I Own This TV!

I own this same TV and I got it at Best Buy 2 yrs ago
for its ROKU abilities and my budget was $300.
It's a great 1080p TV and has outstanding HD apps!
YouTube pops to life like I've never seen before.
But, here we are 2 yrs later and 4K TV's can be had for
this same price.
Here's a Best Buy 4K TV that smokes this SHARP
which is Hisense now.
This 4K TV at Best Buy has better everything
for the same price, give or take $20 or so.

This IS your chance to step up to 4K and do it right with
a full ROKU experience built in just like the SHARP TV.
GO 4K and forget about 1080p as it's the past and for
good reason too.
I like my 1080p HD SHARP ROKU TV, but, I would've bought
the 4K TV if it were affordable 2 yrs ago when this SHARP
ROKU TV was the HOT item.
Merry Christmas!

great tv ok remote

The TV is great. The TV remote is minimal but functional. Screen mirroring does not work. I talked to support and they said only roku supported apps can be casted, which is not screen mirroring. I have other roku device where I can mirror my desktop, but not with this roku TV. If screen mirroring is not your priority then this is a great TV

We purchased a Sharp 50" LED 1080P Smart HDTV for Mom's birthday. It looked great and was purchased for a good price.
Unfortunately, it failed in less than four years.
I understand this can happen and its not fair to judge all Sharp products based upon this single failure. However, I have never had a TV fail in such a short time. The "good price" does not seem very good now.
Replaced with a Samsung.

Disappointed

I'm really sad to write this review. I initially loved this TV. I've had it a little over a year. Its actually want promoted me to buy another smaller one for my kids. But recently it started glitching, where it would bounce back and forth between apps by itself. I just wrote it off as technology being technology. But then a few days ago, I turned it on and it was really dim, can barely see anything unless the room is dark. And starts like flashing/blinking randomly. So I contact Roku who say I need to contact Sharp. I contact Sharp Support who say I need Sharp Technical. I get to Sharp Support who finally navigate me through a series of troubleshooting with no avail. But I'm past its warranty by a couple months. So now I'm just sad because my TV is broke and I have to either buy a new one or get it repaired.
It still was a good TV to begin with tho. Great quality picture.

This TV offers a lot for a low price. Roku built in, great picture, etc. A lot of these sets are getting dismissed now because they're not 4k, but they are still really good and great to put in a garage, kids room, or a guest room. This is actually mounted in my SUV for tailgating, and is wonderful.

I've had this TV for about a year now and am very pleased with the picture. One odd issue is after the last app update, the Amazon Prime app no longer works. Other than that, it's been a great purchase.

Subpar electronics

The wifi and Roku electronics are substandard. I Have had to factory reset a number of times but still no success.
The wifi circuit is poor. It inconsistently picks up wifi signals and then even if you have full bars, will not connect. Even with the router sitting 5 ft. line of site, you have a 50/50 chance of it recognizing it, and then if it does, another 50/50 shot that it will actually connect. It will lose your sign on password and you will have to reenter it time after time.
You can not use the T.V. without the Roku controller.
The "Smart" Roku feature is even more of a pain. You have to try and line up the Roku controller just right in order for it to work. (That is indicative of the very lowest end Roku system)
The only consistent and reliable thing about this T.V. is that the Roku will lock up and you will end up pushing the control button repeatedly to try and get it to move through the menu.
It has a fine picture, and rather than take a hammer to it, I may see if I can use it as a monitor in my office. I will not buy another SHARP T.V. again. Period. If you work for Sharp, please feel free to be embarrassed and walk around town with your head down, hoping no one finds out.

Burning a hole in tv

We’ve had this tv for a year now and it’s been great up until a few days ago. Out of no where, the bottom left corner of the TV had a black spot, and within 1 day the spot has grown triple in size and the plastic on the TV is starting to melt and a crack had appeared in the TV. So if you get this TV make sure you get the longest possible warranty to protect you from this!

Buyer Beware

I bought this TV in March/April 2018. A few months into having it, I started experiencing connectivity issues - TV would just disconnect from the WiFi in the middle of me watching a show, would have to reset network and reconnect to my WiFi manually. Did this on and off for about 3 months. I thought the problem was fixed until a month ago when it started doing it again but I thought it’d be a quick fix like the other times - wrong.
It’s apparently a common problem with Roku where it will disconnect from the WiFi numerous times until eventually the MAC address reads all zeros and at that point you have to replace a piece of hardware.
I purchased the extended warranty when I got the TV but of course by now it is not valid. In order for me to get this problem with my TV fixed I have to become a member which will run me $199 for the year so I can then have the techs come out to do a diagnostic which will cost $49 and if I need a new part for my TV I will be responsible for the price of the part as well. Needless to say, the money I invested in this TV has been completely wasted as only two years into having it - I am having to buy another one.
