Best bang for the buck if you don't need 3D.

    Posted .

I went into this knowing exactly what I wanted, which is a a big beautiful picture without other "junk". I have no use for 3D personally, I find it annoying. I don't need a "smart TV", my blu ray player does all the "smart" stuff, and I wanted to save the money. 240hz and LED make minimal difference in reality (I'm in the TV business). I wanted something to knock my guests out with beautiful picture when watching blu rays, and I wanted it for under $1000. For reference I want to note that I recently purchased a LG 60" plasma and returned it because despite the beautiful picture, the reflections in the glass screen were too much to take in all but very dark rooms. Let me just say here, that if you can TOTALLY darken your viewing area, plasma TVs have gorgeous pictures. If you are in a room with lights on, or with a lot of daylight, get an LCD. Now most newer LCDs like this unit to have a semi-gloss screen with a small amount of reflection, but it is minimal compared to plasmas.. Picture quality on this TV is absolutely outstanding. To make sure audio and video are correctly synced turn off the stupid extra features like fine motion, and switch to game mode, then do your color adjustments. Film mode is a bad thing, don't use it. Just go game mode and turn off fine motion, and you are good. "Flashlighting" is minimal, and blacks are very good. Motion blurring on sports / fast action sequences is very minimal and never a bother. If you just want a big beautiful 1080P picture for a good price without bells and whistles, this is the one. Maximum bang for the buck in terms of picture quality / quantity. As a TV dealer I purchased this TV here because it was a better deal than I could get through a distributor. It's really a great value.

    Great LED for the Price

    Posted .

Got this tv for $999, plus 10% cash back through Discover. Awesome deal and was delivered in 36 hours to my living room. Surprinsgly light for a 60 inch tv, as I set everything up myself in about an hour while "working from home". It would take about 20 minutes if I wasn't working. Stand goes on very easy and seems very sturdy. TV looks great when first started up. I used some calibration settings I found online and it looks even better. So far I watched regular hdtv via FIOS, hockey in HD, NCIS in HD, played NHL12 and Forza 4 on Xbox 360. All connected via hdmi. Everything looks awesome. Can't wait to play BF3 on this later. For the price you cannot beat this tv. I don't want 3D or need the wifi, and 3 hdmi ports is plenty for me. Sound quality isn't bad at all for a tv this thin. Its better than my previous 37 inch LG LCD's sound, but I will probably get a soundbar eventually, as surround sound won't work well in my apartment.

    Great computer monitor and HDTV

    Posted .

I purchased this LED TV for the dual purpose of use as a computer monitor and for watching FiOS TV. This Sharp is replacing a 60'' rear projection Sony television that had yellowing issues for the second time in four years. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of sound that this Sharp has compared to my old set. I can keep the volume at about 25% and still hear everything clearly; on my old set I would have to keep the volume at around 75%. What a big difference considering how much thinner this television is! Out of the box the default visual settings are terrible, but this is true of all televisions now a days, they are all optimized for the harsh lights of a store showroom as the manufacture is never sure what model will wind up on the sales floor. I was able to follow an online guide at http://reviews.cnet.com/basic-hdtv-tips/ on how to calibrate the television and now it looks beautiful. As I said before I am using this television as a computer monitor hooked up to my ATI 5870 video card via an HDMI cord. It looks and sounds just as good for computer use as it does for watching cable television. I got this set on sale for $999.99 with 36 months financing and free delivery (that works out to be about $28.00 a month) which I think is a great value considering my last 60" cost me $3000.00 just four years ago. On a side note I had this set delivered and had a very pleasant experience. The delivery staff was on time and very friendly. The online store is a little vague on what the delivery people will and will not do. I can say that they unboxed and assembled the set for me and placed it on my entertainment center. They offered to plug in my HDMI cables for me but I wanted to move my cable box and computer around a bit so I told them I would handle it. They placed all the trash back in the box and left me with the box in case I needed to return the set. Overall I would definitely recommend buying this Sharp 60" to all my friends.

    First LED purchase

    Posted .

After purchasing the largest television I have ever owned (Sharp Aquos 60' LCD model LC60E79U), I could not have been happier. About two weeks later I saw this set come available and jumped on it. It was the same price I paid for the LCD, but an upgrade in technology. At first I was a apprehensive about returning the LCD, as I was very happy with that television, but did some additional research and decided to go for it. I must say that Best Buy is my #1 place for buying televisions and electronics. They exceeded my expectations! I was able to return the LCD, receive a full refund, and switch this set out for the LED. When I bought my first HD television Sony (LCD) from Best Buy about a little less than a year ago, and really wanted to get an LED during the next go around. That television is now in the bedroom (I really like that set also), and now have this new one in my new home. I recommend going online (I found a couple of forums) to get some ideas on how to set up your LED with the best picture performance possible. I admit it took a second to get used to (LCD vs. LED), but the picture is very crisp, and I am becoming a fan day by day. I scored the sound as average because I don't really use it. I have everything running through my tuner (Onkyo).

    great tv

I'm a big tech head and work in IT and this is my 2nd led TV. I did not care about the smart TV functions because I use a media center as my cable box and to watch movies. The truth is the settings out the box is horrible. I went to Amazon look up this tv and reviews and got my calibrateions settings from there and man after that the picture is like night and day. Looks so amazing. I would def recommended to a friend. Fyi if you do not know how to do settings on your TV you should read the manual before giving a bad review. Other then that I love this TV.

    Great Television!

    Posted .

We picked this television up this week. WOW, what a picture! We did a little tweaking of the picture, but it was even pretty good out of the box. We have two Samsung plasma's and this tv is as good or better. We watched a blueray Avatar video and it was unbelievable. My wife and I kept saying how a person almost felt like we were in the movie. The 60 inch screen is perfect! People complain about the sound, but the sound is not that great on any big tv. Hook it up to a sound bar or another system and you're all set with that aspect. Overall...a great tv and a great price!!

    Great TV for the money.

    Posted .

Very good TV at an excellent price. 60" screen is nice. We did have to do a few adjustments to the default settings, but the picture is excellent. The TV looks really nice, is very thin and energy efficient. The room it is in has a lot of windows. So, it helps that the screen has a matte finish. The TV also automatically adjusts its brightness when the light level in the room changes.

Best TV without bell and whistles

    Posted .

I was looking for a good, big screen TV w/o any smart-non-sense features. For under $1K, this TV has very good picture, rivals the Samsung, Sony and Vizio, but this one looks much better. I hook it up to a Sony S580 Blu-ray, Xbox 360, Pioneer VSX-1021, Energy Take Classic 5.1 speakers. Games and movies look sooo good. I calibrated this TV using a free download disc from AVS forum. The only reason this TV was not a five stars because its black level was good but not as good as the higher-end models.

Great picture, mediocre sound, a few design flaws

    Posted .

I really like the picture quality, am not impressed with the sound but didn't expect much, expected to use a stereo system for audio reproduction anyhow, which brings me to the design flaws. (1) I have three HDMI sources connected to the TV, and have the optical digital audio output from the TV connected to a receiver. I expected the audio output would resupply what came in on any of the three selected HDMI sources back out to the receiver, but it does not. The only audio I get out of the optical output from the TV is from the built-in tuner. So after I select a HDMI source, I still have to reselect the source audio on the receiver. (2) No S-video inputs. (3) No digital audio input paired with the component video and computer inputs. (4) There is only one component video input, so I had to get a separate video switch to handle all my sources. All said, I expected some deficiencies for a 60" LED backlit LCD TV priced at $999.99, so I will keep it.

    Good price and quality

    Posted .

we bought this tv as Christmas gift to ourselves in Dec 2011, so far it has been performing well. For a 60 inch, led 1080 TV, its price is really attractive. The only thing i would suggest the manufacter to consider is that the base (supporter) of the TV are inserted to the TV body, thus make it impossible to turn the TV around if you want to adjust angle of view. Other than that, we are pretty happy about the product.

    Great

    Posted .

I reviewed all the reviews from Bestbuy and Amazon. I was pleasently surprised that the factory settings were very good and only needed slight tweaking for my taste. Pluged in the plug and HDMI and BAM! What a great picture. I do not need all the bells and whistles of the more expensive models, there are more then I need for this unit. The delivery guys were great and helped set on my stand, if it came with a User book or warranty card I think they forgot to leave it, but it is soo easy to set up, if you ever had a TV before. I have a 43 HD plasma and the difference for me is the energy star rating both pictures are almost equal, I really can't tell the difference. I just wanted a bigger TV and the price was RIGHT!

Thank you Sharp and Best Buy!

    Posted .

I purchased this to replace my 8 year old 55inch DLP. I've had it for about a week and I'm extremely happy. The picture is very clear. Almost 3D like at times. Out of the box the factory settings didn't impress me. But once I read the directions and set it up to my taste, I am extremely happy! This is a great LED TV with a great, clear, bright picture. And I got it on sale for $999. TOUCHDOWN! Thank you Sharp and Best Buy!

    Great TV for the price

    Posted .

I bought this TV on sale for $999.99 and let me tell you, for someone who was mainly a Samsung buyer, this TV is very good. It's sharp, very clean lines, there is a bit of a lag on certain tv shows (Football games) where you can see a bit of a lag, but it's still a great TV for the price. I heard there is a diagnostics dvd that can help with that, so that is my next step. But great TV for the price. You'll get more than what you pay for and won't have to fork over so much for a good tv with great picture.

    nICE PIC

After first buying the Westinghouse 60 inch LCD and it breaking after one month and then fighting with Best Buy like a maniac for them simply to replace it with another Westinghouse 60 inch for that one to break after 31 days. Of course the policy is after 30 days they won't take it back, and begging them and getting turned down by countless times and talking with customer service to allow me to have any other television and finally one person relented and let me get this sharp LED. And the difference so far is remarkable. I also like it allows for many types of picture clarity. I don't really know about the sound because I connected up to I surround sound system.

    Great Tv for the price

    Posted .

I just purchased and received my Sharp 60 inch LED TV. Easy to set up and with the WiFi it was easy to get on the net. I found a forum online to enhance the picture quality and WOW! What a difference. I definitely recommend this television. It was very simple to download apps and watch movies with a crystal clear picture. This is my second sharp LED television. My relatives have Samsung and Sony and I can't tell a difference except in price for a comparable television.
