. This Sharp 50” LED FHD TV Model: LC-50LB481U I got is the best entry level 1080 FHD TV I have ever seen. Picture is AMAZING out of the box in all inputs, HDMI, antenna, or even the build-in Roku apps. Sound from the built-in speakers and with default settings is superb, no need to any tweaking or adjustment. Using the TV speakers alone is more than enough, but I mounted the Vizio soundbar that I already have at the top of the TV using universal mounting brackets. The sound now is, I really cannot describe the awesomeness that are coming out. I connected my soundbar to TV via HDMI-1 (ARC). I had troubles setting up Audio via HDMI-ARC, since the TV set DID NOT come with any standard TV instructions manual, just a quick startup guide. I did most of the configurations after searching online. Digital audio using the HDMI 1/ARC jack: Your TV can send sound to an ARC device, like an AV receiver, to create a home theater that uses two or more speakers. When you connect external speakers or a sound bar, sound plays through your TV speakers and the external speakers or sound bar. 1- Make sure that your TV’s power cord is unplugged and the digital speaker system or sound bar is turned off. 2- Connect an HDMI cable (not provided) to the HDMI 1/ARC jack on the back of your TV and to the HDMI IN jack on the digital speaker system or sound bar. 3- Plug your TV’s power cord into a power outlet, then turn on your TV. 4- Turn on the digital speaker system or sound bar, then set it to the correct source. For more information, see the documentation that came with the digital speaker system or sound bar. 5- To turn off your TV speakers, on the Home menu, scroll up / down to highlight Settings, then press OK. Highlight Audio, then press OK. Highlight TV speakers, then press OK. Press OK to remove the check from the TV speakers enabled check box. 6- To configure the HDMI 1/ARC jack to output sound to an ARC device, on the Home menu, press or to highlight Settings, then press OK. Highlight System, then press OK. Highlight Control other devices (CEC), then press OK. Highlight HDMI ARC, then press OK to check the box. Navigation through the Roku interface is fine. What I found later is that you can select the default interface you would like to use when TV is powered on, whether it is the Home screen of Antenna or any of the other inputs. Basically, power on settings tell your TV what to do when you turn on the power. To configure the power on settings, from the Home screen menu, navigate to Settings > System > Power > Power on. Highlight the power on location from the list, and then press OK to select it. To be able to stream with ease without any interruption or buffering issues, you must have a good router, such as the Asus RT-AC68U. One of the thing I did not like is the lake of the Ethernet port. The other thing I didn’t like, is the remote. It is very tiny small remote that can be lost if misplaced somewhere. I DO miss the traditional remote with the numerical buttons for channels. I hope that Sharp / Roku will release such a remote on the market with a reasonable price and I’ll go for it. I am not sure if I am allowing to post external urls here, if so, this is the direct link for the FULL manual at SharpUSA site: https://www.sharptvusa.com/sites/default/files/2016-08/Sharp%20LC-32-43-50LB481U_15-0984_WEB_V1_ENG_Final_lr_1.pdf

Game room tv
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We got this tv to place in the game room for the kids to do their video games on. We were pleasantly surprised by how much we use the built in Roku. You tube videos as well as net flicks are easy to pull up, plus there are no complaints regarding the quality of the picture. It was super easy to hang on the wall and the weight of the tv is very easy for one person to handle. The only complaint is that the tv can't be controlled by buttons on the tv, you have to use the remote. This can be a problem since the kids are always misplacing the remote. The saving grace is that you can download a remote on a smartphone or tablet, and so this is what is done (often). In short, good tv, lightweight, and download a remote as soon as you can.

Good buy with built in Roku!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great buy when on "Deal of the Day"! Like that it has built in Roku, which was taken into consideration prior to my purchase. Being able to use available apps such as the TWC app, essentially allows you to watch live cable tv (through your subscription) without the need for an additional set top box. This unit has a bit of a delay upon turning it on & the remote control is unconventional for non application live television use, but these aspects don't bother me at all, since I primarily use the apps to view movies & tv. With that being said, this units remote control may not be suitable for everyone & may not meet certain expectations that have become standard with a conventional type of remote control. Bottom line for me...Prive was right, has worked without glitch for several months now & picture and sound (after adjusting) is very good for a tv in its class.

Great TV for the price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read the reviews before purchasing this TV. My family wanted a smart tv but didn't want to spend too much for it because we weren't sure if we would use all of the features. This proved to be a great purchase! For someone who is a beginner with smart tv technology, this is a good choice. It was relatively easy to set up. Some of the features included we can't utilize but it's because of our cable provider. The TV has great picture quality and operation. I stayed in a 4-star hotel recently that had a smart TV that was no where near this quality. That tv was slow to switch channels and took forever to come on. None of those problems exists with this Sharp. For the price, it's a great choice!!

Great Smart TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my daughters new apartment. Easy hookup, she is 21 and did it herself. Picture quality is great and so is ease of use. She uses all the features and has spent quite a bit of time exploring all its capabilities. Remote looks way less complicated than others I've seen, so even I could probably work it! She does not play games, so no info there. Other tv's with similar specs were double the price or more. In short, it surpasses her expectations and she is thrilled. I read a lot of reviews on bunches of tv,s, so price was not as big of factor as a long lasting quality product. Price was a no brained though at @ 250.00.

Can't beat the price especially for a smart TV!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was by far a steal of a deal. It was very light weight and was easy to mount on the wall and the picture and sound are great! My wife and I use Netflix a lot but have had to connect our tablet to our tv and watch it that way in the past. This tv has a button on the remote that takes you directly to it without having to shuffle through which HDMI input you're using for it. The sound is not bad either. Me and my wife love this tv and the built-in Roku apps it has. Overall it has been a great purchase especially for how inexpensive it was!

Great TV at a Great Price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this television because of the amazing deal Best Buy had going on. I like the fact that it has built in ROKU, saves me some money on purchasing the unit separately. Anyways, the picture quality is superb, better than my Vizio! I like the fad in and out feature when you turn on or off the device. I'm a sucker for details like that. The only complaint I have is the remote for the television is the ROKU remote. I wish the device came with its own remote instead of having to use the ROKU one.

Great Value!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We wanted to upgrade from our 27in TV without spending alot of money. We did some research and found this with decent reviews. I am on the Best Buy email list so I had received a coupon offer for this model for $299.99. This is our 1st smart TV and we are pretty happy with the connectivity, the ease of installation, and the picture quality. The only thing I dont care for is there is not a number pad on the remote but it automatically added channel 3 and 4 for our VCR so its not much of an issue.

Great tv for your money!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 2nd Sharp Roku tv. I bought my original one back in 2015 and recently the screen went black. I had to take it in to get fixed, the repair center couldn't fix it so I got a replacement for free. I end up buying another Roku tv since the newer model came out last summer. This is a great tv for the money. Great picture, sound, easy to use and tons of apps! Gave it 4 stars since my first Roku tv only lasted barely over a year. I recommend buying the 2 year warranty through Geek Squad.

Can't beat it for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are looking for the highest end TV, this may not be for you. However, the everyday person will think the picture on this TV is great and the price is unbeatable too. The Roku coming built in makes this TV perfect, especially if you are a cord cutter. I wanted a TV outside, so all I do is use the Roku and hook up an HDTV antenna, and I have all the channels I'll ever need. This is coming from someone who specs out TVs and all kinds of electronic equipment for a living and also as a hobby.

Roku Believer!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great quality for the price ! Sure the factory built in speakers could be louderrrr but I have mine hooked up to surround sound speakers so for me , not a problem! Roku believer all the way , I love that I am able to download the time Warner application and see all my channels there instead of running a cable all the way outside where I currently have it . Over all - awesome tv for the price . Love the built in apps! Wish it came in a 60"!

good tv for good price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this tv is a good starter tv. It has a good screen and is not too heavy. Also the price is low. I don't like the base as it is sort of unattractive. However if you mount it on the wall, then you don't need the base. The remote is pretty lame, as it has no number buttons though. Roku works well.

Great TV for a small living room
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV has a great picture, good sound and it's very easy to set up. The only drawback is it comes with a Roku remote control, rather than a Sharp remote. You always get the Roku home screen when you turn on the TV and have to select your service, even if it's cable or satellite TV. I'm used to it, but I still have to use both the cable remote and the Roku remote to operate the TV.

Great tv
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased this on Black Friday and have had it over a year. It’s a great tv. We love the built in Roku which works great. The picture is bright and crisp. The sound is ok but I arched with a sound as and it sounds awesome. The size is perfect for our large living room. The tv still functions as it did day one. My only complaint is Sharp not making it easy to get a replacement remote.
